I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

I have a laptop running both windows 10 and ubuntu. The audio worked just fine but since yesterday I couldn't hear a thing  on windows or ubuntu.. There is a red circle with a white 'X' on the speaker icon in the taskbar. When I hower my mouse over it, it says "No Audio Output Device is installed".
I tried to find solutions online but I couldn't solve the issue. I don't have the  "Sound, Video and Game Controllers" option under Device Manager. Sound/ Playback gives the message  "No audio devices are installed". I can't open the Realtek app. When I ran driver easy, it said that Realtek audio is unplugged.
Please do help me. I've been working on this for a while now and have had no luck. Any help is appreciated.Thank you.

A:No audio from speakers or headsets

theodorebear,Click the link below to choose your computer model and then the OS you have installed. Download and install the chipset drivers first and reboot. You can then download and install the audio drivers and install them as well. Reboot the machine. Depending on the system Dell may not have Ubuntu drivers.

Hello everyone, lately I've been receiving issues with the audio coming out of the wrong place when im using my new headphones. I'm not sure if it could be a problem with skype because it only happens when im on a call with somebody.

So every time im in a call with someone on skype, the audio from the call stays in my headsets just fine and usual but everything else starts coming out from my speakers. This is especially annoying because my headsets are noise cancelling and i cannot hear the audio properly from the speakers anymore.

Also the headsets i am currently using are SteelSeries Siberia V2

A:Audio comes out of both headsets and speakers

Hi Electros,

Skype has it's own Audio section in the settings iirc, open Skype, find the audio settings and in there you can chose from a drop down menu which device you want for playback and mic.

Is there a fix for getting my Logitech Premium Notebook Headset PN980445-0403 (goes behind the ear) to work with Ultimate? I need to be able to use it with my headset jack and a splitter with another headphone set. I also need to be able to use it with the splitter and some external speakers, preferably the Bose Monitors. The mic jack works with the Logitech headset (above).

I upgraded to Ultimate and suddenly these things do not work!

I need to be able to record through the mic with my headset on while someone else is listening through their headset or comfortably listening to speakers. (No external mixers, no subwoofers).

Thanks.

A:Headsets and Speakers w/Vista Ultimate 64

Wow thats quite an interesting setup. How is it that it doesnt work? Does the computer not sense anything plugged in? Or does it see it, but no audio?
Does the computer sees it, but the mic doesnt work?

You need to tell us HOW it doesnt work.

SO:
Are you using onboard audio (the one on your motherboard) or a sound card?
Try using each thing seperatly, such as jsut the speakers, and make sure that each thing works individually first.

Earlier today I emerged from a bathroom break to find my headphones in the middle of the floor with the plug bent thanks to my dog. Now the strangest thing has happened: My speakers won't work. I know they're on; when I turn them up I can hear a hiss, but there's no other audio. There's no evidence to suggest my dog got to them and it's almost impossible for him to reach. What has happened? The speaker plug is in the computer rock solid. The only remote possibility I can think of is that the computer somehow didn't realize the headphones have left the audio jack, but looking around I have seen nothing to suggest that the headphones are still registering.

Does anybody know what has happened?

UPDATE: I got the headsets fixed. It seems my theory might be correct, as the PC does not notify me anymore when I plug them in or remove them.

A:My headsets are broken, so my speakers don't work?

Were the headphones plugged into the computer when the dog got to them? If so, my thought is that the thing the headphone plugs into may be damaged.

What is the make and model of the computer?

A:Speakers disabled when I plugged in and out the headsets

Barring a problem with the headphone jack, after you unplugged the headphones, try reinstalling the device. Go to the Device Manager, RIGHT click on the device to highlight it, then click Uninstall (DO NOT Uninstall the drivers). Restart the PC and when Windows starts it will detect and reinstall the sound. If this doesn't fix it, reinstall the PC vendor's sound drivers.

Welcome to sevenforums, Vorbias.

Have you checked the volume control to ensure that when the headphones are plugged in it is set to a high volume? I had the same issue and making the volume control visible on the taskbar and then opening the "mixer" when I plugged in the headset and setting the volume up fixed it.

I had my speakers on and they worked fine. I plugged in my headset and then it I tried, but I only hear the speakers sound, not the headset.

