I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi,
I would like to find out if a site can automatically be added to the list in Compatibility View Settings.
A having issues with a certain site and see it's listed under Compatibility View Settings, once they remove it, the site shows up as fine.
As far as i know, only way to add something there is to manually added or via registry. Barring this, is there any other way this site could have come up in there?

I have a web application which is not Edge compatible & when launched in IE11 displays badly formatted and skewed text. I've found manually adding the site URL to Compatibility View Settings resolved the messy text issue and I know through use of
EMSL we can force sites to open in IE11 even when attempting to browse with Edge.
I need to have it set so that the site URL is automatically applied to all users in Compatibility View by default so that they don't have to manually add it themselves. My understanding is that Compatibility View is an emulation of legacy IE8 settings. I
know that the EMSL is recognising our site correctly because it forces opening in Edge - so we know its being picked up,  but I've tried setting the URL in an EMSL to IE7 & IE8 compatibility mode, but the text issue still persists.
Can someone please help with automatically applying Compatibility View for users for this site? Below is an example of what I've tried. The website is in the format "hostservername:portnumber"; I've tried just the host server name without the port
just in case and it makes no difference. Below is my .xml code for EMSL - I've tried both "IE8" & "IE8Enterprise" but it makes no difference:

(NOTE:  Links open in a new tab.)
In the TechNet article
here I see reference to a schema v.2 for the EMIE tool. It will apparently spit out the xml using the new version 2 of the schema. But the download link only goes to downloads for Win7/8 (schema v.1), and I cannot find any reference to where I can obtain
the Windows 10 version.
For example,
this article specifically references a Windows 10 version, where
this one references Windows 7 and 8.  Finding the Windows 10 version has proven impossible so far.
We have several sites which need to be opened in IE instead of Edge, and using our old Enterprise Mode site list is not working on our Windows 10 clients.
Current site list example:
<rules version="4">
    <emie>
          <domain exclude="false">www.contoso.com</domain>
    </emie>
</rules>

Etc.
Reading about the
v.2 schema leads me to think that the output from the tool is incorrect.  The documentation suggests that the output for Windows 10 should be:

<site-list version="205">
  <site url="www.contoso.com">
    <compat-mode>IE8Enterprise</compat-mode>
    <open-in>IE11</open-in>
  </site>
</site-list>

Or am I missing something here?

For those of you who have not yet purchased a new PC and want to get the most out of it by running Vista x64, I recommend looking up your prospective purchase on the
"Windows Vista Hardware Compatibilty List" at the following link:

Windows Quality Online Services: Windows Vista Hardware Compatibility List

(You must use Internet Explorer to view this page!)

You use it in the following manner:

For instance., If you have a Notebook, then select "Notebooks & Tablets" in the left margin, then select "Mobile" from the "Drop Down List," then select the manufacturer in the
"Narrow your selection by:" field., such as:
"Acer Incorporated," then select "All" in the "x64 Compatibilty" field, then click the "Go" button on the right, then look for the model you're interested in in the left most column., such as:
"Aspire 5100, AS5101, AS5102, AS5103, AS5104, AS5105." Click on the link and you will be taken to a page where you will see an entry such as the following:

Windows Vista Compatibility:

Windows Vista x86 "Windows Vista"
Windows Vista x64 "Unknown"

If it says "Unknown" to the right of "Windows Vista x64" "DON'T BUY IT!!!"

I have family members who arent very computer savvy but somehow get to the sites they shouldnt have, like to click on links they dont even understand (thus gets infected with viruses etc).
I set up a limited windows 7 account for them, browser of choice is IE9, and I need software where I can make list of safe sites they can visit. all other sites should be blocked until added to that list.
As I said before they arent very computer savvy so I dont need something that is hack proof or anything.

there is microsoft Family Safety in windows live essentials is that any good for this purpose?
is there any alternatives? free or relatively cheap.

There's a nice little app called Qustodio that is free but is a complete parental control app and has features that beat the paid apps hands down. You will be able to block the sites automatically as also watch what they download or install. It also has a reporting feature using which you will be able to view the data for the past 30 days.

Didn't know how to title this issue...basically, here's the deal: I have a school web site, on [email protected], which has a maximum of 10mb on the site. This is a constant battle trying to keep it under the 10 mgs, with all the photos and whatnot I like to put up there. I was thinking that I still have another three or four sites on my account; why don't I set up one site which is just the images, and link it to the other site. Wouldn't it be transparent? I mean, if I set up a hyperlink on the main site, wouldn't visitors just cruise back and forth at will without any hassle? And that way, I'd have much more space for images.

Please advise...it seems too easy...am I missing something?

