Keyboard stop working when wifi is turned on

Q: Keyboard stop working when wifi is turned on

I bought a notebook HP Pavilion G4 2260-br, that came with Windows 8. It worked fine until some Windows Update that made the keyboard stop working when I turn on the wifi (Actually it is not the whole keyboard, its the backspace, enter and space keys). If a turn off the wifi all the keys start working. Tried to:1 - Get to a previously backup restoration (the problem persisted)2 - Update to Windows 10, using offical methods (the problem persisted)3 - Downgrade to Windows 7 (x32 and x64) with a valid serial key (the problem persisted)4 - In Win 7 (x64) downloaded all the drivers and installed manually (the problem persisted)5 - In Win 7 (x64) downloaded the older versions avaiable (the problem persisted) To garantee that the problem isnt in the hardware, booted with a Linux in pendrive and ALL the keys works fine with WIFI ON or OFF. Anyone has the same issues?

Preferred Solution: Keyboard stop working when wifi is turned on

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

Windows 10 Enterprise version 1709We deployed the machine using SCCM and a WIN10 .WIM for 1709.The machine boots up and works ok but I noticed after 2-30 minutes the Wifi is disabled and the keyboard stops working (they always quit working together). So then I figured I'd run Lenovo System Update.I downloaded and installed all the critical, optional, and recommended updates (about 4 drivers). After restart (and hard reset with button on the bottom of the chassis) this issue still persists.  I'll be typing and then it stops working, at the same time wifi gets disabled. When I click on the Wifi icon (marked Turned OFF by the OS) nothing happens.  I can toggle airplane mode on and off by wifi will no longer toggl.  I have to restart the machine. The touchpoint, touchpad, and USB connect mouse continue to work during this time.

A:X1 Carbon 6th keyboard and wifi stop working

For whatever reason, it appears this machine will run longer successfully on battery.  When it is plugged in the error comes sooner.  Sometimes the error is there after reboot (either returns very fast or never went away, not sure).

Hi, I have already posted about this issue here:  http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Video-Display-and-Touch/x360-spectre-keyboard-disabled-when-sc... However, none of the responses seemed to address my problem.   I want to be able to use the keyboard on my Spectre x360 when the screen is rotated all the way back 360 degrees. Tablet mode is OFF. I have tried tilting the laptop. Neither method works. If there is no other way to use the laptop's keyboard while the screen is flipped back, can someone please advise how I can disable the orientation sensor.  My external monitor is basically unusable if I can't fix this issue, since I have no space on my desk for both the laptop and the monitor and need to be able to fold the screen back so I can use both at once. Thank you for your helpS

Keyboard and mouse stop working

Hi, I'm having some major problems with my Dell Dimension 8400 which runs on Windows XP.
It all started with some files found and replaced during chkdsk.
My PC was working fine yesterday, but today when I turned it on the problem started.
At first, everything is okay. Then, after the initial Windows page the screen goes black and a gray bar appears at the bottom. At this point, the keyboard and mouse shut off (lights go off) and stop working. Once the gray bar has finished loading (1-2 seconds), windows continues to start as usual. The only problem is when I get to the log in screen (where I have multiple user accounts) I cannot choose one to log on with because the keyboard and mouse do not work. I have tried unplugging them and putting them in the USB slot instead but to no avail. I cannot run safemode or anything because the same login screen comes up.
I tried hitting F12 initially and ran hard drive diagnostics which gave me the alarming result:
"Drive 0: ST3160023AS - FAIL - Return Code 7
Drive 2: No device"
Drive 4...my CD drive...diagnostics not supported
Drive 5...my DVD drive...diagnostics not supported

Any Suggestions? Please help!

Thanks in advance.

A:Keyboard and mouse stop working AND STOP 0X0000007B

Please follow the steps here for the Stop 0x0000007B error: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/324103

As you will note, one cause can be a boot sector virus.

Return Code 7 can indicate hard drive failure. Drive 0 is the hard drive.

