Hp Photosmart spewing blank paper when trying to print photo

Q: Hp Photosmart spewing blank paper when trying to print photo

I recently had a clean Win7 install done and my computer is much more efficient and speedy. However, today is the first time I've tried to print photos from My Pictures but I'm not having any luck though I can print text from documents. In addition the print dialogue box no longer gives me the template options, only full page. I've inserted new ink and searched everywhere on my PC but can't find a reason for this. I even tried printing pix onto plain paper but that comes out empty too. Can anybody help please? Until the new install I could print photos relatively easily.
Thanks in advance.

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

Have you installed the full-feature software driver package for that printer for Windows 7 64-bit?

Upon opening sealed box from SAM's club and trying to set up, I found a paper jam when i tried to set it up with perforated paper. We don't have perforated paper in our new home so this was a frustration and surprise. I hope that HP will surprise me with compensation of a new black cartridge as this was obviously used before, refurbisheshed and sold as new.Thank you,Kitty1854

Hello to all,

My printer thinks it has a jam! If I'm printing more than one page, after every page an error notice appears that says....Paper Jam, clear it and.....push button etc. There is no jam. I've blown compressed air into the printer in an attempt to clear anything which might be in the way of it's sensors & also uninstalled and reinstalled the drivers but....still the message. Can anybody help resolve this?

A:Paper Jam - HP Photosmart 1115

Check to see if you have the correct paper size setup in the printers control panel and also in the printer driver.

While the 1215 printer can automatically detect paper size it apears that your model doesnt.

I get a "paper mismatch" error when trying to print photos on 4x6 photo paper. I contacted HP and went thru a bunch of steps to solve this problem to no avail. I should mention that it used to work. If anyone on this forum has any tips/ideas I could try, I'd like to hear them. Kinda weird but if I load 8.5x11 photo paper, the 4x6 photos prints fine. Seems to me - that's when I should be getting a "paper mismatch" error. Thx!

Help getting & installing a compatable driver for new Photosmart 7520.

Need to have 'Print Preview' in Printer Preferences. Newer Photosmart Printers have very few options under Preferences.

Have tried drivers for Office Jet 6100 & Deskjet 69800 as suggested in HP forums. Neither has 'Print Preview' in Printing Preferences.

My previous Photosmart C310 died, bought the 7520 as a replacement. If I remember correctly, when I upgraded to Windows 7 with the older Photosmart C310 I had to download an alternate driver. That printer worked fine for over 2 years with all the preferences. I failed to note the driver that worked with the C310.

Hope someone can help, or I'll return this one to Costco along with the $130.00 worth of ink.

A:Alternate HP print driver with 'Print Preview' for Photosmart 7520

After a week of frustration, I was able to locate an HP Forum with the information that works.
I used the alternate driver that was from my previous Photosmare C310.
Here is the link. Hope this is helpful for someone in the future.

print preview / afdrukvoorbeeld - HP Support Forum - 3356529

I research genealogy and do a lot of text printing from my own compter files. The 'Print Preview' feature is crucial to how I print. It is next to impossible to find out if a new printer has this feature before buying. Sales people & manufacturer's website are next to usless.

I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this question but I just got an Epson Aculaser C1100 and I have been trying to print out an image on Epson Photo Paper. This paper worked well on our old Epson Stylus Photo 935, but when trying to print on the new laser, the images seem to come out with a green cast over them, no matter how much I played with the settings. It only happens with this Photo paper, normal paper seems to come out ok. Then I noticed the the paper says for Inkjet Printers. Sorry if I seem stupid but I have never had a laser printer before. Is this what could be causing my problem? Can anyone recommend good glossy photo paper for using with this printer? Thanks.

A:Best Photo Paper?

A colour laser printer is very different to an inkjet. I have the C1100 and only use it for brochures and documents and print on high quality 190 or 230 gsm white card. It will never equal an inkjet in photo quality I'm afraid, but then that is not it's purpose.

