Facebook (and Facebook only) running very slow or fail to load

Q: Facebook (and Facebook only) running very slow or fail to load

As the title says Facebook, and only Facebook, runs very slow or sometimes fail to load. I've tried this on both Chrome and Mozilla and the result are the same.
Tried to scan with NOD32 antivirus + Eset Online Scanner. Right now is at 55% and found 1 threat (Win32/AdkDLLWrapper) unwanted application.
Below are the FRST.txt and Addition.txt from FRST x64.

Preferred Solution: Facebook (and Facebook only) running very slow or fail to load

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Here is my original post:

Hey guys, just built myself this new shiny computer with an AMD 8120 processor, 8GB ram, plenty of storage and a decent graphics card.

It runs games, Photoshop, multiple browser sessions all at the same time, and I even upgraded to the cable companies fastest internet...

So why the BLEEP can I NOT get on Facebook?

Seriously across ALL browsers (especially Chrome which I've uninstalled and reinstalled) I get extreme slowdown or loss of connection ONLY with Facebook. I've pinged it and gotten very fast responses, but I cannot do ANYTHING on their servers.

When I was FIRST downloading software, a friend of mine used a program that allows you to install lots of recommended programs at once, he downloaded and used a "torrent downloader" program, and that is the ONLY thing I think could be causing some issue. I've used Ad Aware and tried to fix it, gone into incognito mode (which helps sometimes) and used other browsers, but somehow facebook still is slow.

Can anyone help?

EDIT: another strange issue, even though all my settings are correct I have to send email 3/4 times in Windows Live Mail before the server accepts it. I get a LOT of server not responding errors.

Both the above named apps after finally getting the AU, will not actually load. they both self close before getting off the icon screen. I only discovered this when I went to check a notification from action center instead of loading up the browser. Now I was still getting notifications while they would not load but after uninstalling/rebooting, clearing app caches multiple time they have stopped even doing that which I expected. The notifications was the main reason I even had the programs, so I could get those notifications when I did not have the site open.

I have tried every solution google could also give me including clearing out manually some registry entries between an uninstall and reinstall and clearing out all Facebook windows credentials but nothing has made a difference.

In event viewer each generated 2 errors and between then an information entry.

I have been trying to resolve problems with my wife's Toshiba L675-S016 for several months now. Running Windows 7 Home Premium, Purchased new in 2009, HD replaced by BestBuy Geek Squad in 2011. OEM OS and programs reinstalled then.  Running Avast AV and Malwarebytes, which indicate no issues.  Primarily use IE11 as browser, but FB Scrabble won't load in Chrome or Firefox either.  Connect wirelessly via NetGear router. FB Scrabble runs properly on my desktop.  Have run various scans and diagnostics under post in two other forums before being referred here.   Windows Crashes, BSOD, and Hangs Help and Support forum  at: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t/597296/toshiba-l675-bsod-hangs/ and  Am I infected? What do I do? forum at http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t/599190/toshiba-l675-win-7-is-super-slow-frequent-ie11-script-errors/

Help at ea.com was practically non-existent, suggesting only CCleaner after initially telling me they only provide support to the Pogo versions.  (Ccleaner did not resolve any issues)

Looking for suggestions?  I keep getting notices that W10 is ready for me to upgrade the laptop.  Should I just do that and forget about trying to resolve this issue?

A:Facebook Scrabble won't load, IE 11 long running script errors

I wouldn't "upgrade" to Windows 10 if I were you. To get rid of the prompt to upgrade, try the GWX Control Panel.

I don't have a Facebook account, but I'm guessing those games use the Adobe Flash Player? Do you have the latest version of Flash?

I'm using XP, I.E. 8, on a Gateway 310s, with 2 gigs of memory and a 40 gig HD so it's an oldie.

This baby has been running slowly for a while now (been doing the Adaware, Malwarebytes, AVG, Commodo Firewall thing to keep it maintained somewhat), but since Facebook has changed its groups format, it's damned near impossible to get anything done there. It takes about 2 minutes to load, and if I'm lucky enough to make a post, it takes another two minutes to enter text. Forget about scrolling.......the site freezes like it's in concrete. All my other internet sites work normally..the problem seems to be only with FB. Any ideas as to what the ding dang problem is? I'd be very appreciative of any help I recieve.
Thanks millions in advance.

Hi!

