Q: show wrong size of a file in properties

hi guys..
is there a program or a way to change the size of a file?i mean for example i have a music with 4mb and i want to when anyone watch the propertise of this song , it shows 10mb to him???

Preferred Solution: show wrong size of a file in properties

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

When I insert a CD in either of my two drives the window that jumps up giving me the options of what program to use (CD Properties ) is maximized and takes up the whole screen. This just started happening. If I double click on the top blue titlebarlbar it goes back to it's smaller (normal) size. I tried holding down the ctrl. key and closing the window but the next time the computer boots it does the same thing. It is not possible to drag this type of window in any way. The only option for this type of window in the upper right corner is an X to close it. It may need a registry edit but I don't know how. To access a similar type window open "my computer, right click on any drive, the window that opens is the same type. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks for the help in advance.

I have a folder (actually many) that give the wrong size in MB. Right clicking on a folder and selecting properties pops up a dialog that has the size listed as 11.5MB (12,163,992 bytes). Last I checked 12,163,992 bytes = 11.6MB. Why does windows report an inconsistent size.

I need to understand where windows got the 11.5MB from.

PS I was going to upload a screenshot of the property dialog but could not figure out how to insert a picture into this forum.

I have this problem that's more an an aesthetic issue than anything, but it's rather annoying. I have my icons set to be rather large on my desktop, and I download custom icons for everything to match. About halfway through the day, about half of my icons were small, for no reason. I've tried refreshing my desktop, restarting, deleting the icons and remaking them, and changing the icon, then changing it back and none of that has worked. There has to be a solution I"m not aware of, and an internet search hasn't helped. Any suggestions?

Image Properties - Attribtes V's File Size

Was uploading a image over at http://xs.to/ and there is a max. 2 MByte per file on .jpg files.
I had images that I know are under 2 MB but then get a error telling me the file is too big. I look in my ACDsee image viewer and look at the file size in window and I was way below 2MB so did not understand what was going on.
This was on a image I did Bygum posted. So I changed things by making it grayscale 16 bit but it was saved grayscale 8 bit and it got the size down below 2 MB.
But the I open the 3 images up again in PhotoImpact and clicked on Image Properties and your see that there are two sizes for each image. The file size is what your see in windows, image viewer etc.
So my guess is that http://xs.to/ the limit of 2 MB is not the file size but the Attribtes size.

What is all this on having the two sizes because I sure don't understand it.
Look at how many time bigger the Attribtes size is.

So anyone know what this means?

Hello Friends,

Over the past few days I have noticed that my Folder Properties (Right Click > Properties) doesn't show the 'folder size' or the 'number of files/folders' the folder contains.

In the General Tab of the Folder Properties the following is displayed:

Size : 0 bytes
Size on disk : 0 bytes
Contains: 0 Files, 0 Folders

Everything else works fine. This problem is specific to the folders. In case of files all details are shown as usual.
In fact when I bring my mouse over the folders the tool tips DO show the folder size and also names of files they contain.

Also this is not because of the folder being empty or anything as this problem is for ALL folders invariably including the Windows folder.
I have tried using Command Prompt. The 'dir' command can list the folder size with no problems.
I also have all requisite permissions as I am the admin. Also UAC etc. is in place.

Additional Details: I have no problems moving folders, copy pasting etc. whatsoever and the computer is working totally fine. Only this problem stumps me.

Please help.

Running xp pro sp1 NTFS. I use an external usb2 box and in that box i have a maxtor 200 gig hard drive. I use this for archives. I put files into one large folder until its around 4.5 gigs. Then i burn a copy of that as well so i have a copy on dvd and a copy on this hard drive.
All is well except that the folder reports around 2 to 3 gigs when it should be around 4 to 4.5 gigs. But when i go inside the folder and use edit\select all, right click and go to properties, then the true size is properly listed as i mentioned above, around 4.5 gigs, give or take a few hundred mbs.
The usb 2.0 box is about a year old, so i dont think its the technology inside the box doing this, and its also a name brand, "Ads". I believe its the os doing this so, after a search failed, i am posting in win xp, but i have no proof that its an os problem and my expertise ends right about here, so if anyone can help me out with fixing this or explain why this cant be fixed, i would appreciate it.

I really need to get one of my files from my computer to another computer in a different house. It's an .mdf file and it's only 4.06 GB. So I tried to burn it onto a DVD, but it only reads as 72 MB. I also used xdrive.com and tried to upload it onto there temporarily, but it still is being read as 72 MB. What's the problem?

