AdwCleaner keeps finding these two

Q: AdwCleaner keeps finding these two

I scanned my PC (Windows 8.1) with AdwCleaner and it found this stuff in my browsers:
-\\ Mozilla Firefox v30.0 (en-US)
[ Plik : C:\Users\zzz\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\ulybqgjj.default\prefs.js ]
-\\ Google Chrome v36.0.1985.125
[ Plik : C:\Users\zzz\AppData\Local\Google\Chrome\User Data\Default\preferences ]
When I try to delete them, AdwCleaner removes them successfully but then they show up again in the next scan. Is this something to worry about? I'm not very tech savvy and wanted to be sure.

Preferred Solution: AdwCleaner keeps finding these two

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

A: AdwCleaner keeps finding these two

Those two are not files that are removed. They are the locations in your 2 browsers that AdwCleaner scanned for adware.
Are you having a problem with adware....browser/ search engine redirects/ hijacking....popups?

Hi- I'm hoping you can help me.... I run Adwcleaner and keep getting the following result, even after cleaning and rebooting.  I have tried running combofix, norton power eraser, junkware removal tool, combo fix, Norton full system scan, Malwarebytes Anti-Malware with "rootkit scan" option checked, Sophos virus removal tool, Emsisoft Emergency Kit, Emsisoft online scanner,  Eset... .... and I'm sure more!!  Pretty much everything I could find on these forums.  The only software that detects this issue is Adwcleaner. All the other programs display "no viruses found."  Is it an issue?  Help!! Thank so much in advance.

A computer at my job has several pieces of adware on it, most notably the Premier Opinion adware. I ran Malwarebytes and AdwCleaner and BitDefender Free twice, but the adware seems to still be present. I am currently running Eset Online Scanner but it seems to crash at about 60%. Resource Monitor says Eset is running normally, but it does not respond and it's GUI elements get a black border around most of them, similar to when a program crashes and the GUI does not respond. When Eset "crashes" it reports 10 infections found. I turned off BitDefender free while Eset was running, since Eset warns of a conflict with it, but that may have caused the problem. I noticed something was wrong when I saw that the search engines AdwC deleted from Chrome were there again at the next scan. Same thing with Mbam, it found more after it had done its Threat Scan. I have every log AdwC and Mbam created.

I have PeoplePC as my dial-up ISP and as of late there have been problems that have been happening more and more frequently that have made my surfing experience very unfriendly.

Half the time I go to send an email using my Outlook Express there will be a delay of anywhere from 15 to 30 or more seconds while it says something about CONNECTING or FINDING host. Eventually... It will send the email.

Same thing when surfing. Sometimes I will click on a link and NOTHING will happen. No hourglass... absolutely nothing and then finally, the page will start to load in.

Now... It's not a case where the page is slow to load after it is found. It seems like my PC has all this damn searching to do to find the damn site. I am very frustrated over this.

Some would suggest that this is part of the reality of having a dial-up connection but I have had dial-up for over 7 years and have had nothing like this occur nor as often.

Does this sound like it's an ISP issue? Or my PC? especially the email issue where it waits for sometimes up to 45 seconds while it looks for the host.

Just wondering if changing my ISP will fix this?

Thanks in advance

A:Finding Server... Finding host (enough already)!

Most likely changing your ISP will be the best solution. Is Broadband available in your area??

Hi all. This is my first post on this forum. I ran AdwCleaner for the first time yesterday. I did not have any problems but I was curious to see if I had any junk which had not been identified by MS Essentials, Malwarebytes or Avast. Some files were identified which I cleaned, but now am concerned I may have deleted a false positive. Or, stated another way, how can I be sure that every file I deleted should have been deleted? If I post the AdwCleaner report, can someone tell me if any of the deleted files should be reinstalled? My PC seems like it is working better than ever but I would feel better if an expert reviewed the deleted file log. Thanks.

Hi Artbuc Can you go in the C:\AdwCleaner folder, open the file named AdwCleaner[R?].txt where ? would be the highest digit number and then copy/paste the content of that file in your next reply?

Did you download AdwCleaner from here? Some anti-virus programs may falsely detect the program and prevent it from downloading completely.AdwCleaner has been around for a while know and someone else (family member, friend) with access to your computer may have downloaded and used it. If AdwCleaner was previously used, be aware that AdwCleaner is frequently updated and, if using an outdated version, you will be prompted to download the newest one.

