Replace/Upgrade WiFi Network Card + Add Bluetooth

Q: Replace/Upgrade WiFi Network Card + Add Bluetooth

My PC doesn't get detect 5GHz and the increase bandwidth from my router, so I want to replace it. But before I take it apart, I want to make sure that I can do so and buy the right parts. Is this possible, and if so what should I get? I also want to add bluetooth as I remember the website had an option to do so, but bc the Costco Set Config was cheaper, I went that route instead. Is it possible to do this internally w/o an external part [like a usb dongle] PS. Here is the Product Number: C8P47AV Is there like an installation/repair guide for my laptop model too too?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

A:Replace WiFi PCIe card with WiFi/Bluetooth combo card.

Given that there will be no antenna inside the system for bluetooth, you're better off with one of these:

There are no such adapters -- not for notebooks anyway.  You need a PCIe card - not M.2.

Hi: The easiest thing to do would be to purchase an external usb wireless network adapter. This is the one I use on 3 of my HP business desktop PC's that are running W10. It is dual band as well, so it works on both the 2.4 GHz and 5.0 Ghz wireless bands. https://www.amazon.com/Linksys-Dual-Band-Wireless-N-Adapter-AE3000/dp/B007ZLGXA8

So I've had an Acer v5 522p for just over a year now, and within the past 2 months, the wifi has gone from bad, to horrible, and yesterday, to non-existant. I've done what every other thread on this board, and other boards have said: reinstalling drivers, disabling bluetooth, disabling the power management on the wifi adapter, and I even did a factory reset. Nothing. So, I'm now looking to either buy a USB wifi adapter, or preferably just get a new wifi adapater card and replace the Atheros AR5BWB222. But, I have no idea whether the motherboard has a whitelist on replacing wifi cards or not, any thoughts? Thanks!

A:Can I replace my wifi card?

Hi,Sorry for the Wifi Issue, Yes the Wifi Card in this model is replacable,. Wifi Mini Card,. You could get the same from nearby Computer stores, I would go for USB receiver as its simple to use. Cheers.

I've had a lot of problems with my wifi card for like a year so i want to replace it, i did some research finding the manual with the info and the part number https://download.lenovo.com/consumer/mobiles_pub/lenovo_y40_50_series_hmm.pdfThe problem is that i have an Atheros ar956x card which is not listed there so i want to know if i can replace it with another one from the manual, i was thinking the intel 7260 would be nice because it also has dual channel (the atheros doesn't) but even if i could i don't know if i can get a new one because of the "part number", they are quite expensive for me compared to other ones like this http://www.ebay.com/itm/04W3806-Intel-Dual-Band-7260NGW-AC-BT4-0-WIFI-NGFF-Card-for-IBM-Lenovo-lapto... because i am not from the US and the shipping cost is quite expensive for me.tldl: could i replace my atheros ar956x card for the intel card on the ebay listing or anything similar.

Hello. Earlier this year I buy a second hand Thinkpad x240. It is provided with a Realtek RTL8192EE wireless card. This card had two problems:- No 5GHz- A firmware "cardboard-based" (frequently disconnected) I planned to replace this wifi card and chose an Intel 7260NGW. It was difficult to know which card is accepted, but I read in some place that the Intel 7260 is accepted on Thinkpad X240. But after a try, this card is not accepted. The computer is blocked by bios  So, my question is simple: Which wifi card can I use on my Thinkpad X240?

A:Replace wifi card on a X240

Hello and welcome,

To pass the BIOS whitelist a card must be a listed model AND have a Lenovo FRU number.  A "generic" 7260 won't pass.

The models and FRU numbers are listed in the BOM:

Hello Everyone  I just need help with my Y730 15inch model wifi card. I saw someone replace that as Intel AC 9560 on their Y530. So I thought that should work on my laptop too. I replaced with 8560 once. But I could not find that card in my driver manager. I mean somehow there should be a device logo with yellow thing there, right? (I did not install the software driver at that time.) Therefore, I come to ask if anyone has an idea what should I do first? I mean, should I install the driver before I replace it physically? Or, should I replace it first, install driver and reboot? I am still not 100% sure Intel AC9560 will work on this laptop. Also, I want to ask I do not need to reinstall windows when I replace the wifi card, right?