A:Wrong File Size problems

Create a File Folder with the "New" command.
Then drag the .mdf file into it.
Then right click on the folder, then scroll down to the bottom of that folder, and click on properties.
Regardless of whether it is 72 mb or 4.06 GB, select the folder add it to the copy list.
Now copy it as normal.

I installed Windows 8.1 on a different hard disk, and am setting my most preferred settings on this new installation. According to the attached picture, I noticed that I was able to add this bottom grey bar that states the total size of the files in this folder only (kinda like how it was with XP), and completely forgot how to add this feature to File Explorer.

Do you remember how I did this?

A:Show The Total Files' Size In A Folder In File Explorer

I just read my post and it actually sounds a little confusing. What I meant to say is that I've been using Windows 8.1 and have managed to add that bottom part to File Explorer in Windows 8.1. I installed a fresh version of this same Windows 8.1 on a different computer, and am trying to remember/research how I was able to add that grey bar down there. Hi all!

I've just recently began to use the jump lists more and more. In general they work fine but I use VectorWorks and I imported a .pdf into the application. Now the jump list only displays that imported .pdf but not the .vwx files native to that application. I'm pretty sure the jump list worked correctly before the import, but since I've come to rely on them just recently, I can't be a 100% on this.

How could I fix this and make the jump lists display the correct types of files? Just opening a native files with VW doesn't work as they do not become "recent files". I'm at loss here.

Hi I use Vista64 SP1 on my HP HDX Dragon laptop

Recently I had a problem with Nvidia drivers and I used CCleaner to remove some leftovers from the registry - Maybe that is that is cause of the following problem:

In "Programs and Features" several programs in the list report a wrong size (for example 63GB instead than 1GB) and a wrong installatio date (one is supposed to have been installed in 2042) -

I also have some icon problem, some icons are mismatched in that list (but that may not be related because it happened in the past and I fixed it by using a small program called rebuildIcons.exe.

What can Ii do to fix all that?

I finally got my phone to stay connected via bluetooth and of course I no longer have any hair to pull out.
now I am trying to import my contacts to the phone, which I gather can be done with a bluetooth connection via some sort of PIM that the bluetooth software recognizes. For the life of me I can't find any explicit reference to any particular PIM software that the Windows 8 bluetooth Properties dialog recognizes. Or, have I misunderstood the capabilities here? Do I have to buy and install Outlook?
I am unfortunately using Thunderbird as email & contact manager, but I've exported my contacts via .csv in the past so If I can find the appropriately compatible PIM for Win8 Bluetooth I think I can muddle through.

Any help would be ever so appreciated.

If there is a thread or other site that already deals with this, my apologies and could you point me in the right direction.

A:How do I get a PIM to show up in Bluetooth properties?

When I connected my iPhone to an HP laptop with 7 installed, it connected my phone via Bluetooth and all my contacts were right in there. All of my Audio output was sent to the laptop. It was kind of interesting, I was able to call someone from the Desktop and use the mike and speaker to talk.

I believe it saved all of my contact information too, I had to delete the device from the laptop to remove them. I was kind of alarmed at the massive amount of stuff that is on my phone that showed up.

I;ve connected my iPhone to a Macbook running Bootcamp Windows 7, but it was never as complete as I saw it on the HP. Maybe the support was not included in the bootcamp drivers. But on an OEM Windows 7 system, everything was there.

You have to go into Devices and Printers and pull up the properties of the phone. Of course I don't know what kind of phone you are connecting, but my iPhone was completely accessible (as a phone and Audio Device) in that system. It makes me want to get some kind of Bluetooth card for mu Main PC so I can connect my Phone up while I am working and that way I can hold conversations right from my workstation.

By PIM I take it you mean Personal Information Manager, all of your contacts and numbers and email addresses? The Contacts should all be there in the device Property Sheet, just look around.

Basically what I am saying here, is that an iPhone when connected to a Windows Computer via Bluetooth, creates it's own interface, you don't need any extra software ... Read more

I am having Acer Aspire 5052 ANWXMi-Turion Laptop.

I have Windows-XP professional service pack 2 installed on it.

I am facing two problems in it:

1. If I go to My Computer and try to open any of the drives (i.e C, D, E & F) by double-clicking the drive labels, the drive is not getting opened.
But I am able to open the hard-drives using right-click-->open. This double-click problem is not happening anywhere else like in other folders etc.

2. The second problem I am facing is that I have 1GB of RAM in it(2 each of 512MB), but when I see System Properties it shows a RAM of 768MB but if I go to
System Information and check the Total Physival Memory it shows as 1024MB.
I would be really greatful if somebody can help me in resolving these issues.

