Anyone use Dropbox for Teams?

Q: Anyone use Dropbox for Teams?

I am an independent consultant who uses Dropbox rather frequently. I have a client with 10 users in an accounting firm that need to share documents. I would like to recommend Dropbox for Teams but am confused by the 5 user license? All 10 users will be sharing and have access to the same folders, no access control needed, do they still need 10 separate accounts even if there is less than 10 computers, and all 10 users are sharing the same folder?

I recommend trying the free service from Zip Cloud. It's currently our users' favorite backup and storage solution and will save you headaches down the line.

You can get it direct from this link http://goo.gl/rFYDxc. (This link will open the Zip Cloud homepage.)

My operating system is Mac OS X Version 10.7.5. Earlier, I accidentally quit Dropbox (from my Menubar). The green checkmark that indicates all files are updated was still there prior to my quitting the application. But when I quit Dropbox, it disappeared from my Menubar. I then downloaded and installed the latest version of Dropbox for Mac, and now the icon appears on my Menubar... but it's still connecting. It's been like this for around 4 hours already. I don't understand why my Dropbox folder doesn't indicate "connected" and why I can't access the Dropbox website, because I'm able to connect to the Internet.

I need to access my updated Dropbox folder (urgent). Please help, and thanks in advance!

A:Solved: My Dropbox folder won't update + the Dropbox website won't load.

I see you've marked your thread as being "solved". Would you please be so kind as to reply back what the solution was as this can be helpful to others who may experience the same problem.

Hi there,

So my dropbox has stopped working on my win 7 pc. It started first with the tray icon disappearing and now it doesn't sync or anything at all.

I tried writing to dropbox support but they said they didn't have time to respond to my enquiry (something along those lines), so here I am asking you guys.

A little info that might be relevant. When my computer was set up, it was given the name PC. I wanted to change that, so I found a resource that explained how. A little registry editing and some other stuff. I don't know if this has had an effect or not, but thought I should mention it anyways.

Hope you can help.

Every time I login to my PC microsoft teams opens. This started around a week ago. I have it disabled in task manager and have uninstalled it multiple times through control panel and going to C:\Users\(my user)\Appdata\Roaming\Microsoft and C:\Users\(my user)\Appdata\Roaming\Microsoft Teams and deleted everything related to it that I could see. Yet it continues to open at startup for whatever reason and seemingly reinstall itself. I have tried scanning with Malwarebytes and Windows Defender to no avail. Restarting does nothing and I have no pending updates in windows update. I never prompted this, and was never even aware that MS Teams existed before this happened. How can I stop this from happening?

Posting this while in the middle of a THREE HOUR call with technical & customer support.  I'm connecting my TB16 to an Alienware 15 R3 and the TB16 has issues with USB peripherals (mouse, keyboard, and audio interface) where it would disconnect periodically.  Sometimes it would work for a week, sometimes for only 10 seconds...extremely inconsistent.  BIOS and Drivers are all up to date.  So I basically connect my peripherals directly to the laptop, and use TB16 for display port and ethernet.
Prior to purchasing the TB16, Dell confirmed that it would work with my AW 15 R3.  I finally called Dell tech support to resolve this issue, but they sent me to Alienware Premium support because they say this is an Alienware issue.  Alienware then say they do not troubleshoot Dell docks at all and sent me back to Dell support, who (not surprisingly) say they can't solve this issue because it is an Alienware issue.  So all this back and forth, from speaking with 7 different reps, I finally get sent back to Alienware premium support team again, and they tell me that Alienware do not support the TB16 and that they ABSOLUTELY cannot help at all.  My biggest gripe is that no one is taking responsibility for this and I'm being passed along from 1 rep to the next. (I almost think I'm on the phone with Comcast customer service)
I'm past 30 days for a return and refund, so they only option I have now is to exchange it for another TB16... Read more