A:Y730-15 WiFi Card replace

Most laptops have a whitelist of cards that can be installed, so while you laptop may support the AC 9560, it would have to be a Lenovo branded one to work, which for the Y730 is FRU P/N:  01AX768 Here is one that is compatible with your system.https://www.ebay.com/itm/Intel-Dual-Band-Wireless-AC-9560NGW-bt5-0-Card-For-Lenovo-01AX768-hp-937263... Once you install the card into your system, you just need to install the driver below and it should be detected Intel WLAN Driver for Windows 10 (64-bit) - Legion Y730-15ICH, Legion Y730-17ICHhttps://download.lenovo.com/consumer/mobiles/mdlg03af08rb.exe Cheers,

hi sm222,

Sorry to hear what happened,

The Wifi card that you should use should be on the whitelist and it should have a Lenovo FRU tag on it.
This is the list

Technically the model should match together with the Lenovo FRU tag

I just upgraded my laptop from Win 8.1 to Win 10 Home Edition and after it was done just for curiosity sake I took a peek inside the Device Manager. Everything looked ok with the exception of " Sound, Video and Game Controllers - Bluetooth Audio Device " . I right clicked on the " Bluetooth Audio Device because of the exclamation mark and selected " Properties ". The box popped up showing the device couldn't start and it gave the reason. This is where I'm stumped and would like to know what to do to fix it.

I didn't know my machine was Bluetooth enabled but according to the device manager it must be. ( see snap ) How do I confirm it? I'd like to be able to transfer some om my photo's to my phone if possible.

Thanks for your help.........

I have a Sony Vaio Pro 13 SVP1321M2EB and upgraded from Windows 8 to Windows 8.1 when I bought the laptop about 8 months ago. I had no problems with it until a month ago ? after an automatic upgrade of 8.1 my Bluetooth adaptor disabled itself automatically and then uninstalled itself. I reinstalled a Bluetooth adaptor and had no problem for a week or so. Then the wifi connection would come and go and I would have to troubleshoot every 5 mins to get it working again ? I thought it was due to our internet because it?s satellite and very slow. Then both the Bluetooth and the wifi adaptors disappeared. I have reinstalled Intel Proset Wireless but my computer won?t recognise it even though it appears in Control Panel and now they don?t even appear as Hidden Items on the Device Manager. I have uninstalled and reinstalled both adaptors both through the Sony support site and directly through Intel numerous times and still nothing! I tried to go back to Windows 8 using the reset/refresh through the Assist button but I am told ?the drive where Windows is installed is locked?. I don?t know if it?s a hardware problem or a software problem?I have searched and searched everywhere online and done what has been suggested but still nothing! Advice please - thank you!

I am building a car PC out of an AMD E350 motherboard (link below...), which has mini PCIe & SO-DIMM slots as opposed to standard expansions & RAM. It is a simple, low power system, ideal for the application. I believe Win8 is the perfect platform for the application as well, since it works nicely with a touchscreen-oriented interface.

I bought a WiFi/bluetooth combo card off of eBay (link also below), but thus far, the WiFi isn't working. The BT works fine, but the wireless does not.

I verified that the driver is installed & working in Device Manager, but Windows does not give me the option to connect to a wireless network. In my Network Connections dialog, it only shows the wired LAN and the BT.

I am willing to accept the fact that the wireless driver is not compatible with Win8, but also wonder if it is a problem with the card?

Motherboard - Giada Mini PC_Mini-ITX MI-E350
WiFi/BT card - HP Wireless WiFi N Bluetooth BT Mini Half PCI E Card SPS 602993 001 RTL8188CEB8 | eBay

A:Trouble with WiFi/Bluetooth card

*update*

Actually, I just double checked, and the driver is NOT installed for the Wi-Fi card. I was looking at the driver for the regular LAN controller. I was tricked because it is a MoBo integrated LAN controller, but the driver labels it as a Realtek PCIe.

I did download the driver exe from Realtek and I also tried the one from HP. Neither seems to load the WiFi functionality of this card.

Also, if it helps, the card is a Realtek branded for certain HP laptops.

