Q: HP Elite USB-C Dock not working with HP ProBook 650 G2 with ...

After confirmation of my reseller Bechtle that the HP Elite USB-C Dock would perfectly work with HP ProBook 650 G2, I bought a few of these docks. I was in the assumption, and this was confirmed by HP and my reseller Bechtle, that everything was done through the USB-C connection. In my case nothing was done! Only when I use the USB-C to USB-3 adapter the network, USB and displays work, power doesn't! I work with Windows 10 Enterprise, latest build. Anyone an idea?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

Hi, I have just received the HP Elite Thunderbolt 3 65W USB-C Dock. I have plugged it in, and my Elite X2 1012 G1 charges, but that is all. None of the ports are working. Monitor is not recognised either. If I plug my phone in via the USB port, it will charge, but not recognise it as a storage device. I have searched everywhere, and cannot find drivers that will resolve this issue. I have:- Thunderbolt software installed, and running, but still to no avail.- Installed and run "Intel Thunderbolt Firmware Update Utility", but get an error that there is no controller driver. Please help. ps. The machine was reimaged with a corporate SOE. So I am not sure if I am missing drivers.

I am really happy with the X360 15 laptop and it does impress allot of people. I work from home and regularly visit my customers. For these occasions I had bought the Elite USB-C Dock - of course giving me many ways to connect, but also as a second charging device (in case I forget the original charger). Of course I was hoping that since both are HP devices it would work as expected. Now upon connecting the Dock via USB-C, it will display a notification telling me "For full performance, connect a higher capacity power adapter." This does suggest to me that it should 'perform' but not with full power - charge less quickly i assume. This is okay for me. But for some reason it does not charge at all when the laptop is active or stand-by. It will charge when the laptop is 'Off'. Now of course this is not really a solution for me - an empty battery and/or a laptop that is switched off does not really help me being productive . I have been reading outher blogs about this - but had not yet found this specific combination. I found on other blogs that it is a setting (DRM?) for each specific laptop model - and some laptops have received an update that solves this issue. Hopefully this message/request will  generate suggestions for me or maybe even reach the HP support organization and open a dialog.

hello, we have a brand new spectre. first the device is amazing, i love it. but we have the following problem with the  HP Elite Thunderbold 3 65W Dock, if the Spectre is connected over Thunderbold Cable and on the Dock with Thunderbolt/Power combination cable connector, One 4.5mm power input every Device is working, Network is working, USB, both Display Ports are working, but the Spectre does not charge. i have installed the newest FIrmware Update  for the Thunderbold Dock Driver and i have updated BIOS, Intel Thunderbold Drivers on the Spectre. We have changed also the Thunderbolt 3 Dock with an new one, same problem.  one thing, on the front the light is off and i cannot turn on the spectre with the button.  any ideas, hints??? and yes i have connected the spectre over one of the 2 thunderbold ports, because the spectre has only 3 usb-c ports but 2 of them have thunderbold technology. i see also that the tb3 dock is recognized in windows at the thunderbold software.  kind regards, sebastian

Connecting our evaluation X2 210 via a HP Elite USB-~C dock I get starnge power fluctuations. The network access seems to be OK, but the power setting switches to battery and then back to connected every couple of seconds, making the screen brightness change all the time.  Connect the standard power adaptor that comes with the X2 and everything is fine. I've installed (and re-installed) all the latest drivers without luck. I see there are various other threads that relate to the network adaptor, but I'm not getting network problems, just power ones. Any ideas on how to fix this, or is it just a bad piece of kit.

I am going with a bad piece of kit. But I am thinking the problem is the dock power supply. Is it the same as the laptop? Try switching the power adapters and see if it clears up the problem with the dock.

I would like to know if the HP ZBook docks with Thunderbolt 3 would work with the Elite x2.   While it offers 150 - 200 Watts, as opposed to the Elite's Thunderbolt dock's 65 Watts, I don't see any real difference, on the surface.  Am currently using one of the Elite x2 Thunderbolt docks and am looking to get another one, so am debating which one to get.

Hi All Could really do with some help on this. We are gonig to be using the HP Elite Thunderbolt 3 Docking Station with our laptops. The issue I am finding at present is that you have to authorise for use on each laptop. This requires Admin Rights, something that we are no going to give our End Users. According to the manual located at: http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c05141189, on page 5, "Note: You must be logged on as an administrator on the computer connected to the dock. To enable a non-administrator user to select OK, enter the non-administrator registry key. Contact your HP Technical Consultant for this key." Does anybody have any idea what the key is? Kind Regards

Hey,I have been working on a solution to an issue we are currently having with 15 of the HP Elite x2 1012 G1 tablets we are using. When connecting to the USB-C dock the taskbar is non responsive and requires ending explorer.exe task and then running explorer.exe to be usable again. I have reinstalled all the drivers and firmware updates from the HP website, tried the hard reset after install and have had no luck in fixing this issue.

