I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

I updated my laptop BIOS yesterday, downloading the file from Lenovo's website. The update went well, and the laptop restarted correctly after it. Then I shut down the lapotop after using it. Today, when I switched it on, I had just the image with the write LENOVO word on it, and the circle below it running as usual. It is maybe one hour that there is this screen on. any tips?

Hello there. I have a few questions regarding the recent release of BIOS update with version number CDCN37WW. Currently my BIOS is on version CDCN35WW. I was about to install it yesterday but did not because of several reasons. I read the instruction saying that I should put the BIOS settings at its default settings before installing the CDCN37WW update and there lies my problem. I bought the 15ISK version with 1TB HDD. A month ago I bought a 128GB SSD and did a clean install of Windows 10 on my new SSD. After booting into Windows 10 on my SSD in Legacy Mode, I format the partition in the 1TB HDD which houses my default installation of Windows 10 (the pre-installed Windows 10 by Lenovo). I did not completely wipe the HDD altogether and thus I still have the partitions created by Lenovo. The main issue that is stopping me from installing the update is my BIOS settiings. In BIOS boot submenu, I have it set to Legacy and then Legacy First so that it detects my SSD. UEFI does not detect my SSD. Default settings sets UEFI instead of Legacy. In conclusion, I cannot install the BIOS update even if I wanted to because I won't be able to boot into Windows 10 on my SSD once I change BIOS settings to default because UEFI (default settings is set to UEFI) does not detect my SSD. My questions are: -1. Does anyone have any solution or workaround to this problem ?2. Is it really compulsory to set the BIOS settings back default ? Or is it just a "... Read more

Hi everyone, I have this Ideapad 700 15ISK for a year and half now. The laptop started giving a random shut down issue 3 months back, after trying every possible solutions from the internet, none of them worked out. Someone suggested me to update the BIOS so I downloaded the BIOS for this model from the Lenovo support page. The update process went all fine from what I saw and the system tried to reboot but it's now stuck at the black screen only, the screen is however turned on but nothing shows up. The Lenovo logo does not appear and I can't access the BIOS settings either... None of the function keys seem to get me to the BIOS settings, even tried the NOVO key but still no luck. I read around that resetting the CMOS battery settings might solve the problem but I'm not sure about this am afraid of damaging the internal parts. Is there any ways I can solve this issue?

The same issue from BIOS 1.2.5 is happening with BIOS 1.2.6. After the update, the boot screen remain totally black (no Dell logo) and you cant enter in the BIOS interface (no video at all).
The workaround is to downgrade to BIOS version 1.2.3
The windows boots as usual, and maybe this is the reason that users havent noticed this issue.
The bios upgrade/downgrade is automated. No mouse clicks are needed. Just wait computer to boot and wait some minutes. After this (blind) downgrade (because there is no video), you will see the dell logo once again and everything works as usual.

I attempted to update the BIOS on my Inspiron 5565 (AMD-A10 9600P) from .1.0.5 to v1.0.8 using the 'BIOS flash update' with the BIOS update file downloaded (and md5 hash verified on a usb key) from the drivers download page:
http://www.dell.com/support/home/uk/en/ukbsdt1/Drivers/DriversDetails?driverId=C52F8
I followed the instructions on this support page:
http://www.dell.com/support/article/us/en/04/SLN171755/updating-the-dell-bios-in-linux-and-ubuntu-environments?lang=EN#Flashing%20a%20Dell%20BIOS%20in%20a%20Linux%20Only%20Environment
to copy the BIOS update file to the USB but when I find and select the file in the 'BIOS flash update' function it reads the USB key (usb key read/write light flashing) but prompts with 'Invalid file!'. I have not renamed the file at all and I also tried to update to the other downloadable BIOS update file, v1.0.6 but get the same error message 'Invalid File!'
Reason for trying to update via the BIOS update feature is that I have a blank hard drive and I'm having trouble loading Ubuntu 16.04.2 LTS (but seem to have no issue with Ubuntu 14.04 LTS) so trying to update the BIOS as first troubleshooting elimination step.
Any tips or suggestions most appreciated.

the BIOS that was shipped with my 510-15ISK (0XCN35WW) has a bug with hdd passwords... here's how to trigger it and how to work around it: 1) set a password from BIOS on the main harddrive2) power off, remove the DVD unit and install a SSD in that slot3) power back on, go in BIOS -> Security menu... discover that you can no longer set a password for HDDs or even remove/change existing passwords. apparently this situation where the laptop has 2 storage devices installed, one with password protection and one without causes a weird situation for the bios menu where it DISABLES all hdd-password related functions. my guess is that their logic goes something like this:- if hdd password is already set then disable the "set hdd passwords" menu. /endif- if hdd password not set then disable the "change master password" and "change user password" menus. /endif Normally, with a single HDD/SSD device connected, that logic works ok.... but with two storage devices the problem with this logic is that both menus will become disabled if one HDD/SSD has a password defined and the other storage device has no password defined. my work-around solution for this bug is:1) power off the system2) grab a screwdriver and remove temporarily one of the storage devices3) power on the system again and go in BIOS Security setup - define (or remove) the passwords for the device that you intend to configure. Save settings & reboot, press F2 to enter BIOS Setup again and leave i... Read more

