Yoga 710-11ISK not turning on, but Power button LED is on

Q: Yoga 710-11ISK not turning on, but Power button LED is on

I have a "Yoga 710-11ISK" that is not turning on anymore. Power button LED is on but the notebook does not give any signs of life. I bought this in USA but i'm from Brazil and this notebook is different from the notebooks that are manufactured in here. I have tried turning on whith no battery, only with the cable. I've remove the SSD, WLAN, keyboard, everething that i can and nothing happens. The motherboard heats up but doesn't turn on. I put a external keyboard (USB) and no LEDs of the keyboard turn on, and a external monitor also don't turn on. I've already pressed the power button for 15 seconds, 30 seconds, 60 seconds.. and nothing happened.I'm trying to detect if some circuit is burned but I'm having troubles finding out.Has this happened to anyone else? Has anyone been able to fix it? Does anybody has the schematics to this notebook?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I have a relatively new 700-11isk. I plugged in a micro-usb cable last week and instantly an error in Windows 10 popped up and said that it had a USB power surge. I disconected the cable and reset it. I DID check the cable, and found that near the connector, two internal wires had frayed from wear and were shorted. Now, everytime I turn on my Yoga, and at other random times, I keep getting the USB power surge error, even when nothing is plugged in, and neither the USB 3 or the USB port on the right side work when I plug a device in, BUT they do provide power. Also, the controllers and hub are in device manager, with no error codes or anything. The USB port/Charging port does still work when I plug in a device.  I have done all the recommendations, including turning it off, popping open the case and disconnecting the battery and holding down the power, and I did a full BIOS reset. I have also uninstalled and reinstalled the devices in Windows. I have never ran into this before. I could do a Windows reset/reinstall,, but i JUST did that a few weeks ago and am in the middle of a project, so really dont want to. I am just trying to figure out if the ports are just locked in windows for safety, or if they are now dead. I have disabled all the other devices I can find, and nothing has stopped it. Can I possibly trae down which port is causing it specifically? I don't see ANY identifier info in the error, and once I click reset, I can't find any history of t... Read more

Just ordered new parts:

P67 Intel motherboard
550 GTX EVGA gfx card
3,3 ghz sandy bridge quad proc
2 sticks of 4gb ram ddr3

I just used this case yesterday, so i know the cables are fine. Everything is connected, and when i flip the switch on my power supply a green LED does light up on my motherboard.

If you're directly facing the connectors, you put the Power SW at the bottom left, one over because you dont fill the left side. Above it comes the Reset SW, with the HD to the right of it, and the P-/P+ below it (or to the right of the Power SW).

I dont know if somethings up or im missing something obvious.

Hey @pooja_269,  First and foremost, I want to welcome you to the HP Support Forums! Here at the forums, you have many community members that will help you toward a solution.  Please make sure that the AC adapter cable is not plugged into a power strip, surge protector, or secondary power source. It should be directly into a wall outlet. Please make sure that you do not have any external devices connected (mouse, keyboard, usb devices, etc.) as these can cause issues.  Could you please try performing a hard reset? Are you using the AC power adapter that came with the computer? When you turn on the Notebook, does the power LED stay lit? Or does it shut off?Did you receive any error messages before this happened?Do you have any beep codes or blinking LED lights? Have you done a BIOS reset? When you press the power button and the power LED glows, do you hear the fan spinning? If yes, but the display remains blank, see Computer Starts but Screen Remains Blank.  I would like to provide you with a document called Computer Does Not Start. In this document, you will find the troubleshooting steps mentioned in the questions above.  Another option for you may be to follow the troubleshooting steps in the Battery Does Not Power Notebook or Hold a Charge document and the Testing and Calibrating the Battery (Windows 8) document if po... I bought my Optiplex 9020 mini tower July 2015. It's been used and moved 7 times and on the last move, the power button became unresponsive. When initially plugged in, one Amber blink shows up on the power button, and no more. I've held the button and nothing. However, if I hold the button on the back of the computer on the power supply, while holding it for 30 seconds, the power button works: I can turn on the computer and log in. Everything shows up alive and well.
Dell support sent me a replacement power supply thinking that was the issue. But even after replacing it, the same issue occurs. One Amber blink on the power button when pressed and held. No more. And again, the computer starts when the back power supply button is held for 30 seconds and the front power button is pressed. The power only turns on while the back power supply button is pressed. Is this an error with the power button or the power cable? When on, there are no problems or error messages.
Any help would be great!

I don't know what's wrong with my laptop It's an MSI CX62 2QD if it helps. The laptop power button keeps turning blue then fading and the screen stays black no matter how many times i hit the power button. Before this happened, I was using the laptop and it was fine except for the laptop suddenly black screening twice.
And the night before, i don't know if this i related but i got a notification saying that the laptop memory is running low and that I should remove or close some programs.

Now i dont even know what's wrong with my laptop. Please, does anyone know? I have my finals coming up and Programming is next and I'd definitely need to use my laptop.