Hi everyone

I used adwcleaner to get rid of Babylon toolbar, but it deleted all of my custom buttons on my google toolbar, and one
of my programmes (NCH switch sound file converter)
I had to use system restore to get back to normal, why did this programme do this.
If I have to use this programme again what can I do to prevent the same thing happening again.
Can I back up my home page before I use this programme, if so how do I do this.

How often is it recommended to run AdwCleaner?
I realize this is a somewhat general question.
Thank you.

A:How often to run AdwCleaner

I would suggest doing that after installing a new program or browser add-on. Some updates for free programs and free add-ons contain adware, too.
Comes in handy for cleaning a new computer, too.

My computer has been acting weird over the last 3 - 4 days.
I go to Facebook every day. I play some games on Google Chrome but there are two games that I have to play on Firefox because they are too slow on Google.
On Google when I open FB the pictures on posts open in steps, the page is slower to load and when I go to load one of the games it is slower and when I finally get in it is skittish and the pointer fluctuates.
On FF they have been super fast but now it is taking forever to load the games and when I do it is super slow to do anything.
Normally I don't have a problem but just lately there have been problems on both Google and FF.
I know that Facebook have made changes to their site and I don't know whether that may be the problem.
I have made sure everything is updated. Used CCleaner. Cleared cache etc. Deactivated Java. I use AVG and have done a full system scan. I have Adblock. I have made sure there is only one Shockwave Flash working.
I downloaded the Junkware Removal Tool and did a scan. It deleted some and repaired others.
I downloaded the AdwCleaner and it has finished scanning but I am not sure what to leave ticked. I don't want to remove something that is going to cause me problems.
I have written the single line ones but I took a screenshot of the multiples.
Could someone please advise me?

A:Help please regarding AdwCleaner!

Welcome to BC !
Allow AdwCleaner to remove all that it found. Rerun it and post the log following the instructions below. No one program will
find all the adware and malware. Use ALL of the programs below.
Use CCleaner to remove Temporary files, program caches, cookies, logs, etc. Use the Default settings. No need to use the
Registry Cleaning Tool...risky. Pay close attention while installing and UNcheck offers of toolbars....especially Google.
After install, open CCleaner and run by clicking on the Run Cleaner button in the bottom right corner.
CCleaner - PC Optimization and Cleaning - Free Download
Download AdwCleaner by Xplode onto your desktop.
Close all open programs and internet browsers.
Double click on adwcleaner.exe to run the tool.
Click on Scan button.
When the scan has finished click on Clean button.
Your computer will be rebooted automatically. A text file will open after the restart.
Please post the contents of that logfile with your next reply.
You can find the logfile at C:\AdwCleaner[S1].txt as well.
download Junkware Removal Tool to your desktop.
Shut down your protection software now to avoid potential conflicts.
Run the tool by double-clicking it. If you are using Windows Vista, 7, or 8; instead of double-clicking, right-mouse click JRT.exe and select "Run as Administrator".
The tool will open and start scanning your system.
Please be patient as this can take a while to complete depending on your system's specifications.

So I came across one of those fake tech support ads and did not press any buttons on the screen; opened up task manager and closed the process, cleaned up my browser cache and reset the browser settings. I ran Adwcleaner but it keeps picking up AOL.com and Ask.com, but the problem is I don't have either of those search browsers installed at all. They don't show on my google chrome browser, but it keeps showing on Adwcleaner as if it's found in the AppData folder in Google Chrome.
All I'm gonna say is I'm not going to mess with it. The last time I did, which was stupidly deleting that file, I made my computer stop running/broken with the please wait loading screen stalling. So can anyone help me in what to do? I'm panicking every time adwcleaner requires me to restart my computer cause then the please wait screen loads, and due to some trauma of having my computer wiped due to that loading screen stalling, but it takes awhile to start up. Then once the please wait goes away, it shows the screensaver and finally my account. Just ugh. What do I do? It's practically nonexistent. I don't have the toolbar installed. I don't have any other little thing that could be detectable. My antivirus, WebRoot doesn't detect anything. I'm using ESET online scanner atm. Heck, even my HitmanPro didn't even detect any malware or anything. Just the typical suspicious programs that come up due to video games that come with game guards.

