Lenovo Ideapad fresh install Windows 8.1, no wifi-connection

Q: Lenovo Ideapad fresh install Windows 8.1, no wifi-connection

Hello Lenovo forum, I have a problem. NO WIFI (even after install drivers/reboot) Last week I bought this laptop: https://www.expert.nl/lenovo-ideapad-310-15isk-80sm017smhAll good, only thing I didn't like was Windows 10 OS.So I bought a serial for Windows 8.1, downloaded the .ISO on Microsoft website, installed it on USB-drive and installed a fresh Windows 8.1. So all CLEAN.Like always first thing is to start with install Drivers of course. So I downloaded Everest and put it on USB-stick. (Easy program to show which hardware)I already checked on (this computer>manage>device manager) and saw there same; Realtek pci family controller for Network.(Now I wanted to check it before posting this but since I just deleted all drivers 10 min. ago, since didn't work, I no see any visible.) But I'm pretty sure it was Realtek PCI Family Controller. So I downloaded the drivers from the Realtek website, and installed it. Rebooted, but still same problem.Anyway I saw also that Motherboard says: "Unknown" on Everest so I think I need drivers for that also but don't know which ones? Same for some USB drivers but I think this is included with Motherboard. The problem is that I just can't choose any Wifi.In Manager the only option is: Flight mode: On/Off (=Off)Bluetooth: On/Off (=Off) I don't see Wifi.I'm trying for hours + yesterday so hope find solution here, otherwise I will install Windows 7 and try that. Thanks in advance!

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

Hi,

I did a fresh install of Windows 7 on my daughter's Dell portable computer. It came with Windows 8 installed and she doesn't like it. I cannot get the computer to recognize my Wifi connection which is with Verizon FIOS. My Dell XPS 720 desktop works just fine after a fresh install of Win 7.

This is a Dell Inspiron M731R laptop computer.

I have found and installed several network & LAN drivers but nothing works for connecting to the internet with my WiFi wireless Router. I can and am connected to the network with an ethernet cable. Just no wireless connection.

Here is the system info:

I am having trouble trying to get my wifi to work. All this happen right after i fresh install the os.
I never had this problem before until now. Usually, it would be working right after a clean install but i guess
my luck ran out. This happen ever since i bought myself a Macbook Pro Retina. Maybe my laptop is very jealous -.-

It is Toshiba Satellite T115D-S1120

I tried web searching, tried driver install but it didn't work.
Any help will be great.

A:Limited Access (WiFi Connection) after fresh install Windows 7

Plug it in via ethernet cable to your router or modem, enable Automatically get recommended drivers and updates for your hardware (Step 3) and watch for driver to be installed in bottom-right System Tray. If it does, run all rounds of Important and Optional Windows Updates which should deliver your other drivers including wireless.

If not in Device Manager click on Network driver for wireless, on Driver tab have it Update Automatically.

If that fails import the Wireless driver from the Support Downloads webpage for your model PC using the Serial Number or model number, choosing Wifi or Wireless LAN and the bit version. Download the isntaller, unzip, rightclick on Setup to run, or browse into the driver folder from Device Manager>Network driver>Update driver>Browse.

If you have problems with any of this let us know.

Hi, I recently upgraded the Storage with a WD green 120 GB M.2 SSD. Post upgradation, i installed Windows 7 into the new Drive. After dealing with several error messages and trying all workarounds the system was able to boot and became a working machine again.  I accidentally formatted the eMMC i.e. previously my C: drive and faced a lot of difficulty in making it work. However happy that finally the system is back to its normal working condition. The only problem i am facing now is, i am not able to see the 32GB eMMC card in Disk Management or in MY Computer. Though the same is visible in Advanced Troubleshooting during pre-boot (Repair your system Option) . Though the volume is visible and is empty there, its not visible inside windows explorer after windows starts. Though it doesnt affect the system's performance now, i would like to use the 32GB memory. I tried looking for the driver but not didnt find any. I am currently using Win 7 Enterprise. My next attempt would be to upgrade to Windows 10 and see if that resolves the issue.  Please Help !

