I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

Hi Lenovo Community! I'm having some trouble with my Lenovo B560 notebook after upgrading from Windows 7 to Win 10. The problem's with the touchpad and scroll. With the new touchpad driver (Elan smart pad driver dated 2015), the touchpad isn't working properly, it hesitates and stops in the middle of the motion. With an older driver (2010), the touchpad works just fine, but the scroll goes only down. When I scroll down, it goes down normally, but when I scroll up, it also goes down, only faster. I couldn't find any solution to this on the internet although I have seen the same exact problem mentioned regarding Windows 8 on the Microsoft forums, unfortunately with no solution. Can anyone help with this problem? I would very much appreciate it! Thank you,Domat

A:Lenovo B560 notebook Scroll problem with Windows 1...

The touchpad issue has been the bane of Windows 10 since its roll out.   The problem seems to center around Windows 10 wanting to use the Microsoft driver no matter what is installed by the end user.  It also has something to do with "touchscreen" and "guesture control" that interferes or over rides touchpad operation, especially with "scrol pads" that have sensing areas on the edges of the touchpad for scrol up/down options.
The only soulution seems to be using the built in windows driver and two finger guestures for up and down scrolling.  Microsoft seems to be dead set against changing this for some reason.

I just Install Ubuntu 16.04 On my B560 after a total crash upgrading to W10. Fantastic OS, superfast load and everything working smooth but a single small issue. It seems the CPU gets overheated. Not sure if cause the 4.4 version of the new Kernel or any other reason as power management in the mother board. I cant find Direct dowloads to Linux drivers. Have tried some searchs on the knowledge base but didnt found anything really helpfull. Any idea?, any links around? any information about where to find them.I know by the Ubuntu site that they partner with Lenovo and all Lenovo's shipping in India comes with Ubuntu Preinstalled instead of Windows ( a much better option i will say ). Any helps , post found, links etc will be much appreciated.

Hi, I have a Lenovo B560 laptop, and I've had it for almost 2 years now. I remember I didn't have wireless when I baught it, it just didn't detect any wireless ever, and then after months, it just did. I don't know how it happened, but for a while I could detect wireless. Now I formated my hard drive and reinstalled windows (7 , 64-bit)  ..and I again don't have any wireless connection, no matter where I go. Can you please help me figure this out? Thanks a lot!

A:Lenovo B560 - No wireless!!

Hi tezebe,
Welcome to Lenovo community Forums!
Since you just did a reformat you might need to check the Device driver for the Wireless adapter.
You can check under device manager, try opening network adapter ans check if you will see intel, broadcom or atheros that says wireless.
like this:
If there are none then you should download one from here. try checking the drivers or you can call Technical support about what wireless came with your computer by providing the computer serial number.
After installation, Check your wifi switch if it is On by pressing FN+F5 on your Keyboard to switch the wifi on/off.
Then try reconnecting..
Please let me know what happened.....
Hope this helps,

Just got my Lenovo B560 laptop around April 2011 just for school purposes and it just started crashing on me.

Scenerio - While using it, it will randomly start making a ticking/clicking noise. This is then followed by the blue screen crash dump error. Give it a minute or so and it will then go black (slight lit screen) then a new error message pops up basically saying no OS found. Then I power down, let it boot up again and choose to start Windows normally. It takes a long time but it will boot up and then I can use it again until I hear the ticking/clicking sound and the cycle continues.

Recently the laptop would not start up.  It is a G50-45 Model 80E3.  It has power and certain lights would come on, the screen would not show anythig but seemed to get power since it had a slight white or grey background to it.  The machine would then flash a light next to the webcam and looked like it was trying to restart since it woudl go throgh the whole process again lasting about 25 seconds.  with the cover off i noticed the fan starting and runnign until it tried to start again. I have tried taking out the battery and then pressing the power button for 20 seconds to drain any residual power but no luck powering it back on either with or without the battery installed .  I took off the cover and noticed that when the machine tries to start the fan does come on, the HDD spins. I reseated the components such as the memory and the hard drive with no luck.  I removed the memory and started the laptop and the POST test revelaed by beeping that it did not have any memory present.  I reseated the memeroy and the same thing that I described earlier happened. Before I purchase a new laptop is there anything else to try?  Thank you.

Hey this is my first post as I'm new here. I have been having an issue which has been going on for several months.

Every 30 minutes, to the second, my laptop completely shuts down (I have tried running in safe mode too). No matter what programs are running, or aren't, it continues to shut down.

I have made a work-around, where I put the computer to sleep roughly every 28 minutes, then I wake it. This seems to reset the 'timer'. Lately it seems my computer will not sleep properly, or it will not wake from sleep (power button starts slowly blinking, not pulsing, green to black), however I think this is a different unrelated issue.

