I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi all,

Okay so I want to run the Sims 3 on my HP Pavilion dm3-1021tx Entertainment Notebook PC and I'm not sure if my comp can handle it. I tried the 'can you run it' website and it narrowly misses the minimum requirements based on CPU.

Here are my laptops specifications: http://h10010.www1.hp.com/wwpc/nz/en/ho/WF06b/321957-321957-3329744-64354-64354-4011360-4044755.html

And these are the Sims 3 requirements:
http://www.thesims3.com/game/systemreq

Now the reason I don't fully trust the can you run it website is because my laptop has a dual processor and I heard that means the 1.3GHz actually doubles or something? I don't know, that could be really wrong..

So will the Sims 3 will be basically unplayable on my system or should it be fine?

Also if there is no point me getting the game for my current system, how can i upgrade the CPU?

Sorry if this is a stupid question.... dont know much about this kind of stuff!

Hello, all! I was checking some games out on System Requirements Lab website(canyourunit.com) and I checked SWAT 4. So it ran through the test and said I can play the perfectly, because I passed both tests. But then when I checked what would be the required GHz to play this game it says 2.2GHz. I was like "WHAT?", that's because I only have 1.8 GHZ, but I still passed it! System Requirements Lab says this "You Have: 1.80 GHz Performance Rated at 3.10 GHz". Now I am a bit confused. What is my real GHz? And what does it mean by Performance Rated at 3.10 GHZ???
Help please!

Hi,
I've been using Google Talk to make phone calls since 2010, although the quality of the calls were usually so-so at best (Static, gaps in conversation, etc). Most people I know who use it are happy with theirs. Upgrading the connection speed didn't help, either. Since it's time to buy a new PC, could anyone tell me what system requirement options i should choose in order to optimize the call quality?
Thank you!

Dear all,

I would like someone to advise me if I can used a 17" LCD Monitor on my very old system bought in 1999 HP Pavilion 6619 Celeron 600Mhz.
Will the LCD monitor work with the system or do I need a better spec.system.

Hope someone can help.

Thanks

A:LCD Monitor minimum system requirement

It will almost certainly work, there's almost no requirements for monitors. The connections need to match, and I'm sure both have the same DB-15 VGA connector, and then ideally you want the video card to support the native resolution that the monitor is designed to run at. That resolution will be marked on the box and you will want to match that in Display Properties. The monitor will work at lower resolutions but the quality will be poor. For a 17" LCD the native resolution will be either 1024x768 or 1280x1024.

A few days ago an on screen message said words to the effect that Windows had encountered a problem and needed to close. The system cycled through a diagnostic sequence - an attempt at repair - eventually closed down. When rebooted followed much the same sequence.

I tried using a Windows Repair Disc, which opened up several repar options, but all eventually led back to the on-screen message - Windows has encountered a problem and needs to close down.

The system was restored using an external hard drive with a copy of system image. However, when the system is booted - within seconds a box appears on screen asking for a password to be entered. When the password is entered the boot continues without a hitch and Windows 10 works as normal.

The introduction of a password could well be something that I stumbled into whilst trying to solve the initial problem - I cannot honestly recall - but I would appreciate guidance as to how to eliminate this step from the boot process.

I am a HUGE Elder Scrolls fan. I'm going to get Oblivion in Stepember for my birthday (the collector's edition, in fact).

I've got a FX 5200, which is pretty weak. The system requirments say that Oblivion will run on the FX Series, but I'm not naive, I'm assuming its made to run on a FX 5600 or FX 5900, but I was happy that it would at least chug along and run.

Then, I went to the System Requirement Lab and ran Oblivion and it said that my PC won't run Oblivion, saying that Oblivion requires a FX 5700 or something. I was heartbroken and almost on the verge of depression (no joke) that I wouldn't get to play Oblivion, since it was hyped up.

Then I heard about this mod Oldblivion that can run Oblivion on cards has late has GeForce 3 series.

My question is, will Oldblivion help me?

I would say no.

The 12 volt rail on your psu is 62 amps.

One evga gtx780 ti requires 42 amps on the 12 volt rail.

Full load means the gpu is at maximum usage without overclock.

Hi everybody,

For the last several days, I've been doing a lot of research about whether my power supply can support my graphics card, but I can't seem to find a definate answer. What I have is a 450 watt power supply; it has one single 12v rail that provides 24 amps. My graphics card is a ATI Radeon X1950 Pro PCI-E. It requires a 450 watt power supply and recommends 30 amps on the 12v rail.

When I asked whether my PSU can support my graphics card on other forums, some people tell me it can, but others tell me it can't, so I'm really confused right now. I had my X1950 hooked up and running for 3 days without having any problem, but I took it out today, just to be safe until I can get a definate answer. Although I do notice that my power supply runs cooler without the X1950 hooked up.