Thanks!

p.s. I use front page 2002 from office xp suite (professional )

A:thinking of setting up web site just for images to support another site

I don't think you're missing anything. This is common practice. Most of the images on this page came from another site. Ads almost always do. There's nothing that says that the image links in your html can't load images from elsewhere. The ability to bring many disparate objects from various sources together on one web page is the reason html was designed the way it was.

Sounds like you have a good solution to your problem.

Hey all,

I've stumbled upon a rare and strange problem on vista...About 4 days ago I did a windows update as I haven't done one in awhile. Today I noticed that certain settings were set back to default...

Some examples are:

80% of the icons I Pinned to Start Menu are missing.
Customizations of certain settings pertaining to Visuals...are set back to default.
My Itunes no longer has the music inside...the program..but they are still in my external Harddrive...
My Windows Media Player was set to share my files to my Ps3 but is no longer active...in other words I have to reshare everything and set it up again...
The links to my Music and Pictures from my Start Menu no longer link to the correct location... they have been resetted...

Realtek Speaker Icon is suppose to be hidden from the bottom right corner of the taskbar...but is showing now.

Does anyone know why this happened?
Is there anyway to fix this?
Lol I looked in Microsoft support and chatted with their support.. they gave me a link to chat or call to another technician which requires you to pay.... thats lame.

I hope someone can shed some light into this and lead me to the right direction... or if anyone else experienced anything similar please share your stories... Cheers

I'm not sure what other things have been resetted...but this is very frustrating as I did many customizations in Vista..

In Windows 8.1, I need comma as a decimal symbol. However, after restart it changes to dot and I need to reset it and restart all the programs. It is annoying. In Region settings, input method, Welcome, User setting etc. are the same language/region (Slovak).
Is there registry key that would prevent OS changing the settings after restart? The default settings are correct, so I do not understand where does the change come from. After OS installation I used different system language (English) for a time, because
it is easier for me to do setup in English, so maybe that is the reason. Thank you.

We are using Group Policy to issue an XML file with a list of sites for IE 11 to load in Enterprise mode.  We added our payroll company site because they were not compatible with IE 11, now they are ONLY compatible with IE 11.  I removed their
URL from the XML list over a week ago, but all company computers are still loading it in Enterprise mode.  I can have everyone turn it off manually, but the problem is they use so many subdomains that everyone would have to do it numerous times.  Why
is that happening?  I need to force this site and its subdomains to NOT load in Enterprise Mode.  It seems that when the URL was removed from the XML list it no longer forced it, but it also did not remove that setting.

A:Removing a site from Enterprise Model XML list for IE 11 does not disable enterprise mode for that site

Hi,
No event error doesn't indicate the policy is applied fine. If the new configuration didn't work, the most probably reason was the group policy was not applied.
You could rest your Internet Explorer 11 and then restart the compute to check the result.
If it still doesn't work, run "gpresult /h gpreport.html" command to saves the report in HTML format with the file name "gpreport.html" at C:\Windows\System32\ directory.
Open this file to check if this group policy was applied successfully.Please remember to mark the replies as answers if they help, and unmark the answers if they provide no help. If you have feedback for TechNet Support, contact [email protected]

Hello mjapple and welcome to Seven Forums.

Compatibility Mode allows an older program written for an earlier version of Windows to possibly run in Windows 7.

Compatibility Mode

What is program compatibility? - Windows Help

In other words, if you had Solid Works previously installed on a Windows XP computer, you could use the Windows 7 Compatibility Mode to change 7 to XP. But another issue may not be solved with Compatibility Mode. If your version of Solid Works was written for a 32-bit system, it may not work on a 64-bit platform.

You could also contact Solid Works (either their Support link or the Community forum) for additional help.

I checked the Windows Vista 64-Bit compatibility list but my Monitor (Viewsonic VA702b) and my mouse (Rocketfish Wireless Laser mouse) are not on the list. I know I may need a new mouse (among other peripherals) but what does it mean when my monitor isn't compatible? Does that mean it won't work at all or does it mean that it just won't be able to display Vista properly? Just hoping I can still use this monitor.

A:Compatibility list

it means they havent tested that particular monitor or mouse to make sure it will display correctly. doesnt mean it wont or will, just that they havent tested it would be my guess. my old CRT I had wasnt on the compatibilty list either but it displayed vista just fine. as long as its either a standard VGA connection or DVI i suspect youll be fine, wouldnt garentee it but suspect it will. bet ur mouse will to. but the best way to find out is to try it-try it out before you blow a couple hundred on a good monitor. if it doesnt work, well u need a new monitor but if u buy a new monitor just to find out the old one works fine u just wasted money. :D

Hi all, I have a precision m67 and I'd like to know if a sandisk ultra II ssd is compatible with my system as hard drive replacement.
Also can I install a sandisk x110 mSATA SSD card or a crucial mx200? Is there a place in which all the compatibilities are listed? Thank you!

A:Precision m6700 SSD compatibility list

Crucial lists the MX200 as compatible.  Check with Sandisk (now WD) to see what they recommend.

