32 bit update KB2589322 automatic updated on 64 bit system

Q: 32 bit update KB2589322 automatic updated on 64 bit system

Please assist. I have a 64 bit windows 7 home premuim and it is set to auto update. I noted the last updates dont what to install and checked the log.

The last successful (64 bit) update KB890830 ?Malicious software removal tool x 64? was on 16/8/2012. The next update was ?security update KB2589322 for 32 bit system. It was successful !! and so was a couple other following 32 bit updates. But then the next 64 bit updates failed. See attached.
And now my system cannot install updates. How can a 32 bit patch be automatically updating a 64 bit system? And how do I fix it? Please help.

Preferred Solution: 32 bit update KB2589322 automatic updated on 64 bit system

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

A: 32 bit update KB2589322 automatic updated on 64 bit system

Looks like that update is for Office and the 32 bit version. If you did not install the 64 bit version, the update is correct.

If you want to check, right click the white flag and open Windows Update. On bottom left, select Installed Updates and check the Office section.

These are not working/detecting updates for my system. They report no packages/drivers found/available for my system. However, if I go to the support site and manually browse through the drivers list, I find a few that are recommended (and newer than what I have installed) and one urgent (newer than I have installed)The urgent one is Intel ME for version 11.8.55.3510 - I have 11.8.50.3460 installedThe recommended one is Diagnostics Lite for version 4.22.0 - I have 4.20.1 installed When I run the following command, I get; c:\drivers\win\me\meinfowin.exe Intel MEInfo Version: 11.8.50.3460 Any ideas why new drivers are not being detected? This happened once before, and I manually installed the drivers. I have not manually installed these latest drivers yet. My system is Windows 10 Pro - Version 1803 - Build 17134.191BIOS - N1DET98W 2.24Vantage - 4.12.13.0System Update 5 - 5.07.0072Lenovo Service Bridge - 4.0.6.4Support Automatic Driver Update - what's provided on support.lenovo.com ThanksDoug

A:P70: Vantage/System Update 5/Automatic Driver Update not detecting drivers/updates

Vantage and Lenovo System Update both use the SU catalog. The SU catalog is updated with the new driver around 30 days after it shows up on the support page.Lenovo must quality test the driver and build .XML entries for the catalog. Thus your support page has the most current drivers.

When i got there, i checked the services running and notice the donet 2.0 is failing and the sql reporting service wont start, even when manually started. further to this i tried to remove or repair the dontnet and got a setup error that it encountered a prob during setup then shuts down. I feel like I'm about ready to have a Sam Kennison moment! A week ago we got slammed by the system fix virus. Besides it's obvious show and tell with the buy here now - it disables my internet access by screwing with my dhcp client service and not giving me an ip address????I followed the self help on this site (which is a Godsend, thank you very much)- I had to put everything on a flashdrive and run the rkill, tdsskill (I can't remember if I could get the maleaware anti virus thing to run at that time) - through the safe mode command prompt as I couldn't do a darn thing through either safe mode or safe mode with networking. BTW tdsskill couldn't find anything.Once I was able to get into windows and run the the rkill and then tdsskill and a mcafee stinger - I still couldn't connect to the internet - no ip address. I tried several stand alone anti virus to no avail - they wouldn't find anything. I then looked at the install log and noticed that windows had downloaded a bunch of updates I didn't remember seeing. For good or for bad I did a system restore back as far as it would let me - I think like 5 days. I then really quickly ran everything all over again first through safe mode command prompt and then when windows opened - I ran everything through there too -and FINALLY had internet access again and downloaded AVAST and ran it and it promptly found some of the virus. I rebooted and avast ran a boot scan and found more of th viru... Read more

Since its encounter a couple of weeks ago, I have been unsuccessful in fully downloading and installing this specific Driver for my computer. Is there any indication of issues for this Drive? And what should I do to resolve it? Also, if the Driver can't be properly updated, what is its purpose for my system? Any form of help concerning this Driver update issue would be appreciated.

