Files from windows to Android.

Q: Files from windows to Android.

I have not a new but maybe 10 month old Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 10 inch screen.
I have a 7 yr old asus windows 7 laptop, what I'm working with.
All I want to do is get some photos from old windows to my tablet.
Cable does not work, and I know it should.
I got a usb flash drive with the two sizes needed.
I got all I need on the flash drive and I can plug it into my tablet see the photos and files.
How do I download them to the tablet from usb drive?
Has to be way.
I did once get a transfer from just a cable connection and not sure how I did it because again not working now, laptop just about done for.
Best info I can give and damn too stupid for any intense tech hoops to run through.
Thanks for any help.

Preferred Solution: Files from windows to Android.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I recently made my annual Christmas e card with an embedded midi file, works great in IE but does not on my Kindle Fire. I know this is off-topic for this forum but I can't find help anywhere else. Does anyone know the code for embedded midi's that will play on a Kindle? I know my Kindle can play a midi because I downloaded one to test it. I just can't hear it in the webpage.

Any help at all is appreciated!

A:Embedded Midi Files Windows 7 vs Android Device

are you using the stock browser and is your ecard in flash? try boat browser or flashfox, also what OS version is the Kindle Fire?
EDIT: that is more of a question for your tablet over at XDA but I would probably just answer it there anyway.

Windows 10 Bug Causes Data Loss on Android When Copying Files with File Explorer

A bug in Windows 10 causes files copied from one location to another on a PC-connected Android device to vanish completely if the built-in file manager File Explorer is used for the operation.

The issue affects only files that are being moved or copied from an Android folder or storage device to another location on the same Android phone or tablet using an MTP or PTP USB connection, and doesn?t seem to impact copying data on a Windows 10 PC.

So basically, if you connect an Android device to a Windows 10 PC and try to move files with File Explorer from the phone to an SD card or vice-versa, this will result in your data vanishing completely. The transfer appears to be working, but the files do not end up being moved to the destination folder, with no recovery possible for the time being.

The bug has already been confirmed on Windows 10, with both Windows 7 and Windows 8 working correctly. Also, several Android phones appear to be affected, including OnePlus and LG models, Google?s Nexus and Pixel, HTC U11, Nokia phones, and several Xiaomi and Sony models. On the other hand, Samsung?s and BlackBerry?s devices are working correctly, user reports indicate.

Just copy data to the PC and you?re safe
While Microsoft hasn?t yet acknowledged the bug, the easiest way to avoid any data loss is to create a backup that would allow you to restore files at any given time.

And since the issue ... Read more

...and then install them to my android? My desktop/laptop internet speed is much faster than my droid is..plus if I have my apps on my pc and something happens to the phone, I can get things up and running again really quickly. But NO, all of the sites I have visited require that my droid download the file and then install it from there.... I know this sounds like venting - part of it is. But my legit question is, is there some secret way to download app to my pc and then install them to my phone? Is there an app I can install on my pc that will let me do this? This is sooooo time consuming. In the "olden days" with the "really slow and inefficient" windows mobile, I could do a full reinstall on my pda in about 10 minutes, including restoring the data files. With this droid system I am afraid that it might take the better part of a morning...is this progress???

So recently i got my OnePlus3. And this is my first device which don't have any external SD Card.
I love to flash new roms and to do new experiments on my device.
But the main problem with internal storage is that if you got brick you have to format internal storage and loose all data.
I tried to search on xda but everyone seems to be using cloud options, but i cant use those. bandwidth issue.

So coming to the main point.
I need something that can sync all my files on androids internal storage with selected folder in windows whenever i connect my phone via usb.

Rite now the only solution i can think of is a script that can run Auto/Manually whenever i connect my phone in MTP mode
and compare all files between phones internal storage and folder in windows and copy missing/new files to the folder.

Or if there is already an app that can do this.

