Lenovo Turkey refuses to repair my defective Yoga 720 under warranty

Q: Lenovo Turkey refuses to repair my defective Yoga 720 under warranty

I am writing this message in order to inform the Lenovo English Community about Lenovo Turkey's unjust and unlawful policies that neglect customer satisfaction and violate Turkish Consumer Rights Law. 3 weeks ago, I bought a brand new Lenovo Yoga 720, with the financial support of my university's scientific research projects office. But, once I opened the original case of my brand new laptop, I realized that there is a tiny crack on the bottom-left end of the LCD beneath the touch screen (see the attached picture). Afterwards, I contacted Lenovo Turkey Customer Service, and sent my laptop to them for free service. After initial inspection, however, they asked me to pay 1.092,92 TRY (approximately $290) for repair service. I told them that they can not ask for money for this service, because it is a defective good and according to national conumer rights law they (as the producer/exporter of the good) are obliged to replace the defective good or repair it for free. In response, they unlawfully denied my demands and claimed that the crack is a result of user error. But when I asked them to prove their claim, they couldn't. Because, as you my guess, there is no trace of damage or usage on the laptop that may have caused such crack! Although I sent my complaints to Lenovo Turkey by both e-mail and post, they did not reply. Now, I will use my legal rights before Turkish authorities to claim a replace or free repair service. But at this stage, I also want to let Lenovo Headquarters in Hong Kong know about this unjust and unlawful practice of Lenovo Turkey which is tarnishing the reputation of the Lenovo brand in Turkey, and ask them to intervene. Do you think [email protected] is the correct e-mail address to write such a complaint? I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hello, I bought lenovo yoga 500 14 ISK on January 2016. After 1,5 years later i aware that there is some problem on the left bottom side (near the hinge) than one week later i saw that screen and back lid seperated from left bottom side and when i look at in i saw that the screw hole is broken from inside and the screw is not tightening the back lid anymore. And my pc never dropped. It is under 2 year warranty and after i sent my pc to Turkey technical service, they said that your actions are completed and when i see the pc right side is broken. First of all i do not want to take back but they said that you can not take pc back so they force me to take my pc. day  by day crack is going bigger and bigger. When i called technical service they said that me (laughing) i forced the pc lid which is 360 degree. and also they said to me opening the lid from only one side causes this problem.  It is not written anywheere taht "dont open lid from left or right side" . I used 7 -8 years lenovo and also2 years work pc laptop Lenovo in very hard conditions and there is no even 1 problem. But my latest pc is falling apart day by day . Not a laptop anymore because opening lid will make my pc not work soon so lid is always open. I need Lenovo center help because people in Turkey unfortunately doesnt help for money. So i dont want them to repair my pc anymore too. After many discussion they are going to break other parts too and i dont trust them. Please help me to be repa... Read more

It all happens in Poland, but I am curious as to how customers are treated by Lenovo in other countries.  The story in short: An E31-70 laptop bought 5 July 2017, end of June - does not open due to broken hinge. the shop/service where I have bought the laptop contacts the customer support only to get back reply that I must have act with undue force thus the problem. But there are no traces of "undue force" treatment to the exterior, so upon pointing that out the support changes the tune and says that it is a "secondary failure" not under the warrranty because I should have reported immediately after the first signs that something is wrong. Since the first sign was that day, this is BS, again I point it out but unfortunately in their third communication Lenovo ultimately refuses to repair under warranty. Since I had to open the laptop pretty soon having data on hard disk which I had to access (work deadline), I decided to have my service conduct the repairs and contacted the customer rights advisor. According to her instructions I sent a request for reimbursement after having received the invoice. Lenovo refused again. So I am forced to enter judicial proceedings. I have heard that Lenovo does not try to escape responsibility for shoddy products in such blatant way in other countries. If anyone from the Lenovo is reading this sad story, I would be interested to hear their opinion...Z... Having continuing problems with the Yoga 710-11 that is now out of warranty. Techical support advises that I must seek service from a local vendor/service location and the machine can no longer be returned to a Lenovo Depot Repair Center. I have spoken to a local vendor who said he would be able to have it serviced by Lenovo. Is that my only option for repair service at this time? Seems strange that I can not deal with the Lenovo Depot Repair Center as I have in the past with or with the warranty. Not really the type of service I expected from a former IBM Company.

I purchased a new Spectre X360 and the 3 year accidental damage warranty.  It claims 3 day turn-around in-home repair.  I tried to use the warranty for a cracked screen and I am told there is a 2 month delay for the part to be sent to me. How do I fix this?