Hi, I have been trying to install a fresh version of windows 7 64 bit on my laptop, but really getting nowhere.

I copied the ISO on a USB flash drive using rufus: NTFS file system.

My Setup configuration:
USB Legacy - Enabled

Boot Mode - Legacy Support
Boot Priority - Legacy First
USB Boot - Enabled

On the Legacy options slightly lower down I see two option, SATA HDD and SATA ODD. I see nowhere to select USB drive as the boot option.

When I enter boot menu my options are as follows: SATA HDD, SATA ODD, Windows boot manager with my SATA HDD name. I dont see a USB option to boot from?

"Secure Boot" is an option mentioned in some forum posts, but I cannot find this option in my setup.

Another thing I read was disabling USB from the boot exclusion list. This is another option I cannot find at all.

The guide from lenovo site here https://support.lenovo.com/za/en/solutions/ht500207 shows a different BIOS menu that I see on my laptop.

I just need a simple fix, why is this so complicated

I've been extremely frustrated with both the screen flickering and crashing during sleep issues.  I figured before I buy a laptop from another company that I would at least try a reformat. I was expecting devices to not be fully installed after the reformat but Device Manager does not show any issues.  PC is also running fine besides the fact that the trackpad doesn't right click properly and the resolution is off which probably can be addressed by installing the proper drivers.  What else should I install, though?

A:Yoga 2 Pro - fresh install of Windows 10 - what should we install from Lenovo's download page?

Download/install Lenovo System Interface Foundation for Windows 10 (32-bit, 64-bit)...IdeaPad.... That should install, among other things, Lenovo Vantage (ex-Companion.) Use its System Update function to find drivers/updates, download and install them on your system. You don't have to install everything but if you have "screen flickering and crashing during sleep issues" then I'd make sure to at least get the latest chipset, display, video, power management, etc. drivers.

P.S. If you suspect that particular driver(s) may be causing issues, then install them one at a time to identify which one(s) are bad.

Just before the July 29 deadline I updated my Lenovo G40 IdeaPad to Win 10.
Everything appeared fine except that I couldn't get a WiFi link!
Eventually Lenovo "support" advised that there was no available WiFi driver for the G480.
Desperately, I had to uninstall Win 10 and revert to Win 8.1.
Can anyone advise on this. I find it somewhat unbelievable that there isn't a driver for the G480 model - it's not that old.
If anyone can help, I also need advice on how to update to Win 10 beyond the July 29th boundary
Thanks

Hi, I have been having problems with my wifi connection since one of Windows 10's updates and want to do a fresh install of windows, to start over from scratch. That said, I have a SSD and caddy available, which i'll use to swap with my optical drive. I have seen the following article on backing up my laptop's recovery partition:https://support.microsoft.com/en-ie/help/4026852/windows-create-a-recovery-drive That said, I have a few doubts:1) Regarding activation, will anything change? Since I'll be creating the recovery from my computer's partition, I don't think I'll have any problems with that. Just wanted to be certain.2) Does this recovery partition relies on already having the system on the HDD? Or, if I remove the HDD with the recovery partition and install a blank one, will the USB recovery drive that I created using those steps still install Windows correctly?3) This recovery partition is affected by windows update? I mean, does windows update "embed" its updates in the recovery partition or will I get a "fresh from the box" install? Thanks!

Laptop: Lenovo Z70
OS: Windows 8.1 x64
Issue: After wiping the drives and installing a fresh OEM copy of Windows 8.1 via a DVD i purchased, I can no longer see my SSD in my partition manager. The SSD was working prior to the clean installation.

Clean Install Steps:
I had to change the drive mode from UEFI to Legacy in the bios and allow it to boot in legacy mode as default. This was done to allow booting from the DVD. Also I had to turn fast boot off.
How do I obtain access to the SSD partition again?