Hi Everyone,

This forum has been fantastic for helping me with a virus issue, so hopefully, you all can help with an audio issue. I think I put this in the correct forum, if not please move.

I recently updated my nVidia graphics drivers, but somehow it messed up my audio as well. I have heard that this can happen for some strange reason. Before this issue, I had my audio coming through my 2 logitech desktop speakers and sub perfectly. Also, when I would plug in a USB Headset and Microphone the USB Port would stop any future audio going to my speakers, and instead, put them into the headset. I would typically be playing a game having the sound coming out of the speakers, but if I wanted to listen to a little tunes, I could plug in the headset and listen to some music but still have game sounds on the speakers. Now basically what the issue is, when I plug the headset into the front USB jack, I hear myself breathing (never did that before). In addition, the audio does not go to the headset on 1 of the 2 jacks. Also, now when I use the application Ventrilo, it will not recognize my headset.

It may help to provide what I have as far as hardware:

WinXP Home 32 bit
Intel Quad Core Q9300
ASUS P5Q PRO Turbo Mobo
Antec 900 Case (two USB in front)
EVGA GeForce GTX460

Not sure if there is anything else that would need to be provided. Also, I checked the device manager, and there are multiple instances of: nVidia HD Audio, so I am not too sure what that is all about. In f... Read more

The audio quality of our built-in Beats Audio speakers is very good. Quality of audio played through BlueTooth is fine. However, the quality of the audio played through any device connected via the audio jack is terrible. The sound comes through as though the speakers or headset have blown cones when they sound absolutely fine connected to other devices (mobile phone, tablet, other computer, etc.). We have ensure that our Realtek drivers are updated and have seen many other complaints about this with no definitive means of correcting it. Has anyone learned of a way to fix this audio problem or should we simply plan to never play audio through this laptop to any speakers or headphones connected via wire? Thank you in advance for any advice you can offer.

Maybe it can be done by a util on the computer or something....

Hello, I don't know if I should put this here...but it is hardware, so worst comes to worste it'll get moved. Anyways:

I have 7 speakers and 2 subwoofers (a 2.1 and 5.1). I got the 2.1 for christmas, and bought the 5.1 for my PC (that I'm currently building). I'd like to be able to put these speakers together to effectively created a 7.2 system. I think it would be really awesome if I could get all the speakers together, and have the two subwoofers going at once. Is there a piece of equipment that could do this? Wether it's a weird sound card or something outside the computer, it don't care. i'd also like to be able to hook them up to stereos...but PC only is fine. Thanks.

Yeah, so I've been having this problem for about 2 days now on my dad's PC.( it's a slightly old packard bell, i can come back with more details about it if needed) it has windows7 32 bits on it and was working perfectly fine til couple of days ago when he told me some "update" installed automatically, and now the sound wasnt working. I presumed its a driver update but i wasnt too sure. on the speakers icon was a red "X" i think saying "no audio devices connected." now after I tried alot of stuff it says "no speakers or headphones connected." I went searching the internet and found alot of answers, but none of the following worked: - entering BIOS and enabling/disabling onboard audio ( I have to mention after a quick look I realised he doesnt have a sound card but the jacks are directly in the motherboard so to speak), mostly because I couldn't find this option in BIOS - disabling/enabling all the stuff in the device manager->sound, video and game controllers - uninstalling all of them and restarting ( windows automatically started updating them back after rebooting) - searching for realtek drivers on the internet pointlessly before realising its an integrated sound card in the motherboard - tried getting drivers from packard bell's site, but wether i try to search for my PC or type in model i get no results aka they dont have it anymore because old(?not too sure, because its not THAT old)

I just purchased a new 2.1 Genius speaker set for my PC. My PC is a Gateway GT5654 with Windows Vista. Until now I have always used USB speakers and they work with no problems but I wanted to try something just a bit better than the cheap 2.0 that came with the system. I hooked up the speakers according to the manufacturer instructions but when I connect them to the 3.5mm audio jack I cannot get any sound and control panel says "no audio device installed". I checked my bios and my HD audio is set to "Auto" (the only other option is "Disabled"). I have tried connecting to the audio jacks on the front and back.

