Vostro and GoBack3

Q: Vostro and GoBack3

I am trying to install GoBack3 Deluxe on my Vostro 1700, running XP Pro and am getting a crash requiring System Restore to recover from "A serious error has occured".
Is this incompatible? Anyone else tried installing GB on a dual core? And what other restore software is there that compares to GoBack that I might try if GoBack probs are a compatibility issue?
Thanks
Sam

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Does it really automatically update itself, so that if my computer crashes or gets a huge problem and won't work right(or even boot up), I can use it to restore my system to how it was before the problem happened?

Or is it just a "glorified registry backup" program? (like Win98's regscan\restore, but on steroids)

Is it true that I don't even have to know WHEN the problem occured or WHAT caused it? and will make things "perfect"(nearly)again as it was before?

I think Roxio's GoBack3 is a great program.

But am noticing that what it does to one of my dual boot operating systems(W2K and Win98) , it does to both of them.

If I defrag one O/S, it wipes out the revert point history for both of them.

If I chose to revert back to an earlier date because of an error that occured while using one of my operating systems, it reverts BOTH operating systems back to that date.

Is there a way to make it "partition and/or operating system specific"? Or does everything have to be done to the entire hard drive(eg., Both partitioned operating systems)

(I tried that last night to put my operating systems on separate hard drives to remedy this issue, but am having Lots of problems doing it)

A:does GoBack3 HAVE to revert both of my dual boot systems?

The deluxe version might, but I'm not sure myself. Check out Roxio's site to see the deluxe version's features. There is a place at the bottom of the page where you can email a question to Roxio's customer support. If you do email, let us know because you have got me curious too!

i have to hard drives and both have complete versions of win XP pro on them.and whichever drive i use to boot up with is automaticaly changed to the C: drive and the other to E: .when i install goback it makes you have to have both drives protected by goback and whichever of the 2 drives i install goback on works fine when i use it,but if i try to switch to the other drive (the one i did not install goback on even though its still protected by goback) i get a fatal error before it starts up and the computer shuts down.this must be caused by the hard drive letters switching between c: and E: but i need to figure out how i can stop it so i can use goback as that program kicks #$%. any suggestions?thanks in advance

I apologise for the length and complexity of my problem. There are a lot of elements to it, and my ignorance shines through all of them. Also, I have a tendency to be a bit verbose.

I bought a second hand Dell Vostro 360 last year. When I got it, it was running windows 7, but I used the free upgrade to windows 10. It worked OK for a while, and then it started having boot problems. It would hang and give me a blank screen. I checked the disk and after a long while it came up with an error on the hard drive.
So I put it to one side for a few months.
My wife suffers from Menier's Disease, which as well as balance problems, has caused her to lose 100% of her hearing in one ear, and over 70% in the other. Her hearing loss is degenerative, in that it gets worse over time. She hasn't been able to listen to music for four or five years, and we haven't had a real conversation for about four years.
We have started using Google Docs Dictation, on a laptop, and it's great. So much better than nothing. There are problems but the improvement in our life is phenomenal. We decided that it would be good if we could use the Dell Vostro 360 all-in-one as a dedicated machine. I would hang it on the wall, (next to the TV), buy a wireless microphone, get it to react to voice commands (sleep, wake) and make the text large enough etc so that she can read it as she does with sub-titles. All of which I should be capable of.

However the first thing I need to do is to get the Vos... Read more

A:Dell Vostro 360

The Dell Vostro 360 All-In-One Desktop appears to originally come with Windows 7 Professional 64-bit.
What's the exact 7-character "service tag" number on yours?

Buying a second-hand 2 TB SATA hard drive on eBay wasn't a good idea because you have no way of knowing what condition it's in and how soon it'll fail.

If that Dell was already running Windows 10 Pro 64-bit before you started having issues with it, doing a clean install and getting a fresh start would be a good idea.
If you download and save the Media Creation Tool, then use it to download and save the appropriate Windows 10 .ISO file, then burn it to and create a bootable install DVD, you'll be good to go.

The "Fall Creators Update" Version 1709 Build 162xx upgrade will be released next month, so that means a new updated Media Creation Tool will made available, so you may want to wait until then before doing a clean install of Windows 10.

Hi, as stated I have a Vostro 200 Slim, I bought an Asus EAH3450 PCI-e low profile, card works ok on another computer, in the Vostro I don't get any video, if I change the VGA conector to the onboard video with the computer on there's a screen saying that I must disconnect that cable and connect it to the new card, which is what I already did, its like the onboard video keeps detecting the monitor even if it isn't plugged in anymore, any ideas??? TIA

A:Vostro 200 PCI-e Problem

I found  a solution. Well, for the Vostro 220, but I think it will work for your issue. Go to my computer and right-click - select manager. Expand display adapters and then right click on the first one and select disable. Mine is an Intel (not sure on the specofoc model). Then reboot the PC with your VGA or DVI cable connected to the Nvidia card. You might want to check the BIOS to see if you have the PCI-express card enabled on boot. This was under my advance chipset options. Then install the Nvidia drivers if they have not been installed. I have an Nvidia Quad 290 PCI-e and have done this with a 280 PCI. I only have this issue with Vostros as I have done this with HP's and was easy plug and play, install driver. After the reboot alter your graphics options through Nvidia control panel. Hope this helps.