As for CHKDSK replacing files and causing this problem, it's not likely. Even IF you check both options- fix file system errors and scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors, it didn't 'cause' the problem, it just made it more evident.

Backup everything you do not want to lose and consider replacing the hard drive.

I have a Dell 7737 laptop and from time to time it develops a firmware glitch where random keys stop working for both BIOS Setup and Operating Systems. After such thing happens neither shutdown (Full shutdown / Fast Boot disabled) nor restart get the keyboard back to a normal state. At this point the only workarround is to disconnect the AC power cord and then either drain the battery or physically remove it.
This laptop's battery cover is not designed for daily removal and it is starting to get loose because of this BIOS bug.
I am running BIOS version A14 but this bug was present since I purchased the laptop with BIOS version A07. Sometimes I cannot even type my password because the random keys that stop working match those it uses.
Please Dell could you provide a BIOS hotfix for this annoying issue?

So I have a computer I built and have an intel centrino advanced N 6205 wifi thing. My wifi is usually fine, but randomly my wifi will completely stop working and I'll pretty much just have to wait until it comes back. I used the intel diagnostic thing and it failed the ping test giving the error no response: default gateway, DHCP server.

Is there anything I can do to try to fix this problem?

edit: also I'm on windows 7

also I notice this usually when I'm playing csgo but it happens other times as well.

Hey guys, got a macbook pro(running win7 bootcamp) and a pc desktop at home, and both wifi stop working yesterday, not sure whats going on, My iphone & powerbook can pick up my Wifi network just fine.
I have a cable modem box hooked up to a Dlink DI 614+. Im in my Dlink router config page, everything is still the same, wireless still enabled, password is still set. in the system tray, the wireless connection box doesn't show any wireless network, not even my neighbors. I tried manually adding the Wifi network in the Wireless connection network menu, but it doesn't seem to do anything. A few days ago i did try to network share my macbook pro with my desktop(which i did get working) not sure if that might have caused the wireless failure. But it is odd that the pc and macbook pro now stop working, but the powerbook is fine.
any suggestions ?

thanks.

In general these types of problems can be fixed by resetting the router. After resetting the router you will need to go through the routers set up page and enter your SSID, password, and other wireless connection settings.

Hi,
my wifi stops working at random times on my win 8.1, maybe once a week. The same thing happens with headphone jack, usually not at the same time. It takes about 5 reboots to get them to work after that, which gets really annoying.
When that happens, I can't see any wifi network around me, and the headphones work on any other device.

I doubt this is about drivers, since it's two different drivers we're talking about.

For about 2 - 3 weeks now, some keys on my Lenovo Z50-70 laptop have stopped working. At first my left arrow, right arrow and home button would not work until I would press them multiple times and they would all simultaneously start working. They now don't work at all anymore no matter what I try.  This is now starting to happen with the letter "E" on my keyboard and it frustrates me a lot. Here are some of the things I have done to try and solve:

- connected an external keyboard (which works perfectly fine) - but I cannot use this at places such as university or work.
- attempted to update keyboard drivers and reinstall them (did not work).
- Ran virus scans with avira and malwarebytes. Malwarebytes found 200 PUPs - quarantining these fixed nothing.
- Tried using the keys (arrow keys) in BIOS - they still did not work
- Checked to see if I could update the BIOS - had the latest version.

Any help would be massively appreciated, I really want to get this fixed.

It ran for a while and fed me back an error saying I had another windows installer running on my computer and so I decided to restart my computer. When I went to do that I saw I had some windows updates that had downloaded so I told them to install. I then left and when I got back to start up my computer it ran the last of the install for the windows updates and booted fully into windows but my keyboard and mouse no longer work at all. I tried to hook up a PS2 keyboard and mouse but that still did not work. I tried booting into all the versions of safe mode but still the same problem. The keyboard and mouse and all my USB plugs seem to work just fine while navigating through stuff right up until my computer fully boots into windows. I have tried boot repair but it says nothing needs repairing and I tried to run a system restore as well. I did a fresh install from the Windows 7 Professional 64 bit that was supplied with the computer.  The load was perfect.  All Microsoft updates were installed except the one that nags about Windows 10.  After loading the wrong Brother printer, I uninstalled that printer.  On the very next boot, the USB mouse and keyboard were both frozen.  Moving them to different USB ports did no good.  Several different models of mouse and keyboard didn't work.  I tried the latest chipset and USB 3.0 drivers from HP's website.  Nothing.  The computer will shut down properly by pressing the power button.  This has happened on 3 of my 23 new computers.  Any thoughts?  Maybe a firmware update?