A:Wrong Display Of Ram In System Properties

Hi .The memory differential...is probably caused by the fact that part of the physical RAM installed (1GB) is being used for onboard video. The System Properties info reflects the net of total RAM installed minus such allocation. What do you see if you go Start/right-click on My Computer and select Properties? Should be 768MB, if I am right. There is a setting in the BIOS which you can use to adjust the amount of RAM so used. You can set it for a lesser amount. If you only do normatl things, there is no reason to allocate more than 64MB for onboard video, IMO.http://www.ehow.com/how_2138456_configure-...rough-bios.htmlSorry, but I have no answer for your first question, although I have seen the answer posted in this forum before.Louis

Hi, CPU uses a technology called SpeedStep technology. It won't run its full speed if NOT required and it can bump up its normal speed when required. More information:          https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SpeedStep Regards.

Good afternoon!
I received a new ViewSonic 15" flat screen monitor for a gift and while it takes a while to get use to my main problem is getting the font to be bigger, especially in my Outlook Express, and my various Instant Messenger tool bars. The optimum resolution they recommend to have for the color is 1024 x 768 pixels and when I do that it makes all the fonts extremely hard to read even with my prescription glasses. The crispness of the font is a little off also as a little bit blurry. Any suggestions to improve my viewing capacity under this resolution? I've changed the font sizes under appearance in the Display Properties. Thank you in advance if someone can help me out.

A:Display Properties - Font size - Flat Screen Resolution

If that resolution is not good for you, change it. Put it on whatever makes it easiest for your eyes.

ClearType may help with the bluriness, http://www.microsoft.com/typography/cleartype/default.htm

we have a FX ApeosPort-II C4300 fuji printer. we recently updated to Office 2007 from Office 2003.
When we were using Office 2003, i was able to specify paper size for the document i wanted to print in printer's properties, however, since updated to Office 2007 i can't. Actually, i can specify the paper size by choosing custom print then edit the size i want to print but as soon as i click okay button and reopen printer properties i can see paper size did not change. I have already changed the paper size in page set up by the way.
I checked the our printer's properties and it shows under security tab for everyone can "print" section clicked. But "Managed Printer" not clicked. Only power users and administrators have that privilege.
so my question is: the reason i can't specify paper size in the printer properties because i am not a power user and don't have administrator privilege?

Off the top of my head, I'd be inclined to think you simply need to update your printer driver. Have you done so lately?

I have a really weird situation here. I have two audio devices, speakers and headphones, both connected to my computer. The headphones use a usb and a audio slot and the speakers use only a audio slot. When I go in properties, they show up backwards. If audio is playing through my headphones, it says they are playing through the speakers. This really hasn't been much of an issue because it hasn't really effected anything but now I'm trying to optimize the settings of these devices. If I try to enable higher bass quality for my headphones under "headphones" in the audio section, it enhances it for the speakers. But for both devices there are different options to enable or disable so I can't use them on the correct device. I know what I'm saying probably doesn't make sense but let me put it like this. Under my headphones there is an option for optimizing "Headphone virtualization," but I can't actually put it to effect because it applies for my speakers (which seems to do nothing), and under my speakers I don't get that option. So basically what I'm saying is I can't optimize my audio devices because there is some sort of weird error.

I am trying to verify the contents of two folders on my network using Windows Explorer.  I will attached a screenshot as soon as they verify my account.
In the left pane, is my original folder selected (\\NAS02-4DD\usbshare1-2\Archive\Metal Building\A & S\Drawings\NSDrawings) and then I right click and hit properties to see the file count and size of the folder.

In the right pane is the copied folder selected (\\NAS02-4DD\Archives\0Arch\Metal Buildings\A & S\Drawings\NSDrawings) doing the same thing.

You can see what the properties are by the two respective NSDrawings Properties windows.  They do not match.  However, if you physically count the files, and even look in the bottom left corner of each window (after I hit CtrlA) you will see there
are indeed 902 files in each folder.  I have re-booted all 3 machines associated with these files, and can not get them to ever read the same when I view the properties of each folder.
This is a HUGE problem when it comes to trying to verify if my files have indeed copied in full from users computers to a new N.A.S. unit.

Is there a solution or other way to verify this information without having to open each folder and view its' contents manually?  I am going to be moving about 8TB of information around, and all of it needs to be verified after moving.

Thank you.

Sorry for wasting time, I should have inspected the drive more closely before posting.