I suspect that issue is likely with my Realtek audio drivers. I attempted to update / reinstall the Realtek Drivers but now every time I try to install the latest drivers I get an error message when the progress bar is 95% full. My old USB speakers still work but in the device manager the Sound Controller is listed as a generic "High Definition Audio Device".

The only other possibilities I can think of is that my 3.5mm audio jacks are faulty (although I have successfully gotten sound from headphones in the past, I recall it was a bit of a pain to get them working and I don't remember exactly what I did) or that my new speakers are DOA.

Update: I managed to solve the problem. It was the Realtek Drivers as I suspected. I ended up using DriveSweeper to completely remove the old Realtek drivers. Then I went into... Read more

It does not give me a properties option.

Then I went to control panel and searched for sound. Then I saw the screen below. There was a Digital Audio as well and I clicked 'Don't use this device(disable)' on it by mistake and clicked OK.

Now, I only have Speakers option. How do I get the Digital Audio option back in here? I think that will solve my original problem.

Hi, just a quick question... i notice that when I connect an external microphone to the mic/phones combo jack on my laptop, i cannot hear playback of what I recorded UNLESS i unplug the mic. This obviously makes for an impossible workflow. (The laptop in question is Asus N550JV.)

Is this normal behavior on laptops? If so, any workarounds? (besides the obvious ones which are to get a mic that would use a different input technology or using a mic/phones combo headset)? I really like this lapel mic that I have and wanted to use it to record screencasts but having to unplug it everytime when playing back is ridiculous....

A:Laptops disable built-in speakers when ext mic connected??

Many combo jacks are either microphone or headset, but not both. However, some newer laptops are coming with a combo jack that uses the same type connection as an iPhone or Xbox/PS4 which is a "tip, ring1, ring2, sleeve" type jack, rather than the conventional "tip, ring, sleeve".

If yours is the iPhone type, an adapter may work. I can't tell what you have, the ASUS site and ASUS manual do not have specifics on that combo jack.

It may be easier to just get a USB connection type microphone.

This is happening while using programs like spotify and youtube and also windows media player, even playing my cd's. Im not sure about how the wirless network card picks up signals but the sound is fine when my computer is connected to the network, but not when the network is connected to the internet.
My network card also has trouble picking up the signal from our netgear Nrouter especially when my stack is backed up against the wall or something is next to it, even if it just gets moved a couple of inches. But somehow it doesnt have any trouble picking up my neighbours signal, in fact it gets a perfect signal.

Well, I had a similar issue with one of my previous computers. The bad news is that it turned out to be PCI bus latency, and a design issue with the chipset, I finally replaced the MB to solve the issue.

Hi

I have connect my laptop using an HDMI cable to my TV. And from my tv I have connected my two HiFi speakers. When the TV is on an AV channel I have sound coming from the TV and HiFi speakers but when I switch it to the HDMI source channel, sound only comes from the TV and not HiFi speakers.

This is frustrating because I want to watch movies on my TV through my laptop and get the feel of some surround sound through the HiFi speakers but it is not working!!!!

Please Help!

Thanks

A:No sound to HiFi speakers when HDMI Cable Connected

The problem is not your PC but your TV and how it handles HDMI audio. There is nothing we can do for this, it is strictly an issue with your TV and how it routes audio internally (or to external devices).

I am using the HP Advanced Wireless Docking Station (F7M97AA) with the HP Elite X2 1011.  I have HP external speakers connected to the docking station.  Randomly there is no sound.  I can see the indicator bar moving so i know it's working, but there is no sound coming from the speakers.  To solve the problem, i have to reboot the docking station, then the speakers work for a few days and then randomly no sound.  All drivers are up to date.  I've tested with other speakers and the same thing happens.  Any suggestions?

I just installed a gigabyte hd4350 in my hp a1520n desktop bc it has an hdmi output. picture looks good, sound works, however when the hdmi cable is connected to the my samsung lcd tv, i get no sound through my computer speakers even when im not using the tv as a monitor or when the tv is turned off. i get sound through the tv though. when i unplug the hdmi cable from the tv, i get sound on the computer.

is there a fix for this? i have onboard sound enabled in the bios.

i have windows xp 32bit. in the sound and audio device properties, under the audio tab, default device, i see both realtek hd audio output and ati hd audio rear ouput when the hdmi cable is connected. when its not connected, just realtek hd audio is available.

i know i cannot have sound coming through the tv and computer speakers at the same time. is it possible for the sound to be switched back to the computer speakers when the tv is off WITHOUT having to unplug the hdmi cable that goes to the tv?

