Video Card-Mother Board??

Q: Video Card-Mother Board??

Looking for information on a graphics problem
I have an MSI N460GTX Cyclone 1GB video card.
It has given problems in my computer since the computer was new. BSODs, artifacts, glitches etc. The card was returned three times, once by itself and twice in the entire computer.
The computers onboard video works perfectly but of course will not run Witcher II or Crysis II.
A temporary replacement video card (Radeon 5450) works perfectly but of course will not run the games.
I assumed a bad video card or possibly a conflict with the NVIDIA card and the motherboard (Im grabbing at straws). The MB onboard video is AMI.
This morning I removed the video card (NVIDIA GeForce GTX 275) from my wifes computer and put in the MSI N460GTX Cyclone card. It is working perfectly in her computer.
I put the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 275 in my computer and it works perfectly in my computer.
So now, the N460 apparently is good, the MB must not have a problem with an NVIDIA card. What could be causing the problem with that one card in my computer?
My PSU is much more than adequate for the 460 card. I have tried two different video drivers including the latest (280.26) and still the problems exist.
My system specs are:
AMD Phenom II 1055T
8GB Corsair XMS
Mother Board BIOSTAR TA890GXE
Windows 7 HP 64bit

Preferred Solution: Video Card-Mother Board??

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

It might be worth checking on the Biostar website to see if there are any BIOS updates or anything, this may be a known problem.

hi! first and foremost, my system specs is
CPU: C2D e6550 2.3ghz
MOBO: Gigabyte gigabyte g31m-es2c
RAM: 2gb team elite
GPU: msi r4870 overclocked edition 512mb
HDD: 2x 500gb seagate
PSU: Corsair hx520

what happened is when i inserted my external hdd(western digital 320gb) i got a blue screen, when i try to examine the said blue screen i thought it might be the gpu cause theres an ati word on it, so i just restarted and tried and then again i got the blue screen. when i restarted and tried putting my external hdd again my pc just turned off. when i try to power it on i got a beeping sound. i tried taking the vc out and letting the onboard gpu run. i successfully got to windows w/o any problem.. my question is could it be my vc or just a bad pcie slot? i cant test any of my components cause i dont have any spare nor a friend that has a pc, everyone of them is using a laptop.

Please help!! I have a Radeon 4830, just put it in plugged in monitor cable and nothing shows on monitor, but if i plugged in the cable to the mother board then the screen shows up, i looked and it doesn't show that i have a video card plugged in please help really frustrating!

A:Video card is not read by mother board!

I'm going to assume that graphics card is actually an AMD Radeon HD 4830 model.

We're not there, so you need to post a detailed description of your computer and its hardware.

So recently I got a new monitor assuming that something is wrong with my old one. But the same problem occurs, my monitor still goes blank! Well, ever since I switched my video card (same time I got my old monitor) I was experiencing that problem. People at the store are no help at all since they are so clueless!

So I came to this conclusion, its either my video card that's experiencing problems or my mother board is getting out dated or whatsoever. (I got it back in 2003 and its Pentium 4 hyper-threading) My current mother board doesn't have a monitor slot on the pentium, only has a slot where the video card is. I don't think that could be a problem because when I had my old video card, I never experienced any problems. Please help.

A:Video card or mother board issue?

Youre going to have to be a little more specific about the problem. When does the screen go blank? What type of video card are you running? And a Pentium 4 w/ HT is by no means outdated.

I have a Compaq Presario with a ECS Alhena5 1.0 board. What is a good graphics card that can be used with that? I have windows 7 64 bit on it. I have an ATI Radeon 1100 series graphics card now. It's probably the original that came in it. I would like to install the windows 10 software when it comes available. I got a message that this graphics card is not compatible with 10.
Thanks in advance.

A:Graphics card for mother board

What is the exact model of the Compaq you have? The power supply will likely be a small 250 or 300 watt unit that will limit a graphics card upgrade. Regardless this system should never be upgraded to Windows 10, it's not really suited for Windows 10 and performance will be terrible. These systems never officially supported Windows 7. You'd be better off saving the money from the upgrades and buy a used or new system.

and also, i want to upgrade my geforce 2 mx 400 vid card but almost all the vid cards above that are ddr ram. if my mother board doesnt support ddr ram, can i still use a ddr ram video card (will it just clock at lower speeds), or do i have to find a sd ram(pc 133) video card?

If I hit any key the keyboard goes dark. After reading that it could be a legacy bios issue I bought a GeForce GT 730, but with the same result as the 760. And this is where I'm at. If I put the old graphics card back in it replicates the same failed boot problem, and the other cards don't load properly. Any ideas?

