Q: Solved: Hard Core Teen Sex website

This website keeps popping up and I have run Adware and Spybot. It was also charging calls to my phone. I have put a block on my phone with the phone company and now have to send a letter an a email to dispute these charges. I have never been to that web site and it keeps popping up. I did read whre the average person can go remove this with help so Help. This is the information I get when I run spyware.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I have plugged in my CORE hard drive, the blue light comes on. I then insert the USB cable into my USB port in my laptop.... nothing. No "windows has detected a new device", no recognition in 'my computer', just nothing at all.

Apparently this is a very common issue, but I still have not found any solutions.

Any ideas?

Thank you!

Hello,

I have a CnM CORE usb powered external hard drive which is currently being a bit of a problem.

I hadn't used it in a while so earlier today went to try and update and backup some files.

If plug it in I get a blue light on the physical drive. Under "computer" I see the drive when I connect it for a fraction of a second, the device being plugged in sound plays, but then the drive disappears.

The drive itself doesn't seem to have anyway of opening it either. Usually I would be able to feel it vibrate, but not any more so I assume it is dead, although it does get warm? If so, is there any way for me to recover the data or something?

If you would like any more information, just give me a shout.

Thanks very much for your time!

A:Solved: CnM CORE Usb External Hard Drive Problem.

I'd break the enclosure apart, remove the actual hard drive, and connect it internally to your PC and see if you can access it.

The exact model of the drive would help, not sure if this one is similar: http://gadgetcat.wordpress.com/2011/05/03/100-gb-core-by-cnm-portable-hdd-review/

Hi,
I own the domain and I know that I have some online
storage space for up to 500GB. I want some online storage. Assume my
local drive is C: in my laptop. I want you to set up a virtual drive,
for example, x:, so that everything whenever I have a chance to access
the internet, I can go to a website, for example,
www.****.com/storage, then I put username and password for that
site, once I go through that, I can see a virtual drive, let's say,
x:, and I can drag and drop files from my laptop to the virtual drive,
and vice versa.

So it is like uploading and downloading files...
Is there any way I can do this?

A:Solved: Virtual Hard Drive on website

You can map a network drive in Computer or networking settings if you have the address of the space.

If you start the wizard, there is an option at the bottom to connect to a website for storage and to add a network location.

Hi,

I'm buying a new computer with Vista home premium (32 bit), and I can't decide whether I should get a 2.4 quad core or a faster dual core (since it's cheaper).

I've searched about this but all the results I've got were from 2007, so I'm not sure if things changed much now.

So what do you think? will I benefit from the additional cores? or shall I go with faster dual cores?
appreciate your help

I did a check today on my computer because its been running slower than I thought it would when I bought it. When I ran the test it said I have 1 core working, and that the processor is at 2.36 GHz, not the 2.66 it should be at. I don't know why only 1 of the cores is working, so I was hoping one of u tech guys out there might know... Can anyone help?

- Surfing
- Listening to music
- A little *gaming* (some old games like CS or something).

Okay, here is the scenario.
There are 2 laptops.
One has a 3.0GHz single core.
The other has a 1.5GHz dual core.
The thing I'm asking is: When you buy a laptop that says it's 2.66 GHz triple core, does that mean there are 3 processors each clocked at 2.66 GHz? Or does it mean that there are 3 processors and in total they add up to 2.66 GHz?
Also, is it better to have a 3.0 GHz single core or a 1.5 GHz dual core if you want to run games?
Thanks

Ok, I'm building a CPU and I'm stuck between Intel's Core 2 Duo E8500 and their Core 2 Quad Q9300. I was going to go for the quad-core, but I heard things about how apps still aren't optimized for four cores. I will mainly be gaming, occasionally using photoshop and flash.

My problem is
a) I want games and apps to run good today
b) I want have a solid CPU that will give me excellent performance for the next 2-3 years.

