Q: Lenovo 710S PLUS 13IKB issues

Hi community, I've got Lenovo 710S Plus recently. I read about erratic fan control and I don't know if the problem has been solved, that's it? Unless fixed, I found and issue about BIOS version, explain it: BIOS v2.52 release date: 2017-6-22BIOS v2.03 release date: 2017-6-29 That's erratic versioning name? What's the latest?~~~ [Developers only]Now, about fan control issue, I think is provocated by bad BIOS configuration because this can be fixed overriding registers in charge of fan speed and processor temperature management. Somebody has source code in order to fix it? Thanks and forgive my English level.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I just bought my 710S plus-13IKB ideapad laptop four days ago and have been facing some freezing issues while watching youtube but it's usually fine once I refresh the browser or close Chrome entirely so I didnt mind them. But just now (like 30 mins ago) it froze and nothing I click or press could work and the screen hasn't unfreeze since then. Im not good with tech stuff so I tried ctrl+alr+del and the novo bios button but both didnt work. Also to be frank, opening applications like folders etc tends to lag a little (or being a bit slow). Not sure if this is a Lenovo issue or Windows 10 issue. Please kindly advise what action I should take. It's really disappointing to see a new laptop being like this. ):

Hi Everyone, Hello Lenovo, I bought this laptop recently, and I was satisfied so far until i decided to play a game. I bought this one because it has a discrete graphics for a lightweight gaming. But after about 10 mins of playing any kind of 3D game (Dota, CSGO, CoH, even Telltale games) fps drops start to occur - graphics settings in the game doesnt matter (low vs high - hd vs fhd .. still the same shuttering, fps droping). After some googling and testing via gpuz i discovered that there is thermal cap at 61-62°C and if the card reaches this temp, it will start downclocking - After 10 mins of playing, GPU clocked itself at somewhere around 650Mhz (default clocks are around 950MHz), reason of throttle: thermal - via gpuZ. I tried using a cooling pad, but it doesnt seem to help much. Via Nvidia Inspector: there is a thermal limit set to 61C, but u cannot modify this setting, then in the other two states of a card (i think those are the states, that are triggered by the thermal limit) there are clocks set to 405MHz - neither these are modifiable, so i think, that after some more gpu usage, it would continue dropping to 405MHz.   I have tried:I have installed the newest nvidia drivers. There is no problem with power management settings (been set to max via windows power plan manager).I have also tried every power management settings in nvidia control panel (max power, adaptive etc,) - no positive results. I dont even think i got a defecti... I got new Ideapad 710S-13IKB and trying to run Ubuntu on it. Unfortunatly Ubuntu not finds SSD disc and can't install itself when I run it from USB storage. I found that Lenovo has released BIOS that supports Linux. There some BIOS releases in Lenovo site:My current BIOS version is 3HCN14WW. According to logic it might be newer sine 14>13 and I afraid to update bios from site. How to know exactly which bios version is newer? Besides that there is "Linux only" BIOS. I need dualboot Win10/Linux. Will "Linux Only" allow me do this? How to get Linux on this machine?

Hi Friends, I have encountered problem while installing new OS (Windows 10 PRO) on my lenovo Yoga 910-13IKB which we prefer more than the default Windows 10 Home because I have used it more for job related matters. But after it automatically restarts as this was also included on the installation process, the next process became a cycle of basic information request-wifi connection-express settings then restarts again, and the same process continuously repeats. Aside from it, the screen's touch screen feature and the mouse pad are not working. Can anyone help me regarding my concern. I have attached file with images. Thank you.

Hi, I bought a lenovo ideapad 710S Plus and I keep getting the 'DNS PROBE FINISHED NO INTERNET' error in Google Chrome and the internet does not work in other browsers. I seriously can't figure out the problem! I have reset the laptop/clean wipe and the error still occurs. This is my second replacement and the error is still occurring!! I have installed the latest drivers and the error still occurs. I have also tried manually setting Google/OpenDNS or even my own ISP's DNS but same error occurs. Is it a laptop/hardware problem or is it a software/windows 10 update problem? My brother has a normal ideapad 710 on windows 10 and he does not get this error. I would greatly appreciate any suggestions- thanks! Mod's Edit: System model added to the front of Subject line to improve visibility / clarity.

Hi, I've read about some issue with yoga 710 fan noise that was recently fixed with a BIOS update. Is there an update for ideapad 710s-13IKB on the way? The unofficial third-party fan controller software doesn't work, perhaps because this laptop has two fans. Just installing some software for example causes the i5-7200u CPU to overclock to over 3GHz  which seems unnecessary. Limiting the CPU max clock to 70% from power management settings helps but is an ugly fix because it's a constant limit. When the temperature is +40C the left side fan stays on.... +39 and below the fan seems to shut down, but doesn't happen unless I let the computer idle for a long time. The fan control seems to jump every 10 degrees. +70C and above is the highest level. Because of the over-eager turbo clock the laptop can reach +70C very quickly and go into full fan power when doing low-intensity tasks. It does this every time I power on, and it takes a minute to lower the clock and fans down to reasonable levels. I noticed the fan issue straight away when I installed the W10 anniversary update. CPU/fan issue could be linked to high hard drive activity also. Also, the Lenovo Battery Gauge doesn't appear no matter how many times I try to enable it. It just doesn't want to show up on the task bar. Is it a seperate issue or are these two related?