How do I load my 4x6 photo paper in the printer (hp deskjet 960c)? Sounds simple but I've never printed any picturs cuz I'm stumped by this step in the process. Thanks

A:using 4x6 photo paper

What are you saying? Does the paper not fit in, hard to the right hand side and with the guide slid over? Longways, not across in width.

You set the paper size in the setup options before you print (using whatever program you are printing with).

They did a small segmant on the news here about photo papers and inks so I thought I would pass this along. I use HP ink and Kodak paper but not the stuff mentioned. I have photos from 4yrs. ago that have not faded as of yet so I guess that's a good combination.

A key consideration in how much a photo will fade is the ink used to print it, so Consumer Reports tested the Kodak paper with six inks. For a six-week period, a photo from each of the six printers was stored in the dark, while a second set was placed in a light box to simulate what happens to a photo over time.

At the end of the test, four of the six samples faded, some noticeably, others only slightly. On the upside, photos printed with HP and Epson inks on Kodak Ultima Picture paper with ColorLast did very well. When compared to the photos stored in the dark, the photos exposed to light showed no fading at all.

Consumer Reports says the new Kodak Ultima paper with ColorLast performed as well as HP and Epson papers did with their own inks. And at 46 cents per sheet, it's comparably priced with other premium photo papers.

A:Photo paper and inks

Interesting observation acraftylady. I use an Espon printer with Epson inks and Epson paper. My 1270 uses archival inks and has 6 colors. I use Epson's ColorLife paper and have yet any prints fade unless kept in direct sunlight as some people tend to do. However, I do have to say, even lab printed photos will fade if one hangs them in direct sunlight for years. And I have tried the Kodak Ultima papers and found them lacking quality in some areas, especially shadows. Shadows tend to be grainy looking. I get this same effect if I use HP paper. So I tend to stick with what works for me and that is Epson ink with Epson paper.

I have an Epson 1400 printer.....I want to know if there is any issue at all in using non-Epson premium glossy paper for that setting when I print. Hello, first time on TSG....all help appreciated. I purchased a 2nd HP Photosmart 6515 today. (1st one bought 2 wks ago & returned for same problem) Am on a MacBookPro, operating system Mac OS X, version 10.7.3
All other functions work (copy, scan), but when I attempt to print a photo on 4x6 photo paper, it prints the correct size picture on 8.5x11 paper from Tray 1, NOT the 4x6 photo paper in Tray 2. I use Picasa3 as my photo depository & never encountered the problem w/my previous HP Photosmart.
Have spoken twice with HP over 40 minutes each time. After much tweaking, the most success we had was printing correctly from iPhoto, which doesn't solve the problem b/c all my pics are in Picasa. The kind fellow went down the "Picasa is a 3rd party software" road, which does not jive with me, b/c I did not have the problem with my previous HP Photosmart 7760, which was an older model & gave up after solid, faithful performance.
How do I make the printer engage the Photo Paper Tray? Any insight?

Hi all,

Need your guidance and expertise please.

We just purchased an HP Pavilion P7-1254 PC 64-bit with Windows 7 Home Premium. The existing printer is an HP Photosmart 7760 which was connected to our old computer which ran XP via the LPT1 port.

I'm feel extremely computer illiterate at the moment, so please give me "dummy proof" instruction

Here's what I've done so far . . . went to Add Printer. Driver didn't come up so I selected "have disk". Said everything installed fine, but still no printer.

Then read a thread stating we should perform Windows Update so all updated drivers are downloaded. Did that. No success.

Then I further read that HP doesn't offer a driver for 64-bit, but could use either Vista drivers or a patch or even Deskjet 5400? (I went through this for my Vista machine a few years ago and it was successful)

Still . . . wanted to check with you guys first before doing this because that thread said it was for upgrading Vista to Windows 7. I'm not doing that.

Sooo, two questions please:

1. What port am I supposed to be using? The Add Printer selected LPT1 (which was the port used on our old XP machine) and I'm not sure that's correct for this new one. I think I have to use a USB port here? If this is the case, do I simply need to get a converter for my printer so I can use the USB? Please confirm.

