I am looking for a simple WYSIWYG HTML editor to edit simple pages, that will work in Windows 7

Any suggestions?

I am not building web sites or applications .. I simply have a few local visual web pages that I run off a local drive ( kindda like portal pages). Dirt simple. Modest needs!

For years, I have been using Microsoft Frontpage 2000 - it was perfect. I still ahve the CD, but t would like not work anymore with WIndows 7 / Office 2003..and I dont want to start corrupting files.

So I am looking for a replacement . either free or up to $50.

I tried WebPlus, but gave up after 30 minutes of convoluted back and forth licencring and activation nonesene... on the free version!!. It insisted on a prodcut key, not supplied, and there were no retuen email address - and no one to write to and no way to contact them, with going thru dozens of FAQ pages. GOODBYE. Thats 30 minutes I will never get back.

I downloaded Komposer, but there was no way to isntall it. No setpup file; onlynested zip files. GOODBYE.

I downlaoded NVU, same as Komposer. Hopeless.

I really did not want ro go back to NOTEPAD, but , gotta say, its looking really really really good right now! In fact I will be changing my IE9 default web editor to NOTEPAD for now ( if it takes it)

Was hoping there we would at leat ONE product out there, that worked on Windows 7, that could easily be downaloded and installed, in less than two hours,, and had a WYSIWYG editor, to edit a local web page. I know thats pushing the limits, but I thought bieng 2011 and all, there might be something out there.

I apologize for my sarcasm - its jsut that this is so absolutely frustrating. After all my seasoned years of computing, and all the advances, I was hoping for much better Windows experience. Its consuming so much of my valuable time judt to getthe basics going. Time ways from my family, hobbies ...and use of the computer !!! . judt had another nightmare with PerfectDisk12- It never ends.

Preferred Solution: WYSIWYG HTML editors

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

been a while since i coded any html butr I do recall notepad being one of the best! (although not wisywig but it almost is if you keep saving and refreshing the browser window)

Last time I used Expression Web and HTMLKIT.

I'm looking for a free WYSIWYG html editor ala dreamweaver and front page. I know that there is one in development for linux, but Nvu is currently not finished. I tried 1stpage once, and didnt really like it. Anyone else tried anything they really like. I mean, if i have to i can always use notepad, but i have used dreamweaver at school, and web development goes exponentially faster with the proper tools.

I just recently started seeing this problem - bring up any webpage in IE8, then select print preview - all it shows is the raw html, not wysiwyg. The only way I found to resolve this is to go into Control Panel > Programs > Default Programs > Set program access and computer defaults, then select the Custom configuration and then click the "Internet Explorer" radio button and click "OK". When I select print preview in IE8 now, it shows the wysiwyg view of the webpage and prints correctly. The problem is - I have set the program access in control panel every time Windows7 starts. Every time I go into control panel to set the program access, it seems to reset it to "Use my current Web browser". Any ideas how to permanently fix this so I don't have to keep resetting?

A:Printing problem in IE8 - html instead of wysiwyg

I can set the size on mine to 100% and it is WYSIWYG.

Shows full page when I originally click Print Preview. Change to 100% and it is WYSIWYG or anything between.

Shrink to fit is where it starts up to 200% and there is a custom option.

I will soon be working on my website, and I was wondering if anyone knows of good HTML Editors to use.
I am mainly looking for something that I can set all the links up while offline. I was using Frontpage Express last time and the webpage worked fine on my PC but when I uploaded it I had lots of trouble getting all the links fixed up (The online pages were trying to link to files on my computer).
I would also like something that is very simple to use.

A:HTML Editors

I use Dreamweaver, and am happy with it. I have also used Frontpage Express, and you will like Dreamweaver much better. As there are many sites that offer tips and help with Dreamweaver, you should find all sorts of useful lthings to do.

Please, someone help me figure this out. I have tried everything from using different file types to using different internet browsers. A few months ago I had a serious CryptoWall 3.0 infection. Thanks to a very helpful person on this site, I was able to eradicate the virus by using a number of different softwares and virus protectors. However, ever since then, anytime I go to a site that uses an HTML editor, for example Tumblr, creating a website on Wix or uploading images for a listing on Etsy, it tells me my image is not a supported file type. I have used ALL file types, so please do not offer this as a solution. However, if I upload an image to Twitter, deviantART, or an email, it works perfectly fine. According to a route scanner that Tumblr support did, something on my computer is blocking the upload of the images. I have tried disabling all of my anti-virus software, as well, and that doesn't work, either. How do I fix this? I am an artist starting my own business and I NEED to be able to upload images to promote my own work. Please, someone help me. I'll tell more information should it be needed and asked for. I'd love for one of the helpers on this site who knows their way around a computer to help me, as I'm out of ideas. Thanks.