What's the techguy.org consensus? I have to go with Intel as I already bought a mobo, and $270 is my absolute price maximum for a processor.

I have an almost 13 year old granddaughter that is very good with logic puzzles and loves the computer and stated an interest in learning how to program games.
While I know my way around the PC, I've never done much in the line of programming. I am considering on buying her for Christmas a beginners guide to C++. My thinking is if she's going to learn she might as well gain some real life experience she can use as opposed to getting her a book on basic or something like that.
My question is two fold to you programmers. Is C++ going to be too difficult for a kid her age? And secondly any other recommendations for a simple C++ book or other suggestions if I'm not on the right path thinking about C++. I did find the MS visual C++ compiler that I downloaded for her and a beginners video from the MS website to supplement the book.
Any help will really be a appreciated.

Hello, folks.
My teen can't get enough of MySpace, YouTube and associated activities. The more she uses them, the more I have to keep cleaning out Virtumonde, Smitfraude, etc. malware that keep repeatingly placed on my PC. I'm tired of the junk! How can she keep using her favorite sites without junking up the PC with malware? I am running Win XP, antivirus is Panda Internet Security (which I love 10x better than Norton or McAfee) plus I also clean out with Spybot often (probably need to do this more often). What guidelines can I give my teen to help prevent malware? She also IM's a lot, and I'm gonna tell her about not clicking on IM links.

A:Keep Getting Reinfected When My Teen Uses Myspace

Do you use the Firefox browser? That will definitely help. You're more likely to get infected on myspace using Internet Explorer.

Spybot is pretty ineffective these days. It was decent several years ago, but now I'd recommend Malwarebytes or SuperAntiSpyware.

I recently 'cleaned' this computer and upgraded the memory. I left it with Eset running and it seemed fine until a 14 yr old nephew spent one session on it. When I heard about it, the browser was hanging without connecting. System control soon degraded to the point where Windows loads but that is it. Task mgr, file explorer, start button, browser... nothing works. Disk activity is evident but 'it' will not release the machine even after sitting off the ethernet wire for a substantial time after loading the OS. Safe mode available but 'it' blocks the run of Malwarebytes (though the app will load into memory). The only scans I could run were from within safe mode. not sure how useful that may be but RSIT outputs attached. I have DDS scan from safe mode I will place under separate post.

Best advice about next step please. Thank you for taking this under advisement.

The other negative thing I've read is something about having to press two keys on the keyboard to control the sound. Again, I don't think that that sounds like a big deal either.

I guess I'm wondering if there's something better for his money or is this actually dang good for $1250 plus tax from Best Buy? (I know Amazon's price is cheaper but hesitate to have to handle any troubles we ... Read more

My daughter is experiencing problems with her Windows ME machine. I've cleaned off what I could with Spybot and Adaware. I've also run Norton 2002 and the Micro trend on-line virus scan (although I'm not confident that the on-line scan made it to completion).

I'm seeing alot of modem activity, even when nothing else is running on her PC. She's getting icons on her desktop, pop-ups and spyware. Her machine is running very slowly and locks up on a regular basis.

I've run hijackthis and Hijackthis analyzer. The analyzer log is posted below:

Hello. I am new here but have been following these forums for a couple of weeks. I think the people [??] who create viruses should be treated like any other terrorist.

I have AVG and today when I opened my e-mail, I noticed a message labeled "Teen poll results" above a couple of other entries. So I used Shift and selected all three so I could delete them all at once. However Delete didn't work.

The AVG [Griswold] screen popped up and said it detected a virus. So I pressed "n" and even enter. Meanwhile, behind the AVG box, there was another box showing a file being downloaded. So I quickly clicked the Close X button for Outlook Express. I hope that cut it off at the pass.

So I have some questions:

1) Is there some way to select and delete something from my inbox without it starting to download?

2) Why didn't AVG stop this thing from down loading?

3) Assuming part of the virus downloaded, how do I find it and get rid of it?

That's enough for now. You guys are great.