A:Not Sure What to Do About This Ask.com and AOL.com in AdwCleaner

Checked Malwarebytes. Nothing came up. JRT however, caught something. The log is here:

End of JRT log

(ESET is still scanning as well. Last thing to do run after it is AdwCleaner and see if it picks up the AOL or Ask because they reappeared in my search options when I had reset Google Chrome. I obviously don't use those because well... they're not my go to source for searching stuff. If AdwCleaner doesn't pick them up, then that's probably what it was and I apologize for wasting anyone's time who is reading this.)
Update: ESET finished. Nothing came up.

False detections by anti-virus programs for specialized fix tools are not uncommon.Certain embedded files that are part of legitimate programs or specialized fix tools (like AdwCleaner), may at times be detected by some anti-virus and anti-malware scanners as suspicious, a Risk Tool, Hacking Tool, Potentially Unwanted Program, a possible threat or even Malware (virus/trojan) when that is not the case. This occurs for a variety of reasons to include the tool's compiler, the files it uses, whether files are compressed or packed, what behavior (routines, scripts, etc) it performs, any registry strings it may contain and the type of security engine that was used during the scan. Other legitimate files which may be obfuscated, encrypted or password protected in order to conceal itself so they do not allow access for scanning but often trigger alerts by anti-virus software. When flagged by an anti-virus or security scanner, it's because the program includes features, behavior or files that appear suspicious or which can potentially be used for malicious purposes. Compressed and packed files in particular are often flagged as suspicious by security software because they have difficulty reading what is inside them. These detections do not necessarily mean the file is malicious or a bad program. It means it has the potential for being misused by others or that it was simply detected as suspicious or a threat due to the security program's heuristic analysis engine which provides the abi... The contents of the AdwCleaner log file may be confusing. Unless you see a program name that you recognize and know should not be removed, don't worry about it. If you see an entry you want to keep, return to AdwCleaner before cleaning...all detected items will be listed (and checked) in each tab. Click on and uncheck any items you want to keep (except you cannot uncheck Chrome and Firefox preferences lines).AdwCleaner should have created a folder located at C:\AdwCleaner. AdwCleaner.txt logs are all stored in that folder including the Cleaning report log. Please copy and paste the contents of AdwCleaner[S0].txt in your next reply for review.

Hello to all the good  people at bleeping, I have been running malwarebytes to scan my pc and lately I have been coming up with pup.optional and I ran the adwcleaner and need to ask you if you can look at this result and let me know if you see anything in the results that could be a threat.
I see avg listed but I don not have that as a protection anti virus. I have ran Ccleaner many times to clean out the leftovers.
Thankyou for reading
Have a great day,

A:adwcleaner help

AdwCleaner is a free portable adware cleaner created by Xplode (a BC Security Colleague) that will search for and remove many potentially unwanted programs (PUPs), adware, toolbars, browser hijackers, extensions, add-ons, browser helper objects (BHOs) and other junkware to include many related registry entries (values, keys). It will also clean FF and Chrome extensions and Add-ons. When first run AdwCleaner includes options under the tabs to show what was found and to allow disabling detections you want to keep since not all detections are necessarily bad. The only things you can't uncheck is Chrome and Firefox preferences lines but you still can view them in the "Chrome" and "Firefox" tab. If a detection is made the preference line will be removed when running the tool. In some cases AdwCleaner may detect items related to legitimate programs...if in doubt about a particular detection, a Google search should be performed to gather additional information before removal. The contents of the AdwCleaner log file may be confusing. Unless you see a program name that you recognize and know should not be removed, don't worry about it. If you see an entry you want to keep, return to AdwCleaner before cleaning...all detected items will be listed (and checked) in each tab. Click on and uncheck any items you want to keep.AVG Security Toolbar and AVG Secure Search (created by the makers of AVG Anti-virus) are optional add-ons when installing their anti-virus product if you choose "Customiz... The other day I downloaded AdwCleaner, I am concerned because when I run the program it says AdwCleoner with a cross in the middle of the o.  Have I downloaded the correct program?  The icon on my desktop is not yellow - it is like a gray shadow.  It never installs when I run it - to use it I run it each time.  The first time it found several items that needed to be removed.  After running AdwCleaner I ran Malwarebytes Anti-Malware and it found several items to remove as well.  One being - C:\AdwCleaner\Quarantine\C\Program Files\Conduit\Community Alerts\Alerts\Alert.dll.vir(PUP.Optional.Conduit) ->Quarantined and deleted successfully.  Now AdwClean hangs up and freezes computer when it cleans browsers.
Have I downloaded the correct program and has the Quarantined and deletion of AdwCleaner By Malwarebytes caused AdwCleaner to stop working correctly?