This is definitely a Windows 10 thing. If I connect either my Nexus 5 or my LG G4 to my PC via USB the phone is recognized. I can see it in Windows Explorer but clicking on it does nothing, no access to files.

Before I made the jump from Vista to Windows 10 it worked fine. There has to be some setting someplace. I did apply a hotfix (KB3099229_x64) which was supposed to fix the issue. It did not!

If there's some trick to it could you share it with me???

Thanks for you help way in advance!

A:Android device recognized but cannot access files on it

Are you sure you switched your phone to "File transfer" mode, as opposed to "Charging only" mode? Because this is exactly what happens when you connect an Android phone in "Charging only" mode: it becomes visible in Windows (e.g. in File Explorer), but shows as empty device - no file access.

In standard cookie-cutter Android Marshmallow you are supposed to manually switch the phone to "File transfer" mode every time you connect it to the computer. (Before Marshmallow it was possible to set a default mode, but for some reason they removed that capability in Marshmallow).

What am I doing wrong?

Much thanks in advance

Could it be a simple typo? The path should be typed with backslash \ instead of slash /, so the path should be H:\sdcard\folder instead of H:/sdcard/folder.

A:Does running an Android emulator bring Android-type security risks?

First of all, it's simply not true that Android has "lots of security flaws". Of course it's not immune to viruses and attackers, but it's not inherently that its an immense risk in it. There are vulnerabilities, but most problems actually came from using untrusted software that abuses the devise. As always, the number one vulnerability in any system is the user.

Now to business. There is no exact answer to that question. It will greatly depend on what emulator do you use and how it's exactly implemented, how does it manages to run Android software and how much does it emulated and how exactly. Frequently, I would expect a different implementation of the Android low level API, meaning that bugs in Android will never afect an emulator (which in turn can have its own bugs), unless some behavior is there "by design", in which case the emulator should attempt to copy it.
Besides, I would expect the emulator to isolate the host computer from malicious Android software (which is not generally aware of Windows existence). Unless an Android virus specifically targets a particular flaw of a particular version of a particular emulator (which as already happened with virtual machines), I won't worry too much about it.

The comes the problem of what programs do you install on the emulated Android. When you install a virus there, it will attempt to do the same malicious actions than it would do on a real phone. Some actions will work the same, for example those i... Read more

Russian anti-virus company Doctor Web has updated Dr.Web for Android and Dr.Web for Android Light to versions 9.01.5 and 9.00.0, respectively. The update improves the unlock algorithm for devices infected with locker ransomware and resolves known issues.

The unlock algorithm has been changed: the user should start charging the device, and then after five seconds, unplug the power cord and shake the device vigorously.

In addition, known defects have been corrected.

The updated anti-viruses are available on Google Play (Dr.Web for Android. Comprehensive protection, Dr.Web for Android. Life License and Dr.Web Anti-virus Light) as well as from Doctor Web's site.

The update will be downloaded and installed automatically. If automatic updates are disabled on the device, go to Google Play; choose Dr.Web Anti-virus, Dr.Web Anti-Virus Life license or Dr.Web for Android Light on the application list; and click "Update".

To perform an update via Doctor Web's site, download the updated distribution. If the option ?New application version? is enabled, a new version notification will be displayed when the virus databases are being updated. You can start the download directly from this dialogue box.

It's official: Android N will be called Android Nougat

After teasing the announcement earlier, Google has formally announced the name of Android N, which will be Nougat.

Google first released the Android N Developer Preview back in March, but the company didn't formally announce it until its Google I/O developer conference in May. The firm then asked for users to submit feedback on what the name should be.

Android Nougat is expected to ship within the next couple months, but it's worth noting that the current version of Android, Marshmallow, is only on 10.1% of Android devices. Nougat certainly has its work cut out for it if it wants to gain significant traction.

The company didn't reveal the version number for the next iteration of its mobile OS, but it has been leaked that it will be Android 7.0 Nougat.