I have 3 Probook 4530s Laptops. They have i5 CPUs USB 2.0 and 3.0 ports along with bluetooth 3.0 and HD display. The WiFi adapter speed  is 150mb on 2.4 gz band. At this time they all have 4g RAM and 1Tb hhd installed. Can I replace the internal WiFi + Bluetooth 3.0 adapter to pickup the speed and both bands? If so, can anyone tell me what adapter I need to me looking for and what driver. I do not want to loose the bluetooth in all of this as I know the kids will want to use it.This whole building project I guess is my way of telling them that I'm with them if they need any help. I recently upgraded from Windows 8.1 to 10 with my XPS 13 (9343) laptop. Before the upgrade, I had no problem with any of the following devices with Windows 8.1. After the upgrade, I started experiencing the following issues:
1) Wifi: After restart or waking from sleep, I had to reconnect to my home network.Automatic reconnection was enabled and network adaptor's power management was modified but reconnection did not work well.
2) I had serious problems with my Bluetooth, especially with BT headphones. Once paired, it seemed to be working. However, after disconnecting and reconnecting, the headphones got connected but I did not hear any sound. Later, the headphones did not get connected but kept going to pairing mode but the Bluetooth setting showed that they are already paired. I am using a Bluetooth mouse. Interestingly, if I turn off the Bluetooth (from setting) and turn it on again, my Bluetooth mouse never get connected again.

Regarding the Bluetooth mouse, it works as well.
Regarding the Bluetooth headphones, they worked for a while but I suddenly lost sound. Settings window showed that my headphone is still connected and audio playback device still showed that my Bluetooth headphone is active. I simply lost sound. My desktop stopped connecting to the internet a few days ago following months of taking 20 minutes to connect (to Verizon FIOS). After discussing the problem with Verizon tech support, it appears that the problem is with my network card. Because our laptops connect just fine, I accept this conclusion. Here's my question - When I go thru control panel to my Intel Pro/100 VE Network Connection and run diagnostics, it passes EEPROM, Control Registers, Interrupt, PHY Loopback & MAC Loopback. It fails Link. Now LINK is the ONLY item on the troubleshooting information page that does NOT say "If the test fails, replace the adapter". What it does say is to make sure the cables are securely attached and to try a different port, which I already did while talking w/Verizon.
Should I replace the adapter? Thanks, Velveedah

i have been through about 3 wifi cards in the spand of 2 laptops looking for the best range and speed without the interference. i had a realtek dualband wifi card with bluetooth and i sold that to get a a Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 7260 expecting that this would be the top of the line in wifi standards. i mainly sold my realtek because a issue with buletooth, if im using the wifi and i connect my bluetooth headset to the laptop the sound would be choppy and laggy. so when i got my Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 7260 i was amazed that this "was" no longer the issue. i connected my HBS-900 and walked out my apartment and down the hall and the bluetooth was clean! but it seems that now perhaps driver change the bluetooth on my Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 7260 is also bad. i cant even step 2 feet away from my laptop without it cracking to hell, at 3 feet and not facing the laptop i disconnect. it was never like that before and i know its not my headset because when i connect it to my phone its flawless, and i connected another bluetooth adapter and tried and its fine. the issue is that when the wifi is on theirs too much interference and yes when i connect to a 5g network the issue is greatly reduced but for me 5g is mostly not a option. i was wondering if theirs a such thing as a shielded internal wifi? wouldn't think so... i would just love if i could use the bluetooth and the wifi flawlessly. i already for another reason plan to get a Alfa AC1200 external wifi adapter... Hi  I have a new HP Notebook - 15t-ay000 and purchased a dual network card from HP parts to upgrade from the original single network card.

I removed all the screws from the back including the ones under the rubber  but could not get the back cover to come off.

I watched the u tube video that looked like my model but hesitate to over pry and break the  pc.    I did NOT remove the
cd drive as it did not say to remove the cd but wonder what the heck Im missing.

It appears pretty simple...LOL

Your thoughts or video link are appreciated

thank you

Hi, Remember that making changes to a new computer can make you lose warranty, check the pages 54 and 55, especially 6. Remove the bottom cover (see Bottom cover on page 38) http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c05087748

Hi everyone, I just signed a contract with Fastweb for the optical fiber 200 mega-bit, I have noticed that the network card installed into my notebook does not support 5GHz networks, so I would replace it with one that supports that frequency. I wanted an advice about it, who can recommend some network card for my notebook? The model of my notebook is a 15-hp envy k203nl and installs a network card Broadcom bcm43142. I thank those who want to advise me.

