I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I have few PNY USB Pen drives, which were recognized and read properly earlier. My XP operating system had a virus problem and I had to re-format and re-install again. Since then the system does not detect th PNY USB Pen Drives. It detects and reads other pen drives such as JetFlash. I have checked the PNY Pen drives on other computers, and they work just fine.
Anybody can give me some solution to this?

I had purchased a Transcend Jet Flash 700 USB 3.0 16 GB Pendrive from Flipkart in mid September 2011. The pendrive is not even a year old.

Yesterday I inserted my pendrive in a friend's laptop to transfer files of around 1.5GB. The pendrive had more than 10GB free space. 70-80% of the transfer was done but then his laptop's battery drained off and the laptop obviously got shut down. Since then, whenever I insert my pendrive in any device the blue light on it blinks for around 10 seconds and then the light turns off too. The pendrive is not detected.

I have tried reading the pendrive on my friend's laptop, on my laptop and my tablet too. On each device, the pendrive's light blinks for about 10 seconds but nothing happens.

Please help, is there any way by which I can fix it?

Does the pendrive show up in Disk Management? If so a screenshot will be helpul to give a trageted solution hopefully.

That said, if you do not have any data that you may want to recover, you may try Jetflash Online recovery

Hello Kamrul,

With the USB flash drive connected, you might open Devices and Printers to see if the USB flash drive may be displayed here. If so, right click on it, and click on Troubleshoot. Follow the instructions it gives you. If it finds a solution (ex: to install a driver), it may ask you to approve before it will.

Hopefully this may help,

my system recognizes my pendrive but I could not explore it(I can do it in other systems)

I assigned drive letters, changed & found no solution!
I installed virtual drives: farstone virtual drive & daemon tools

Now I uninstalled farstone virtual drive (But I don't think it's driver is uninstalled)

are these virtual drives' drives conflicting with pendrive path(But it is possible to assign only an unused path)

I have uploaded the DVD/CD-ROM drives list from device manager

A:transend 4gb pendrive not getting detected

Try this:

1. Power-off your laptop.

2. Remove AC power.

3. Remove battery.

4. Unplug your pendrive.

5. After about 10 minutes, connect your battery, AC power cord, switch on your lappy and let it settle down.

6. Plug your pendrive now.

Windows 7 hopefully will reinstall the driver and make your pendrive accessible.

This process has worked for some. I hope that it works for you too.

Hello Techsupport Gods,
I decided to build my own computer and got all the compatible parts.

I put everything together and decided to go down to my local Altex electronics and pick up a OS for it.
They suggested a 124$ windows 8.1 core OEM 64bit. I purchased it, went home and stuck the cd in. Booted from the CDROM drive and went to install windows on my clean and brand new 128gb SSD. When I put in the product key it keeps saying that it is invalid.
I called Microsoft and gave them the key and they tell me that it is good. They tell me that Altex gave me the wrong OS and that I need windows 8 core to be able to get windows 8.1 that I purchased.

I'm super confused and thought 8.1 was free after you purchased 8.1. But I bought 8.1 full oem 64bit, shouldn't windows 8 be with it?

Anyways, any suggestions on my next course of action?

A:Windows 8.1 product key not detected

Why would 8 be with the 8.1 dvd?

They tell me that Altex gave me the wrong OS and that I need windows 8 core to be able to get windows 8.1 that I purchased.

Maybe that is an upgrade key?

If so, suggest you take it back and buy regular retail ( not upgrade) 8.1.

$124 sounds a lot. I could get the full retail for less. Not that I want it, ghastly thing.

You would be better getting win7.

A:pendrive not able to format...!!

Worst case: Your pen drive is dead. A pen drive that has gone through thousands of Read/ Write cycles can die a natural death when its flash controller decides that it had had its full run and it is no longer safe to write any data on it.(simple non-technical explanation. )

Since you have not given any details about the pen drive in question like the model/make/capacity, for how long you have been using it, whether it is still under warranty, whether other pen drives works normally on your computer, whether you had tried this pen drive on another computer and with what results, and if it shows in the Windows Disk Management how does it appear (is it RAW) etc., etc., it is not possible to give any specific suggestion to deal with that problem.

So here you go on a round-trip.

Evening All:

I have 2(SanDisk 32Gb) pendrives that are formatted in NTFS. This presents a problem. They are "recognized" as HDD's and thus, cannot be "ejected" in normal manner using "Safely Remove Hardware" icon. When I try
this, there is not an 'eject" to click. I believe this is because the NTFS format makes[reads] them a HDD and, of course, HDD's cannot be "ejected". So, is there a command that I could run that would change the formatting from NTFS to FAT32
without having to empty all the contents of the drives, re-format, then re-install all the data?