Is it still possible to create a system recovery  if I have updated system  from original Win 7 to Win 8.1 and finally to win 10. If a factory recovery is possible does it reset to win 10 or does it go back to original windows setup that came from the factory as win 7.
As a separate issue, after updating system to win 10 I had a problem one day in that windows would not come up. At that time I thought I would do a system recovery but instead apparently I did a full recovery. .Fortunately after I originally updated to win 10 I did run a system back up on win 10 that I still have stored on a separate hard drive. As it stands I have win 10 running but without any of my  previously installed programs. My question is this, is still possible to recover win 10 that I have backed up on a separate hard drive that would include all my programs etc
I hope I have not confused everybody with my explanation. I am only a novice at computers but have found out that I learn a great deal when trying to get out of a jam such as this.
Any help is appreciated,

Hello folks - first post, so you have my apologies if I don't quite get the format correct.I did a search for this problem and didn't find anything - my apologies again if this type of problem has already been addressed.First of all, I'm running Windows Vista Ultimate with SP1 (32 bit) on a Dell Latitude D830 with 2.20GHz processor and 4GB RAM.A short while back, a command box has been flashing every twenty or thirty seconds with a heading having something to do with Windows Update (from what I can read, the cmd box comes and goes very quickly). This came with a Windows Security alert saying that the Windows Automatic Updates were disabled. When I attempted to re-enable automatic updates, I got the message[Window Title]Windows Security Center[Main Instruction]Security Center can't change your automatic updating settings. 100 meg isn't really very much for restore points.

Hi everyone, sorry for posting another thread about this, but after doing some digging on my own, I thought it was getting kind of heavy so I put it here in the advance forum. Here is what I have done so far in trying to restore my automatic system checkpoints. As before, system restore will not create the "system checkpoint" for me at a given time interval. I will list what I have done so far to help diagnose my problem. I followed all the steps on this link by Bert: http://bertk.mvps.org/html/srauto.html I typed eventvwr.msc in the run line. Clicked system on the left, then source on the right. I found some events for sr, but these were the ones I did myself when turning off, then back on system restore. Task scheduler and system restore services are running. I confirmed this by typing cmd, then net start in the run line. I have the space allowed on my hard drive set to the max, and there are 25 GB free. I am able to create manual system restore points and they are also created if I install/uninstall a program. I have reinstalled system restore using the sr.inf file. I used the "xpsystemrestoreponitsfrequency.vbs" to change my time interval to 1 hour just to see if it worked, but it didn't. I checked my registry settings for system restore. Disable SR is set to 0. Restore status is set to 1 (I posted that because I thought one means disable in the registry, but I don't know what restore status is) I do have a screen saver on, my system is set s... Read more

So i just went to the latest chipset drivers which i don't know if made any difference but at least they are updated, so was wondering if i should also update these things on my MSI Z77A-G45 mainboard,

Should i update this if so how do i get it as this is latest from motherboard manufacture, its the Intel(R) Management Engine Components i have version 9.5.15.1730 also should i update this intel rapid storage technolagy i have version 12.8.0.1016. any advice on these would be great just updating stuff i went with the new chipset as it look like it supports win 10 so if i update i will need it anyhow , but as far as these other drivers what should i do and should i update them if they have new versions.

A:i just updated chipset drivers should i update these too?

If your system runs stable, there is no need for updating. Updating these components can cause more trouble than benefits.
Your board manufactorer should offer the valid versions of Rapid Storage and Management Engine for you board.

hey all, I bought a sempron 3000+ to fit my pc. my mobo is an asus a7v8x. the cpu was running at only 1.6 ghz so i read that if i updated the bios i could change the multiplier settings to the correct ones for the cpu. i downloaded the updated bios and used ez flash to update with a floppy disk. the update completed successfully, but now nothing happens when i power up. everything appears to be ok, as in no beeping but i have a blank screen. i tried wiping the cmos back to default but no joy. can anyone help??? and does anyone know how to correct the mobo so the sempron will run at its correct speed.....
any help will be greatly appreciated.