Hi fellow helpers, In urgent need of help (I guess everyone is in need of that over here) I have two questions.  1. I purchased the Lenovo Ideapad 500 15ISK laptop in October 2016. I regisitered it on Lenovo support in December 2016, however i noticed that my laptops warranty runs out on 7th February 2017. Its been 4 months since I purchased this laptop and the warranty was for 1 year. How is this possible that it runs out in 4 months? 2. I have been having problems with the laptops wifi connectivity. While I am browsing the internet, for some reason the webpage keeps on loading for 2-3 minutes before loading completely. My old laptop, tablet and work fine without any delays. I have virgin media 50MB. I have updated the drivers but still no solution and this occurs few times everyday. It is starting to really annoy me. Any help would be greatly appreciated. ThanksJackson

I have a Lenovo Edge 15 on Windows 8.1

The new laptop came with preinstalled software and drivers. However I prefer to do a fresh Windows 8.1 install without the Lenvo drivers/software. After doing fresh install, I prefer to go to Lenvo's support site and download and install the drivers manually.

How can I do a fresh install? The OneKey feature will for sure will install the drivers/software from the hidden partition which I don't want. I know Windows 8 has the reset feature, however, I am unsure if it will also install the drivers/software from Lenovo.

Also, I want to ensure that the reset feature won't damage/delete the hidden OneKey partiation.

Is it possible to do a fresh install without doing it from USB?

A:Fresh Windows 8 Install without Lenovo Drivers/Software

the onekey (recovery) partition contains the factory out of the box image.. And yes doing a Reset with onekey will rewrite all the factory software, drivers and bloatware..

If you wish to keep the factory setup for future use - Create a Recovery Drive - first..

Then you can do a clean install of windows 8.1 from USB or DVD and install the MFG's Drivers..

You can download 8.1 here > Create installation media for Windows 8.1 - Windows Help

Hello,
I recently formatted my HDD and reinstalled Windows 7 on my PC. However, I can no longer connect to the internet through Ethernet (no WiFi option). I've changed the ethernet cable but to no avail.

I have a Asus P5N-e SLI motherboard, and I have installed the nVidia nForce 650i SLI driver which includes Ethernet drivers. When going to Network Connections in the control panel, there is nothing showing.
I don't have the motherboard installation disc any more. I've tried googling the issue and a lot of answers suggest installing the drivers which I'm sure I've done.
In the device management, there is an unknown device with a yellow exclamation mark which I'm assuming is the network card.

Any help would be great as I'm running out of ideas! Thank you

Hard drive crashed, so installed a new one. NIC worked fine before, though I remember a couple times in the past where the NIC stopped working when copying large files over network or streaming movies off of it, though a simple reboot fixed that. So the possibility of flaky hardware exists.

Windows 7 Pro x64. Installed chipset drivers and LAN drivers (it has an onboard RealTek adapter, which wouldn't work with generic MS drivers.)

It goes through the identifying process, but then it says no internet connection. I check ipconfig, and rather than having a 192.168.x.x address it shows a 169.254.x.x address. I checked to make sure it's setup for automatic IP addresses, which it is. If I manually disable the NIC, or use the Windows Troubleshoot tool, it hangs the system completely once it tries to reset the device. Same thing if I try to disable it through Device Manager, or even to uninstall the driver.

So seems to be an issue with it not being able to communicate with the router or DHCP server. I tried to ping the router IP and it just says it fails.

I've tried to manually assign it an IP (outside of the DHCP range) and no dice.

Tried different ports on the router, as well as a different cable, though neither should really matter because they both worked fine before.

Odd thing is, it DID somehow work a couple times, both times I managed to uninstall and reinstall the driver manually. But then after rebooting, it fails again. These are the latest d... Read more

A:Fresh Windows 7 install, LAN connection issues

Have you tried resetting your router to factory defaults? you may have run out of IP addresses, they are not unlimited and are usually capped to 249 active sessions, but sometimes they reserve these "active sessions" for returning devices to the network, a quick reboot of your router might do the trick.

I recently built a new rig. I installed Windows 10 on the M.2 SSD, and installed Windows 7 on a separate SSD. Install went fine, installed all the board drivers and activated this copy of Win7.