Unfortunately I still haven't resolved the issue with my laptop. It's rather frustrating because we have an identical laptop and hardware setup with one of my colleagues and his works fine. No combination of BIOS update software uninstall and reinstall has resolved this issue. It's a shame because I have been accustomed to using the docking station for my older Compaq based laptop / Workstation and I really do love the feature.

I have exactly this issue (exame same symptoms) with a G17.Happens even if there are no peripherals attached to the docket. Was on .09 of the BIOS, upgraded to latest, no change. Have updated all HP and Intel drivers and utilities. Also removed graphics drivers in safe mode and reinstalled clean, no change, and performed an sfc /scannow.Was working fine week before last, no idea what changed to cause this.

I recently (yesterday, 16/08/16) started experiencing the dreaded Blue Screen of Death whenever my laptop is connected to my HP Elite Thunderbolt 3 Dock. The machine is a HP ZBook 15 G3. It has been connected to this dock for over a month without this issue. I'm not sure why the sudden issue as I don't recall any updates or new software prior to this happening. The dock is connected to 2x monitors via HDMI cables, and an ethernet cable. I connect a wireless mouse and keyboard to a USB3 port on the laptop. If the dock is connected to the laptop on startup, it reaches the login screen before BSOD. If I start without it connected, it will BSOD a few seconds after connecting the dock. It never gets to the point where the monitors display anything. It can boot with the dock connected in Safe Mode, as this seems to disable it from working. I have updated all drivers and the BIOS (including downloading the Softpaq Download Manager) but there has been no change. I've also updated the NVIDIA drivers to the latest version without change. What should I do next to solve the issue?

I would personally try isolating the culprit, then go from there: 1) remove 1 monitor from the dock, then test2) remove ethernet from the dock, then test3) remove the last monitor and hook it directly to the laptop, so the dock is attached with nothing to it, then test4) I have my dock set to "Always Connect" in the thunderbolt software, not sure if that helps any.

Hi all, We bought about 10 HP X2 Elite 1012 G1 along with Thunderbolt Docking station. I setup the laptop then installed the drivers for Intel Management Engine and Thunderbolt dock. Updated the firmware for Intel chipset as well. Since we setup these laptops user complain about the dock not getting detected by laptop. No matter how many times they restart. I went through each laptop and observed the following issues: 1- When I open the Thunderbolt software, it shows multiple HP docks in the attached devices with cross sign (which means the device is disconnected). It seesm that the Thunderbolt software creates multiple entries of the same dock then fails to detect it 2- When the laptop goes to sleep mode, the dock gets disconnected and then it doesn't get detected at all, even after reboot.  So far the only fix is as below: (which worked 90% of the time) 1- Uninstall both Intel management Engine driver and Thunderbolt Secure connect driver2- Install both Intel management Engine driver and firmware + Thunderbolt Secure connect driver BUT, this can't be a proper fix because in a corporate environment we can't go through this every single time. It's a total waste of time/money for a corporate. On top of that, users get frustrated by this issue that is ahpenning constantly. HP PLEASE FIND A PROPER FIX. I purchased the HP Envy x360 13-y013cl and the HP Elite USB-C Dock. I couldn't find any specific information on compatibility from either product and the exact laptop doesn't seem to be listed on HP's site.  However, other Envy models recommend this dock as the correct one (and only recommended option under accessories).   When I plug in the dock and plug the USB-C cable into the computer, nothing happens.  The computer isn't able to see it, the firmware update utility doesn't see it, the computer doesn't charge, and nothing related to the dock works.   Did I get a defective dock or a computer with a bad USB-C port?  Is it completely incompatible?  Am I doing something wrong that's not obvious? I don't currently have any other USB-C devices to rule out the possiblity of a the computer having a bad port, nor do I have another USB-C computer to try the dock with.   If the dock is not compatible, are there any other options for a compatible USB-C dock that will charge the laptop?