But on other forums, I even heard people run this card on a 18 amp 12v rail without any problem and they even have it running on a fully loaded system with 2x HDD, 2x DVD Drive, cooling system, fans and lights. And many people say that 22 amps should be the minimum to this card and 24 amps should be fine. However, there are also people who say that you should follow the manufacturers recommendation and get a minimum 30 amps power supply.

To give you a better idea of my system, here are the specs.

Thank you.

A:x1950 Pro PSU requirement

A short answer no. ATI says a min of 450W with at least 30amp on the 12V rail for that card. It looks like you are running a prescott cpu. If that is correct, then I would go with a min of 550W and 35amp on the 12V rail.

Do not go cheap on the pw supply. Doing so can [and often does] cause ALL types of problems.

What are the min requirement to install win2k on a PC?

A:Win2K Requirement

These are the minimum system requirements that are listed on Microsoft's Website.
Your computer should meet the following hardware requirements: • 133 MHz or faster Pentium-compatible CPU
• 64 megabytes (MB) of RAM minimum; more memory generally improves responsiveness (4 gigabytes [GB] RAM maximum)
• 2 GB hard disk space with a minimum of 650 MB of free space (additional free hard disk space is required if you are installing over a network) Click to expand...

Can't say I would try and run Windows 2000 that way. I would go with a minimum of 256mb of ram. And it doesn't run to fast on a Pentium 133. I have Windows 2000 running on a Pentium II 400mhz with 192mb of ram. It runs most office applications just fine. I actually run Office 2003 on it.

Two things:
1. YOu dont want to load video onto the same drive that houses your applications--you want a seperate capture drive just for video.
2. Don't waste your time or money on the 10,000 rpm drive. It will make no difference in terms of quality or reliability when editing DV. Also, 36 gig's is nothing when it comes to video. Get yourself a large 7200rpm 8mbcache drive--they are cheap these days.

The key here is that I can predefine what files need to go to what zip file from an Excel list, but I don't know of a way to allocate accordingly, other than doing it manually, which isn't going to happen!

eg,

Im0001.png through to Im1000.png in the folder, and they need to be split to 4 separate archives. There's no sequence to the split, it's based on what country that image belongs to.

I'm looking at Pacquet Builder atm but I'm not sure it's got the functionality I'm looking for.

Hope I'm kinda making sense, any help would be very very appreciated.

I'm trying to figure out how many amps at 12v the system I'm building will require, since it seems like the true limit of basically any PSU is the amount of power is supplies on 12v rails. I have a PSU that supplies 17A at 12v and I'm hoping that will be enough. The system is pretty basic:

ASUS M3N78-EM mobo with NVIDIA GeForce 8300 onboard video
AMD Athlon 64 X2 5400+ Brisbane 2.8GHz 65W processor
1 SATA HD
1 SATA DVD-ROM drive
May add one or two IDE or SATA HDs and a TV tuner card down the road

I'm having trouble finding data on how much these devices will draw from the 12v specifically. The CPU isn't hard, since it draws all its power at 12v: 65W/12v = 5.4A. Let's say 6.5A with imperfect efficiency, though I have no idea at what efficiency I should expect the CPU to operate. But what about the rest? In particular, I expect the onboard video to draw significant power at 12v, but I can't find how much.

Can anyone help? And can anyone suggest a resource for finding this kind of information in the future? When I find power usage information at all, it's usually simply listed in watts, without specifying which rail it's drawn from.

I did find the following two links in thread:

http://www.extreme.outervision.com/PSUEngine
http://web.aanet.com.au/SnooP/psucalc.php

Both seem pretty useful (if a little out of date), but neither site seems to have good information on onboard video.

A:Please help me calculate power requirement

The onboard graphics doesn't draw significant amounts of power. You could say 1-2 A on the 12 V rail. It's quite a lot less than what a better discrete graphics card, let's say Radeon 4350 would draw.
What's the actual model of your power supply? If it's a "Ultra value 500w power supply" then even the underpowered 17 A @ 12V isn't most probably true, rather it's measured as a top peak output at unrealistic circumstances, for example a lot lower ambient temp than what it normally operates at.

I have a biostar n68s3b motherboard and on the manufacturers website it states my motherboards "recommended" tdp is 95. Does this mean anything over 95 tdp will not work, lets take the phenom ii x 4 965 125. Will this cpu work on my motherboard but be above recommendation or will it not work at all. I have also seen the same model cpu in 3 different tdp versions. Also do unlocked cpu have variable tdp. For example if I change the mhz on a cpu wouldnt what increase the tdp as well? and if so would a cpu rated 95 w on its manufacturers website be accurate if the cpu is unlockable. sorry if im wording this bad but ill give it a try. lets say i put a "unlockable" 95 w cpu in my motherboard that's rated for a 95 w cpu. If i overclock it wouldn't that bring the tdp/w over 95 w and if it does wouldn't that cause interruptions on a motherboard rated for only 95 w?