Firstly this system is no tested with windows 10, we would not suggest you to force upgrade the system as you will not have the appropriate drivers for the same which will give you more issues.
We would suggest you to the install the same Operating system as it has been working fine with the system configuration.

Always best to update to the latest version of BIOS before upgrading the CPU. If the version you have now doesn't support the new chip it won't boot after you swap chips.
NOTE: Make sure you know if this system actually is compatible with Intel Core i3 2120 (2nd Gen).  I don't know. And even if you have the latest BIOS, it still might not support that chip. So search these forums to see what CPU upgrades other users have reported...

Reboot and immediately press F12. Look for the option to run the Diagnostics. Run the extended hard drive tests. Copy the error message, if any...
If no HDD errors, you may have to repair Windows (what version?) using a bootable USB stick...

According to Dell, the Vostro 230 desktop only supports 4GB (2x2GB) of DDR3 RAM. The purpose of this post is to list 4GB sticks (with model/part numbers) that I have personally tested to work in a Vostro 230 desktop. I will keep the Vostro 230 I have on hand and update the list periodically as I test more RAM.
Disclaimer: I cannot guarantee that the RAM that worked in my Vostro will work in others, due to different motherboard revisions and BIOS. This is intended to give people a pool of information to help determine what works and what doesn't.

hello, can someone check out my hijack this log and see what my next step should be: I'm cautiously trying to get my son's laptop (vostro 1510 with win XP) back from a state where only safe mode would work, it froze up at the log-in page. Once I removed the password in safe mode, I got to the desktop but it froze up. By starting in diagnostic start-up, I gradually moved up to selective start-up where I am now (unchecked all programs except for bitdefender total security and all microsoft services). In between all that, I got numerous blue screens (they all had different tech info i.e. 0x0000007a or 8e or f4 or 77 or 7f; a couple had "kernel data inpage error" or "kernel stack inpage error" and the last couple didn't refer to any kernel error), and frozen state always happened when the power shut down after standing idle (I then changed power option to monitor never turning off). I also managed to get it scanned for viruses and spyware using bitdefender, got all that off, I think............ lots of it ! and ran the bitdefender registry cleaner. Right now in the selective startup, nothing is freezing.

hope something obvious shows up here.....thanks for any help.

Dell Vostro 1000 (which had Vista Home Basic).

This laptop had no issues, but I wanted to install a new OS.

I have done ("several times") a complete reformat and fresh install with a Windows 7 Professional, as well as, Vista Home Premium.

I have updated BIOS and Chipset drivers as well. The PC was not doing this prior to any reformat or full install, so its only after these processes

The screen continues to blackout, but the PC is still running. I do a hard power off and it comes back up, but continues to have the video go black constantly. I have read on the forum about this issue, but I have done all it states to do to try and remedy this problem.

Any help in resolving this issue, would be appreciated.

I don't see anything appealing in the review you posted. It has Intel video, which is commonly known for poor performance. You might need video performance because you would do a lot of graphs. ( I think, for a stock trading business )

Hi all,
I have a Vostro V131 with BIOS version A05 (released in 2012-03-02). I access Dell site to check if has new version for V131 model and saw that A05 do not exist more . At Dell site only have a version A04 with release in 2014-07-14.
What is wrong with A05 that is not more available? Is A04 more recently that A05?
Best regards!
Mario

parts department told me to contact technical support to get help with part that is needed. But there is no way to contact them. I have a picture of the internal layout of my vostro. All I need is the cable to add the additional hard drive! Help?

A:add additional HDD to vostro 430. Need Cable

You need a standard SATA data cable that can be found in most any PC shop or online. Shouldn't cost more than a few dollars.
One around 18" probably should work. Measure the length of the SATA cable for the existing HDD to see what will work, not too short, not too long...

A:HELP PLEASE WITH MY VOSTRO 1500 LAPTOP

Press F12 a few times after the power button and boot to the Dell diagnostics.  Run an extended test on the hard drive - which you will likely find returns a failure code, meaning the drive has failed.

I recently bought a Vostro 5568. My config came with a 1TB harddisk. It has an extra slot for a M.2 2280 SSD. And therefore I bought a Intel SSD 600p 256GB NVMe disk. But the laptop doesn't recognize the disk either in windows or bios. I have tried different settings in bios but no luck. I have tested the SSD on a other system and it recognized the SSD. So either its my configuration in bios that wrong or its a non compatible SSD.
What SSDs does Dell support? Is I doing something wrong?