I refer to another similar complain post, I just met a similar problem with lenovo bad screen quality and poor customer service. I bought Thinkpad T580 laptop last year and used in a  normal  environment (always on the desk in my home). One day I found there is a 2x2cm light/white spot on the screen bottom area, which can only be observed when the screen background is in white color. Lenovo told me that it's cased by outside pressure  and they are not covering my screen replacement  under warranty. I own another thinkpad x260 which use in my daily and oversea business travel for over three years and everything is still fine. That's why I purchase T580 for my home use. It is disppointing  that Lenovo can  not  stand behind their product and stand behind their promise to customers (warranty).  Lenovo advertises the Thinkpad T580 as following on their webside: "We test ThinkPads against 12 military-grade requirements and more than 200 quality checks to ensure they run in extreme conditions. From the arctic wilderness to desert dust storms, from zero-gravity to spills and drops, you can trust your T Series device to handle whatever life throws your way." I disgree with their statement and  not going to pay ~$295 parts+ ~30 labour total around 325 to fix my screen. Very disapointed with Lenovo quality and customer service, I won't consider Lenovo again if there is another choice.

Hello All,  I wonder if anyone had any problems with NBD type warranty repairs? Long story short, one of our Thinkpads decided to fail, it has been raised with Lenovo Thinkpad service team, and diagnosed as faulty system board. As unit was still covered under NBD warranty, engineer request has been processed, and all nessesary parts dispatched so unit can be repaired. Unfortunately, 3 attempts to get engineer in has been done, and he did not showed up even once to repair unit! Now, case has been escallated to Complains team, yet no one even tried to contact me in order to get this issue resolved... Is there direct line to someone in complains department? That whole situation is completly unacceptable and there seems to be no one capable of resolving this issue. Can someone advise? I bought a Lenovo Flex 5 14" and at first really enjoyed the product, but it quickly had screen flickering issues. Thankfully, it was still in warranty, so I shipped it back and the LCD was replaced. However, the testing must not have been very rigorous at all because after a while, it still has the same flickering issue. The root cause analysis was incomplete, the problem was not completely fixed, and now my device is out of warranty. I tried to contact Lenovo months back, but because my device was out of warranty, I couldn't get through. Now I really need to use this laptop again and it is basically useless without an external monitor. I am very disatisfied with the level of service received.

My X1 Carbon 5 Gen was bought about two weeks. After one week, it has found Lib Switch problem with blank screen. I reported to Sydney Services Centre for warranty repair. They sent the Field Technician onsite to repair the X1 Carbon. Without any diagnostic, the Technician roughly peeled off the Bezel  of the LCD FRU  and then replaced the Glass of the LCD., The Lib Switch problem did not solve, but the LCD FRU (Assembly Panel) is damaged without loosen Bezel. I asked the Technician why he damaged the LCD FRU instead of replacing the whole FRU (thus, my orginial LCD FRU can be recoverable). He admitted that it is very unprofessional, but he just carried out the instruction order from Sydney Services Centre. I can complain to Sydney Service Centre as he cannot do anything to recover the original fitting of the LCD FRU. I call Sydney Service Centre requesting the replacement of the damaged LCD FRU. Their reply is that the Technician suggest just replacement of the Bezel sheet with his manual fitting. I will not accept my new X1 Carbon?s LCD FRU being damaged and remediated with manual fitting. It is very unprofessional that the replacement is not the whole LCD FRU, and damage my original LCD FRU for glass replacement. I am going to lodge the complaint against Sydney Services through ACCC if they refuse to recover my LCD FRU with new LCD FRU.

Is a hinge failure and screen damage resulting from the faulty hinge covered under the standard limited warranty? It seems like it counts as "customer induced damage" according to other people's experiences, but I would think that if a failure occurs with normal use of the product, it should be covered.

I've been trying to reach Lenovo customer support through phone number but nothing is working. I keep getting a dial tone and then call is hung up automatically (really frustrated how they don't even have an email address). Since I just dropped my laptop and the parts that was bent are FRUs only, I was wondering if Lenovo will still take mine in out-of-warranty (it expires on 11/28/18). Although only the two corners of the keyboard are bent, they're pretty noticeable and I'm fine with paying for repairs as long as it's reasonable. Thanks guys!