As stated in the subject, when I got my new laptop and went through all the updates and finally returned to it, it had caused my fingerprint sensor to no longer work. When inspected through Device Manager, it throws Error Code 31: it states that the driver is up-to-date but Windows has failed to load the driver properly. With either restarting, removing and updating drivers, or reinstalling windows, I have failed to develop a manner of fixing this. Any help would be lovely. Thanks in advance!

I am totally disappointed in Lenovo's customer support. My lenovo 710s was bought less than 1 year ago (as of 10/6/2017, when I sent it in for repairs) and had 2 years warranty (1+1 year of extended warranty). I sent my laptop for repair due to a white spot issue on the monitor, affecting viewing of webpages and videos. However, the laptop was returned after 3 weeks without any fixes/repairs, as Lenovo claimed that it was a cosmetic issue. I wrote a message on their customer care website on 3/7/2017. However, they ignored me and there was no reply to date.  I thought Lenovo is a reliable and popular brand. However, it turned out to be a horrible decision, much to my dismay!

Hello everyone,  I recently purchased a Lenovo Yoga 720 13IKB. I've only have the unit for about three (3) weeks and the batter is no longer able to charge when connected to the power supply that came with the unit. I checked the AC adapter to make sure that it was properly connected to PC and it was. I plugged it to different outlets and it didn't help. I bought a replacement powersupply from my local MicroCenter and still nothing. I checked the Control Panel, open up the Power Options to see if there were any settings in there but nothing to show why it wasn't chraging. Then Opened the Device Manager. Under "Batteries" I saw two items, one for the battery and another listed as "Microsoft ACPI Compliant Control Method Battery". I Opened each item, which will brought up the Properties window. Under the "Driver" tab looked for "Update Driver." I went through the two options and did the same process of updating drivers. I went through the driver update process for all options. Once the drivers are all up to date, I rebooted the laptop and plug it in again. Then i unninstalled "Microsoft ACPI Compliant Control Method Battery" completely and reboot. Still the problem persists.  I even updated all the windows Updates. Then I opened Lenovo's Companion app. I updated all the drivers that need updating and nothing changed. I still have my PC connected to AC power and the battery isn't charging. I opened the lenovo setting app and checked under battery section... Read more

A:Lenovo Yoga 720 13IKB No longer charging

Is it not charging at all, or just stuck at around 60%.    I ask because there i an option in Energy Management to select Maximum Battery Life, or Optimized Battery Health, and if set the latter (which I believe is the default), it will only charge to about 60 percent of capacity in an attempt to prolong the life of the battery.    Setting it to Maximum battery life will allow the batter to charge to 100% and you will get a longer run time, but you may have to replace the battery sooner.     If you leave the laptop usually plugged in, then optimized batter health is the better option. Cheers,

The features still work, but it is hard to identify on/off when I can't see the icon. Windows 10 recently did a big update and I spotted the problem today, but it might be related to that. Perhaps it overrode the drivers. I can't seem to find the driver to fix this is this is the case. Would appreciate any help

I've drained the battery which has worked before but this time when I try to charge it the orange battery LED blinks three times. And still nothing on the screen. Any Lenovo stores are quite far away. Anyone knows what's going on?

Hello, Recently my CEO had bought a Lenovo Yoga 910-13IKB. It came with win10 preinstalled. I had worked on it for about 10 minutes and than the problem showed up: our local WiFi network dissapeared. I immediatelly took my laptop and searched for WiFi networks but no there was no my SSID at all. Then I had restarted WiFi router and network showed Up, but as soon Yoga connected, same again no network. I googled for solution and I did uninstall EMC and Lenovo Utility but that did not resolved the problem. Then I had tried to uninstall all drivers and than download and install them again but still the problem is there. Wherever Yoga connects WiFi dies. I found that some routers recognize something like DDos attack and so I dissabled that option on routers but again problem is there. Please can u give me solution to this problem because my CEO thinks that I am not capable of doing my Job (IT technician/Network administrator). Best wishes Adis

Dear Lenovo Community, I've just bought my Lenovo Ideapad 710S two days ago. Bought the highest-end configuration with 16GB RAM + 512GB PCIE SSD. I got to say I'm absolutely in love with the form factor and its performance. I decided upon this laptop mainly because of its portability and the combination of 16GB RAM + 512GB SSD at less than $2k. DesignAt 1.1kg, it is really light - I can hold in up effortlessly with one arm. At home, I use a Dell monitor (U2715H) which is almost borderless; looking at 710S's edge, it is equally slim and is key to making it look stylish. The matte screen display has very crisp, clear text and is very comfortable to look at. PerformancePerformance wise, there is no complain. It lives up to what it's spec-ed on paper. Every application and operation (e.g. startup, shutdown, boot from sleep) loads at breakneck speeds thanks to its PCIE SSD. I've yet to try running more intensive software e.g. the Adobe suite but at this rate, it looks promising thus far. AccuType KeyboardAt first, I thought the flat keys have really little travel to bottom-out but as I spend more time typing on it, I gradually grew to like the keyboard. It's well spaced-out, typing on it can be very accurate. Key travel is reasonable for faster typists. Only thing is the placement of backspace, enter and shift button at the right side needs some extra time to get used to it as I find they placed more to the right than it is on comm... Read more
