Windows 10 free upgrade time limit

Q: Windows 10 free upgrade time limit

I've got a friend's laptop running 8.1 here. They can't upgrade to 10 because a lot of the software they use for their work is extremely buggy and just about works on Win7 and 8.1 - She has been advised by the IT people working for her company not to upgrade to 10 until they give everyone the all clear to do so.

My question is, if I use the media creation tool on her laptop now to create an ISO, would that mean she could do the upgrade for free beyond this July?
I have read that it's necessary to do an inplace upgrade first in order to generate the necessary hardware id codes etc, but Im wondering if it's goes past the 12 month free period, if that notification will be gone or the ISO on the system will be useless?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

A: Windows 10 free upgrade time limit

The way I understand it, ALL free upgrades MUST be done before the July date.

Hi everyone,

I have been thinking about upgrading my Inspiron 3647 Small Desktop's RAM and graphics card for a while now and I would like to ask if it can handle 16 GB of RAM (8GBx2) and for any suggestions for an upgrade from a GT 625 that would fit within its case. The computer has 2 DIMM slots so I wouldn't think that 16gb of ram should be a problem. It already has 4 GB pre-installed.

Thanks in advance.

I've searched everywhere for a solution to this but have not found anything outside of restarting the machine.
I need to limit a Windows 7 computer to only allow one user logged in at a time. This machine has applications only allow one user to run them at a time. So if a user locks this machine and walks off and if the next user switches user and logs in, none of
the programs will work because the first user's session is now suspended.
Is there anything that will kick the suspended user off? So if a user forgets to log out and the screen is locked, the second user's login would force the first user to log off?

A:Limit a Windows 7 machine to 1 user login at a time

You can disable the locking function altogether so the initial user can't occupy the machine. (They will have to log off or risk leaving the machine unattended while still logged in.)
It is a registry change, check out:

When I connect to a remote Windows server using Windows native RDP/Remote Desktop Connection from my WinXP PC, I've got about 30 seconds to select a logon account and/or type in the password. We've recently introduced two-factor authentication for OS logon. In some cases where the remote server is slow, or there's a network lag because the server is on the other side of the globe, that 30 seconds isn't long enough for the remote server to read/interpret the cert on my smartcard and give me the opportunity to enter my smartcard password. At times, the screen just begins to give me the password field, and then it times out and ends the session. Is there some setting (either on my PC or on the remote servers) that can be changed to allow a longer period of time to enter logon credentials? Like, increase it to 45 seconds before timeout? I've been unsuccessful in finding anything online about how to extend this setting. I've looked at the Local Computer policy settings on my PC to see if any GPO's are setting that 30-second timeout -- nothing seems to be coming down from GP that I can see. I did go to Local Computer Policy > User Configuration > Administrative Templates > Terminal Services > Sessions and changed "Sets a time limit for active but idle TS sessions" from 'Not configured' to 'Disabled', but that made no difference. The idle session timeout configuration on all our remote servers it set a value m... Read more

i bought the win 8 upgrade, but i'm having trouble with an old hardware and it's drivers often freeze windows 8, sometimes corrupting data. So having to do some trouble shooting i have had to reinstall and activate again. I'll try to make an image for the future tough.

If you decide you don't want or don't like Windows 10 and you want to downgrade to Windows 7 or Windows 8.1, you have 30 days from the upgrade date to do it, or else you'll need to do a clean reinstall.

Re Rendering Graphics:-

I have this Event Log Message...

(Windows quote) The NVIDIA open GL driver lost connection with the display driver due to exceeding the Windows Time Out limit and is unable to continue...
The application was unable to  continue rendering because the Microsoft Windows imposed time limit was exceeded (TDR)
This  is the case when the workload sent to the Graphics Card is greater than what the Graphics Card can process in the normal time out of two seconds.
A possible solution to try could be:-
Increase the time out to increase the really tough rendering parts
Microsoft provides the information to modify the Windows Registry to achieve this..

Request help from someone who is familiar with this as I do not know how to do this.
also Windows 7 and all my programs are OK and I am reluctant to mess with the Registry without help..

Failing this possible solution the next step is probably an higher end Graphics Card etc...

Thank You

Uninstall currently installed Nvidia Drivers and components completely.

While uninstalling, remove the components first (Nvidia Physx, update, 3D vision etc ). Uninstall Nvidia display at last.

Now install the latest driver.

Assuming you have a 64 bit OS, here is the download link to the latest driver.

I need to send some personal documents to a friend's kindle. Since they don't have a computer (just a kindle) I want to do this by sending it to their kindle mail account which will then send it automatically to their Kindle. The problem is that although the Kindle mail allows attachments up to 50MB, I can't find any webmail that will send attachments that large (greater than 25MB).

I don't want to split up the documents into smaller sizes and zipping doesn't reduce the size by enough.

I've tried gmx.com and mail.com but have run into trouble there as I made an account last year and forgot about it and now my IP seems to be blacklisted due to inactivity.

Just to be clear, I need to send it as an actual email attachment, not a link like mediafire, yousendit, dropbox etc

Does anyone know of a free email service with large attachment size limits?

Many thanks.

Title basically says it all. I used to be using Windows 8.1, and I upgraded for free. After using windows 10 for a week i got a blue screen that said "bad_system_config_info" and restarting does not fix it. It is stuck on the blue screen after restarting. So, i was thinking I could use the option on the blue screen that it gives me to downgrade to previous version, but I would still like to use windows 10. So, if I downgrade, could I then upgrade again for free? (I am still within my 30 days to downgrade) Any help would be greatly appreciated!