Update: I just hit the power button again and it flickered red and blue and now it stays blue except the screen is still black.

Opened up the case housing the motherboard to get at the power to see if I could jimmy it a little bit because I couldn't turn it on. A while ago I accidentally bumped the 1yr old notebook in its case against the desk and since then was having difficulty turn it on needing a little more effort since the time I bought it. About a 3 weeks ago it wouldn't turn on no matter how hard I tried. When I posted a question on how to deal with the first answer was to open the casing to see if I could get at the button easier. I did that, after getting the smallest phillips screwdriver but wasn't able to get the button to work. It is somehow loose and not connecting. I also noticed that unscrewing the housing unit holding the motherboard might make it easier but I have not expertise in this and I don't want to mess things up. I wonder if anyone could get a help with this ,maybe a schematic showing me the parts of the housing unit so that I can unscrew it safely and not messing everything up or any other solution - short of taking it to a specialist. Any help very much appreciated. Thanks!

Hi my X1Y2 laptop no longer has a power button that functions.  If I put the computer on sleep via Fn + 4, I can't wake it up with the Fn key or the power button. I ran into this twice now in 3 days and when i use the emergency reset button on the bottom, I can't turn on the machine with the power button.  I was only able to get it going by disconnecting main power and CMOS battery and waiting for a couple minutes and then supply AC power after things were put together.  The power button would not turn it on. I have since disabled Fn + 4 to sleep so that I don't get stuck again.  Lid closing to sleep works fine (opening the lid wakes it up). Has anyone encountered this?  Do I have to replace the small power board (PW button Subcard - Part Number 01AX885)?  Or can a failing CMOS battery affect the power button (and is cheaper / readily available to try) ?

This is my first time posting; i was wondering if anyone would help me with my problem. I have a lenovo 3 2in1 14inch yoga series laptop and i have been very pleased with it up until now. Recently I have not been able to power it on with the power button. I think about 6 months ago, while in it's case I accidently bumped the side of it onto a desk, and every since it became increasingly more difficult to turn it on - I've had to apply more and more pressure to turn the  system on. I also noticed it had been more indented and pliable than originally but I gave no importance to it since I could still turn it on. This brings me to about a week ago when I could no longer to turn it on at all no matter how hard i tried. I wonder, short of short of getting another computer and since I have an an expired warranty, if I can find an easier solution to this problem. All possible solutions appreciated. Thank you!

Hi, I have had my X1 Yoga for about a month.  From the moment I opened the package, the power button has been unresponsive.  I actually thought the laptop was DOA when I first got it but I kept holding to the power button with increasing pressure for almost a minute before the laptop would fire up the first time. EDIT: To clarify, the button does in fact click, but the laptop shows no recognition of the click. Now I rarely ever power down, but when I have, it has been the same story.Recently, the whole power menu has vanished in my Windows 10 interface, so I have no software buttons to power down or reboot the laptop.  I just go to standby or hibernate when I close the lid (on battery and plugged in, respectively). This is not a huge deal to me, but without the software menu and with an unresponsive hardware Power Button, I can't properly reboot or shutdown my computer.  I know I can hit the reset button at the bottom of the laptop, but the whole point is that I would like to occasionally reboot or just shutdown the laptop properly.

Please, read the symptoms carefully. I have a 1st gen Yoga running Windows 8. I never had problems with this computer. Now, when it goes to Sleep, I can wake it for some minutes using either the keyboard or power button, but past a certain time, like 10-20 minutes, I can't start it. There is a solution: if I hold the power button for about 15 seconds (= much longer than the 4 seconds to force crash the computer), I can then use the power button normally to get the computer out of Sleep. This means that the power button works OK from a hardware and driver point of view. I tried countless solutions:- In the advanced settings of the power mode, I tried to turn off "Allow hybrid sleep", "Hibernate after", PCI Express,...- I tried to turn on and off the Fast shutdown option- I made sure the option to allow the computer to shut down the keyboard and usb mouse to save energy was grayed out as it's supposed to be- I also tried to update all drivers and/or to remove Windows updates- I did a Windows refresh, which is like a full reinstall except it keeps the documents- I tried anti-malware softwares and anti-virus scans- I ran the battery gauge reset in the Lenovo Energy management software Nothing seems to solve the problem. Also, if I shut down the computer, I have the same problem and the only way to make the power button active again is to keep it down for about 15 seconds and then use it normally. Having the computer plugged or not... Specs: Lenovo IdeaPad Yoga 11.6" HD/Core i7-3689Y/4 GB/128 GB All is fine when the machine is on or in sleep mode. The problems start when it shuts down or goes to some deeper hibernation (whatever happens when the machine has been in sleep mode long enough). Then, the machine won't start up anymore, even if the power is connected. After some googling, we decided to try to disconnect the battery. This didn't help (and there was no BIOS update for this particular model) but while disassembling the machine we found out that when the front panel (power button + power light) motherboard connection was detached, the machine powered up. All was again fine until the machine shut down. So the machine can be jump-started by detaching the cable but either the front panel circuit or connection seems to be broken. Any ideas what to do? The following picture illustrates the issue: ?