Cannot print black ink on my HP Photosmart C7280.
Issue with two mac laptops one running OS 10.9.1 & the other OS 10.6.8.
Tried several solutions to no avail. Can print colors.
Printer was unused for 9 months, as it is every year, but worked perfectly before that. Since last year I have used aftermarket ink but not refills.
What Iíve tried so far.
Although printer shows all cartridges had ink Replaced black (twice) & all color
Cleaned printhead
Reset printer using *,# 123 etc
Unplugged, waited 1 minute and re-plugged printer.
Used paperclip to clean out feeder tubes.
Soaked black cartridge in hot water/alcohol mix -dried and reinserted.
Aligned printer.
Any solutions we have not tried?

A:HP Photosmart C7280 won't print black

Inkjets shouldn't be left unused for long periods, the print head is likely clogged with dried ink and probably not recoverable. Using aftermarket ink probably hasn't helped either. You can order a new print head if available from HP or a third party parts site or replace the printer.

Okay, lets see, about two weeks ago....we had one generic (black) ink in our printer plus our rather HP inks.

It said "INK FAILURE" (about black I think) so I took that cartridge out and put a new HP one in.

I thought that would solve the problem. WRONG!

It proceeded to still give a "INK FAILURE" message and would not print.

CURRENTLY, it will fax things (??!!) but will not print.

My husband reset it from scratch. Still will NOT work.

Any clue why? Any idea how to fix it?

All right--we need a high techie. If you have any ideas, would love to hear!

A:HP Photosmart 3310 INK FAILURE will not print

Does it have an error code? What is the exact wording? Ink system failure? Or ink failure? The "NEW" HP cartridge is brand new, or have you had it sitting around for some time? Is there an expiration date on the box?

Hello:I am running Windows 2000 pro, with all service packs installed, including the final service pack that was issued in place of the service pack 5 that was canceled. The problem is fairly easy to describe:- I open WordPad, type a single space, then use the File pull-down menu to print a blank piece of paper.- The Print dialog box, pages entry has 1-65535 in it. If I go ahead and click on the Print button, I would need more than 13 cases of paper for the job to complete! This is a new phenomenon, as I have used this technique for quite some time to ensure proper connection to the printer and that other programs will be likely to print correctly and never have had the printer spit-out more than one sheet of paper.I can highlight the "1-65535" value and delete it, which will allow me to print the one blank page I want, but I shouldn't have to do that extra step (and the print dialogue box should not show anything in the "pages" box). I would like to know if perhaps something in the configuration files for WordPad causes this to happen and, if so, what it is, where it is, and how can I change it to get things back to normal.I did run Avast!, Spybot, SuperAntoSpyware, and the free Trend Micro scan to see if there might be some malware that contributes to the problem. Nothing was found.Since I run Win2K on of my other computers, I thought a simple approach would be to locate WordPad and its associated files on one of the other computers and simply ... Read more

I'm using a Toshiba Satellite laptop running Windows Vista. I have also been successfully using an HP Photosmart B209a "all in one" printer with a wireless connection. I began getting low ink messages, so installed new HP cartridges. When I try to align the new cartridges, I get a message that says the alignment failed, but I can still use the printer. However, when I try to print any document I have generated on my computer, the printer picks up the paper and goes through the machinations of printing, but when it spits out the paper, it is blank. When I print a test page, it works. When I print a page from a website, it works. It will copy a document. It simply won't print anything I generate using my word processor or spreadsheet (I use Microsoft Works).

HP's Monitor program says that the computer is ready.

I have used HP Solutions Center, but nothing it suggests has made any difference. I have checked my wireless connection and it is working, obviously, or the printer wouldn't be getting the message to print, as it surely is, since it starts, picks up the paper and goes through the whole process of printing. However, nothing comes out except a blank piece of paper.

Hope you can help.

Hi, I usually print photos from my own printer but the quality of the photo is not satisfactory. can someone help me by telling how to choose the perfect photo paper for good quality printing.