Hello, This functionality has never worked, even when new.  Lenovo Vantage tells me my S/N is invalid and then gives me a different BIOS value every time I run the program.  I suspect this is why the Update functionality doesn't detect anything new for my device (I can see newer drivers on the website).  Also, the auto-detect on the website does not work either.  The Automatic Driver Update scan fails (An error occurred while downloading packages.).  There's another place on the site that lets me try something, I forget where.  That didn't work either because it couldn't recognize my device. Is there anything I can do to get this functionality to work?  I don't want to factory reset the device just to try this, especially since it never worked before.  Worst case is that I'll manually apply the drivers--and there probably won't be any more new ones going forward--but that's annoying. Thanks

Has Microsoft changed something in the latest April Windows Updates?
I create a default Windows 8 Enterprise VL image on my laptop in audit mode as I have always done previously.  Nothing has changed from my side.
When I install the image via WDS, everything installs fine.
When I use my WIM file to install via USB, it now comes up with:
The product key entered does not match any of the Windows images available for installation. Enter a different product key.
right after selecting the install language.
I have checked EI.cfg and it is normal:
I then tried adding PID.TXT with my Enterprise KMS key and, rather than error it then prompts me for a product key.
Surely using the VL install media it should never ask for a product key.  It never has before. (And I've never had to before)
I prepped the image as normal using:
C:\Windows\System32\Sysprep\Sysprep /generalize /oobe /shutdown /unattend:C:\Windows\win8unattend.xml
Any ideas?  I can't but help thinking something has changed in the latest batch of Windows Updates.  It's quite frustrating as not all my machines are capable of PXE, so I have to use USB.
The reason I think it is a recent change, is if I do a default install and DO NOT do any Windows Updates, it all works fine.  Only when I install the latest WU does it start doing this.

A:[NEW] The product key entered does not match any of the Windows images available for installation. Enter a different product key.

OK, So I've fixed it now, but I will still like to know WHY this has changed.

If i do this to my WIM, it then installs from USB:

imagex /flags "Enterprise" /info c:\temp\WIM\ME\install.wim "Win8Office2013Enterprise-x86" "Win8Office2013Enterprise-x86"

I wonder because I use the WDS capture image if this has somehow changed recently.
Very annoying, but now at least I can install my custom image :)

I am at home from college for the weekend. My computer has been acting up and I want to format the C drive and install Windows anew. Problem is that i left my Windows CD at college (2hrs away) (yes it's legal). This program supposedly can tell me my CD key, and even change it. So my question is: Would it work if i installed Windows from my dad's CD, then changed the CD key to mine and activated then? I don't know how the Windows activation works, but it seems like it should work to me. Thanks for any help

A:Format + Windows reinstall from a different CD, but same product key

I can't see why that would be a problem. You just need to make sure you contact M$ if you are putting it onto a different system with different hardware. But if it is just a format and reinstall on the current system, all should be ok.

So short story, I work at a college tech site that fixes student and faculty computers. A foreign exchange student from Japan with a Sony Vaio (most likely from Japan as well) managed to get a virus on his computer and he was blocked off our network. Our policy is that we wipe and reinstall the OS to ensure that the virus is gone. However, we didn't have any Windows 7 Home Prem media CDs so I downloaded a Win7 Home Prem 32bit iso off of MSDN and burnt it to disk. However, when entering the product key given on the bottom of the laptop(and I've checked 3 times now to make sure it's correct), I get a:

"Product key does not match the current Windows SKU" error.

Why is this happening? Do I need a certain burnt iso (from Sony in Japan?) because of the laptop's foreign origins or is something else causing the problem here?

A:Product Key Does Not Match Current Windows SKU (Foreign product key?)

Yes, you need a Japanese iso, they have regional editions.

I don't really know if my post is in the right forum section, but here is the idea.
Since I installed windows 7 on my new laptop, a MSI Ex625, I encountered some problems.

- I have some buttons, one of them is used to choose the alimentation mode of the laptop. An other button used to put my laptop on the "cinema pro" mode which activates my subwoofer and improves the video quality.

- I can't install Quicktime anymore and use iTunes (but it is another problem).

So, I contacted the MSI support and they told me to install the drivers for my laptop from their original website. That operation done, nothing changed. So they asked me to make an upgrade of my BIOS.

The fact is that I never performed that before and I am still looking on how to boot from a pen drive in order to install the new version of the bios. Would anyone know how to make a bootable pendrive for win 7?

Any help is welcome.

I have a pendrive partitioned in two, which I did on my Mac in Disk Utility. The first partition is a linux bootable install pen formatted to FAT, the second is a data partition, also FAT. Interesting OS situation, I know.