I just got my x1 yoga 4th gen today and the top speakers don't work. I called tech support. I got tranferred 3 times and was on the phone for 1  1/2 hours. The second person I spoke to told me that if it is a software problem it isn't under warranty. I told her if everything isn't under warranty on the first day I get it I will send it back. They then tried to talk me into sending it to a lenovo repair shop for repairs. I told them I  just got it today and I am not sending it to a repair shop. Then they tell me I only have 21 days from the time I get it to return it. I again told them I just got it today. Finally they said they can send me a new computer and then I can send this one back. If I do agree to a new one is my 21 day time frame to return it still ticking? What if the second one doesn't work? Lenovo seems very difficult to work with.  How in the world would anything about a new computer not be under warranty on the first day?. Any suggestions? As much trouble as I have had today I am afraid to deal with Lenovo. This computer cost to much money to not be under warranty.  As far as the speakers are concerned I tried to update the drivers and that didn't help. Has anyone else had speaker issues?

Purchased at a Best Buy on 3/24/17 and was pretty satisfied with it, until about a week ago, when the monitor ceased to function and no power would go to the screen. My Best Buy receipt stated that all returns/refunds must be made with the original packaging of the item, which I no longer have, so I decided to contact HP Support in hopes of receiving a refund or replacement, or something of the sort, but the warranty check states the the manufactor warranty ended on June 12, 2012. I don't know how this could be possible, being as I recently purchased the monitor, but any help is much appreciated. Thank you very much for any chance of correcting this issue.

I faced with some problems with this product such as shutting down itself, web-cam malfunction. That's why I sent it for the support services to located authorized reseller S.B.T. in Turkey. The product waited 30 days and after this duration I took it back but some parts were not plugged in and wasn't screwed properly.I also had some performance issue and touchscreen malfunction after the first support. Then I left it back to support services and it has been waiting 50days on support services.I'm tracking the status of the product. All the parts of this product - touchscreen, hdd, keyboard etc. -has been changed, even Mainboard twice.Neither Lenovo Turkey nor authorized reseller can support me effectively. I believe that this problem can't be solved anymore, and I want this product to be replaced with another new one or similiar one but Lenovo Turkey does not support me!

Bought my laptop one month ago and yesterday it black screened and is just a paperweight now. Lonovos only solution to selling defective computers is to repair them. What I couldn't get them to understand is that I don't want a broken and repaired laptop, that's not what I paid for. I paid for a no defective computer. You cant give me a broken machine that you band-aided for the same price as a new machine. I just want a replacement or my money back. I feel as if I'm getting screwed over big time here, and that's not how a company should do business. Don't sell me a lemon and then offer to fix it. I didn't want a lemon in the first place. I want what I paid for, a fully functional non defective machine. Lenovo refuses and is keeping the money. Lesson learned.

I sent my lenovo Yoga in for a repair that was covered under warranty. A row of keys stopped working only a month after purchasing it. I sent the laptop off on december 21st. After the repair depot received the laptop I was told the corner of the casing was bent and the screen is now lifted from the machine. This damage was caused in shipping and I sent the repair rep pictures of my machine prior to shipping. I was only met with comments that my pictures were not taken at the exact same angle as theirs. I wish I would have requested a picture of the box they received my computer in. My case has been escalated but even after contacting the escalation rep and showing them my pictures I have not gotten any response from them in almost a month. I'm an engineering student and its now a month into the semester. Not having my laptop has been making my life at school much more difficult. My only question is that are all of the lenovo employees trained to distrust the customer regardless of the situation? Even the escalation rep tried to tell me that my screen looked scratched when it was obviously my desktop background. I even sent them a copy of that and never received a reply. Could I please get in touch with someone to get this process over with so I can get my laptop back as soon as possible? I would also like to add that you should insure your packages to prevent this from happening to other customers in the future, or atleast give the customer an oppurtunity to pay extra for it... Sorry, but on that model, the audio connector is part of the motherboard.  It is soldered and not plugged into anything.  If the jack is broken the fix would be a motherboard replacement.

I recieved this laptop for Christmas last year as a gift from my mother. Everything was working fine and the laptop was basically everything I had ever asked for (and more). I kept it on, only closed because I didn't like turning it back on. Everything was going well up until today. My laptop started working slowly and nothing was really loading properly. I shut it down by holding down the power button and restarting it that way. It went to a black screen then it had the Lenovo logo on it and then it said Preparing Automatic Repair. I repeated the process a few times before just leaving my laptop off for a while. I just now turned it back on and it went to the repair screen and now its on the Diagnosing your PC screen. If there is any way I can get around the loop without returning the laptop or resetting the whole thing - I have a lot of stuff on there that I can't lose - I would love to know!! Any advice is greatly apprecated!!