So far I have enjoyed using the Yoga 3 14, but there is one particularly nasty feature hard-built into this laptop and it is the most idiotic feature I have seen in any laptop:  the power button location.  The power button is on the right side exactly where you are likely to place your hand when you go to pickup the laptop and do something with it. Hit it and the laptop instantly turns off with all your work gone. Whose stupid idea was it to locate the power button in such an easy-to-strike location?

Hi everyone,  I've had my Yoga 720 for a few months and I have really enjoyed this laptop. I've had a few issues and wanted to reach out to see if it was fixable in setting or something I should reach out to Lenovo directly. Before this, I was using a Mac so this platform is new to me. Any suggestions are appreciated. 1. Power Button: I've noticed that when my screen goes to sleep I've had to push the power button in order for it to 'wake up'. This has not only been slightly irritating but also very slow. I've noticed that it takes a really long time for it to wake up. I was wondering if there was a way for this to be turned off? This way if I open my laptop it goes to the lock screen or if it falls asleep while open I can press a key instead of having to wait for the button to work. I've also noticed it turns the keyboard light on before the screen. not sure if this happens to anyone else too? 2. Key Board: I'm in college so writing papers and forums is an everyday thing for me. Something that has been happening recently is when I'm in the middle of typing, all of a sudden a 'ping' noise sounds and my keyboard stops typing. At first, i thought maybe it was my palm touching the touchpad causing the courser to move to a different area of the screen so I turned the sensitivity down. But this still happens, at times I'm not even touching the pad and the noise sounds and not only am I no longer typing but the course is somewhere different, at ti... Read more

Starting having trouble with my power button last week.1. Would not power on when pressing power button.  When I tried the "novo" button, it does goes through System Recovery menu and I can do a normal startup.2. Today I disconnected the battery.  I plugged the power cable in and was able to successfully use the power button to start up.  Upon shut down, the power button does not work again unless I unplug power cable, then re-plug it in, then power button will work (just once, then have to repeat steps above).3.  If the battery is plugged in, the power button does not work in either battery only mode (battery shows good charge) or when the battery and power cable are connected (hitting 'novo" button - System Recovery menu comes up and I am able to go through Normal StartUp option again, on recovery menu). Not sure what is going on here or how to resolve.

I recently got my new X1 Yoga and had to realize, that it wont wake up after the screen goes dark by pressing the power button. Only pressing a key on the keyboard made it wake up, which is a total pain in the ass in tablet mode, as having to fold it back completely defeats the purpose of having a tablet. After some investigation I found out, that this only happens when runnning on battery and it seems to be a regression, since it's only not working with BIOS 1.29 and 1.30. I've tried downgrading to 1.12 and it works, still working in 1.27. Any suggestions?

I purchased the Thunderbolt 3 Dock with my Yoga 920 as it was listed as an accessory during my Yoga 920 purchase back in November.  I finally got around to setting it up and I can't seem to get the power button the dock to turn on my laptop.  The button glows white when my laptop is plugged in but the button will not turn the laptop on.  I have my power button option in Windows set to "when i press power button while plugged in, the laptop will go to sleep."  So even while the laptop is connected to the dock via USB-C/thunderbolt and the laptop is on, when I push the power button the dock, it doesn't put the laptop to sleep either--it does nothing. Googling around, I see there is a newer dock called USB-C dock and it's listed as compatible with the 920 whereas as the Thunderbolt 3 Dock is not listed as compatible.  Could this be the issue?   I also have thunderbolt software installed and it detects the dock in the software. I need some help please!

So I?ve gotten hold of a broken Lenovo Yoga 2 Pro which was stuck in the reboot loop (Keyboard lights on off but no boot). The mainboard got replaced and it started working right away. Little did I know that the machine wouldn?t wake up from that state anymore. I tried everything (60sec power button press/take out battery/cmos reset/replacement psu ) but I couldn?t get it to start again. I ran the Lenovo Solution Center and it looks like I currently have 4 GB of RAM, with a maximum capacity of 16 GB. It also looks like I have two slots (with 2 GB in each slot). Can I replace the two 2 GBs in each slot with 8 GBs in each slot? Can someone tell me how I go about doing this (step-by-step instructions)? I looked at the User Manual, but it doesn't include instructions for upgrading/replacing RAM. Your help is greatly appreciated!

I can't get my computer to turn on. I've tried plugging it in and it lights up white telling me it's charged. The power button won't light up at all. I've held the power button down for 15 seconds and can hear a very faint beeping noise. Please help me get my computer to turn on.

The display is somewhat yellow around the edges when the screen is displaying black. The moue also randomly becomes pixelated and where i click it clicks below it. I spoke to lenovo and they determined the display is a hardware issue based on installing drivers, etc. Does anybody else have this problem?