Hello everyone! I ama new user and i am coming up with this post as I couldn`t find any kind of solution for my problem.Recently I decided to do a reinstallation of my operating system, which also previously was Windows 7 Ultimate (x64). The installation went as usual, and after finishing it I went on to install all the latest drivers from the Lenovo site, for my product. When getting close to installing almost all the drivers i`ve needed, i stumbled upon a new version of the BIOS amnd the drivers and sfotware recommended for my laptop, by the producer. So i proceeded to install the upgrade, restarted the computer when it prompted me to do so, but after the so-called restart the laptop did not boot up as usual. At first it was telling me to not do anything as the BIOS is being flashed and then it was telling me something about some sort of image processing, things that i did not understand at the time (i have never encountered anything like that). After that my screen turned black. I have not done anything for a few couple of minutes as i thought it was supposed to be like that, but then i just force shut it down and unplugged the AC adapter. When trying to boot it all up again, the only thing i got was a black screen and nothing else. After doing a little bit of research it appears that, somehowm i`ve managed to corrupt the bios on my laptop or something, and nothing else would work at this point. I tried to remove the BIOS battery and the ram and then put them all back, trye... Read more

I?m currently updating the BIOS of some Lenovo ThinkCentre M83 PC´s and I came across a problem. The Flash UEFI BIOS update (provide by Lenovo) worked almost perfectly on the first PC´s, despite it didn?t automatically open the console and started the flashing process.Anyways I did go on with my work. Almost all other PC´s had the problem that when the second phase (yellow font)/ afudos.exe imagefb.rom /defans /capsule /b /n /r /sp started the afuwin.exe stopped working (it crashed). It seemed like the Update wouldn?t get done this way so I decided to try it with the USB Flash method, also provided by Lenovo, but it also didn?t work. It says in the second phase ?15 - Error: Secure Flash function is not supported on this platform? Last but not least I tried to update the BIOS with the CD-ISO but when updating with this method it says that the BIOS-Version is too old. Some information about the system: ThinkCenter M83Type: 10BE0003GEOS: Windows 7 SP1 64bitBIOS-Revision: FBKT73AUSBIOS last Updated: 01.April.2014 Furthermore Information what I found out:BIOS-Revision seems to not matter (same version but some worked some not)Doesn?t matter if BIOS is set to UEFI only or Legacy onlySecure Boot also seems like it doesn?t matter if it´s on or notWhen the afuwin.exe crashes it only writes a return codeI use the update provided by this Page from Lenovo (Update: fbjycpusa)https://pcsupport.lenovo.com/de/de/downloads/ds035753 Thanks... Hi. I have a Lenovo B50-30 mode 80ES. It was set to require a password on startup starting with a capital "A". While experiencing charging problems, amongst other things, I updated the BIOS to 9CCN35WW, downloaded from the Lenovo support site. Since updating, the laptop no longer asks for a password on startup (No big deal, I applied a windows password), however, when pressing F2 to access the BIOS (which I need to do, the F keys are the wrong way round), it asks for a password, When pressing to strike a capital A, the laptop beeps and doesnt enter it. It wont accept capital letters anymore, therefore it wont accept the pre BIOS update password. I have referred the laptop to Lenovo service, including returning the laptop, and they have been nothing short of useless. They said they couldnt repair it under warranty because of "Marks, cracks, inappropriate treatment" and it would cost £255 for a replacement system board. I really couldnt see why I should pay for an issue created by their support system, so I asked them to return it unrepaired. Upon arrival, the laptop was immaculate, so I dont know what damage they were referring to. Is it possible to downgrade the BIOS to a pre update revision, to change the password and then reset it to one the new BIOS approves of? Thankyou in advance.

I just purchased a Lenovo Ideapad V110-15ISK with the intention of replacing the 500 gb hdd with a 480 gb ssd.  I used the Aoemei cloning software but it says the ssd is too small?  I haven't installed anything on the 500 gb hdd, I'm just going with it out of the box, so I thought cloneing to something 20 gb smaller shouldn't be an issue.  I made the Lenovo partician drive that's 24 gb smaller, to about 3 gb, and it cloned fine, but when I installed it back into the laptop, on start up I get a windows 10 boot error 0xc0000225.  I went ahead and made a boot usb and it boots, but then it wants me to install window 10 anew? I don't know what to do.  I love the laptop, I just want it running off of an ssd, and it should be simple, but I spent most of my Sunday on this and the anxiety is getting to me. I posted this a few min ago but the thread was gone a few min later, if this is improper formatting, please let me know and I'll make the changes, otherwise I'm just trying to get some help here.

Checked the devise driver
Checked settings
Downloaded driver for EasyCam from site for my laptop
Added an extra key to the register EnableFrameServerMode =0x0

Nothing works.

But starting Lenovo settings, it asked me to update it. Twice I've done that and it asks again to download updates.

What gives?

Hi all,  I'm sorry if I am beating a dead horse with this post. Today I purchased an Intel SSDPEKKW512G7X1 M.2-2280 512 GB SSD and installed it. For the past few hours I have been having trouble getting the BIOS to recognize it as a bootable drive so I can install Windows 10 onto it. Does anyone have any suggestions. Have turned off secure boot and turned on legacy support. Did check to see if it is DOA and it isnt. Thanks!