A:Dock TB16 USB connection issues - Tech support teams not taking responsibility

Some recent BIOS updates for various systems have caused intermittent disconnects and reconnects for USB devices attached to TB16 docks (and I think I've seen the WD15 mentioned too, but I can't remember).  There are several threads on this topic right now just in the first page or two of this forum because they're all very active. Unfortunately, downgrading back to an earlier BIOS does NOT seem to resolve the issue, perhaps because some component that's updated in the BIOS update can't be (or simply isn't) downgraded even when the main BIOS firmware is. The good news is that Dell has acknowledged the issue, and just today a Dell rep advised that a new BIOS update currently being tested internally appears to have solved the issue and should therefore be released shortly.  That thread admittedly pertains to the XPS 13 9360, but since this problem was introduced on several systems at around the same time when they all got BIOS updates, it's reasonable to expect that the fix will come for all affected systems around the same time.So if you haven't already, don't bother sending your TB16 in for an exchange.  It will very likely prove a waste of time -- and if you DO somehow turn out to have a lemon TB16, presumably your warranty will still be active after the new BIOS updates are released, so you can do the exchange then.

Q: DropBox

Hello - After years of successfully using DropBox on my various devices, all of which allowed me to access all documents as most recently saved, I have suddenly hit a problem.
On my main machine - a Desktop as below - I save documents in my Dropbox folder but despite seeming to be in DropBox, they are not accessible from my other devices. Older documents are accessible. I think this means that I am saving it to a folder in my Hard drive called DropBox, but that is not going to the DropBox cloud.
I think I have mistakenly adjusted a setting, probably when I was setting up my new Surface Pro with DropBox. Any help much appreciated as I am lost without it.
Many thanks

Q: Dropbox

Hi guys.

I,m having a bit of a problem,(Not serious), accessing my work dropbox from my home pc.
I have my own personal dropbox account but also have a company dropbox account on my work comp.
Thing is, when using my home comp, and open dropbox I cannot see any option to log in using my work account. My home account isn,t the free one, and I,d expect to be able to login to my work files using my email/password etc? Its not a security issue on my work account or anything as I can take my work lappy home every night and access through it. Can you run two separate Dropbox accounts from one machine? (Dont see why not).

Any help much appreciated.

You can, see here: https://www.dropbox.com/en/help/61

If you need to occasionally just access files from one Dropbox then you can just sign into the Dropbox webpage and download/upload the files you need thought the website instead of using the Dropbox client software.

I need the Dropbox Plus for Quicken, so I want the other one to go away. I also want my phone to be able to communicate with the correct program. My problem seems to be that the email addy attached to the Dropbox Plus account no longer exists, and Dropbox wants to send me a password at another email addy that also no longer exists before it will change that replaced addy. How can I merge these two accounts in the original one (with Quicken backup) so that pix taken with my phone will be shared like the other account?

What is the best way to use Dropbox to store an automatic backup of my C: drive?

Dropbox by default does not backup your computer. Now you could do this a few ways. I think the easiest would be to use something such as Acronis, or Windows Backup and save the backups to the Dropbox folder (when you install the Dropbox software on your computer there is a Dropbox folder that is created and synced to the cloud)

I think the real issue with that is going to be the space limitation. Might want to look at something such as Back Blaze

On this computer, I installed Dropbox last week, when we installed Windows 7. Ever since then, when the computer boots into Windows, the setup for Dropbox appears. It only does that on this computer.

How do I get it to stay?

A:Dropbox keeps Resetting

I mean, by "setup" is that the popup window pops up, the one that you see after you just installed the app. It's the one that says

"I already have a dropbox account" and "I don't have a dropbox account" something like that. I have to click the "I already have a dropbox account" and go through the setup (ex. Enter email and password and it syncs everything to the computer from my Dropbox).

Also, the printer settings will go back to default, even though I press apply and OK. Not everything resets, just some things, like Dropbox and the printer.