Well, I downloaded a program called magicdisc to mount image files, but it turns out this was a terrible mistake. When I installed it on my computer (not this one my gaming computer) and rebooted my computer like instructed everything stopped working. The first couple of times windows would load slowly, but I couldnt open any programs, and the quick launch bar/ start menu were gone and unaccesible. So I tried to reboot in safe mode and I could access command prompt, but at the time i was afraid to lose all my games so I hesitated instead of formatting C drive. So I shutdown teh computer and came to look on the interne tfor some alternatives. Now however, I cant access ANYTHING. When I try to boot the computer in any mode, I geet a blue screen telling me that if I proceed my comp will be damaged, and emergency shut down will now happen. So I went into setup and tried to make it lback to when it left the factory, but that failed as well. So now im completely lost, and Im afraid the only option is to pay lots of money and send it into the store

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

A:Hard-core Virus

There is a Linux based program called "Darik's Boot and Nuke" that completely wipes out a hard drive. There are 2 versions, one is a bootable ISO image which can be burned to a CD using Nero or almost any other image burning software, and the other makes a bootable floppy. Use it if you have given up hope for ever recovering any data on your drive(s).

Just a warning though, if you use it everything will be unrecoverable.

I'm having trouble setting up my internet on a computer. I tried all the usual things and have narrowed the problem down to something between the computer and the router. I opened up the router (Linksys Wireless-G) page (with all the router settings, I know its got a name...) on the computer and have checked all the settings against another computer on the same router that works fine. I then went into the diagnostics page of the router settings and began trying to ping various websites. It successfully pinged www.google.com, but when I tried to open the same site in Firefox it would not load. I pasted the IP address for Google, 74.125.67.103, into Firefox and it loaded the page. When I try a search, or try to navigate away from the page I'm told that "the page cannot be displayed" just like before. I don't understand the problem, I can send and receive data but I can't open any webpages. I'm assuming there's a setting somewhere that I've overlooked, could someone please point me in the right direction?

Hi

I am a dad who wants to give his rebellious pre-teen daughter some control on her laptop, like update iTunes or install games, but she cannot do such as a Standard User.

I initially setup her laptop with both of us (dad and daughter) as admin users. I wanted to be an admin user to help install updates, backup, and check for viruses, etc... Dad as "Home IT guy".

However, in her rebellious attitude over the last couple of months, she removed me as an admin; so, I had no way for login. Pissed IT dad.

IT dad took her laptop away for a week, demanded her password, created IT dad as admin and changed frustrated daughter into standard user.

All fine. No. Daughter wants to upgrade iTunes (admin login required), install games (admin login required), etc... (admin login required). Non-IT mom does not want to do IT stuff (i.e. "admin login required" stuff).

Is there a way to allow my daughter (degraded to Standard User) to have some admin privileges (to perform upgrades and downloads without "admin login required"), but without having the permissions from removing other administrators (i.e. IT dad)?

In other words, IT parents as Uber-Administrators and User children as Limited-Adminstrators (i.e., cannot remove a Uber-Adminstrator but can upgrade and download software)?

IT Dad wants to know, thx

jeff in seattle

A:Windows 7 Pro: Parent adminstration control and rebellious pre-teen

Sorry, I dont have an answer for you, but I'm in exactly the same boat. because I have three sons that install programs and updates like your daughter, that required me to intervene on a multiple-times-per-days basis I gave my kids administrative accounts on their own computers.

BIG MISTAKE!!

I use OpenDNS to prevent access to undesirable web stuff, and so I can have some semblence of knowledge of what is going on. But they hack, and they crack and they circumvent every bit of security I add.

Now I am considering setting them to standard users. And that means non-stop whining, negatively charged atmosphere, and daily interventions by me to install, update, remove and configure things on their PCs.

I feel for you. I hope someone here will be able to offer some guidance to us frustrated parents.

