Canon imageRunner 1025N Scanning Issue

Q: Canon imageRunner 1025N Scanning Issue

We have a Canon imageRunner 1025N multifunction printer/copier/scanner in our office. Up until today, it was directly connected to one of our office computers through a USB cable. Now it's been networked. One of the functions of this printer is that it could scan in documents to the computer. But now that it's networked, the scanner feature seems to no longer be an option. As far as I could tell with the manual, the scanner will not work if it's networked. My question is that if this is true, can a printer be connected to a networked AND connected to a computer through the USB cable at the same time (without any functionality issues) so that we can scan our documents again? Any help would be much appreciated, thank you. (And if there is no one with an answer, any help directing me to where I could find an answer would be appreciated as well since I cannot find how to get help through Canon's website.)

Preferred Solution: Canon imageRunner 1025N Scanning Issue

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

A: Canon imageRunner 1025N Scanning Issue

You may just need to reinstall the Canon software from the CD and configure the scanner as being Network connect rather then USB. Also the brochure suggests the unit support Scan to Email and Scan to FTP, you can configure that if its network connected, that's generally how most Xerox units are setup at the sites I visit. The Canon website seems to very lacking, you may have better manuals on the installation CD.

But there should be no reason it can't be connected both ways, however the scan to email or a network drive would be better.

I have a Canon IR 1025N installed in a PC and connected via usb. While that was installed winxp pc everything worked perfect even the scanner. But since I installed W7 x32 I could not get the scanner to work me. I installed the driver but then gives me the alert triangle on the device and only allows me to use it as a printer does not recognize the scanner.
I've tried to uninstall the driver and re isntaalr from the original cd in xp compatibility mode. I've also downloaded the latest driver from the Canon page and nothing, unless it be one specific because there are few available and did not know which one to use well.
And I've tried the solution posed in this article:

and nothing.

I really do not know what else to do ...
Any help please?

I recently installed a new USB to IEEE-1284 cable from my new Dell computer with Windows 7 to my ImageRunner 2200. This printer was previously installed on a computer with an IEEE-1284 connection on both ends. I installed the updated drivers for Windows 7 that I downloaded from Canon's website but can't get the printer to communicate with the computer. It doesn't find it in devices and printers. What could be the problem?

I am trying to install the drivers for a Canon Imagerunner 2200 copier, facsimile, etc. from the original installation disk and it does show drivers for Windows XP in a selection list. When installation begins it recommends that I don't continue installation because the drivers aren't tagged for XP. I went ahead with the installation anyhow and the printer doesn't show up in programs. I went to Canon's website and downloaded drivers for the printer and they are unzipped and saved to documents and settings. The problem with this is that I don't know how to install the drivers after they unzip. When I look at all the files I don't see something to run the installation like setup, etc. Any help would be great.

I am trying to send faxes on a Canon Imagerunner 2200 but it fails everytime. It sends a page to me titled "error tx report". It tells me the tx function was not completed. It doesn't show any code though. Does anyone know about these problems?

A:Solved: Canon Imagerunner 2200 "Error TX Report"

TX simply means Send, so you have a send error. Have you check the telephone jack for service? Can you dial out using a regular phone on the fax line? Have you tried a new phone cable? Also has this unit ever worked for you for faxing or has this just happened, and if its just happened to error now then has anything changed?

I'm new to the imagerunner c5870u and it is already preconfigured from a previous tech who worked at my firm-
When i click send it has some people on our network configured to do one click sending to file but for one person it does not work.
I looked at the path it sends to (usernameX/scanned-docs) which i ensured exists on the users computer which it did..
I dont know how to edit any settings on the printer because it didnt come with a manual
basically i just need to get it to be able to send to him.
I do not get an error code which means im assuming its sending the files somewhere
Any help would mean the world to me

Can anyone help with the following problem?
When I use the scanning function, the image (text) I get is almost unreadable in the preview pane. Transferring it to email, it still remains the same.
Some time ago I checked with Canon support and they advised me to adjust the MAPI settings in the email program. Got no idea what they are talking about. I don't think it is an email problem as the scan is not successful before sending it to Outlook.
I have adjusted various settings, but the scan is the same - unreadable.
Has anyone else had this problem, and, any suggestions?

I have just downloaded the MP navigator in order to scan from my Pixma MP160, which I have had for 3 years now, but have never used it for scanning. Click to expand...

