LIP for Telugu(India) language in Vista

Q: LIP for Telugu(India) language in Vista

All,
Is there any information about when LIP for Telugu would be released in Vista. There are LIPs for other Indian languages but not for Telugu in Vista.

Thanks

Preferred Solution: LIP for Telugu(India) language in Vista

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I need to change PC language from Norvegian to English,

Thank you.

If you have the multi language installation disc, you can change the language during a reinstallation. If it is a Norwegian only, then you are stuck unless you can borrow an English installation disc and activeat with the key that is on the COA sticker (on the bottom of the laptop).

Although I believe there should be LIP for MS Office etc.

Hello,

my first post here.

I am having an issue with language bar. it keeps disappearing from my taskbar, even though right click>Toolbars>Language toolbar is checked.

Sometimes it is there, and sometimes it's missing.

The odd detail is the following: when I start something that requires admin rights/confirmation and screen gets dark as usual and small table appears asking for confirmation. just on the top of the taskbar there's language bar(extended, as if it is in the "floating on the desktop" mode.)

I attach the pics. first when the taskbar is locked, the second when it is unlocked

thanks in advance.

Just do a clean install, booting from your Windows 7 disc, and choose English as the language on one of the earliest screens you see.

I bought my laptop in Korea when I was working there and it came pre-installed with Windows Vista Home Premium Korean edition. I don't speak korean very well, so that's not very useful.

Is it just a case of installing an English version of Vista HP (upgrade version)? I don't want to be told I have to install in the same language and waste my money.

Thanks.

Well, you could do that, but I think a cheaper way would be to follow the directions here: http://windowshelp.microsoft.com/Win...7512d1033.mspx

A:Vista Language packs in W7 - possible or not

Hi Jimbo,

Seven does have language packs. If you have been doing updates it should be included. I hid the language packs because I don't use them, albeit I just checked on the hidden updates and they are there. But, there is not a language pack included for Iceland. Not sure but don't they speak a form of Danish because there is a Danish language pack. Not sure this will help, but here's hoping.

My question basically is, if I install Vista ultimate in english, will everything (programs etc) automatically become English?

Is Vista the operating system & does it dictate the language for the computer?

Also, how do I find out what BIOS I have & whether it supports slic (v2)?

A:Change Language in Vista?

mr wolf,

Here is a Microsoft link that (sort of) explains what the difference is between LIP and MUI.
Windows Vista Multilingual User Interface Pack (MUI).*
Windows Vista Language Interface Pack (LIP).*

If you have Vista Ultimate - you will be in luck - if you have - Windows Vista Ultimate -
MUI is also available for Vista Enterprise -
I have never installed either of these - so not sure what LIP, would be lacking.
"If you are using Windows Vista Enterprise, contact your system administrator for information about installing additional languages."

I have purchased an Acer Pc in Spain with Vista Home Premium. The salesman assured me that I would be able to see all of my programs in English after the shop ran a conversion programme. This has not worked at all. The program did convert most of my windows to English but in the process lost all of the programmes that were preinstalled by Acer. I restored these using a factory restore disc but this converted my Windows back to Spanish. My question is this "Is it possible to obtain a factory restore disc that will install everything in English". I have contacted Acer support in England and they have referred me to Acer Spain. Suprisingly when I contacted Acer Spain they referred me to Acer England.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Hey all

I have heard people say that it is possible, and others says that its only possible in premium and ultimate.

I will need to change the language of my vista basic from English to chines when I get it, and I find it hard to believe that Microsoft would be so stupid and make this impossible, because if it is, I will just buy a pirated Chinese version and never pay for anything that Microsoft makes again.

All though, according to this link: http://windowshelp.microsoft.com/Windows/en-US/help/2bac0e03-c331-48fc-8b7e-b66b8007512d1033.mspx

it should be possible. It says so black on white (or at least gray on blue) "Applies to all editions of Windows Vista.", right under the big blue "Change the display language".

I was wondering if anyone have tried to change the display language with basic ?

thanks in advance

I've tried searching the boards but can't find something like this....

I'm running 3 Windows Vista 32 bit Home Premium Machines all with the same hardware configuration and the basic Vista software as well as AVG 8 Free as the antivirus program and haven't had any problems on any of them.

But a week ago one of the machines started having a weird problem when trying to send out email from Windows Mail - it would come up with an message saying CHARACTER SET CONFLICT and ask if I wanted to send the message as is or as Unicode. And alot of the email that was coming in from online forms (I have a site where people input suggestions, comments, etc) were now showing up as attachments instead of just in the body itself.

I looked around and found that I needed to make sure the language encoding was set correctly in Windows Mail.

But when I went into the settings for Windows Mail to look or change the encoding, anywhere in the program where you have an option to change from Western to Unicode, etc...all those drop down boxes are all blank - General, Spelling, Read...all blank, no options.

I opened up IE7 and looked under VIEW-ENCODING and I only see Left to Right or Right to Left...no language options at all.