A:updated bios with blank screen after update

It is doubtful that a cmos reset would fix the problem.

The first step is to check the video card and processor seating on the mainboard. If you have added a new processor, your video card may have moved during the install. Take the video card out and reinstall it.

Secondly, if the problem is in the BIOS then you will have to take it to an experienced technician to be reflashed. One of the reasons I bought a Gigabyte m/b was the 'dual bios' to save you from this sort of problem. I don't think ASUS have that feature (at least it not listed on the A7V8X web page).

Don't forget that the Sempron 3000+ runs at 1.8ghz or 2.0ghz depending on the model. So don't expect the bios to show it running at 3.0ghz.

I just restored my laptop to factory defaults. It came with Windows 7 Home Premium SP1. So after it was restored and all sorted out, I chose Windows Update to install updates automatically, which it did fine. It installed two updates by itself and notified me I needed to restart.

After restarting I ran update check again and it came back with over 200 updates (expected), however I chose a couple of updates to install, like IE11 and Framework 4.something, set it going and... That's where it went tits ups. Got stuck on "downloading 0%" for at least an hour. In the end I stopped the update service. I had a look at the two updates it first installed. One was a security update I believe but the other was Windows Update Agent 7.6.7600.320. I've been googling and it seems I'mnot the first to encounter issues with this agent update, though I didn't get any errors, just the fact it seemed to be stuck on downloading but not doing anything.

I've now restored the laptop again, so I'm back to square one, only this time i turned auto update off. As far as i can tell that agent it installed is the latest version for 7sp1, can anyone suggest anything i could do to prevent the damn thing bugging out again?

I see you made a new configuration thread. You can use the small "thread tools" option on the top to edit your config. Moderators will remove old one or merge your 2 threads I guess.

I have had my Dell 8700 for little over a year and have had problems from the beginning.  I am 72 years old, and I am at my wits end!!!

A hard drive was replaced in the summer of 2015, but I have still had problems with the computer shutting down and my having to refresh it to factory setting.

I thought updating to Windows 10 would solve some problems, and I did this in October, 2015.  Everything was fine until a couple of months ago.  The end result was when I tried to refresh the computer to factory defaults, it went back to 8.0 or 8.1, and I evidently lost something in the process.
Now, I cannot update to Windows 10 and when I tried to resinstall the Dell Operating System, I get for both:  "WE COULDN'T UPDATE THE SYSTEM RESERVED PARTITION."
I DO HAVE A SYSTEM BACKUP ON 20 CDS (MADE WHEN I HAD WINDOWS 10).  Could I reinstall the system with these backupdisks?  How do I do that?  I also have a Dell 2 Boot USP stick, I have a recovery stick, too, but it semed that when I used this, I received a message that not all files were recovered
What should I do at this point?

A:Error message when trying to update to Windows 10 or to reinstall operating system 8.1: We couldn't update the system reserved partition."

On MBR disk, Windows 10 requires a 500MB system reserved partition, while 100MB in Windows 7, so you can try to extend system reserved partition.
In disk management, you can only extend partition using the unallocated space next to its right side. so even if you shrink D: drive, the option to extend the efi partition is still grayed out. My suggestion is to use a third party software, AOMEI Partition Assistant, both the standard (free) or the Professional(paid) version can extend partition as long as there is unallocated space on that hard drive. to see more information read:

I keep getting the "NTVDM CPU has encountered and illegal instruction" every time windows update tries to run (wuauclt.exe) and updates won't install. This started after the new Windows UPdate Agent was installed around 6/14. No updates have installed since then, I just get the popup errors. I run several scans with Malwarebytes, Spybot, AVG and nothin was found. I ran the Fixit tool from MS and it indicated that there was a problem with windows update agent and the problem was fixed, but it still doesn't work. I'd love to reinstall windows update agent, but windows won't let me. Even the \wuforce command won't force a reinstall. Can anyone have any ideas?