Hello I just bought a new HP Spectre X360 with a elite thunderbolt 3 65w dock. After installing all the drivers everything is working when i connect the laptop to the dock. But the only thing that i cannot get to work is the power button on the dock. It doesnt light up in any colour like it says in the manuel and when i press it, it does nothing. I went to search for thunderbolt options in the bios but it seems there are none there. I updated to the latest bios (f.11) btw. Hope someone can help me with a solution kind regards Jelle

I have a Dell XPS 15 and a Dell Dock WD15 which has been working fine for a long time but recently the WD15 dock has been acting up after it is re-docked to the laptop.
Everything works fine if I start the laptop with the dock plugged in but after re-docking the USB ports and Network (cabled) stops working. Everything seems fine with the drivers and as said it only happens after re-docking.
I've tried to rollback drivers and even downgrade the FW on the dock but the problem remains. The only way to "fix" it seems to be to restart the laptop after re-docking.
Running Win10 64-bit.
Any suggestions?

My Windows 7 Operating system is taking a lot of time during Start up.I was looking for an alternative to the regular icons ,scattered all over my desktop.So,i decided to try Docks such as Rocket Dock,Object Dock,Nexus,Rk Launcher or similar dock....It certainly looks beautiful but now i am skeptical if these are causing my system to load very slowly during Windows Start up..

Also,now i am using a Windows Task bar Software which lets me pin any program shortcut on my task bar. So,my task bar is filled up with many icons.Is that the cause of a slow start up or the Docks...

You can use MSconfig to diagnose startup issues. Visit the following link for details;

You can post back with any questions regarding your system services and startup entries to establish their purpose and whether or not they are required at startup.

Taskbar icons are just shortcuts and do not effect the time it takes for starting a computer.

I am not sure exactly at what point it happened but I recently found that the touch screen on my Elite X2 1011 was not working. The pen still functions normally. When checking the pen and touch settings I can only configure the pen settings and only "Pen support" is listed in view pen and touch settings. The touch screen used to work in both the original Windows 8.1 and then also after upgrading to Windows 10. There have been no error messages and the event logs do not seem to indicate any problems; it is as though the machine has just forgotten it is a touch screen. I have tried reinstalling drivers, reinstalling both Windows 10, and going back to Windows 8.1 to no avail. I really loved this little device but ease of use is cut rather drastically without the touch functionality. Has anyone else had a problem like this and have a solution? Any help at all is greatly appreciated.

I'm on windows 7 64 bit. Just got the creative x-fi elite pro today and I can't make the remote work with windows 7. I have installed the latest driver for windows 7 on their site. I even reformated and freshly installed the drivers to verify there was no conflict without any success.

I'm wondering if there are any other W7 64 users with this soundcard that experienced a familiar issue?

Hello,

From the topic title, I have that sound card. I install the latest driver from Creative which is version 2.18.0013. Installs fine, reboots, then the AutoUpdate program comes up to install all the other applications for my device.
However, if I try to run like Creative Audio Control Panel, which got installed during driver installation, it says "The audio device supported by this application is not detected. The application will exit." Even if I install the other application, it will say almost the same message, when I try opening most of them.
I have researched this and contacted creative, but they are never no help, and from what I understand, lot of people are having basically the same issue with the drivers compatibility in WIN 7? Is that correct?
Does anyone know of a solution or do I just have to wait?
I have checked all hardware installations, and they are all good. This worked on Windows Vista x64 with my current system.

My HP Elite Book just quit and won't respond to anything.  I can see a red light on the back left side but the computer won't power up or respond to anything.  Normally, I can power it up from the front left side or the screen itself but nothing happens.  I know it was fully charged as it was plugged in and prior to it stopping the battery was 100%.  Truth be told, I accidently got my foot caught in the cord when I was carrying it a couple of days ago and it landed on the carpet but not a scratch anywhere on the computer - remains pristine but the bottom piece came off during impact.  I slipped it back on and didn't have any issues with it before or since - until it just quit!  The last thing I was doing prior to it quitting was powering my Fitbit Surge and working on an article within a couple of programs.  It was working perfectly and I lifted the computer to log on and it blacked out so to speak.  
Obviously, I know nothing about how to fix or resolve the issue so guidance is so much appreciated.  Did I mention I am on deadline for an editorial story and that computer has everything on it including my story!?!

Hi, Sorry about the trouble you seem to be going through, You could try the following steps to resolve the issue, however if none of it works, you may need to call hp on 1800-474-6836 to get a pickup-repair & return setup, unfortunately that would take about a week or 2 before it can be fixed.Hopefully this helps you (fingers crossed).1) Hard reset to ensure there isn't any static causing the issue - Remove all external devices connected to the pc, disconnect the battery and then hold the power button in for 30 seconds without the adapter connected.2) If there is a light showing up on the charger port & on the power button but the pc doesn't have a display, you could attempt to connect your pc to an external monitor and transfer all your important documents to an alternate pc and work towards completing the editiorial piece before deadline...If that doesn't work - i'm afraid you will need to call HP.