OK, here's the story. I have two Western Digital hard drives in my system, the master is a 120GB/8MB cache, the slave an 80GB/8MB cache. When I power on the system after it has been powered off for a few hours, the secondary (80GB) drive sounds as if it is trying to spin up and fails; it does this a few times, and then Windows XP will eventually load but fail to detect the drive. Occasionally, XP fails to load completely (dead crash). However, if I do either a warm reset or a cold boot, everything initializes perfectly. I did a surface scan and used WD's diagnostic utility, but no hard errors were detected.

I did the following to isolate the problem:
- Replaced IDE cables; result = no change
- Tried different molex connectors; result = no change
- Tried changing jumper setting from Master/Cable Select to Master/Slave; result = no change
- Upgraded firmware on the drive; result = no change
- Swapped the circuit board on the drive (the female Molex power port is integrated) thinking it might be a micro fracture in a chip, Molex pin, etc); result = no change
- Left surge protector on instead of powering off after I turn off main computer; result = successful, but only sometimes

It looks like a power issue, right? Thing is, the machine has a new Antec 430watt power supply, and if it was a power issue, why are my other devices not showing anomalies?

Any insights you may have... would be greatly appreciated! =-)

A:Hard-Core HD Problem - AARGH!

It really sounds like an intermittent hard drive failure even if it tests O.K. I doubt if it is a power issue doing this. I would try to get my important data off there immediately until you find the problem.

Hi guys. I've been looking at 2 laptops, they are basically identical but one has an Intel Core i3-4005U mobile processor and 4GB of RAM, and the other one has an AMD A4-5000 mobile processor and 6GB RAM. The guy at the store and a couple other people I know told me that the Core i3 is better than the A4 as the AMD "Quad Core" processors aren't very good, so even though the Intel i3 is only dual core it will be better than the quad core AMD. The other question is the RAM. Is 6GB that much better than 4GB or will 4GB be fine for basic use. (That's all this laptop is for. Basic use and touch apps since it will be touchscreen)

The AMD laptop is this one: Buy the HP Pavilion Notebook - AMD A4, 6GB, 15.6 at TigerDirect.ca
And the Intel here: Buy the HP TouchSmart 15.6 Notebook PC - F5W37UA#ABL at TigerDirect.ca

Last question, what the hell is DDR3L? All the new laptops have it nowadays... Is it backward compatible with normal DDR3 laptop RAM? Meaning can I take a normal laptop DDR3 4GB stick out of my dads laptop and put it into the 4GB (i3) laptop if thats the one i'm gonna get? Or does the DDR3 "L" part cause issues?
Thanks

Edit: Sorry i'm not sure if this is the right place for this thread. If it isn't mods could you please move it? Thanks

A:AMD A4-5000 "Quad Core" vs Intel Core i3-4005U Dual Core

Hmm, I guess you should read some reviews. But just from the specs the AMD has 6 GB ram instead of 4. Has a DVD burner where the Intel shows no optical drive. It only has W8 8.0 where the Intel has 8.1. But some people may prefer 8.0.

Read reviews. See how each performs. If you don't wish to use it to burn DVD then the optical drive, or lack thereof may not matter to you.

Edit: Oh, and the AMD is about $80 cheaper.

I have a HP Envy 4 Ultrabook and I want to install Windows 8 from scratch, I put the installation files on a flash drive from a DVD of Win 8 I had, but when I go to install it, it says the "We couldn't find any drives". I have tried using DiskPart within the CMD as well, but it only finds my flash drive when I run list disk. Also, my drives are completely formatted, and I accidentally wiped the recovery partition. I tried with a USB of Win 8 Pro, and it was fine, showing all of my drives correctly, but that version is linked to another PC, so I can't install it. Also, I booted into a Linux Mint live CD and tried to install it, it sees my hard drive correctly, but the Windows install does not, I can't figure this out, never encountered it before. Is Linux my only option at this point?

A:Windows 8 Core installation won't recognize my Hard Drive