I am having problems visiting facebook.com and imperiaonline.org; other websites seem to be running fine. CPU meter gadget shows that whenever I am trying to visit facebook.com, my CPU usage is above 85% and RAM usage is above 95%. Did a Kaspersky scan few days ago, found a clean result; found a $RECYCLE.BIN folder in my drive however, and deleted it. Searched the internet for anti-malware tool and found ComboFix, scanned with it, but couldn't understand what to do next. A feature at imperiaonline.org doesn't work too; the support team said it has to do something with my browser. Re-installed Chrome, tried Mozilla, saw no improvement.

What should I do now?

The details has been filled up in the form above. Attaching the last ComboFix log with this thread.

Hi All,

I have recently purchased a new HP Pavillion laptop that has Windows 8 on it. Ever since I have been using it, I have noticed that all the games I play on Facebook run extremely slow. I mainly use Google Chrome, but have tried to see if other internet browsers have the same problem and they all run slow. I've checked to make sure that java, flash player and even shockwave are all up to date.

Is anyone able to help? Its starting to get really annoying.

Thanks

A:Facebook Games Running Slow

Hello k3lz1990,

Are you having any other problems with your new laptop? If not, I would check with others that play Facebook Games to see if they are having similar problems. You might also want to check your internet download and upload speeds and compare them with your Facebook counterparts as well. You can do an internet speed test here for reference:

Good luck.

Hi there, I've been having some trouble with Facebook for the past week or so. I first noticed that Facebook was loading considerably slower than most other programs; YouTube works, online video games are fine voice and video chat programs (Skype, TeamSpeak, etc) all working perfectly. The mobile browser version of Facebook works fine, as does the Messenger application, however on all PC browsers the site is slow (I've tried Chrome, IE and Firefox). Naturally, my first though was that there was server trouble, but the problems have persisted and have seemingly become much worse over the past five days.

When it was clear the problem wasn't going away I checked to see if Facebook was down, but it wasn't, I did a speed test at the same time and my download speeds were normal. I cleared my cache, cookies, etc, but no luck. Flushed DNS, still no luck. I've disabled AVG AntiVirus to see if that was the thing causing issues, but nope, still the same problem. I suppose it's also worth noting that this problem seems to fluctuate; most of the time Facebook takes upwards of two minutes to load, but for short periods the site functions without issue. This just recently occurred and I was able to navigate Facebook with no issue, each page would take less than two seconds maximum to load. Yesterday it seemed as if the problem had magically disappeared and I was able to surf Facebook for upwards of half an hour before it started to slow down again.

Any ideas what this may be? ... Read more

So i have been using Firefox for the past couple years. Recently, i have upgraded my OS from Windows vista home edition 32bit to Windows 7 professional 32bit. After i upgraded, I installed and loaded Firefox fine, however, when clicking on "messages" or "comment" or "poke" or "like" nothing happens.

The reason why i suspect Firefox to be the issue, is i have disabled all addons and the problem persists. I have not noticed the issue on any other sites, so it might be Facebook's interaction with Firefox. I have tried IE8, and can get a connection to all the features of Facebook, but I don't like having to do that to catch up with my friends and whatnot. Firefox also worked fine with Facebook while i was using vista. Also the messages inbox, and individual messages do not load. I have tried deleting cookies and clearing the cache. I have made sure that Javascript is enabled. I have made sure that firefox is updated. The chat function also does not work; it only tells me the number of friends online.

if you could save me the annoyance of using IE, I would like to thank you in advance. I will try to attach some screen-shots.

hello all,
ive been experiencing this issue for a few days now. www.facebook.com will not load. the only way it seems to load is if i clear cache and it is VERY limited almost useless. i've tried everything i could get my hands on i primarily use google chrome but this seems to be the problem on all browsers. opera, firefox, internet explorer, safari. i've tried https://www.facebook.com, checked host file, ran malwarebytes and cleared any malware, hijackthis, flushed dns, reset router etc but nothing seems to be the fix. even using a proxy site wont allow me to sign in it gets me to the home page but then cookies gets in the way. i'm almost certain it's nothing to do with the internet provider or modem/router because the internet seems to be running smooth, even other computers in the house are not experiencing this problem with facebook or any other site and they are connected to the same router. any help will be much appreciated.

Hey All,

I went to TWC's Facebook page, which is just loaded with videos and ads that clogged up my computer speed so much in Firefox that I had to reboot my computer. What can be done to tell companies to do something about Facebook's Timeline, so that the videos don't show? Or at least the process gets speeded up? The problem in general with Timeline is that everything on the page loads at once, and the videos really slow up the experience. I have the My WOT and Ad Block Plus Plug in for Firefox. From a design standpoint, what does TWC need to do to re-design their Facebook page, so that Timeline does not slow people's computers down to a crawl?