What are the temps? Is the interior clean of heat trapping dust? Are all fans spinning? Have you scanned for malware? With what?

It sounds like your computer is locking up - a common heat related symptom.

Hello. About a month ago a problem has occured. That problem is still frustrating me and I cannot fix it. I've taken my pc to the store where I bought it and they said it worked for them. The problem is my keyboard and my mouse. When I'm browsing the internet or anything but playing a game,it works fine. Once I start a game, after 20-25 minutes(sometimes even a few hours!) of constant gameplay, caps lock, numlock and scroll lock lights turn on. After that it might turn off and on 1 time, quickly, and then the keyboard would stop responding. After the keyboard stops responding, the mouse does too. There are no lights on the keyboard apart from the one on the top of it, nor can I turn on the numlock ,scroll lock and caps lock lights on. The LED lights on the mouse still work.

I've tried different keyboards and mouses-same.

My specs:
ASUSTEK P6T WS PRO.
10GB RAM,
Sapphire r9 380,
Intel i7 920,2.67 GHz,
MS Keyboard, says "HIV keyboard" in device manager and properties,
HAVIC Mouse, says "HIV mouse" in properties,
465GB of HDD,
Windows 7 Ultimate.

Tried installing new windows,updating bios,updating drivers,changing USBs...
After the mouse and keyboard stop working, the computer is still running, and the keyboard is sending the same input it was when it froze.

Would changing my motherboard fix this?
It would,I think?
PLEASE HELP! I've had this problem for months! It's very frustrating.

Compaq V6000 Vista Home, (32 bit) service pack 2. Computer about four years old. Motherboard replaced about four months ago because of graphic chips issue.

After a period of time / 30 min or so(?) (varies) the touchpad stops working. The blue power light continues to stay on, indicating the pad is still ?turned on? but the pad and buttons don't function. When the touchpad goes into this state, the icon on the bottom toolbar disappears. I also loose all sound, although the speaker icon remains.

When in this state the touchpad blue power light stays on and pushing the touchpad power button has no affect. (it should turn it off and illuminate an orange light)

The touch pad will also go into this state if the computer goes into the hibernate or sleep mode. One interesting thing, when in sleep or hibernate mode, you can awaken the computer by touching the touchpad surface, indicating to me that the pad is working until the computer comes ?awake.? After it wakes up, the blue blight is still on but the touchpad is inoperable.

If the touchpad is working, you can enter the sleep mode, return and the touchpad will continue to function normally.

To restore the touchpad and sound, the computer must be restarted. After that, everything works fine for a while. (time varies)

I can plug in a USB mouse to get around this issue.

I have done extensive research on Google. This issue has been happening at least since 2009. (although I didn't run across the sound issue mentioned) ... Read more

Hi,

I've been recently having a few problems with my mouse and keyboard, generally it's the keyboard freezes, then my mouse goes (because I have a USB Hub incorporated into my keyboard and that's where my mouse is plugged in), this is really strange because I've been using the setup for over a month now and I haven't had any problems up until recently, where I had to do a huge amount of Windows Updates. Could that me the source of my problems?

P.S. I'm posting from my laptop, because I just cannot use my PC it's almost impossible, so I will get the dump logs and specs of my computer as soon as I can get it to work for a few minutes without me ending up crying.

Thanks in advance

A:Mouse and Keyboard Randomly Stop Working

Hi ParadAUX and Welcome to sevenforums I hope you'll enjoy your stay here.