A:Graphics Card/Mother Board issue

@Redsg, welcome to the forum. I believe that the GT 730 requires UEFI in the motherboard the same as the GTX 760.  You can contact the manufacturer's Tech Support to see what they have to say. One other suggestion, you should test the power supply unit (PSU) to see if it is failing.  Here is a guide to help you troubleshoot it.  The symptoms that you describe can be caused by a failing PSU. Please click the Thumbs up + button if I have helped you and click Accept as Solution if your problem is solved.

Good evening I recently purcahsed a Asus geforce gtx 760 from a friend and a new Thermaltake TR2 600W power supply for my computer.   I installed them both and turned my computer on.  All components had power, the computer stalled at the HP blue loading screen with the hand.  It gave me the option to enter boot mode but would not allow me to access it.  There was a single beep with a long pause and then another beep, this hapened for a bit and then multiple beeps but would not allo me past that screen.   I reinstalled my older graphics card and left the new power supply back in. The computer started up fine and I am still able to use it.  I tried installing the card again, made sure all connections were good, but received the same result.  I did not take off any of the existing drivers or was unable to insatll the cd drivers that came with the card. CPU - HP Pavilion p7-1127cGraphics Card - ASUS GTX760-DC2OC-2GD5Power Supply - Thermaltake TR2 600W Thank you,Curtis

I recently pulled my wireless adapter card out of my notebook before stopping the service. Ever since then I have lost my sound on the laptop. I have 2 devices that I can't seem to find drivers for on this old laptop. It is a Dell Laptop (Inspiron 7000) C336LT. The sound card is integrated on the motherboard. I went to dell and reinstalled the bios and the only other drivers they have listed is a network adapter driver. When I look at the system informations to try and find who makes the motherboard it says not available. Imagine that . My question is this. Is there anywhere that I can find drivers for this integrated sound card or do I need to find the drivers for the motherboard? I believe the sound card is a ESS Maestro2. I have searched everywhere I know and then some to find drivers. the only drivers I have found so far have been for a PCI ESS Maestro2 card. My other question would be, is there a way to find out who made this motherboard for Dell? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Below is a picture of my Device Manager.

Hi all,
I have a dell here with on board video that has failed (someone literally pulled the connector off of the motherboard). The system should be fine otherwise, therefore I was wondering if I could put in a old style PCI video card into one of the PCI slots (it does not have a video slot) and have it work. Or would the onboard video cause conflicts? I know that with some BIOS's you can turn off the onboard video, and this is usually a option if the motherboard has a video slot available (agp, PCI Express). Of course this motherboard does not and is a dell cheapo.

I am thinking it will probably work but thought I would ask before getting a card for it.

A:Can a dell use a pci video card if it has on board video?

Will a PCI video card work? Possibly!

Attached is a pic of a board where the Sub-D connector was pulled from the board, and when it was pulled it shorted out the board, and a PCI card would not work.

Hey im thinking of upgrading my pc so i can just hook it up hdmi to my tv. Ive looked around and my mobo only supports pci cards, which when i checked the hdmi out cards were a bit pricey. It also has one agp 4x slot but cant find a decent card in that department.

Should i get a new MOBO instead with an integrated hdmi out because another benefit of that would be a better CPU and ram support (mine currently says max memory is 1 gig on crucial, but i looked up the serial and says it supports 2) I do want a faster and stronger rig but dont know if all my components would matche up with a new board.

What would i need to look for in terms of choosing either of these options. My case apparently supports uATX (micro).

Thanks

A:Upgrade board or new video card?

Depends on your cash situation. Sounds like your PC is a bit old so a refresh would be in order. Particularly if you have a nice TV, you are probably going to want to use the PC for gaming/media.

If you just put 98 in and haven't loaded the drivers for your motherboard, that is the problem. If you have the disks for the MB, install the drivers using it. If you don't you're going to have to locate the drivers for the MB. First try the PCs manufacturer's web site. If the PC is not a real antique, they should have everything you need.

This board when using sata hard drive do enable raid
I'd like to know in simple terms please. I've set it up with 64mb shared video ram.

A:Specs on on-board video card

What exactly do you wish you know about it?

Here's the specs on the chipset:
http://www.sis.com/products/sis661fx.htm
http://www.sis.com/products/sis661fx_features.htm
http://www.sis.com/products/sis661fx_benefits.htm

And since its based on the SiS315: http://www.xbitlabs.com/articles/video/display/sis315.html

SIS graphics are not even close to being in the same league as ATI and NVidia dedicated video cards. Even the older Radeon 8500/9xxxx or Geforce 3/4/FX series cards will outperform it in almost every game and without using 64MB of your system memory and at better quality.