Weeell. Have you even tried setting the "Default audio playback device" (or whatever, in control panel->sounds->defaults tab to Realtek HD audio when the cable is plugged?

Hi,

I've recently purchased a Samsung T23A750 monitor and to my disappointment when I try to watch a movie the built in speakers are not functioning. I have a Sony Vaio Z216GX connected via HDMI to the monitor (HDMI-DVI) port. I can definitely see the video, but no audio is playing from the speakers. The built in speakers are not at fault- I did a self-diagnosis of the monitor and the speakers seem to work fine. I also set the monitor as the default for the audio and even when Win 7 says its functioning properly, the speakers still don't work. Conversely, setting the default to my PC speakers work fine. I'm sure its not the HDMI cable- I used the same one to hook my pc to my tv with everything working fine. Any ideas??

make sure you have the latest drivers for the hdmi can check by going to the windows start bar and right clicking on computer and choosing manage then click device manger and open the tab were it says sound, video and game controllers if you see somthing related to hdmi and has a yellow triangle then right click on it and update software if no yellow triangle is there try it anyways if that doesn't help then post here again, hopefully someone who knows more about hdmi can help also because i never had hdmi but ive had audio problems with my speakers before and this is how ive fixed it before

Hi.

I don't know if Im posting this issue in the right forum.. My problem is that when I connect my earphones in the earphones hole on my sony vaio laptop, I do hear the sound through the earphones, but it also comes from the laptop's inbuilt speakers.

When I right-click on the speaker icon in the system tray, and then go to playback devices, all I find is speaker/HP (Realtek High Definition Audio).

Don't know what's wrong. Please help!

I used System Upate to install the latest Lenovo Power Management Driver 1.67.14.05.  After this, I've noticed that my external speakers which are plugged into the Thunderbolt Dock pop whenever there is some sort of audio/video on the screen right as it loads or after leaving a web page even if no video/audio is actually playing.  This also occurs outside of just webpages, with an application that gives me audio notifications, there's a subtle pop before the sounds plays as well. I isolated the issue down to the Thunderbolt Dock only.  If I plug my speakers into the laptop directly and use the built-in Realtek HD Audio, no issue at all.  Something changed with regards to how audio is output through the dock and/or with this latest Power Management Driver update.  It's actually very annoying the popping sound that the speakers make, especially when they're turned up loud.  I tried some old solution that was Windows 10 specific with changing the minimum processor % while plugged in to 100% instead of the default of 5% in the power settings but that didn't help at all.  I'm pretty confident that this latest driver is what introduced this new issue. Anyone else experiencing this same issue, feel free to comment.

Also, to clarify, the speakers are Logitech Z623 using the 3.5mm input.

ok so i got a new compaq pc and my old polkaudio speakers wont work! does anyone no what the problem is? i no that they are connected properly, and the volume is cranked to the fullest and all sounds still play quietly. the speakers worked properly on my old pc though.

A:speakers not working properly, sound is very low, connected properly, please help!

I think...

1.You may have accidently adjusted you sound configuration settings.
2.You may not have the correct sound Drive (Or none at all). If so check your sound card and browse the web for installable driver (The acctual drivers don't cost anything)

Questions is:

my computer is connected via HDMI to my avr which plays through that & tv display...

long story short..

im not home so I am connected to my house computer via "team viewer" but unable to get sound, any way to bypass the "No speaker or headphone" so i could hear it while im remotely in?

I know it is possible it worked a while ago but not sure as to why it happening now

A:"No speakers or headphones connected" Bypass?

When HDMI is used, the regular PC sound card is not used, the audio is generated by the Video Card. You would probably have to either have a way to change the default playback device to "Speakers" (PC sound card) or some way to access the HDMI audio.

Anyone know what headsets with a microphone are compatible with the Aspire V series? I have the V3-572G-543S. I need a headset to play games but my current one doesn't have a place to connect the microphone.

A:Headsets

Hi agirl17,

You might want to look at USB headsets with a mic, or if you dont plan on moving around with the notebook just a USB microphone.

Hope this helps,Cory