Could you please provide us with a little bit more information about the computer, would really help us if you were able to get the motherboard model, keyboard and mouse model numbers, it's just really hard to know what the issue might be.

Though have you tried plugging the mouse directly into the PC rather than having it in the keyboard usb hub?

Cheers!
Boris

I havent been on my computer for a few months because I've bought a laptop, but I needed to get some of my data off my computer, but I turned it on and it says Alert! System battery voltage is low. On the bottom of the moniter it says Press F1 to continue, F2 to enter SETUP. I pressed F1 to continue and my keyboard and mouse stop working. How can I fix this?

For a while now my my detachable Keyboard, Trackpad and Mouse have kept stopping. It has happened before and cured itself but so far not this time. A new and odd behaviour is that after closing down and relaunching everything does work, for about two seconds only, just enough time to log in and click one item in the Taskbar. From then on I have to rely on Touch, until I set up a standby Bluetooth board and mouse which are not perfect but enable me to keep using my 2-in-1 PC.

As it may not recover of its own accord or may take a long time to do so I would be relieved if someone can diagnose what might be happening and how to prevent it. Is it a hardwear or a software issue?

I just received my new Yoga and have noticed a very annoying glitch.  The keyboard and touchpad stop working and the only way to get them back is by closing the lid and opening it again.  It seems to do it when I use the touchscreen while in the "laptop" position.   Any suggestions?  I am curious if it is a defect or if I am turning them off some how. Help!

This happened to me last night, in fact. But after shutting down and restarting, it hasn't happened again so far.

I have a user whose Tab key stopped working, but only on its own. That is to say, Ctrl-Tab, Shift-Tab, and Alt-Tab all still work. After swapping with a known-good keyboard, Ctrl doesn't work, and escape opens the start menu (which would indicate that ctrl is stuck down). After a second keyboard swap, with a keyboard that is known-good, tested, and absoutely pristine, he reports that the F key and Ctrl key sometimes do not work, along with a couple other keys.

No accessibility options are active, and the BIOS on all machines in this office are identical. What could possibly be going on here, and what can I do about it?

Are you receiving any errors in Device Manager?

To get to device manager, do the following:
Start->Control Panel->Performance and Maintenance->System->Hardware Tab->Device Manager

Or

Type the following into the run dialog box (Located at: Start->Run)
devmgmt.msc

Let me know if there are any discrepancies.

I'm currently running Windows XP on my laptop and after working for a while the laptop and touch pad will lock up. They stop responding but things on the screen keep going. such as a web page loading or a program running so I know the whole laptop has not locked up. Other things on it such as the cd-rom work and such. I have tried to plug in a keyboard and a mouse but it still doesn't respond. I have even jumped over to Linux and reinstalled Windows a few times hoping it might fix it but I keep getting this problem.

A:Laptop keyboard and mouse stop working

It would help to know what kind of laptop it is..

You get the same problem even in Linux?
The separate mouse and keyboard you tried.. Were they USB or PS/2?
The embedded touchpad and keyboard may be hardwired to the PS/2 controller, that may be malfunctioning. USB keyboard and mouse should work.

A couple weeks ago while using my laptop, the keyboard and mouse pad suddenly froze up/lost power. No response to usb ports or cd drive. The screen stayed on, fan, power, even wifi connection stayed on, but couldn't get anything moving. The power button didn't respond so I had to unplug power and remove battery to shut it down. Worked fine after I restarted it.

Now, the same thing just happened again, on a DIFFERENT laptop with a different OS, browser, everything.

WTH?

Thanks

So i just started up my computer today, and after about 10 minutes, while on youtube, my mouse and keyboard stopped working. The lights on the keyboard and mouse where still on. I had to shut down my computer through the power button, and after i started it up, CHKDSK did a check on windows. After 10 minutes of booting it up again, (again being on youtube in mozilla firefox), same thing happened. I am typing this through safe mode and ran malwarebytes, but it doesn't detect anything.
What can i do to fix this? Thanks