I can scan a document, but the only options are to save it as either a TIFF or BMP file. The only option that comes with the OCR function is to set the language. I don't see anyway to save it as a txt file and Notepad doesn't "appear".

Sounds like OCR is not installed... no text option
Do you have M$ office ??
If so .. scan as a tif .. then see
M$ Office >> Office Tools >> M$ Office Document Imaging.
This will read the tif and save to a Word.doc file, then you can use Spell Checker ..etc .. to clean it up.

M$ Office Document Scanning .. Will probably run the scanner in the Office OCR mode.

The issue is simply everytime I've used Etrust virus scan when in Internet explorer (have to be) I minimize it, and when I bring it to normal it's fine, but minimize it and bring it up when it's in the Java folder it freezes, should I do an individual scan on the Java folder to see if it has viruses or just make it a special do not scan folder and un-click it when scanning?

A:Solved: Etrust Viruscan does not like Java Program folder: not virus issue but scanning issue

Hi, Often the applets stored from Java usage will trigger either a detection or an issue as you are seeing from antivirus scanners.

I'd suggest clearing the Java cache: see the attached screenshot, your version may be slightly different but you should be able to see where to look, and what to do. (The attached pic is from a slightly older version of the Java...the steps below are up to date, though)

Control Panel> (Switch to Classic View)> open Java

Find the Settings tab/button, and open that...then find the Delete Files button and click that.
It's just deleting the temporary files left from Java applet usage.

Then, after clearing the cache, run your scan again and see if it works correctly.

I hope this is the place to post this question. The digital photography/imaging was a possibility but was not sure.

I am running Windows XP - Home. I received an HP Scanner/Printer for Christmas and yesterday I scanned in some medical reports for my mother. I then e-mailed them to her for her records.

The problem comes in when I view them on my computer the resolution is horrible. It looks very blurry. When I printed a copy out from her computer - it came out of the printer real fuzzy and not crystal clear like the original report from the doctor.

How do I rectify this problem?

I'm having a problem with wireless scanning, which I think may be a wireless networking issue.

For about 18 months, I've been using Quicken with two HP Photosmart all-in-ones - a 6180 and a 7280 - in Windows 7. (Quicken allows you to scan documents and attach them to individual transactions.) I recently had to replace the older of the two, the 6180. I tried four devices - an Epson, a Canon and and two HP's - and found that none of them worked with Quicken wirelessly. With other software - PaperPort, MS Office Scanning - I had mixed results.

As they all had their problems, I decided to keep the device I liked best, the Canon Pixma MX882. One of the reasons is that it has a duplexing ADF; also, I found their tech support to be slightly more responsive than Epson's, and HUGELY more so than HP's (which should come as no surprise). In fact, one of Canon's senior tech people spent an hour and a half with me, but he couldn't get it to work.

Here's where I am now - I can only use Quicken with the device through a wired connection, and then only with the WIA driver. I can use the Canon driver (which allows me to use the duplexer) with PaperPort and MS Office, but, again, only wired.

The Canon tech felt it was most likely a Windows 7 security or permissions issue, but couldn't suggest how to get around it. The odd thing is that the older HP's have worked fine (the 7280 continues to do so). I remember when wireless scanning first... Read more

I've used Avast! for at least 2 years. Beginning 2 weeks ago, I started getting the message "Some files could not be scanned" at the end of a scan. Looking at the log revealed that all the unscanned files are in the system restore folder (C:\System VolumeInformation\_restore\. . .). The error message on each file is "Error: Archive is password protected (42056)". It repeats for EVERY file in the folder, including .png, .js and .gif files as well as the actual RP files.

I tried turning system restore off, which zaps all the restore points, rebooting, then creating a new, single restore point and running a Quick Scan. Did not solve the problem; every file in the folder is still "off limits" to Avast! EXCEPT when I do a boot-time scan (which runs before Windows loads).

Posted the problem on Avast's forum, but got no explanation. I realize it does not mean anything is infected, and it's not critical that Avast be able to scan the RPs, but the fact that it started doing this on 11/14 and now does it for every scan signals that something in the OS or in Avast has changed. Or might this have something to do with the fact that I have SpywareBlaster, a program that "immunizes" some registry items so spyware can't alter them (most HOST files)? Could the last update for that program have contained a change where it now immunizes the RPs?