A:updates won't install after windows update agent updated

Welcome to the forums blabay,

*Reset windows update settings by following this tutorial
Windows Update - Reset

*Uninstall Spybot & AVG replace with MSE do a full scan to get rid any virus
Microsoft Security Essentials - Free Antivirus for Windows

Several times a day I get a message that software updates are available for my HP ENVY 4520 printer. I updated this printer months ago and no further updates are available since then. I have gone onto the HP web site to confirm this. I can not get this notification to disappear and it is very annoying. I have used the update feature on my printer to confirm that it is up to date. How do I get this notification to stop.

hi, i downloaded thru the vaio update the latest realtek driver version 6.0.1.6526. Now i have no sound whatsoever and neither sony or realtek have replied to my emails. the speaker icon in the bottom rh corner has am=n x in it like its muted but when i hover over it it says no audio output device is installed. i have been to the sony support site and tried re-updating version 6.0.1.6526 but it still has no sound... help! running win 7 home prem 64bit on a sony vaio c series vpccb15fg.
I have uninsalled and reinstalled driver to no avail

A:updated realtek driver thru vaio update and now i have no sound

Did you try a "rollback" to the previous version (that apparently worked)? Go to the Device Manager, display the sound and in the Driver section you can "rollback" the driver to the previously installed version. Or if that does not work, use the System Restore and restore the PC back to a date when the old driver was installed and it worked.

Some months ago, while having firefox 41, I got an adware that I believe that came in from flash.
At the first signs some resources on my PC were not corresponding to my usage and the programs I had opened, I noticed its presence using Task Manager. Unfortunately, It had already installed some extensions and had changed the home page of my 2 browsers (IE and Firefox).

In 1-2 hours, I was able to remove almost all traces of the adaware. No registery keys, no ProgramData, no %appdata% and no browser addons were left out when I got rid of it.

Since then, I've been noticing that firefox is unable to update automatically.
I do not use the update service because I want to know when it wants to update and I want to see what is new every time it updates.

As the time when firefox had been changed and this adaware happened seem to quincide, same as being convenient not wanting me to keep my browser for the adaware program, I guess it was the adaware that changed some file or configuration... Maybe in the registry.

So far, I can confirm the following:

There's no record in the registry with either "mozilla" or "firefox" as a key or Value with an incorrect value
Note: I can't say anything about missing keys or values, though.

If I go to Firefox's "about" window, it says it is updated.
When the auto-update window popups, it says it failed to connect to the update server.
Things that do NOT work:

Making a new firefox profile and work with it.

Try SFC to look for and attempt to fix corrupt system files.  Start an administrator command prompt and issue this command: sfc /scannow .  You could also download & run MalwareBytes to make sure you've gotten rid of any malware on your system.

 Good luck.

Hi Guys

Just noticed this yesterday when i updated my Laptop via Windows Update, that this update updates the explorer.exe, which will effect if you got a Custom start button installed.

After installing the update, you'll have to restart and when you are back from the restart your start button will now be changed to the default Windows 7 Start button, so you'll have to change it again if you wanna have a custom start button.

Note: I dont know if this update is out for x86 based systems

Name:
Updated for Windows 7 for x64-based systems (KB977074)
Just wanted to let you all know

A:Be Aware Updated Explorer.exe : Windows Update KB977074

It is for both. Fixes 3 issues, one having to do with notification icons, so probably why explorer.exe is updated.

I'd go to the Programs and Features applet of the Control Panel and uninstall Malwarebytes, then reboot and reinstall it.  After that I'd run chkdsk on my hard drive and let it check for and attempt repair of any bad sectors.