Things I have tried but have NOT worked: Running without battery, re-seating RAM, new thermal paste (I thought the problem originally had to do with the system temperature as it was getting quite hot), I have made sure there are NO TIMERS for sleep, or shut down set for the graphics card (NVIDIA Quadro 2000M) or in Lenovo Power Manager. I have made sure my drivers are up to date and that my BIOS is also up to date.

One more noteworthy thing; I had problems with my WMI event registration/viewer as it caused my computer to crash at completely random (minutes to hours, even to days) times. I ran a script I found (from a reputable website and I did a backup first) to fix this error I found in my event viewer (it did fix it). The 30 minute shut-downs did not happen immediately after I ran the script, but rather about a week later, perhaps t... Read more

Thank you for your valuable time.

A:problem with audio drivers in laptop - lenovo R60

It's a clever Microsoft trick to hid audio away from \Device Manager. Go back to Control Panel and click on Sounds and Audio Devices. If the pages are mostly greyed, no audio hardware is being recognised so you may need to go into the BIOS menus to enable it. Post back first if you need details on that. If the Hardware tab has relevant information, please post it back here, or visit the Lenovo website to see what's on offer.

Reverting back to an older driver fixes the problem.I have noticed that the most up-to-date driver available on the product support web-page is from 7/13/15. Is this because newer drivers are incompatible with this laptop? If so, when is Lenovo planning on getting a newer driver to work?I purchased this laptop to play games, and it appears as though I will soon be unable to play new games because this laptop cannot support newer drivers. Thanks, Dan

In addition, if the WWAN driver is not installed, the model of the WWAN card should show under Device Manager > Other Devices.

My wife's daughter has an HP Pavilion dm4-2070 notebook with Windows 7 Professional. It had been working properly, but for the past week it will not shut down when you select Shut down from the Start menu; instead it restarts. It also won't hibernate properly; after about 10 seconds it resumes. It does seem to sleep properly, for example, when you close the cover. And it will shut down if you press and hold the power button for 10 seconds.

I see a lot of posts on other forums with similar problems, but few solutions that seem to work. I have tried many of the suggestions (checking the shutdown and power settings, ensuring the network adapters can't wake up the computer, running SFC, updating the BIOS to the latest version), all to no avail.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Well guys, I have a Sony Vaio VGN-CR520D and recently I've reinstalled Microsoft Windows Vista. I have already updated everything I could trying to fix my problem which is the computer shutting down automatically without any notice whatsoever. Simply shuts and when I power on again, it starts as if nothing abnormal had happened. Weird, no warnings upon logon or after.

At first I thought It was a problem with ISBMgr.exe, which I disabled from windows startup. Didn't fix, but if I enable it again, a box pops up saying that my battery is not propperly conected or malfuncioning, which is absurd since it's a new and original battery. Anyway.. I still haven't found a way to update ISBMgr.exe IF the problem is that.

I also have run combofix, but can't say by the report if theres any registry errors...

So, can anyone land a helping hand to this matter? I appreciate.
Best regards,

PS - If there's any need for the combofix report I could paste for your review, thanks.

I've been working on fixing this notebook for 2 weeks now.  Finally i just went and got a new hard drive, and after installing a downloaded iso windows7, it installed fine and worked great.....until I tried to shut it down.  Then it froze where it says: "Shutting down".  Thinking it was a first-time fluke, I powered off, then restarted it.  It worked fine again until getting to the same point in "Shutting down" where it froze as before.
Any suggestions?

A:fujitsu notebook freezes on shutdown

Many shutdown hangs can be attributed to a driver issue. Since you have performed a fresh installation of Windows from a downloaded ISO, have you installed device drivers for your system?
Before going on the web, make sure you have an Anti-Virus solution installed and configured.
Visit: http://www.fujitsu.com/global/  Choose support > support and downloads > select your country/region > notebook. Enter your serial, configuration, or model number to find drivers for your system.
Of course, visit the Windows Update Site and obtain the necessary updates for your Windows installation.
Best of luck and Please keep BC posted!

A comman occurance in HP's these were all caused by your hpdskflt.sys file or hpdskflt.sys is a driver for the onboard mobile data protection sensor. In other words the accelerometer.

You can re-install and wait for it to happen or disable the accelerometer if not used. I am unsure of the warranty ramifications.