Russian anti-virus company Doctor Web has released a free Dr.Web utility that decrypts files corrupted byAndroid.Locker.2.originransomware. Once an Android handheld is infected, the malicious program encrypts photos, documents, videos and other information stored on the SD card, locks the device's screen and demands a ransom to restore it to normal operation. To counter this threat, users of Dr.Web comprehensive protection software for Android can now request the utility from Doctor Web's technical support.

Discovered in May, the extortionist Android.Locker.2.origin poses extreme danger to user data. On an infected mobile device, the extortionist searches the available memory cards for files with the following extensions: .jpeg, .jpg, .png, .bmp, .gif, .pdf, .doc, .docx, .txt, .avi, .mkv, and .3gp. It encrypts the files and adds the extension .enc to the filenames. Then the mobile device's screen is locked, and a message is displayed that accuses the user of distributing adult content and demands a ransom to unlock the device. To enhance the effect, the extortionist can also add a photo of the user, made with the handheld's front camera, to the ransom demand message.

After thoroughly examining the ransomware, Doctor Web designed a special utility that will most likely decrypt files corrupted by the malicious application, making it unnecessary for users to pay a ransom.

The utility scans the available SD card for encrypted files and attempts to r... Read more

Google officially concludes Beta Program for Android Nougat; Android O Beta coming soon

Back in March 2016, Google released the "Android N" Developer Preview for a few supported devices. The aim of the program was to allow the company more time to incorporate developer feedback, and to submit the final version of the release to hardware manufacturers for early testing.

Google has now announced that the Android Nougat Beta Program is complete, and that a Beta for the next version of the operating system will be released soon.

Before the official release of Android 7.0 Nougat to the general public, five Developer Previews were seeded out to those willing to test early builds of the operating system on their devices. After the general rollout of the aforementioned iteration of Android, Google also released two versions of Android 7.1 to users in the Developer Preview.

However, now with "Android O" on the horizon, Google has concluded the Beta Program for Android Nougat, saying that:

Thank you for your interest in the Android Beta Program! The beta for Android Nougat has concluded, and all devices that were opted in have been updated to the current public version. If you are still running a beta version of Nougat you may download the latest full OTA image for your device and sideload it. This will not wipe your device. We'll update this site when the Android O Beta Program begins.

This would make Windows 8 a more open system than what Apple's ios has and this would contribute to Windows 8 success against Apple's ios as Windows 8 would then have more appeal in the masses. What's your viewpoint?

I need to download an OEM USB Driver so that I can enable USB debugging on my Android Device. Please point me to the correct driver as I have had no luck locating any pertinent information about it.
I have an XPS 13 9343.

A:Android USB Driver for Windows 10

That would have to come from the manufacturer of whatever device you're using.

Got Windows 8 last week and love it after saying for so long that i would not buy it but after looking at the App store could it grow in time to as big as Android?

Shame that there is not the Real BBC News App but am pleased so far with all the Apps that Windows 8 have.

A:Windows Apps could they be as many as Android?

I think it will grow considerably in near future. Ms has just released help for programmers for Apps and future windows will relay on Apps more and more with "unified" OS that will allow same Apps to work same on different devices. Those are only plans for now. When in next iteration of Windows comes and maybe even before, plans are for Apps to be able to have resizable windows and true multitasking, only than we'll see some really useful Apps from the store and even independent ones. To tell you frankly I didn't find any really useful App yet, at least as not as good as tons of free desktop programs of same genres.

My 8GB SD Card can't mount when I insert it on my Lenovo A536, when it boots it just says "Damaged SD Card - SD card is damaged. Try reformatting" but when I click "format sd card" it does nothing and when I plugged in on my Windows 7 Laptop it doesn't read. USB Storage does nothing. Help!

A:I can't fix my SD Card on Android and on Windows 7

In the PH I found a lot of SD cards are defective they break after a few days of use, MyPhone and Cherry Mobile cell phones are good at destroying SD cards also... Best to check and see if your cell phone will recognise a different SD card and also make sure your laptop can just to remove the possibility that the problem is with the device rather than the card...