Google Chrome cannot reach the website. This is typically caused by network issues, but can also be the result of a misconfigured firewall or proxy server.
Here are some suggestions:
Reload this webpage later.
Add Google Chrome as a permitted program in your firewall's or antivirus software's settings. If it is already a permitted program, try deleting it from the list of permitted programs and adding it again.
If you use a proxy server, check your proxy settings or contact your network administrator to make sure the proxy server is working. If you don't believe you should be using a proxy server, adjust your proxy settings: Go to the Chrome menu > Settings > Show advanced settings... > Change proxy settings... > LAN Settings and deselect the "Use a proxy server for your LAN" checkbox.
Error 109 (net::ERR_ADDRESS_UNREACHABLE): Unable to reach the server.

it show something like this~i have been try other way but also cant solve it~
I read another thread about checking the windows HOSTS file but my HOSTS do not have any entries for Facebook in there...

It's been nearly a week now, and no matter which browser I use (Firefox, Internet Explorer, and last night, I even downloaded Google Chrome to see ...) will not open pages such as facebook, oldnavy.com, part of the weather.com page, and aol.com. By doesn't load, I mean it says it is loading, but then never actually does. Usually just a white page. (Although very rarely, the page WiLL load, but not correctly. It will just be the links lined up vertically). However, for some reason, when I log onto the actual AOL program, I can access these sites, although they are very slow. I'm using Windows XP, by the way. I have McAffee, and I've downloaded several spyware/virus detectors to try to fix hte problem, but none of them detect anything. I've also cleared the history, cookies, temporary files, and tried to do a system restore to last month (but it said it was unable to do so). Hi, I know this probably seems a trivial problem...but it really bugs me! Every so often i find that i can not access the facebook page...hmepage/profile etc. Cant even get as far as the log in page.
I get a "failed to Connect" error. I can access every page i want to, i turn of my firewalls etc...i have changed any browser settings. I use Firefox...but I.E does the same as well.

My pc is linked to my partners for the internet.

I sometimes have an inkling he might be doing something to block the site...either on my pc or through his...but i cant be sure and dont even know if its possible!

Thanks

A:Cannot load Facebook

Hi,

You don't know what the exact error is would you. This would really help us figure out if it is a server error on their side or a browser error on your side. If you can come up with what it is that would be great. Otherwise there really isn't a lot that we can do for you.

Cheers!

Ok, I am running Windows 7 on my laptop, and windows xp on my desktop... For almost a week now, I can go anywhere on the internet I want from either computer, using Firefox, Chrome or IE....until I try to go to Facebook! It doesn't matter which computer I use, or which browser I use, when I put "Facebook" in my search engine, it loads and loads and loads.... then finally get the message "connection interrupted"... It will not load the signin page... I have checked my "host" and have done 6 or 7 virus scans, deleted and reinstalled FF, reset my modem and router...shut off my computers and restarted them... I'm not computer savy, just have done things I see others suggest... I'm at a loss. I can get there through mfacebook.com and it loads fine off my laptop, and I tried the numbers link I have seen you suggest on here, and that does not work for me...HELP! thanks in advance!

...and could possibly help me?

Basically, I have no problem logging in on the main page. Everything is displayed perfectly fine. But as soon as I login, all I see is the top of the page and nothing on My Timeline loads up at all. I try clicking on multiple things within the site and nothing works as well, besides my actual Facebook profile. From there, half of my page loads up and then nothing will be displayed anymore either. Also mind you, any one else can access their own Facebook, it's just mine specifically that won't load up properly.

I've tried:

- Updated router.
- Unchecked IPv6.
- Cleared cookies/cache.
- Run as an administrator and reset Winsock, ipv4/ipv6.
- Ran multiple scans with Malwarebytes and Security Essentials.
- Using command prompt and flushing my DNS as well as renewing it.[/I]

This is getting really infuriating of a problem. Help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Hey everyone. About 3 days ago my Facebook stopped loading. I know this is a dumb reason to write on here but it's the only way I have to talk to some of my family. I have tried getting it to load on IE 9, Google Chrome, and Mozilla Firefox. It's windows 7 - 64 bit. I have messed with everything.. the firewall, cleared everything.. It'll bring up the login page and then when I log in it only brings up the blue bar at the top. It won't let me click on anything. All other websites are working fine. Please help!!!

A:Facebook will not load no matter what I do!!