Hello there, folks:I am curious as to whether or not there is a compatibility list for replacement screens for my particular model of laptop; a Compaq Presario CQ57-339wm?  If so, could someone please direct me to this information, or if anyone happens to know of any compatible screens that will work for replacement, it would be greatly appreciated.  I use the laptop for work, don't want to go through the hassle of data-swapping over to another system, or generally having to use another laptop when I've grown particularly fond of this one.  That said, again, any help would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks in Advance! NXS

A:Is There a Screen Compatibility List for the Compaq CQ57-339...

Hi, Actually another way around which means a screen can be used for many machines. Your machine uses 15.6-in, HD, LED, BrightView display assembly (includes microphone and wireless antenna transceivers and cables) Equipped with webcam part# 645095-001Not equipped with webcam part# 645094-001Same for many CQ57 machines. Regards.

Hello I hope I chose the right sub for this question.

I have been running Visual Studio as an administrator for quite a long time. The first time I launched it as an administrator, Windows remembered the setting and it's been that way ever since, which was actually a nice feature up until all my admin privs were revoked. Now I cannot launch VS at all without admin privs.

Our Windows Administrator came over and tried checking and unchecking the "Run this program as an administrator" option, from the Compatibility tab for devenv.exe. He did this several times, plugging in his admin privs over and over again, but the setting never took. It still launches as Administrator every time and I can't use it.

Anyone else seen this behavior? I've been googling around for half an hour and no solution yet.

A:Compatibility Privilege Level setting will not take

Hi and welcome to SevenForums!

Check in the shortcut tab too, button Advanced, there's a Run as administrator option there as well.

While it?s hard at work developing Internet Explorer 9, Microsoft is also focusing on ensuring that Internet Explorer 8 customers get the best browsing experience possible.

The Redmond company is now offering a new update designed to kick up a notch the compatibility between IE8 and third-party websites.

KB 2447568 has been released accompanying the actual refreshes served by the software giant that can be downloaded from the Microsoft Download Center.

As IE8 customers are used to, the update doesn?t change the actual bits of the browser but instead is focused on refreshing the Compatibility View List.

?An update is available for the Windows Internet Explorer 8 Compatibility View list that is dated November 23, 2010,? Microsoft explained.

?This Compatibility View list update makes websites that are designed for older browsers look better in Internet Explorer 8.

Internet Explorer 8 Compatibility Update for the View List - Softpedia

A:Internet Explorer 8 Compatibility Update for the View List

The Softpedia links to the update at the bottom of the page all lead to an error message:

"We're sorry, but there is no Softpedia web page matching your entry.
It is possible that you typed the address incorrectly, or that the page no longer exists.
Generated on: 2010-11-27, 03:29 GMT"

But wouldn't we be getting it from Windows Update anyway?

I have a friend who has an HP Media Center pc. It was a model that came and went and searching doesn't show much info on it.

While having a conversation on Skype I was helping him with some software and asked him to look at the compatibility settings. What is odd is that they were set to Windows 95. I then told him to click so that he could reset but when he did that the list only showed up to Windows 2000, there was nothing for XP service Pack 3 which is what he uses.

Though it's not Win7 I wonder if someone here might have a suggestion as to how he can have XP show up on the list - or even if that's possible.

Thanks

Daniel

We have many sites in site list manager but it appears the x ua meta tag is taking ownership of the doc mode/enterprise mode setting. Without changing the html code is there a workaround?

Also are port numbers and ip addresses allowed in site list manager or are only url's supposed to be there?

I have a windows 10 Tablet and have run into a strange problem.I need help please!!!

If I right click an exe(game or say disc clean or google chrome exe) the drop down box for properties to set compatibility or to make a desktop exe doesn't come up. All I get is a spinning cursor then my screen goes black and I end up back on the desktop.With no drop down box?
I notice too when it drops back to desktop the bottom taskbar reloads as well?Also if I right click the desktop alone or a root folder the drop down box appears ok?

Any ideas what I have done and what could rectify this annoying problem!

Thanks all!

OH & PS: I have tried a restart and done a virus check plus AntiMalware check and all is ok with no virus or malware.Obviously something is corrupt here?

Hi all,

My site shows in compatibility mode in Internet Explorer 8. I couldn't figure out why so I did a little test.. I created a new HTML file and put this into it:

HTML Code:
<?xml version= "1.0" encoding= "UTF-8"?>
<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.1//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml11/DTD/xhtml11.dtd">
<html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml">
<head>
<title>Internet Explorer 8 Test</title>
</head>
<body>
</body>
</html>
This is valid XHTML 1.1. How come Internet Explorer 8 still gives me a compatibility icon at the top?

A:Internet Explorer 8 showing my site in compatibility mode

This could help.