Here's some benchmarks: http://www.xbitlabs.com/articles/chipsets/display/int-chipsets-roundup.html

My original setup included an onboard videocard which copes fine with XP cannot cope with Windows 7 - apart from at the lowest resolution. I am not a gamer but would like advice on upgrading my video card. If I install a new card will I need to disable the old onboard card? If so how do I do this. What type of new card would be suitable foe Windows 7 - bearing in mind that I'm not a gamer, but enjoy watching videos, jpeg files etc. Any other issues I should be aware of? Thanks for any advice!

My on board video adapter is non functional. I am trying to replace it with a PCI video adapter but the issue is that I cannot see the screen in order to gain access to the BIOS and disable the on board video adapter. Anyone have any other ideas other than replacing the motherboard?

I have confirmed that the video adapter is broken at the motherboard.

It is a Emachine desktop.

Thanks!

I need a litte bit of info here. I had a problem where I was getting horizontal red and green lines on my screen at times. I changed monitors and got the same problem. I sent my system in for repair. I was told that if a mother board had on video card that the motherboard its self would need to be replaced. The repair tech did a ReImage does that fix the issue? I am very concerned here. It has been a month messing with people to get it fixed. Was sent to Best Buy and they did nothing even though it was under warranty. Finally sent it directly to Gateway, and they ReImaged it. Just wondering if someone knows if this possible or did they just say they did something? Please respond. Thank you.

I now use 98SE and want to upgrade to XP Pro. I prefer to not format and reload my 160 GB drive, but I can.

The XP system analyzer says my video card is not compatible with my system board. Here are the specs for both:

VGA: XFX GeForce FX 5200 AGP8 with 256 DDR memory. AGP slot set to 8x.

SBoard: Chaintech CT-7NJL6. 1024 MB RAM installed. Bus at 166 MHz. Board is not overclocked.

Other:
WD 160 GB drive partitioned into 2 80 GB drives
Linksys 10/100 Ethernet adapter
Adaptech SCSI PCI adapter for my HP scanner.
HP DJ690 printer
MAG DX771fs 17" CRT.

Chaintech sells a clone of the XFX card and I find it hard to believe their card would not work with their system board!

What do I need to tweak?

Thanks

Kevin

I'm trying to troubleshoot this laptop for somebody, I don't have a lot of experience with laptops. I'm getting a lot of video lag when streaming movies on sites like Netflix. It runs fine at first but then it starts to bog down. The computer runs fine until I try and use the video card more then a tiny bit. This only happens when I'm streaming videos or trying to play any sort of game. I ran a memtest and a hardware benchmark and everything seems to check out. Is it possible that the on-board memory for the GPU has went bad? That's the only thing I could think of, how can I test it? Any advice would be appreciated, thanks.

It's an Asus u50f if that helps.

Edit: Before I get any replies I should note that I've done all the basic things I know how to do. I know the on-board video card is rubbish and can't be expected to play any high end games, I'm not trying to play Skyrim or anything. I can't even stream Netflix videos properly or anything that is even remotely a little bit stressful on the video card. Also the drivers are completely up to date. I should also let you know that the motherboard was recently replaced by Best Buy (where she bought the laptop). I'm not exactly sure what happened with it, I'm guessing it just burned up or something.

So I don't think it would... But if I have a DDR2 board with DDR2 RAM would it make my computer unstable to put a video card with DDR3 in it?

A:DDR3 video card on DDR2 board?

no.

Memory on the video card is for the GPU (graphics chip) to store the image data. It has nothing to do with your computer ram. Note: many of todays video cards have gDDR5.... how many DDR5 motherboards are out there? None.

Issue with video card you should be concerned with is power supply and abilties to play the games you want to play.

seriously be honest, the price difference between different companies' video cards is incredible. is there really a difference in performance? for example, at newegg powercolor's radeon x800xt pci-e card is 685. however gigabyte's card is only 525. ive seen asus's card as much as 699. ati's runs around 550-600. does it really matter? if so what do u suggest be the board i chose? (in general, not necessarily for this specific card)

This is the motherboard: For use only on computer models equipped with an Intel Core i7-4702HQ processor, a graphics subsystem with discrete memory, and the Windows 8 Professional Standard system 765736-501 This one would also work: For use only on computer models equipped with an Intel Core i7-4722HQ processor, a graphics subsystem with discrete memory, and the Windows 8 Standard system 801521-501 HP does not have either part in stock.  You are not going to like the price but here is one on eBay shipped from China and it appears they will ship to Iran http://www.ebay.com/itm/For-HP-ENVY-15-Q-765736-501-Laptop-Motherboard-850M-4GB-i7-4702HQ-HM87-Test-... If this is "the Answer" please click "Accept as Solution" to help others find it.