A:How to ensure that i have picked a perfect photo paper for good quality printing?

I have closed your other post as the qustions will overlap and we will not see all the answers, which can get confusing

to discuss the printer change - first we would need to know the current printer you have - the source of the images you use and print and then the budget you have to spend

The quality and size of the image is important , what setting are you using for printing DPI/PPI

Is the image size sufficient to print out the size you want ?

i would start with the paper designed for the printer
then you will need to make sure the colour profiles are correct for the printer on the PC
depending on what editing program you use, most will allow you to set the correct colour and printer profile
an ICC file

what program are using to print from
whats the make and exact model of the printer

often the screen will not match the print out , and again some programs have a gamma setting to setup the monitor , you can get screen calibration devices - but , you should be able to get acceptable results without that

but the quality of the photo is not satisfactoryClick to expand...

can you explain why

Then once you get good results with the printer manufacturers photo printer - then you can try other makes and see how they work
also the inks need to be fresh , if they are very old that can cause a cast

and of course the printer itself needs to be a reasonable quality for photo printing

you will see quite a few posts here about printing quality images

whats the source ?

i have tried using papers designed by the same manufacturer as the printer

but now moved on to using a dysub printer , and so do not have a choice of paper and ribbon

Hi Gang,

The below image should give you an idea of my a.) dilemma and b.) frustration (note name of default printer).
This is a Home Network printer. Windows 7 in this instance is running wireless on my Dell D-620. It did not like the installation disk for the HP printer, but was able to locate internal drivers for it. It's set up using the IP addy. Sadly, it doesn't like to hold the printer mapping over time, and frequently drops it. I've tried a few things, but only removing/reinstalling the driver seems to solve it, and even then only temporarily. Problem is, the ghosts that you see in the pic. I remove them using "remove device" but they only reappear on refresh, or restarting of the "Devices and Printers" window.

Checked ink levels, which are fine

Anything else I can look into? Thanks in advance.

I have a HP photo smart B110 series printer, and recently when I send a print job to it that has multiple pages and is quite detailed it always gives a paper jam error.
It occurs when printing PDF files, long word documents... basically anything that has a lot of info. As it is going slowly through once the first page is about 2/3rd printed the Jam error occurs. The next sheet has not moved at all so clearly isn't causing an issue.
If I set the quality to Fast Draft it prints with no problem, but obviously it isn't as good a copy.

Can any one shed any light on this issue please?

A:Paper Jam issue with slow print jobs

Sounds like a hardware issue. Paper moving fast through the printer works fine. Paper moving slow fails.

I preparing a display that requires printing very light ink on black paper. I have tried white, although a lack of ink makes sense on white paper, yellow and light orange. Looking very closely at the finished sheet I do not see any evidence of any ink being deposited. However, I can see evidence of black being deposited. The printer is a HP PhotoSmart Premium C310a. Incidentally, my Hp series D2600 acts the same way. Both printers print all colors when white paper is used. Any ideas?

A:Trying to print light fonts on black paper

To get even a light gray text you would have to use black ink on white paper. The "color" white is actually the complete absence of any color at all, so most consumer printers have to turn of all the color cartridges and rely on the paper to produce the "white".

You could buy a printer that uses actual white ink, but I bet they're expensive!

But at $276.99 for just the cartridge you might want to consider a white crayon...:-)

Every time I try to print anything, my WF-2530 feeds a sheet through and reports paper out. The unit has seen little use and has never had a paper jam. I have carefully loaded only a few sheets of regular 20 lb paper and it does it every time. I have done the same with some Kodak photo paper for inkjet and gotten the same results. It simply does not detect that there is paper loaded.

I have tried resetting the unit, powering off then on, disconnecting and reconnecting the power cord. Nothing causes it to recognize that paper is loaded after it feeds the first sheet through. Press the 'OK' button and it will feed another sheet and continue to report 'paper out'.

I don't want to replace such a lightly used printer. If I can correct whatever is wrong with the paper sensor it would be a blessing. Help!