If you have any other solution to this blue screen that would allow me to stay on windows 10 and keep all of my files and apps, that would be even better. Thank you!

The initial error that came up while I was using my PC like normal:

Options ("Continue" and "turn off PC" just take me back to this)

Options Under "troubleshoot" option that was shown above. (I've tried a system restore, but it does not work. I have no "system image recovery", so doesn't work. Start up repair doesn't work. So, "go back to previous build" is my last resort, which is the reason for my question in the first place. I would like to downgrade then upgrade back to windows 10, but not sure if i can.

A:Can you upgrade for free to windows 10, downgrade back to windows 8.1, and then upgrade again?

Yes, I believe you can. Windows 10 is free for at least the first year from release.
You can still get the Windows 10 ISO downloade and be able to upgrade using that instead of the downloaded installation files too.

I.E. instead 600 minutes, 400 minutes, I want to limit the option to 10 minutes, so my kids dont leave the screen on forever when I amnot home. They learned how to change it, and instead of fighting it all the time, I just want to limit the availability of extra time.
I have them set up with there own user accounts too. Thanks, Steve

A:How to limit screensaver time available to operator.

Press Windows Key + R, type gpedit.msc, press OK. The Group Policy Editor is launched. Go to Local Computer Policy > User Configuration > Administrative Templates > Control Panel > Display > Hide Screen Saver tab. This setting prevents users from using Control Panel to add, configure, or change the screen saver on the computer. If you select Enable, it removes the Screen Saver tab from Display in Control Panel. Hope this helps. :)

Today I noticed that the URLs in my address bar of IE9 (64-bit) is completely empty. This is strange to me, because the same list of URLs has been present for 2-3 years and I didn't clear browsing history or anything.

Some background that might be helpful: This not my personal IE browser. It's accessed within a system through my work network. It opens as the default browser when I click on a pre-set tab within a password-protected software platform my work uses. I can also access this browser when I am logged in remotely. For the past 2-3 years, I've been able to access all the URLs in the address bar dropdown--no matter my location--and now they're gone.

My question is, why is the URL bar suddenly empty, when I know I didn't delete anything or clear any history? I'm wondering if they "timed out" -- is there a time limit on how long IE stores address bar entries? Or, Could it be that my workplace's system admin reconfigured/updated some sort of setting, and that's why they're gone?

Any help or insight would be appreciated. Thanks, Sam

A:Time limit on how long IE9 stores address bar entries?

Hello my friend....

Is it possible someone else could have logged onto your computer and then cleared history? (I see you mentioned it is on a network) -- address bar entries ARE STATIC (They wont ever be removed unless you clear them/have your browser set to clear them when closed)

I may have never noticed this in Windows 10 but after the 1607 anniversary update was released I noticed that Mail notifications that turned on the Action Center Icon and the Email subject and sender information in the action center, over time, would disappear without any intervention on my part. To be clear an email notification would arrive and the Action Center Icon would change to indicated that a notification was received and the details of that notification were listed in the action center but (A) I did not click on the action center icon (B) I did not open the built-in Mail application and (C) I did not open Outlook 2010. However, after being absent from my PC for a period of time, I noticed that the action center icon was no longer showing a notification and when I did finally open the action center there were no notifications there either. What I seem to remember was that prior to the 1607 anniversary update, if you clicked on the action center icon the icon would remove the notification highlighting but to actually remove the notifications themselves from the action center I had to either clear the individual notification or clear all notification or open Outlook 2010 and download my mail.

So, is this the behavior that others are seeing? If so, is there a way to control this so notifications simply don't disappear on their own?

Windows 10 has actually lost market share last month despite the fact that everyone expected the operating system to continue its growth, which could be a sign that Microsoft?s 1 billion devices running Windows 10 goal might take a bit longer to become reality.

While it?s a bit too early to tell whether Windows 10?s market share could stagnate for a longer period or not, the September 2016 performance was clearly below expectations, especially because this happens only one month after Microsoft ended its free upgrade campaign.

As part of this promo, Microsoft often became rather aggressive and sometimes users accused the company of forcing the upgrade on them, with many complaining that Windows 10 was installed on their PCs even if they didn?t ask for it.

No forced upgrades, no growth
But now that Windows 10 is no longer available for free, the operating system?s growth not only that slowed down but it also stopped completely, and this can only be bad news for Microsoft.

Windows 10 dropped last month from 22.99 percent to 22.53 percent, and while the decline isn?t substantial, it?s a sign that the new OS might really struggle to get ... Read more

They can't be surprised, if they are they don't have the team I thought they did.
Their approach brought this on, and the good part is they can change that far

that fact.

Ok so I have a Rio One mp3 player from sonicblue. I bought a 128 meg smart media card and it totals to 160 megs for music. Its fine I can store up to 30 songs and about 2 hours and something. What I was hoping is that with the 1.44 firmware upgrade I would be able to swap the smart media card for like a 512 or even more but Ive read that it only supports smart media cards that go up to 128 why is that?

Other mp3 players similiar to mine can only be upgraded to with a 128 card that would give them a total of 160 in some cases a bit more but for some reason these mp3 players cannot be upgraded with a higher capacity smart media card.

I just wanna know why.

If anyone knows of third party firmware upgrades for mp3 players get at me please.