I know this "problem" probably has a very simple solution, but forgive me, I'm currently brain dead (thanks to chronic pain meds) & can't figure out how to go about it.

I'm using Win 7 with a rather old HP Scanjet (which I know isn't supported etc, but it works perfectly for my needs & is the only one I've found that can adequately scan thick documents, in my case, decoupage cards), and a Canon IP4700 printer with manually refilled inks.

Now, my problem currently is that I suspect the scanner to perhaps be part of the problem, but when I scan particular papers (background papers that I use for putting on the cards), the colours never seem 100% what I want. And certainly, when it comes to printing, they are far removed from the original e.g. pinks turn out lilac, blues turn out grey, & reds turn out pink (of sorts).

Since I can't afford to start buying full price inks again, and can't find another scanner that will do the job I need, I'm lost as to find a way of at least figuring out perhaps which hardware is the culprit.

Or, is it likely that in the current setup I'm never going to succeed in being able to get reasonable accurate colour copies of anything I scan?

Finally, does anyone know of any other quality scanner that could cope with thick items (all the previous ones I tried, in particular, AIO's, couldn't in any sense), so that perhaps I could maybe find a cheap secondhand one to try??

Thanks for any input/suggestions you could provide f... Read more

A:WYSIWYG question

I'm not so sure that hardware is your problem. If everything is working, i.e. you can scan to your computer and print from it using the scanner and printer you mentioned, then the problem doesn't lie there.

As you quite rightly state, not all devices (particularly older models) are officially supported by MS and/or the hardware manufacturer. That does not mean to say that they won't work, in a number of cases they will work with limitations. Some of these limitations may be down to colour profiles, and you should ensure that these are set appropriately for your hardware. By doing this, you ensure that colours are displayed and printed as they should be. However, age also plays a part, and you might need to tweak these settings ocassionally to ensure consistent results.

Finally, you state that you use refillable inks. These are not to the manufacturer's specifications and can give rise to incorrect colours being printed.

Having said all that, your best bet might be to purchase a new printer/scanner to suit your needs. Your local computer hardware store should have plenty for you to look at, and many will also let you try them out before you buy, if you ask.

Hopefully, this is an easy problem to solve. It's late, so I may not be thinking correctly and I apologize if this is dumb.

How do I print what I see in the browser (with a caveat)?
Caveat: I want the whole/logical browser window, not just the screen snapshot, which could be cut & paste into paint brush (which I did multiple times to construct this example).

So, I go to HuffingonPost.com and I see something on the order of the attached screen. I can scroll down. Everything is human-readable. I want a printout, which I would expect to be 2 or 3 pages long.

When I print, I get up to 50 pages of menu garbarge, etc. An example appears in the attached PDF.

I tried various Advanced options in IE, but none seems to control this. Is there an add-on or third party application that can do this if there is no setting? If it's a simple setting, what is it?

A:WYSIWYG Browser Printing

It appears to be an issue specifically related to a particular website and the way it's set up. For instance, one can print from the Seven Forums exactly what appears on the screen.

Sorry, I wish I could be of more help.

BTW, I get the same results with HuffPo on FF as you get on IE when printing.

In "My Music" I have two sorts of files. Those I have downloaded from KaZaAlite, and those I have got off CD's using XP Media Player.

All the audio editors I have tried (including one that was suggested on this forum) either won't save the results as an mp3 (illegal?) or won't open certain files.

I do belly dancing and the tracks I have are maybe 15min long but the dance is 3min in the middle of the song! I was successful in chopping a song I downloaded off Kazaa (before Power Audio Editor run out of free time) but with the new audio editors I have tried, they will not open songs I have got from CD (Copywrite??).

Since I am only using the demo versions I wonderd if the purchased software would do the trick, but ranging in price from $5 - $345 I am unwilling to pay the price until I know more (and you can double those US dollars to equal NZ dollars!).

A:Registry Editors

Most people here, including me, don't recommend using registry cleaners. They can delete things that can cripple your computer. I've done it to mine a few times. But, if you feel you need to do something there is THIS SITE which is Micro$oft's One Care that will go through your registry. Since it is their program, XP, it might be OK. But I'm not endorsing it. It too might do something wrong. I've used it a couple of times and so far nothing bad has happened. You can also click on Start, Run and do a sfc /scannow it will run a check on your system files and repair or replace them. You must have your XP disc in and sit there while it's running, because it won't always find the file it's looking for and you need to click on the "retry" button. It takes about 40 to 45 minutes on my computer...I'm sure someone else will come along with more advice soon and you can ponder all of it and decide what to do, or not do.Good Luck...

There's no sense in using a complicated and possibly slow Image editor to perform basic editing tasks