Just got a new elite x2 1012 G1 and it came with the wacom digitizer pen.  The pen does not work when trying to write.  It is paired to the tablet and I can see it connected.  Any ideas as to why the pen does not write on the tablet.  Touching the screen with finger works.

I checked the upper left corner and there is no orange light... normally if I double tapped it, it would enable/disable the touchpad. Got new keyboard and mouse (microsoft wireless desktop elite for bluetooth) went threw the setup and installation as specified,and everything indicates a successful installation there is no problems in device manager or anywhere else,but when i try using the mouse or keyboard i get no response i get nothing they just do not work.I already went threw all the support options,e-mailed microsoft support 3 times and they just gave a list of links to other support pages that could possibly help with my problem ,they did not resolve my problem. I been trying to get them working for almost a month now and i just can not figure out what the problem is .If anyone could help me out i would really appreciate it.

The webcams on several of our Compaq Elite 8300 AiOs are not working. The software and driver is showing as installed, but when trying to use the camera, there is a "camera is in use" error. This error is present after a shutdown or restart as well. There has been limited success in uninstalling arcsoft and youcam and reinstalling arcsoft, but it's not a definitive solution and I have seen it revert back to a non-working state. Please advise.

I have an Elite X2 1012 and the travel keyboard has stopped working. It just completely stopped working one day. I went out and bought a new one, but it does not work also. Now I am at a loss. Any ideas? If I plug in a wireless keyboard and mouse it works fine. The on screen keyboard works. But the most important travel keyboard does nothing. The only way I can even tell it is alive is by pressing the "caps lock" key repeatedly and the light on that key flashes for a brief moment. But that is it.

We have not been able to get this mouse working at all. This mouse has a small USB receiver, without its own Connect button. It is currently plugged into the front of the tower. The red light does show that the mouse is on. Tried all the suggestions on the HP Keyboard & Mouse troubleshooting pageTried the Connect button many times, with the mouse a few inches from the receiverTurned the On/Off switch many timesChecked the Device Drivers. It says the mouse is working.Deleted that entry and told it to "Scan for hardware." It found the wireless mouse again, but it still doesn't work.Tried "Update drivers" but the drivers were already up-to-dateBooted in Safe Mode. The wireless mouse still doesn't work.Tried the keyboard, mouse and receiver on my husband's HP computer. The keyboard works there, but not the mouse.I sometimes see the message, briefly: "Input signal not found."Using HP Support Assistant, I have run all Updates.Thanks in advance for your help! Sheila

Hi guys, Just bought two new HP Elite Display E220t screens, they both work a treat running VGA on an old machine, likewise other monitors work a treat on my machine witch has a mini DP but yet i cant seem to get any output from the E220t, just wondering if anyone has found a fix for this, Thank you in advanced, Dolmja

My touchpad does not work when switching from Tablet mode to keyboard mode. I have tried to disable/enable the touchpad from the Touchpad properties window without much success. The only way to recover has been to restart the device. Any fixes?

hi upgrading cpus as below1. elite 8100sff  i3 550 to i5 -7502. elite 8300usdt G630 to i5-3470s both will not post-no beeps but  lights & fans on - then after 2-3 mins both fans go to max. what am I doing wrong or missed steps? thank you

Hi, Whe have buy some HP USB-C Dock so we can use it for us HP 840 G3 Laptop that normally support USB-C But the Dock is still not working for us we have install all the drivers thats needed ! Do anyone has this problem also for this docking ?

Hi,I bought recently EVGA GTX 950 SC graphic card. After I installed a card, the system will not pass the BIOS screen from the motherboard. It loads fine up to that point, but when the *beep* that normally announced the system self-check is complete is produced, it just sort of hangs. After about a minute, it'll produce the same beep again, but still nothing happens.I tried to find new BIOS in HP website but there is nothing.May I ask you to provide a link where I can download new BIOS version (current one is from 2011).Kind regards,M.

A:Graphics Card not working on my Hp Elite 7300 Series MT

While that particular model has not presented that I have seen, but the symptoms seem to be the same.  The BIOS will not accept the new graphics card.  HP does not appear to issuing new BIOS updates for the consumer line of PC's with that type problem.  Since the Elite 7300 MT appears to be a business center model, they may address the issue.

Hi There, Greetings! I am facing issue with combination keys in my HP Elitebook 8440p. CTRL+SHIFT+ALT+S is defined within in intellij Jet brains IDE. When tried with laptop keyboard its only detecting CTRL+SHIFT+ALT but not the alphabet('s') for that matter any character. However the combination keys are working with on-screen keyboard. Tried installing all required driver softwares but of no help. Any suggestions would be of great help. Thank you ! Best,ILLA