Hi all. I purchased Lenovo Yoga 920 Glass Edition from Lenovo Web Store on September 13, 2018. The notebook was delivered to me on September 21, 2018 in Chicago. I bought the highest configuration available for this IdeaPad i.e. 4K display, 16GB RAM, 1TB SSD. During the initial three weeks of usage, I have experienced "blue screen" error crash while working in Windows on several occasions. On October 16, 2018 after yet another blue screen error crash, the system completely failed and I could have never used the notebook again ever since. It seems that there was a complete SSD failure since no SSD was detected by BIOS and Lenovo Windows Recovery Key did not help either. Finally, I run a hardware scan that showed all components passed the test, except the SSD, which was not even scanned since it was not recognized as existing at all. The conclusion is very likely that my 1TB SSD died after only three weeks of usage. Having said the above, I am unable to use my US$2k worth notebook ever since mid-October last year. The trouble is that I live in Montenegro (Europe) and this notebook is under Continental warranty, meaning that it can be repaired only int the US or Canada. I have asked Lenovo to make exception and allow their local authorized repair center in Montenegro do the repair, but that was refused under the excuse that some parts may be unavailable since the notebook was assembled in the US. I doubt that this would be a problem since ... Read more

Dear Lenovo. I would like to share my frustration on the experience with my Yoga 13 2 laptop. The time and effort that has been wasted getting the device repaired and talking to John Lewis is just astonishing. I have had two issues with the laptop and the first one got repaired after a long delay and the second time round (recent) has been rejected. The second issue I had is with the defective USB 3 port (blue), whereby the plastic has fallen apart due to poor material used. The report provided advised that this was damaged, under wear and tear. This is just not the case because the port was only used with a mouse. This is an unacceptable response considering that this is a wider issue as found on this very forum. I am not happy and would like Lenovo to contact me. Kindest Regards Mr Luong

My Lenovo 900 seems to have a defective trackpad.  The trackpad seems to have two separate clicks to it... which makes it very annoying to use.  When I'm simply moving my cursor around (not engaging a "click" on the trackpad) the pad constantly makes an annoying clicking sound as my finger lightly glides on and off the trackpad surface.  It feels like the trackpad surface is not attached properly and is loose.   Anyone else having this problem?

Mine is somewhat similar, through not nearly as bad. You'll notice that the bottom of the touch pad is not flush with the rest of the laptop causing a slight rattle. These laptops aren't cheap, so swap it out for another one because they're not supposed to be like this.

Hi, Today (or last night, not sure) three columns of my TPY 460's digitizer seem to have stopped working. Two of them are right next to each other, the third one a little further to the right. (I'm guessing the number of columns by the distance of the small dots that you can see on the display when you look at it from an angle). When I tap the pen onto the two defective columns, nothing happens, when I drag it across, it stops on one side and then jumps to the other. It's similar for the single column, but there isn't a complete stop and a jump, more of a non-linearity, the cursor moves slower, then faster, then slower again. For finger touch, the problem is similar. Is this a common problem that can be fixed by properly plugging  some cables or should I return the computer? (It's a demopool device, so I have no warranty, but I can return it within two weeks without a reason).

Hello, I bought my U530 Touch from Vatan Computer in Turkey, on November 2014. Let me first make clear that the law states the standard warranty period as 2 years in Turkey, so my laptop is still under warranty.  What happened to maybe hundreds of people on this forum happened to me, too. One day, a little over a month ago, when I was opening the lid of my laptop, I felt a resistance and the plastic casing on the left hinge cracked slightly as I tried to open my computer. But when it was fully open, the plastic was cracked and would not get back into its original position and it was clear that closing the lid was not an option anymore. I could see the faulty hinge and some cables from the opening between the screen and the cracked plastic. Thankfully, my screen didn't crack like so many users' here and I was able to use my laptop as a desktop for a few weeks until I could take it back to Vatan Computer, lid open, so that they could send it to service.  I received a message 6 days later stating that I had to pay the quarter of what I had payed for my computer (1000 USD) in order to get it fixed because it was "due to user error". Talking to Vatan computer or technical service on the phone was useless. I tried to explain to them that I take very good care of my computer, I have not dropped it, they cannot find any indication of misuse on the machine, but they wouldn't even listen to me.