Hi guys,
I've got dropbox currently installed on my computer and I'm considering encrypting the entire Windows OS partition using Truecrypt (as the software provides one of these options).
1) Am I right in saying that as my Dropbox folder will be in my encrypted Truecrypt partition, it will also be encrypted?
2) Will I be able to access these Dropbox files from the Dropbox website on another computer that does not have Truecrypt installed (I'm guessing not)? What if I have Truecrypt portable on a USB drive?
3) How will shared folders in Dropbox work, if they will automatically be encrypted upon downloading on my Dropbox folder from another Dropbox user? Will others be able to access them?
Thanks in advance for the help

In my knowledge:
1. Yes,TrueCrype will encrypted whole partition.
2. Yes,but it won't be encrypted. (Not sure because its docs not have about dropbox but I think it same with Network Share Folder.)
3. Not Sure, but I think it will be encrypted after syncing finnished.

Hey everyone,
This one is a bit of a mystery to me, I was wondering if anyone could help.
We have a users PC on our work network who cannot get Dropbox to work.
The problem is the installation;
When we go to install Dropbox (using Admin credentials) it will ask for the Dropbox username and Password. When typed in it the Window will disappear and Dropbox will not be installed. (we have tried multiple credentials)
We have tried this on the PC's log on (not the domain) and it worked. We have also installed Dropbox successfully on other PC's on our Network. This PC has a fresh installation of Windows 7 the same as the others with Dropbox.
The Dropbox website suggests that this can be caused by an Anti-Virus getting in the way but when installing Dropbox no AV was installed (we wanted to try Dropbox before we installed it)
Any ideas would be great,

(I had a similar post which touched on this, but I want the focus to be entirely on this, as it's very important that I set this up right.)

I have a class of 33 5th graders starting late August. Here's the setup I want:

Note: All kids will have an email and Dropbox account of their own; they'll establish these at home. At school we have 4 ipads plus 12-13 netbooks, and all will have Dropbox installed. The kids will use these daily, but they are NOT assigned to individual students; that is, Chloe might use an ipad one day, a netbook the next, and another different netbook the next.

The kids will use these throughout the day for various purposes: reports, searches, documents, create powerpoints and videos, etc, etc. The most important thing is that their work can be accessed easily both at home and school. So, they work on a powerpoint at school, save it to their DB folder, then at home they open it up and continue working. And while they're home, maybe they find some images or video clips they want to use for this or that project, so they dump those in their DB folder and use them at school. THAT is what we need to do. I've been told that DB is ideal for that.

So here's my understanding of how it will work (please tell me where/if my thinking is off.)

* At home on my computer I have Dropbox set up with a "resources" folder into which I will place documents, videos, links, etc, that the kids can access as needed. This will be publi... Read more

When I try to do it, it pins Windows Explorer instead, so I have to right click and select the DropBox folder from the list. It would nice if there was a way to directly go to the folder.

A:How to pin DropBox to taskbar?

One thing you can do is change the default starting location for Windows Explorer.
Method #1:Start > All Programs > Accessories > Right Click "Windows Explorer"
Change the target field from: %SystemRoot%\explorer.exe
to %SystemRoot%\explorer.exe /n, /e, <New Path>

i.e. %SystemRoot%\explorer.exe /n, /e, %USERPROFILE%\DropBox
or %SystemRoot%\explorer.exe /n, /e, C:\Users\username\DropBox
Method #2:Shift+Right Click the Taskbar Icon > Properties
Now follow the rest of the process as you would with the above method.
Otherwise, you can create a toolbar and place a shortcut to that folder within the toolbar.

I am interested in both but I am seeking help from the MT community on which of these (From A Security POV) would be a better choice, as I will be utilizing the paid version of the most secure option. I do currently have a free MEGA Acct. But when it comes to a Paid account I want the best security for my buck, thats why I am asking here brfore I step up and pay for either option. I am more interested in which will protect my files and data best.
I don't care about storage size, sync perks, free or paid, ect.
I don't think MEGA is hosted in the US, while DropBox is hosted in US (I think) as their main is in Cali and MEGA is in New Zeland. Correct me if I am wrong, and does this have an impact for either of these from a security standpoint ?
Thanks for your feedback in advance.