A:Are motherboard tdp/w a recommendation or a requirement ??

The TDP is the 'recommended' maximum power the Cpu should run at. If that figure is exceeded, either because the Cpu itself has a higher TDP rating or it's overclocked, it can cause overheating of the Cpu and/or of the VRMs (Voltage Regulator Modules) which supply power to the Cpu.

In your question that 965 TDP 125 Watt Cpu would work but if it runs near 100% for long enough (a few minutes) it could get hot enough to throttle back to a slower speed or even shut down the PC. Plus it could overheat the VRMs which would damage the motherboard.

Basically you need a motherboard that can supply enough power to the Cpu and Cpu cooling that can keep the Cpu temperature low enough to stop the Cpu from slowing down or switching the PC off.

Some Cpus have different versions with different TDP ratings.

See here for a list of Cpus compatible with your motherboard (all are TDP 95W or less) :-

When I bought my computer I made sure I got an AGP graphics card because I knew I wanted to play games.

My sister just bought a new computer and she probably didn't.

I have a 32mb agp graphics card. I believe she has 64 mb of onboard video. Can she play games that say they need an "agp graphics card" with 32 mb of video ram? I'm just wondering if she doesn't have an agp graphics card can she not play any game that has that as a requirement even though she has more than enough video memory.

I just want to know whether I can recommend games for her to buy, if she will be able to play them.

thank you very much,
Robert Kupferer

If a drive is encrypted with BitLocker and you choose to not require any form of pre-boot authentication the system will simply boot and unlock when you login.

If you encrypt a computer with BitLocker and chose to set a PIN, is there any way to later retract the pre-boot PIN requirement and revert back to the scenario above without first decrypting and re-encrypting?
I've looked at the various options via manage-bde and tested a few such as:
manage-bde -protectors -delete C: -Type TPMAndPIN
Unfortunately this simply removed the simple PIN and instead requires the recovery key. Using the same command to delete the recovery key breaks the system.
Any help is greatly appreciated!

A:Remove BitLocker PIN Requirement

Apologies for replying to an old-ish question but I believe I have a solution.
Assuming any group policy changes relating to BitLocker PINs have been reset,  enter the command
manage-bde -protectors -add C: -tpm. This will reconfigure BitLocker into using just the TPM and delete the PIN as well.
If you run manage-bde -status and look under Key Protectors you should see Numerical Password (ie the recovery key) and either TPM on a system that does not use a PIN, or TPM And PIN on a system that does. If you try to remove the PIN by just removing the
TPM and PIN key protector the only means of unlocking the drive available is Numerical Password, causing you to be prompted for the recovery key at every boot. You have to specifically tell BitLocker to use just the TPM instead, it wont automatically default
to this setting.

I'm trying to install SP1 for Windows 7, the beta, and it says I need 9 gig free to install. I only have 6. Is there a way to bypass this at all?

A:How to get around space requirement on SP install?

Actually you could move some files and folders to another place to free up hard drive space. If you don't have a spare hard drive you can use DVD/CD, thumb drive, or an external drive.

Other than that, no you can't get around the space requirements. I would also say that if you're that low on space, perhaps it's time to upgrade to a bigger hard drive.

I am running XP home on two wired (cat 5) computers. I have replaced one and although I can see the other computer in explorer and the file folders I can't gain access due to a dialog box that asks for a password. The other computer has full access to the computer I'm having the problem with. The network is working fine going one way only. I have set up many networks and this is the first time I have had this problem. I have gone thru all setups to confirm that they are correct! ???

HELP!

A:log in requirement for local network

The account you logon your machine has to exist on the replaced machine. Same name same password. You also need to have file and print sharing enabled as well as the windows firewall set to allow file and print sharing. Than you will have access without being asked for a password.

Probably the wrong forum, but It might be a browser problem.
Using latest FF, and to see a larger version of any thumbnail
on the SevenForums, I get a login screen. This behavior
started about a month ago (?)
Is this behavior a new requirement ?
I've sent this question twice to Admin and have not got a
response.

A:Requirement To Log In To See Full Sized Thumbnails

Not a browser problem. It's the same with IE, FF and Chrome, seems to be a new requirment as you said, things change.

Hi Guys,

I recently had a problem with excel that was kindly sorted here.As a complete newbie to Access I am taking my first tentative steps. I now have a similar problem on access 2003. I am trying to enter data in the form hhhh:mm, then compare two fields to see if within 20 hours of each other.
I want to keep a running total of hours run for and aircraft and can't figure out how to enter the data into a field as hhhh:mm. On excel I custom formatted the cell to hhhh:mm and it worked.
Have managed to import the excel file but the entries show as text.

Anyone know how to enter it as hhhh:mm in access?

Thanks in advance
Keith