The trouble: As soon as I try to download a file, the internet connection speed drops to nothing. I can browse the internet just fine. At first, I thought it was a problem with the Intel network adapter, so I purchased a USB wireless adapter, installed it, and, the problem persists.

I tried running speedtest, and the speed starts out fine, right where it should be, but within 15 seconds or so, it drops to nothing.

Literally, ANY file I try to download starts downloading fine, and then nothing.

I've turned off Windows firewall. I've tried running in safe mode with networking. I've uninstalled my virus protection all together.

I'm at a complete loss....any suggestions would be appreciated.

I also reinstalled windows 10 on the same system but on that the display starts to fickle as soon as i install the drivers for display.(That i think is some driver issue from lenovo as earlier it was working fine) so finally decided to install windows 7 on the system.
when i start installing windows 7 on the very begining of the installation it says (netstat:windows can not find a network adapter /network drivers )
So can anybody help me in this regard that which are the drivers i should use during the installation and where to find them as these drivers are the installation drivers not the simple .exe drivers.

But it is an old installation, and, when I try to download the ISO from Windows using the product key and S/N, I'm told: "the product key you entered appears to be for software pre-installed by the device manufacturer." When I go to Lenovo, the customer support number did not call me back. Looking through the docs, I am less optimistic that there is a supported way to do this. Has anyone gone through this and can offer any advice? Thank you,Patty

Hey, I'm installing windows XP onto a 500 g SATA hard disk that I just installed into a Dell Dimension 9100.

I have an .iso file that I need to place onto a DVD to serve as the OS boot disc. My DVD-R is in my Mac. So i need to burn this .iso file on the mac but have it boot the PC..

What is the proper file extension for the dvd file? is there anything I need to do that I'm missing?

Hi I was unfortunate enough to buy a Lenovo laptop for the first time two weeks in Kuala Lumpur. It wasnt too long before I realised that the laptop had a serious problem with the Wifi. The internet connection either runs very slowly or not at all, i'm using my old trusty HP laptop at the moment and there are no problems at all, even my cheapo smartphone works better than the Lenovo. The model is Ideapad 310-14IKBModel name 80TUS/N PF0Q5ZXD After a little research(wish I did it before I purchased) I found out that the older Ideapad 310 is plagued by bad Wifi, but it shoudn't affect the new models, this laptop says it was manufactured on 18/12/2016. Two years international warranty came with the device, so I am planning to visit Lenovo when I return home. In the meantime is there any quick fix for this? It's driving me mad. Thanks

Hi all,I changed the Harddisk at my T410 and Re-Installed Windows 10.Everyting works fine but I have no Wifi at all. Itīs not even displayed as possible network.I did the following myself to find the problem: - Checked the BIOS - Ensure that the drivers are the latest- Did run Lenovo System Update  The network card is a Qualcomm Gobi2000Thanks in advance for your helpRegards,Thorsten

A:No Wifi after Re-Install of Windows 10 at my Lenovo ThinkPad T410

Hello and welcome,

I believe that Gobi card is a WWAN card, not the wifi card.  Have a look around Device Manager for a wifi card - maybe as an unknown device.

Also make sure the switch (on the left front?) is turned on

Hi there,I bought this laptop in early 2017. Within the last 6 months various different wiifi issues have happened and I'm about to throw this thing out the window. It is an Lenovo ideapad 100s running Windows 10.The issue is as follows:The wifi will either not connect, or stay stuck at attempting to authorise. If the wifi does connect it will disconnect very soon. This does not happen with all wifi connections but its happening with my current home connection. My android phone, and my roomates laptops all connect to our wifi no problem. My laptop will connect to other wifi connections and my phone hotspot. So far I have tried the following and none have worked.Reset TCP/IP Stack.Wi-fi Power options.Reinstalled the wifi adapter.Updated the drivers.Disabled Remote Differential Compression.Disabled 802.11n mode.Reset the ipconfig, released, renewed.Updated router firmware.Turned off firewalls, removed anti-virus/malewareDone a network reset.I'm currently posting from my laptop connected to my phone hotspot.Does anyone have any idea how to fix this issue?Kind regards,John.