In the process of me trying to figure this out, I uninstalled AVG and then installed the Vista SP1, but none of that made any differece. I've reset the IE options to the way they were when the computer was new and nothing. I've searched this forum ... Read more

I just let Vista install some updates, and I came back to be greeted by a blue screen, saying the error was "Windows did not find any installed, licensed language packs for the system default UI language" But the thing is that I put recommended updates, and it's already in English so why would Vista install extra language packs? Is there a way to fix this? It says to put in my Vista CD and select "repair", but I only have restore CDs and I don't see an option to "repair." I can't even get in through safe mode or last working configuration, it still says the error. I really don't wanna wipe the HDD clean, is there a way to fix this? Would getting a regular copy of Vista let me repair it?

Hi, how did you install it? I ask because there are a number of reasons for the language bar to not show. I take it right clicking on taskbar and selecting Toolbars "language bar " is not an option. Under Msconfig does ctfmon show up in your startup's, you need it for the language bar to work. Copy below into notepad and then "save as" call it language.reg and save desktop double click on the saved file to merge into registry Reboot to take effect:-

Code:

I am living in Beijing, China at present and am about to buy a new Lenovo Ideapad Laptop. This comes with Windows Vista Home Premium Preinstalled (Chinese Version). I then intend to use the Free Windows 7 Upgrade Program to acquire Eglish language media

It is clear in Microsoft's documentation that this is not a supported upgrade path.

However, assuming I can get Lenovo to provide the English Language Windows 7 upgrade media, I should be able to do a clean install as per Doing a Clean Install with a Upgrade Windows 7 Version and Paul Thurrot's Method.

In fact this would be the method for achieving any unsupported upgrade path, eg:
Vista 32 -> 7 64
Vista 64 -> 7 32
Chinese Vista -> English 7

Can anyone confirm that this is true, particularly for the language upgrade.

Dave

Further reading has led me to believe that this is definitely possible. Check out the bottom line of the chart image:

Upgrading Windows Vista from one language (e.g. English) to Windows 7 in a different language (e.g. French), requires a custom install.

I've also checked that Lenovo FREE Windows? 7 Upgrade Program asks you both which language and architecture your previous machine is running. So a white lie about having (wanting) the English 64bit Vista should net me the relevant Windows 7 upgrade disks

I'll post once more when I can confirm this on my new machine.

Hello

My Notebook comes from the U.S. with Vista Ultimate. Now I want to upgrade to Windows 7 Ultimate here in Europe.

I heard that an in-place upgrade to Windows 7 is only possible within the same language (e.g. EN-US). Now I worry that I'll buy the wrong Win 7 version.

I know that my current Vista Ultimate is English, but how to find out which one (could be British as well)? Ist there a native OS language at all besides the language I set in the "regional and language options" in the control panel?

And is this important at all? As far as I know Windows 7 Ultimate supports 35 languages, so does it matter at all as long as I accept to install Win 7 in the same language like my Vista is?

Sorry, maybe I'm a bit confused *ggg*. Thanks so much for any enlightements!

regards, Wolfgang

A:Upgrade Vista Ultimate -> Windows 7: OS Language

Hi Drachenstein, welcome to the Seven Forums.

If you want to do an in-place upgrade, you have to have exactly the same language version. Info about the pre-installed OEM version with activation key can normally be found in the sticker in the bottom of the laptop.

If you ordered your laptop from the USA, the OEM Windows Vista most certainly is English. So for in-place upgrade you need an English Win7. To my knowledge Windows 7 is available only in one universal English version; no EN-US or EN-UK versions exists.

I have two simple questions, but I cannot find definitive answers .

>I have windows vista business 64bit (language: Dutch)
>I want windows 7 professional 64bit (language: English)

I am going to use upgrade media to upgrade vista to 7.

1. Can I change the language from Dutch to English if I do a custom installation? Answered: yes

2. Is it a 100% clean installation if I do a custom installation and format during this procedure? Answered: read thread

Ad 1
If you do a custom install, formatting the drives, the language difference between vista and 7 is not a technical obstacle. So it comes down to licensing: does Microsoft accept this?

Ad 2
I do not want to use any 'registry workarounds'. But since people are using them, I'm wondering if a custom installation (with formatting during this process) indeed is a fully clean installation. The different tutorials are very confusing on this matter.

A:Upgrade dvd: vista to 7 in different language using custom install

You can inplace upgrade or Clean install.

If you want a clean installation:
Boot from the Windows 7 Upgrade disc, and at the install screen Choose "Custom" Installation.

Once you get to the install screen, you can format the drive Vista is on, delete and create new partitions .. however you desire to do it.

This is considered an Upgrade Install, even if you wipe the drive before installing, because you have an existing Windows installation when you booted from the Win7 disc.

Is there any utility (or other easy way) to dump the language and locale
settings for a particular system into a file?

The reason I ask is that we support an internationalized product around
the world, and sometimes our users do not get the language behavior they
expect, and we would like a way for them to dump all relevant (and
irrelevant) language settings into a file that they can send back to us.

(It would be easier than asking a user to go through all the control
panel settings and write them down.)

A:dumping the Vista language/locale settings into a file

Typing systeminfo gives input and system locale. To remove other system info
use
systeminfo | Findstr "locale"

Hi,

I purchased a laptop in Italy and all the display is in Italian language.

I followed the steps given in user guide. But the Keyboards and Languages tab does not show Display language dropdown list to choose a language.

I want to change the display language to English. Is there any way to do this ?

Thanks in advance.

Regards
Yuvarani