Anybody have a clue as to what has happened here?

Hi, folks.

Installed the Epson WF 4740 All-in-on printer last week, added to my home wireless network and it is working fine for printing from all three laptops on the network. Copying and scanning at the printer are working as well. Also scans successfully to a USB key inserted at the printer.

Problem: Menu has option to send scan to a PC on the network. Says Document Capture Pro software must be installed to do this, which it is. But when I try to do this, menu shows "Cannot find computer". The menu has another dropdown to select a job, once the computer has been selected, and on my PC I have a couple saved jobs (scanner settings), but the printer won't detect them. I suspect if it would find my computer on the network, I could select one of my saved jobs, and the scan would end up on my computer.

I can, however, trigger a scan using the Document Capture Pro software on the laptop, and it works fine, including the scan winding up on my PC. However, if my PC is in another room, I have to go to the printer to insert the original, then go back to the PC, start the scan, than go back to the printer to grab the original.

Called Epson tech support, went through the usual steps the "tech" was reading off a script. Finally put me on hold, talked to "senior tech", said I need to make sure port 2968 is open on my wireless router, as this port is used by the printer.

Just after some help with the MP780 on 7 x64.

The printer is plugged in via USB to another machine on the network. On the 7 machine I am running through the add printer wizard, which finds the printer and looks for drivers.

The first problem is that it can't find the MP780 drivers on Windows Update, which I think it should.

After it fails there, it asks to find the inf manually. I have downloaded the drivers from the Canon Australia website but that's just an installer. I have also downloaded drivers from other random driver sites but it just gives me fax and scan infs, nothing else.

Any ideas for me?

A:Canon MP780 Driver Issue

OK if you can install this it might work - make sure the driver package is unzippped to a folder - or just select the setup.exe file and do the following if it wont unzip - this resolves an OS mismatch when the driver wont install on w7

To install a driver OR program in compatibility mode - right click the setup.exe file - click properties - click compatibility - check run in compatibility with vista/xp etc - check run as administrator - leave the rest blank. Start setup.exe and install.

Driver page v6.20 - to download firstly click on the file, go to nxt page then - under disclaimer is download - select "i have read the instructions etc" then select download -in "red" and then click save

If that doesnt work try installing it thru device manager and pointing to the folder the driver is unzipped to.

I have Vista Home Premium and a Canon MP160 multifunction printer. I have the latest drivers installed from the Canon website but for some reason, the MP Navigator vers. 3.02 for Vista is not working.

This program is for the scanning function of the printer and after install, when I double click it, I receive an error that says 'The scanner driver supported for this software is not installed. Install it and then retry.' So I uninstall everything and then reinstall but the outcome is always the same. The printer function works perfectly but the scanner function is not working. I have even tried as a last resort the MP Navigator for MP960 printer but I receive the same error.

If everything were running normal, all I would do is press the Scan button on the printer and this MP Navigator is supposed to automatically run and help me with the scan function. When I do press this button, there is no response at all. I have even restarted after install but to no avail. I right-click the icon for MP Navigator and change the compatibility mode to XP and to start program as an administrator and result is always the same, 'The scanner driver supported for this software is not installed. Install it and then retry.' I search the Canon website for this scanner driver but there is nothing! Help! Please!

Greetings Everyone,

I have hooked up a Canon DR-3020N Document Scanner onto a Dell OptiPlex GX400 with a Pentium 4 1.8 GHz, 512MB RAM and Windows 2000 Professional SP4. The scanner is properly recognized in both the Device Manager of the Control Panel and the Imaging Devices of the Control Panel. The SCSI also recognizes it as the boot process goes and it is assigned as Device 1.

The problem is that no matter how many times we Uninstall/Reinstall, the TWAIN driver will not function. We receive the following two errors:

Cannot communicate with the scanner. Check status. Scanner driver will be closed.

Cannot open the TWAIN driver. make sure the TWAIN driver is not opened in another application or scanner connection is proper.

Canon USA has probably the worst website for support. Also, they do not seem to carry any later drivers for this model since the original v1.0 which is also the same as the install CD. Anyone have any suggestions?

Hi guys.

Thanks in advance,

A:Solved: Canon Mp830 Issue

I will assume that you are testing the systems with a phone (clicking sounds).

Having both had a computer/fax/printer set up before, and also having many years of selling and setting these beasts up for customers, the first thing I always tell the folks who read the manuals is - Forget what the FAX tells you, as it probably won't work right.