Hi,My notebook is HP Pavilion dv7-7050sw, 17", i5-3210M, operating system Windows10.There is a fault of not having battery charging during operation and unexpected spontaneous shutdown laptop by the partial battery charge. When the laptop is off you can hear clearly cliques switch. This bug occurred when the original operating system, Windows 7 and persists after you upgrade to Windows 10.The laptop is very little used, bought second-hand after the warranty period, and sprzedfaj?cy hid me this disadvantage. This bug occurs when battery power and the power supply without batteries. When the battery is in the laptop, the system restarts.I think that may be caused by failure of the power supply to the motherboard - a switch, as shown by click heard when shutdown.Perhaps the lack of a driver to power? Is it a failure that could repair itself with the help forum, or rather, it is advisable to return the laptop to HP service. For my purposes notebook can be permanently connected to the network because I work on it stationary. If somehow you can disconnect the switch that causes the shutdown, the battery charging is unnecessary to me. Maybe this will make it easier to remove the fault. Please guidance of experienced forum users.Regards. Mietek5 (Szczecin, Poland)

I am still having a shutdown issue with Windows 10 and my HP 15 Notebook. Is there no formal fix forthcoming from HP or Windows for this? Most of the troubleshooting threads about this are from late fall/early 2016 and I am wondering if people are still having this issue? I have tried all the non-invasive suggestions (turning off Fast Start Up, etc.) but they have not helped. My shutdown problem started within the past few months even though I upgraded to Windows 10 last fall. I am wondering who I need to contact for help -- HP or Microsoft? Basically the computer won't shut down. It goes into sleep or hibernation mode or some such and never actually turns off. I have to force shut down by holding the power button to get it to turn off. This only happens when the computer has been on and running for a while or if it isn't restarted for any reason. Basically, I turn it on, use it for a few hours, and when I go to shut down it doesn't. Please help

I turn on my laptop and then this error appears "No bootable image found, notebook will be shutdown". I need help please, also I heard a noise when it happened.

A:"No bootable image found, notebook will be shutdown".

Hi,Try this -->Go to BIOS Setup F10 on power on, select System Configuration, deactivate "Secure Boot", then select "Legacy" as "Boot option". Save and exit check if this works. Not working?, try -->Enter BIOS by tapping away at the F10 key immediately after powering on the laptop.Once in BIOS, tap the F9 key to reset 'Defaults', then F10 to Save & exit.Still no, do this-->Once unit is powered on keep tapping F2 key and run the system diagnostic check if the Hard drive is getting detected. If yes run the test for Hard drive. If the Hard drive is not detected if you are comfortable try reseating the Hard drive and check if that works.RegardsVisruth

Hi, I've been trying to set up my old Acer Aspire Timeline X pc as a Plex media server. I noticed that the laptop immediately wakes from sleep. When idle it'll eventually go into sleep mode and then immediately wake again. This is confirmed from the event viewer log but the reason for wake is listed as unknown.

Running powercfg -requests from the command line indicated Legacy Kernel Caller preventing sleep mode but I can't figure out what the root cause is. I have just clean installed Windows 10 and even after that the PC won't sleep. I've tried disabling network drivers etc but no luck. I have also noticed that when I opt to shutdown from the Windows 10 start menu, the PC shutsdown but then immediately boots again. So it's restarting not shutting down. Don't know if the two are related?

If anyone can offer any advice I'd appreciate it. It'll make a good media server PC but I don't want it running all the time. Thanks in advance.

I'm setting up a brand new ASUS A54C Notebook for a friend, and am having some trouble : each time I choose to Shutdown the notebook, either when logged in using Start > Shutdown, or from the login screen, the notebook does the following:

- logs off user as normal
- shuts down notebook as normal
- after about 3 secs, automatically reboots the notebook to the login screen

The system specifications are as follows:

- Windows 7 SP1 Home Premium x64 OEM
- Intel Pentium CPU B960 @2.2GHz
- Single 300GB HDD (1 x 25GB recovery partition; 1 x 125GB OS partition; 1 x 150GB empty data partition)

Thinking we may have a bum OEM installation causing the problematic shut down, I did a sfc /scannow which returned corruptions that cannot be fixed. I burn't the recovery disks, then did a fresh install from those recovery disks, but I still have sfc/ scannow reporting integrity violations that cannot be fixed (I have run sfc 3 x with a reboot between each).

Can someone suggest anything I can try to fix this? The goal is simply to have the notebook shutdown as normal, when selecting Start > Shutdown.

Other than this, there is absolutely no problem with the hardware or behaviour of the OS. Perhaps I am better off installing a crap-free Home Premium from an ISO, and then activating with COA sticker on bottom of laptop?

A:Notebook reboots when choosing Start > Shutdown

Hey Golden
One of the more common reasons for this behavior is a device driver causing the system to crash on shutdown.

Is the "Automatically Restart on system failure" option still checked in the system properties > Advanced?