A:Need Help With AdwCleaner

AdwCleaner Official download mirrorFrom what you posted it appears Malwarebytes only detected item's in AdwCleaner's Quarantine folder...not the program itself.AdwCleaner is a portable stand-alone tool which does not use a setup file required for a typical installation. This allows it to be easily removed using it's built-in uninstall feature.Double-click on adwcleaner.exe to run the tool.Vista/Windows 7/8 users right-click and select Run As Administrator.Click on the Uninstall button.Confirm with yes.Redownload AdwCleaner when done.

I'm new here but I've registered to post a really bugging thing! Every time I download AdwCleaner.exe my Norton software analyzes it as bad! Today it blocked it completely! I like the program but is it bad or good? I investigated it a bit and Norton said it blocked it as no one hardly uses the program and therefore it must be bad. Norton also said something about the program developer should apply for 'whitelisting' given the program is so sparingly used and then it would not block it. I've used it a lot in the recent past but I can't get it back on my PC. Can anyone help? Thanks!

The truth is that tools used on uor forums to deal with adware/malware are very often marked as suspicious by AV vendors. Be assured that AdwCleaner is safe and not infected.
The reason for being marked as harmful is they contain usually very strong inbuilt parts to deal with malware (like process killers, strong file removers), which appear suspicious to AV's.
Submitting it as a false positive to AV companies is pointless, because they do not check the version and each time an update to AdwCleaner or any other tool is released - the history goes on and on.

Hello dear friends, I had such problem today, I ran Adwcleaner tool today , which i downloaded from here, and after restart it removed also my maintenance software from iOLO (SystemMechanic) so why it removed it? Thanks in advanced.

You wanted to remove adware and that is what AdwCleaner did. System Mechanic is more likely to cause problems than it is
to solve any you may have. Those registry cleaning and defragging tools can cause serious problems.

Hello my friends,
my problem was with the adwcleaner.
After running it find's AVG tool, some registy and browser abdata.
The new version can unclick what you think is good for you.
But for the browser abdata was no click option.
I want only AVG TOOL to remove and clickt only for that, the other findings are uncheckt.
Anyway, after the cleaning my browsers chrome and firefox are not working proberly.
I can't have the extensions I  want. The browsers crashes all the time.On chrom every time I log in a pop up window appears
''it can find file data''...
After that nothing help:
reinstall chrome and firefox fails.
Windows restore fails too.
The only think I find is to remove my old windows entry.
And make another  with a new name.
What is your opinion! Thanks for your good information!
P.S.On the older ADWCLEANER versions never had a problem.

Hello leonidaso -
When you run AdwCleaner, first run Search Mode to see if it lists any problems.
Then you can see if any items should be removed.
Xplode has now issued a re-written version, so all previous usage ideas must be reviewed.
I am currently translating his site (French) to find the better operating methods.
For now just use Antivirus, Malwarebytes Anti-Malware Free (aka MBAM), and SUPERAntiSpyware Free (aka SAS)
Thank You -

I have had this program installed for a couple of weeks now.Very useful, at first I found many instances of malware not found by MSE, or by SuperAntispyware.I was both pleased that the malware was found, but disappointed (particularly with MSE), that this small simple program had found what they could not !Subsequently if my browser slows noticeably I run AdwCleaner & occasionally (as if from nowhere) I have one or two instances of malware.I am defining malware as anything installed without specific permission, regardless of threat level.AdwCleaner is easy & fast but after the deletion process you must restart which takes longer than the "search" & "delete" process. There are many program improvements one could suggest, but in essence it's small simple & it works!Warning: You might be tempted as I was, to download & install the Hosts/PUP files recommended by AdwCleaner.I'd suggest you don't. I spent ages attempting to do this, but the webpage is a nightmare in French !I spent sometime drafting a few suggestions but the contact me link failed repeatedly. Very frustrating.Edit: Moved topic from All Other Applications to the more appropriate forum. ~ Animal

If you think you may be infected with malware, the first place to start is in the "Am I Infected? What Do I Do?" forum. This is a centralized place where advanced members and staff can provide initial assistance with malware removal. If your issues cannot be resolved there, then you will receive further instructions as to what you need to do.

I just tried to download and run Adwcleaner v5.029, but as I try to install Adwcleaner, Windows Smartscreen pops up. Adguard premium pops up and my Zemana premium pops up (blocks a dangerous program), all saying that this is is a dodgy program.
I tried with multiple sites and I get the same result.