Under Linux or Mac OS X this set-up works perfectly, however in Windows (every version) it will only read the first partition, which is no good seeing as unless I'm rebooting into it I don't need it.

The format has to be FAT as Mac OS X doesn't support NTFS without 3rd party add-on's and Windows can't read HFS (and I don't think EXT) by default. I need to change something on the drive as most of the Windows machines I use aren't mine to install stuff on.

I think the problem could most probably be solved by changing the partition order but I don't really want to do this since I have no idea if the Linux installer will boot if it isn't on the primary partition. Is there anything else I can do to make windows recognise the second partition, instead of or in addition to the first?

Thank you in advance.

I will not question whether this is legal or illegal. This comes from Microsoft:

For non-corporate users there is this from my own experience: I have on occasion run into three or four customers who attempted what is known as casual piracy by installing his XP onto a second machine. I have had to get only one customer out of this mess (about two years ago or longer) but the workaround was easy. (By the time his grace period was up, he had installed many programs and didn't want to be forced to do it again.) We called Microsoft, gave them a credit card number and they worked us through some steps that fixed the problem.

We then rebooted and was asked for a valid key.

I do not remember the steps as it was quite some time back and I saw no reason to keep notes on it.

Microsoft asked no questions about why he attempted piracy. I think they are just happy to get the money.

@lts5548, welcome to the forum. When requesting help you should always include the make/model (i.e. p6-xxxx) of the computer and/or monitor. This information is necessary for us to review the specifications of them.

I had a small issue with my XP Pro...so I put in my cd and of the three options, I selected the first one...hit enter and on the next screen I hit R to repair it....after it was done doing its thing, the computer restarted and showed the installation screen.

When it got to 33 percent...a window opened asking for the 25 product key.

Here is the problem...The real XP Pro cd, I lost but I had made a backup...which is the one I used to do the repair...so I entered in the key code that I wrote on the cd...but it didnt work...it said "product key not valid".

I dont know why it does not work...so I tried the following. I downloaded the "Magical Jelly Bean Keyfinder" installed it on a 3.5 floppy disk, then I put the cd "MiniPE" cd and turned on the laptop...I worked my way to a explorer type app and selected the A: drive...clicked on the Keyfinder app...it didnt find anything on its own..until I clicked on browse and selected the C:windows folder...then it found a XP Pro Key code. I tried to point the keyfinder app to a few different folders but none worked.

I restarted the laptop with the copied xp pro and entered in the key code that keyfinder found...but still did not work.

I dont understand what is wrong. I thought maybe it was because the key code I had was either no good or bad...so I went online and bought a OEM Xp Pro cd...I received it today and entered in the product key from the back and STILL does not work.

Do you think I ne... Read more

A:Reinstall XP Pro, All Product Keys Dont Work

first of all, your computer is not elgible for the new oem xp pro. oem is only for a newly built system that never had an os installed on it.

was the original installed the one that came with the computer? You will either need to go to the computer manufacturers site and get a replacement or if it was a retail version of xp, you can go to microsoft and get a replacement cd.

I took the old harddrive with windows xp and put it in a new computer with new motherboard and cpu. Then I started it up and of course would not work, so I booted from the XP CD and started the "repair windows" option. For 20mins windows repaired itself, then asked for the Product key! Then I realised I have no idea what I did with the old papers that came with the old computer. I learned about the magic jelly bean program that retrives windows product keys, but I cant get back to windows.

So.....my question is, Is there a way to abort the windows installation? If I could get back to windows I could figure out the Product key. When I turn on the computer it just goes to the installation section where it asks for the product key. Thanks in advance!

A:Im moving an XP harddrive to a new computer and dont have the Product key!! ><

The product key should have been on the side of the computer. If you have to, call microsofts activation dept. and ask them.

Hi everyone, In our home, we've kinda of standardized on Lenovo gear (it's also what's used at the company I work for).My problem is that most of these machines run Linux (RHEL, Fedora, etc..) and they're all dissimilar models: M910Q Tiny, P70, Couple X1's from various gens, One Yoga 12. I'd like to know if someone successfully tested putting a bootable distro of Windows on a pendrive, adding all of the .exe's (BIOS updates, Docks, etc...) and flashing the various machines from the same pendrive.(I'd really like to avoid having to burn each .iso separately for every type of H/W that we have). I tried "Gandalfs-Win10PE-x64-Redstone3" from 2018 but that distro failed to run the first Lenovo BIOS flash update I threw at it.I know there's fwupd but not all of my machines boot to UEFI.Any other ideas? Thanks,Vincent