I just wrote up something similar to your problem (except the user could not access Google/Bing instead of Facebook). I would check that out and see if that fixes the problem and of course would just contact the ISP if you don't know how to do any of the suggested solutions or none of them work.

Google not working, please help!

Best of luck!

Well, it's been years since I've had to come to this forum, but this issue I've stumbled on does not seem to have an answer outside of trying to reinstall Windows. Hopefully some of you have another solution.

The issue is Facebook games will not load. Every game I try it gets stuck on the load/connecting stage. It works fine on another computer. Logging into other Facebook accounts results in the same thing as well. Here are the things I have tried..

I've run MalwareBytes, McAffee, Microsoft Security Essentials, TDSKiller, Microsoft Malicious Removal Tool, AVG, possibly others, I don't remember all of them at this point.
I've cleared the cache from all browsers
I've cleared the cache of Flash Player
I've uninstalled Flash Player, Chrome, FireFox, and reinstalled them
I've reverted back to an older Internet Explorer and reinstalled to version 10
I've disabled the Windows Firewall
I've booted in safe mode with networking and tried from there
I've made sure JavaScript and ActiveX are enabled on the browser settings
I've tested on sites such as dslreports.com (which offers both java and flash based speed tests), it works fine
I've pulled my hair out
So far nothing has made any difference. This computer was infected with malware back in January, and I believe it was around the same time that the games stopped working. It's likely related I'm sure, but everything appears clean at this point.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I saw that ... Read more

since yesterday late afternoon I keep getting "this webpage is not available" and I get a list of things to try:

Here are some suggestions:
- Reload this webpage later.
- Check your Internet connection. Restart any router, modem, or other network devices you may be using.
- Add Google Chrome as a permitted program in your firewall's or antivirus software's settings. If it is already a permitted program, try deleting it from the list of permitted programs and adding it again.
- If you use a proxy server, check your proxy settings or contact your network administrator to make sure the proxy server is working. If you don't believe you should be using a proxy server, adjust your proxy settings: Go to the wrench menu > Options > Under the Hood > Change proxy settings... > LAN Settings and deselect the "Use a proxy server for your LAN" checkbox.

Well, first one doesn't work. Second one...don't think it's my internet connection as every other page I've tried to load comes right up. and so I get to option 3 and I think that's a good thing to try. except I don't know how to do that. I also have no clue about the 4th option. I might unplug the modem, router, etc. and plug back in a little later.

Is there anyone out there that can help with this? Obviously it's not urgent. I can get facebook to load fine on my netbook with Windows 7.

Hi,
I can access any webpage with the exception of Facebook. When I enter the web address, it comes up with 'internet explorer cannot display the webpage' Facebook was on my favourites bar, but following advice, I've emptied my cache and tried again, with no joy. I did manage to get in via a convoluted way via Bing, but my photos were missing and as soon as I tried to go to the 'scrabble' link, it popped up with the Internet Exporer error message again.
This problem can be caused by a variety of issues, including:

Internet connectivity has been lost.
The website is temporarily unavailable.
The Domain Name Server (DNS) is not reachable.
The Domain Name Server (DNS) does not have a listing for the website's domain.
There might be a typing error in the address.
If this is an HTTPS (secure) address, click Tools, click Internet Options, click Advanced, and check to be sure the SSL and TLS protocols are enabled under the security section.
I've checked all of the above but no joy.
Any help, much appreciated, thanks

I know there have been other threads on this topic, however, I have read them and tried all of their solutions to no avail.

This problem started when I switched to Comcast service. Our setup is now a Comcast modem, hooked up to a netgear wireless router. I figure the problem has to be there somewhere.

I can access any other web page just fine. I can connect to fb momentarily at random times throughout the day, no more than 5 minutes, and this issue occurs on all of my computers. Here's the odd thing...when I cannot access the fb homepage I also cannot use fb to sign in to any other social apps like twitter, smugmug, etc. and the facebook widget on my website pulls up blank as well, showing a cannot connect error.

I've gone to the sites to check if the site was down for everyone, and was assured it was only me.

I've tried accessing it over https

I've checked for a firewall blockage and for a blocked/restricted sites entry

I've cleared the cache/cookies, flushed the DNS, restarted all the devices and routers.

I've edited the hosts file and tried deleting the hosts file.

I've set my MTU at 1400 and synchronized my clock.

That accounts for all the solutions I could find online. They have all failed for me.

For whatever reason this website seems to want to randomly refuse to connect. It's most vexing.
Any help would be appreciated