Sometimes if you blow in the slot of your laptop where the SD card inserts into it will read, also try a different adapter the TDK one's seem to be about the best another trick is to quickly insert and eject it a few times... If your lucky it will read and you might be able to copy your data over but mostly you will not be able to but at least if the laptop can see it then in most cases it will format and work again... If none of the above works then it's defective SD card...

Seven times out of ten though by trying all of that I can normally get them to function again and I tell the owner not to allow people to borrow the SD card again and plug it into their virus ridden dodgy cell phones...

I'm not sure when this problem started happening, but recently, when I plug in or unplug the power of my Galaxy S4, the computer will wake from sleep. I'm running CyanogenMod 11 on it, which is based on Android 4.4.2. I haven't installed or configured any apps on my PC to allow for this, nor any apps on the phone.

Anyone know why this is happening and how I can stop it?

A:Android Wakes Windows 8.1

Hi there. So far as I know any input to a sleeping system will wake it. Sometimes I forget to unplug my Windows phone before sleep so it wakes the system up when unplugging. This was not always true for you?

Hi All,
Plugged in my Galaxy Ace into one of my USB ports, got the device plugged in sound, system checked for Android drivers and installed latest windows 7 ones however, I cannot see the phone in either my C/Hard Disk Drives or C/Devices with Removable storage.
Is there something I should be doing? I am cooking with Windows 7 32bit Ultimate.
Your guidance would be appreciated, thanks.

Hello fellow techies.

I keep wondering, is it possible to install Windows 8, 8.1 or 10 Preview even on an Android Stick? I'm talking about the Iconbit Toucan Stick 3D Pro.

I believe it has an A8 ARM Cortex dual core 1.0GHz processor and 1GB of RAM.

Also about 4 gigs of onboard memory.

Does Ubuntu even work on this thing?

Regards!

A:Install Windows 8 on an Android Stick

MS is promising to deliver a simplified version of Win 10 for the ARM processor in the new Raspberry Pi. Other than that there is Win 8.x RT which supports ARM processors but not sure if it supports the one in your device.

Greatings,

I have:
a desktop computer with Vistaan android tablet (acer iconia 710)
I would like my tablet to be able to connect to the shared files on the desktop computer.

I therefore downloaded ES File Explorer on my tablet as in this link:

How to Access Shared Windows Folders On Android Over WiFi

But the procedure doesn't work. I wonder if the problem is due to the fact that I use Vista instead of Seven.

"Error: impossible to find the server"

Thank you for your help.

A:Joininig together Windows Vista and Android

Have you checked that the IP address used is correct? An IPCONFIG in the command prompt can verify this. Equally, have you ensured that the everyone permission is applied to the share and that password protected sharing is turned off since it can cause incompatibility issues since your phone cannot be a part of a WORKGROUP.

Hope This Helps,
Josh

Hi I have a very strange problem.Only our Apple devices will connect to our wifi.First let me explain our internet connection.
We have and pay for Internet through RCN cable However my husbands workplace gave him a juniper ssg5 router to connect to our modem so he can work from home a few days a week. He has a Cisco IP phone and laptop running windows 7 configured to connect directly to work via VPN. They also provided a second wireless net WPA for our family to use.

Here's the problem. As of yesterday none of our devices running Windows or Android will connect to the WPA network..Our Apple iPads and iPhone have no problem. We have two HP laptops one running Vista one running 8 and two Lg android phones. The problem seems to have started when I installed Firefox on my laptop running Vista then downloaded and started to install the Firefox app to my android phone.. Could that be the problem.? Then why would it effect my daughters phone and laptop also?

Oh btw hubby is Ocd about his network so although his juniper has two ports we should be able to use I don't see that happening until Friday after work he said he would call tech support then
Thanks for any insight you can give me