General rule #1 - if you are a dial-up service with a computer/FAX/printer system, the COMPUTER should come first. This is logical anyway, since if the computer is online, you wouldn't be getting a FAX anyway. Now, if the Modem for said confuser has only an 'IN' jack, but no 'OUT', then you would be using a line splitter at the wall so that neither FAX or computer are first in line.

First though, with that phone, I'd test all plugs. First plug the phone into the wall to see if its a possible bad phone line. Then only plug the FAX by itself and see if its working with the phone plugged into its 'OUT'. Then, if possible, I'd do the same on the modem for the confuser. If all function, and the system allows it, the daisy-chain should be WALL JACK to MODEM IN - MODEM OUT to FAX IN - FAX OUT to PHONE/ANSWERING MACHINE.

Good Luck!

Hello, need help!

I have a Windows 7 64-bit PC. I have downloaded the S820 driver from Canon's site, but it keeps failing on me. The PC recognizes the printer, but as an USB device. It won't let me print to it. It only gives me 3 options when I right-click on the printer - Create Shortcut, Troubleshoot, Properties.

I was told the INFCache.1 file was causing issues with USB devices. I went and deleted that file, unplugged the USB plug, reinstalled the driver, plugged it back in. It recreated the INFCache.1 file and it tried to install the printer, but it failed.

I thought it was a compatibility issue, so I tried the XP driver, Vista driver, etc. and none of those worked.

I haven't worked with Windows 7 much, so Windows 7 gurus, please help out a n00b.

Gracias in advance.

I recently picked up a Canon MF3110 printer/scanner/copier. All is well, but one thing troubles me about it. The scanner lamp stays on all the time, and I can't believe that's really correct. Does anyone else have one of these units, and does their scanner lamp stay on in PowerSave mode?

lve been looking high and low for a printer drivers for the printer mentioned in the title..

while l have found a 32bit driver l cannot find a 64bit one and the installation program keeps on telling me when l try the 32bit driver lve found that its not for 64bit OSs, and all the compatable software l have located seems to be just that.. addon software for those who actually have the printer driver.. which isnt exactly helping wouldnt be an issue if l was running a 32bit system.

anyone know where l could pick up an actual driver for the canon IP1900 printer that works on a 64bit version of Win7, any help would be greatly appreciated as lve been looking to no avail for the last 3 hours.

Don't think you're going to find one. According to Canon,

FAQ: To use the product you are using in the Windows 7 environment

Answer :

< Applicable models>

iP Series

iP1900, iP2600, iP3600, iP4600
The software supporting Windows 7 for the above models and how to install them are shown below.

Printer Driver

To be included in the OS.
Connect the printer with the computer, and power ON; the driver will be installed.
To use some unavailable functions, download Add-On Module to install it.

My Printer
Solution Menu
Adobe RGB
Easy-PhotoPrint EX

Only thing is they doesn't specify if that applies to both 32 bit and 64 bit, or just 32 bit.

I purchased a Canon L170 FaxPhone laser printer only to find out that Canon does not make (nor plan to make) a Vista 64 driver.
They claim "The current available driver download is for Vista x32. Regrettably
there is not a workaround for compatibility between the L170 and Vista x64. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience this causes."
Surely there must be somewhere I can get a printer driver so that I can install this L170 printer even if the driver is not full featured.
 Any help would be appreciated.

If the company that makes the hardware elected not to make a driver, some enterprising developer would have to try to write one independently. That's highly unlikely. I suggest returning it while you can and looking for a device that supports 64-bit Vista.

Help! Please!

lol, thanks for viewing my post.

I have a canon i9900 printer. It was working fine until a day ago. It began to print in a stutter step fashion - each line looked like it was attempted to print 2 or 3 times - giving a lined/shadowed effect. I did a cleaning of the heads and replaced the black ink. The "stuttering" stopped, but now my printer will not print anything in black. I did a cleaning of the heads and deep cleaning to attempt to clear the problem. I ran the cleaning program 10 times and the deep cleaning another 10 time. I also changed out the black ink again hoping to correct the issue. The printing still does not recognized the black - the test stripes are kind of a gray green. The print pattern shows group one faded and the top line of gray only prints the lower half of the block. Any ideas on how to fix this would be much appreciated! Thanks