Hi,  I bought a brand new HP Envy 15 Model: 15-ae108nia. I didnt get any CD when I buy. It came with Windows 10 Home.since Win 10 home dont have Hyper-V, The 3rd party supplier have downgraded the win 10 home to Win 8.1 Pro.He didnt back up anything before downgrading process. Now, I am being told the win 8.1 Pro is genuin and it worked fine for a week then i was getting error message "Display Driver is not working" the machine goes blank for a while. then after 10 days after doing the win updates Most of the drivers have become unavailable like sound, internet drive etc.  This laptop is high config - 16Gb Ram  and I7 Processor brand new laptop. 1) the problem is with laptop or windows ? 2) what cause this problems ? 3) what are the possibilities, If i want to get the win 10 home as it was before downgrading it to win8 pro ? Thank you

A:Drivers Not Available after system updated HP Envy 15

Hard to say what causes the problem. Windows 8.1 updates are the likely reason and since I do not know your 3rd party supplier I am not 100% sure you got legitimate software, but that is not likely. I don't understand why the supplier did not go ahead and do the free upgrade to Windows 10 if he bothered to install a legitimate Windows 8.1 Pro, but you can go ahead and do what the supplier should have done.  Windows 10 driver download page for your machine be sure to select Windows 10 from the pulldown menu. Drivers are posted for 7 and 10 only: http://support.hp.com/emea_africa-en/drivers/selfservice/HP-ENVY-15-Notebook-PC-series/8502643/model... Just do the Microsoft upgrade to Windows 10 and you will have Windows 10 Pro. You only have until sometime in July to do it for free. The other choice is to order recovery disks from HP for your model and wipe it clean. But then you will have Windows 10 Home and no Hyper-V which is the problem in the first place.  https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/virtualization/hyperv_on_windows/quick_start/walkthrough_compatibil... The posted Windows 10 drivers will work on Windows 10 Pro. Generally the upgrade from 8.1 to 10 is seamless and in your case should be very smooth since yours is a Windows 10 native machine.  Just start the upgrade from here: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10/ If you have no internet on the laptop you are going to have to make a DVD or thumb ... I was trying to fix an BT issue & I started updating drivers through win 10 device manager. When I restarted it wouldn't boot so I shut down, removed the CMOS battery & rebooted, got in, discovered that a Lenovo driver had been installed instead of Acer so I deleted it in device manager.  Upon reboot I get a flashing start botton, HDD light flashes, CPU fan spins, but no POST, no sound, no monitor (monitor power light appears as if asleep). I've tried removing the battery again but nothing works.  (BTW, I did drop the battery on the edge of the MB this time by accident, they could be better located but I don't think that this is the cause, but may be.) I believe the flashing power led indicates it is asleep but rebooting should take that out as a possibility.  If I could determine what that means maybe I could try something else.  Everything was working except intermittant BT issues. Any ideas?  Please help!

I don't know how you would go about changing your forum login name.

Will the system boot into safe mode?
Tap the F8 key once a second during the boot process.

Which SP of Win XP Home?

Was the Norton 360 update pushed to you by Symantec [ arrive automatically ] or did you manually obtain it?

Was it downloaded over ethernet or wireless?

If wireless, try to remove the update, then download the update over ethernet.

I would be interested to know what Sym tech support has to suggest.

Everytime I try to run Windows Update, it tells me it encountered an unknown error and gives me that code.

I ran SURT, it didn't fix the problem.

I opened an elevated Command Prompt and ran sfc /scannow. It told me that it found corrupt files but it could not correct them. I even ran it in Safe Mode and also at boot and it still couldn't fix the corrupt files. I have attached the log file for that, the CBS log file and the DISM log file. Attempting to run Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /CheckHealth gave me error code 87.

I have also tried to run the Windows system repair feature on the install DVD but even that was unsuccessful in solving the problem.

I don't have any restore points prior to 6-17-15 when the issue started since they were deleted in an attempt to fix this problem.

I don't have any registry backups prior to 6-17-15 either, although another user was performing registry edits on this laptop and deleted the backups that he created.

I have the correct original System32 file and all of it's contents on my desktop that I extracted from a Windows 7 install DVD that I can use if needed but I am uncomfortable with replacing these files without knowledgable help.

Hopefully this will give you enough information to help me solve this problem.

Thanks in advance.