A:Advice to replace the network card on the HP Envy 15

Here is the Service Manual: Manual There is good news and not so good news. Good news is you can use any wireless card that is the correct shape and size (form factor) but don't get excited yet.  Not so good news. See page 56 of the Manual. First thing: replacement of the wireless card is a major undertaking. It requires a lot of disassembly. Second problem: your laptop probably only has a single wireless antenna. You can see on p. 56 the one dual band card offered by HP is only on the 17-inch models not the 15 inch like yours. Only the 1 x 1 Broadcom and Atheros bgn cards are offered on the 15 inch. 1 x 1 does not necessarily mean it only has one antenna but only a 1 x 1 card can work at all with just one antenna. So to even tell for sure what you have you have to open up the laptop. Assuming you have 2 antenna cables we can advise you on an upgrade to a card that will work in the 5 ghz band.  This is the card you have. https://www.amazon.com/HP-753076-005-802-11bgn-Bluetooth-combination/dp/B01MDJIQPK/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF... This is a mini-pcie form factor and if you have 2 antenna this would be the card to get: https://www.amazon.com/Intel-7260-HMWG-R-Wireless-AC-Bluetooth-Mounting/dp/B00MY9S692/ref=sr_1_1?ie=... Post back with any more questions.  If this is "the Answer" please click "Accept as Solution" to help others find it.

hello there, i have recently upgraded my service to 200mbs with a dual band smart router, modem and router capable of 1000mbs, after upgrade i come to find my wifi card only recieves 2.4ghz channel, its pitiful that my cell phone can get 140mbs on 5ghz and my new laptop can only get 100mbs via ethernet and less than 20mbs wireless, i took it to the local computer store and he did not want to touch the machine because this model is extremely hard to get into and i have read that if it only has One antenna i would have to disassemble the display aswell , so i am basically asking several questions, (1) can i upgrade to a card that is 2 x 2 A/b/g/n/AC 867mbs  like the intel 7260 or 8260 (2) does this machine have the required 2 antennas so i do not have to take apart the display?. i find it ludacris that this machine came out in 2016 and is not capable of reaching passed 100mbs, i would have never purchsed it, i intend to keep upgrading speed as long as my ISP keeps giving me good deals on service, i pay $60 for 200mbs.....card is realtek RTL8723benf Single band 2.4ghz 100mbs......thank you in advance

@joseph1979 From what I have found unless you have 2 antenna cables you can not use an AC card. Your manual here. http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c05228250 Look at page 2. You could check to see if you do have 2 antenna cables. HP Pavilion 15-au000 Notebook PC series - FRU Remove/Replace Videos https://h20574.www2.hp.com/results.htm?SID=10862158&MEID=8BC6A844-F67A-49EE-B31C-F599C8D7DFED Click on Wireless Module. REO

since I upgraded to Windows 10 my wireless driver is no longer compatible with Win 10 OS and continuosly drops connection which requires a wifi reset and most times a restart. HP no longer supports this product and no new drivers were made available after Windows 7. after some research it was suggested to use windows 7 drivers but those drivers weren't copatible either, my present card is an Intel 4965AGN MM1 full length mini pci-e 3X3 mimo, I need a wireless card that is compatible with my laptop hardware and has current drivers that are compatible with windows 10, can anyone help to resolve this problem?

Hi I upgraded my home routers to AC 5ghz so i decided to upgrade my laptop's built in 300mbs wifi to modern standards.the wifi works great at full speeds consistently the bluetooth only works after a full power cycle.if you goto sleep mode or hibernate and power back on bluetooth no longer exists.I have spoken to online chat here and i have spent hours and days trying clean instal of windows 10 pro and upgrade/downgrade of the drivers etcI have even purchased another adapter and it gives me the exact same problem.I have read 100's of forums and one thing that strikes me is a whitelist for biosis this item on the whitelist or not - is there something i can do before i get really cross with this laptop.ThanksPaul
