Resizing Account Picture

Q: Resizing Account Picture

Is there a registry edit or is there somewhere I can go to change the size of pictures that an account uses? I have a few banners that would look cool as an account pic but by defauly they are resized to fit in the small 64x64 square that Windows uses.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I hope you have Photoshop or any other photo editing software you can do it by using them. In Photoshop go to main menu IMAGE-->Image Size-->change the image size by deselecting the Check Box Constrain Proportions. Thats it, its a simple task.

NOTE: if you Select Check Box Constrain Proportions, The application automatically set the aspects to the value you gave.

HI there..

Just quick question.

My dad uploaded some photo's from his digital camera and he wants to email some photos. A while ago he used to right click on the photo in windows Explorer and goto Send To Mail Recipient and there would be a dialogue box to ask to Make all the pictures smaller or to keep the original size then attach them to the email but today after choosing send to mail recipient it just attaches to the email.

The problem is that the pictures are too big and i wanted to know how to get the dialogue box asking to resize the pictures back?

He is running windows XP Pro with outlook from microsoft Office XP.

Cheers

Hi, I produce reports that contain lots of pictures on each page. I insert a picture into my doc then I crop it. The tedious part is I have to resize each picture to 3.17 inches or 8.05 cm wide by 1.78 inches or 4.52cm tall. I crop them close enough to the original size that I am not concerned with the aspect ratio being off a little. Can anyone help me with VB code. I tried to run a simple macro but after it starts recording I can no longer select the picture.

I am in Windows 7, Office 2010.

Thanks in advance.

A:macro for resizing a picture.

Hi markjwood,

I can't help you when it comes to VB code and creating macros, but I can offer you an easy way to batch resize images (using a free program) to the specifics you require if you wish?

If you would prefer to wait for one of the staff to help you with creating a macro then let me know the program that you are wanting to use the macro in and I will see if one of my colleagues know.

When I choose a new picture it automatically resizes to 128 x 128. My problem is that when you click on the image to login, it increases to what seems to be 256 x 256, but rather then using the source image and resizing that it appears to just scale the 128 x 128 image up, leading to a terrible looking image.

I figured that I might be able to get around this by seeing how the default images work since their larger versions look fine. Looking into the C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\User Account Pictures\Default Pictures all of the images seem to be 128 x 128, so I figured that there must be another folder with 256 x 256 versions of all these images for when the larger image is displayed, but am unable to find such a folder.

So basically my question is, is there anything I can do to have a decent quality image for my account image?

Hello,
i have the following issue, i am using Windows 8 administrator account and in it when i try to resize any open window on the desktop - browser, program, explorer, it shows where it will be resized without actually showing content inside until it is resized. Opposing to normal user account with administrative privileges where when you resize something it is instantly shown inside the window so you can see how it will look with that size.

is there any way to change this?

Thank you.

Hello,

I have tried to find an answer to this but cannot. Lately, I noticed my User Account Picture was not the picture I had selected. In addition, the Background Picture for my Windows 7 Home Premium edition log on screen was changed. This happened after running a program that is for exams at school which reboots your computer into a safe mode where the only program available is a rudimentary word processor.

I contacted the company that makes that software, Examsoft, and they told me how to get my default logon picture for my Windows Logon background back.

To address the User Account picture, I went into Control Panel > User Accounts and attempted to "change picture". This is not an option, however, for my administrator user account. It is an option for my guest account. I tried cloning my account without the bad .dat files, but that didn't work either as the new account I had created, also an administrator account, did not display a "change picture" option in control panel either.

I ran sfc /scannow, and it found no errors.

I am not sure what to do. Has anyone encountered this? Can you please help me?

Attached is a screen shot:

Thank You.

If you like, you could change your account picture to the same solid color as your sign in screen to effectively make it look blank. You could use mspaint.exe to create the solid color image.

No, they are smaller on the first screen because there is more than one.