Has anyone experienced the same thing?

Yes. Windows Smartscreen popped up saying that it is unsafe. Of course, Windows Smartscreen says a lot of things are unsafe... Adwcleaner is a safe file.

G'day farts and Welcome to BC.
When you select the "Clean" button in AdwareCleaner it will quarantine the items found.
You can then use the PC to see if everything is ok, and if its behavior is normal.
Be aware that other malware present may give you an insecure feeling, so other scans /removal may be necessary.
If you then open AdwCleaner and select Uninstall, it will delete the program and the contents of the quarantine
I would be most interested to see the results of some other scans and knowing what problem/s you are experiencing .

So curently my Anti-Adware program is AdwCleaner, but I just heard about a new one called Junkware Removal Tool. Now I know that AdwCleaner has a much nicer UI, but I don't care about that. I dont care about how much RAM it uses or any of that. I just care about which of them detects more things. If any of you could run a test on that in a Virtual Machine or something like that, it would be awesome. Thank You.

A:AdwCleaner or JRT?

JRT (Junkware Removal Tool) is not new...it has been around since October 2012 when AdwCleaner was first released.JRT is a non-interactive batch program created by thisisu (a member of the BC Malware Response Team) that is designed to search for and remove many potentially unwanted programs (PUPs), adware, toolbars, browser hijackers, browser extensions, add-ons/plug-ins, browser helper objects (BHOs) and other junkware. JRT will remove all traces of these types of programs which includes related services, registry entries (values, keys), files, folders and potentially unwanted extensions. JRT will also restore some default settings for Internet Explorer, Mozilla FireFox and Google Chrome. JRT automatically removes whatever it finds...there are no options to skip or ignore detections and no option to backup/restore removed items. Before using the tool, if JRT detects an active Internet connection, it will download the latest copy and relaunch itself automatically.BTW...in June 2015, Malwarebytes announced the hiring of thisisu, and the acquisition of Junkware Removal Tool. The integration of Junkware Removal Tool within Malwarebytes Anti-Malware will take place over the next few months. The stand-alone JRT program will remain intact for those who wish to use it.MalwareBytes acquires Junkware Removal Tool to take a stronger stance at PUPsMalwarebytes Acquires Junkware Removal ToolAdwCleaner is a portable adware cleaner created by Xplode (a BC Security Colleague) that is design... Since you are not having problem, I would not touch the registry. If it is not broken do not try to fix it.

Am i suppose to click on each tab such as services, folders, files and all the other ones and do it individually? Reason i ask this is b/c when i clicked on a few of them, it does seem to show progress and scan something. When i just click scan while its on services, it doesn't seem to do anything at all.

Hi manolesta90 My name is Aura and I'll be assisting you with your malware issue. Since we'll be working together, you can call me Aura or Yoan, which is my real name, it's up to you! Now that we've broke the ice, I'll just ask you a few things during the time we'll be working together to clean your system and get it back to an operational state. As you'll notice, the logs we are asking for here are quite lenghty, so it's normal for me to not reply exactly after you post them. This is because I need some time to analyse them and then act accordingly. However, I'll always reply within 24 hours, 48 hours at most if something unexpected happens; As long as I'm assisting you on BleepingComputer, in this thread, I'll ask you to not seek assistance anywhere else for any issue related to the system we are working on. If you have an issue, question, etc. about your computer, please ask it in this thread and I'll assist you;The same principle applies to any modifications you make to your system, I would like you to ask me before you do any manipulations that aren't in the instructions I posted. This is to ensure that we are operating in sync and I know exactly what's happening on your system; If you aren't sure about an instruction I'm giving you, ask me about it. This is to ensure that the clean-up process goes without any issue. I'll answer you and even give you more precise instructions/explanations if you need. While reviewing the files on my computer and those needing to be eliminated I found Mobogenie.  I googled it and found it called a virus or close-to-virus.  I removed it and followed instructions to remove the adware with Adwcleaner.  Since then I have not been able to load certain pictures.  Particularly, I cannot get all the pictures to load on Ebay.  Some do but most do not and I get a gray background with a circling dot.  I previously had that problem and solved it with compatibility view settings or by refreshing the page.
I did check the multimedia portion of Internet options and all appear to be where they should (checked).  I know I should have left the computer alone since the Mobogenie was not bothering me but I seem to have to learn my lessons the hard way.
Anyone have any suggestions?
