How I can improve my Tecra M7?

Q: How I can improve my Tecra M7?

I have Toshiba Tecra M7-132

I would like to improve everything possible

I want to increase the amount of RAM in my laptop but I do not know does my laptop can handle the memory faster than DDR2 533. I have Windows XP Tablet 32bit, I know it will handle only about 3.5 GB of RAM but it's better than 3 GB

I also want to change the hard drive. My current drive is HTS541080G9SA00 Hitachi, 80 GB, 5400 rpm SATA . Will it run with a bigger hard drive with speed 7200 rpm?

I installed all the most recent official drivers and BIOS

What else I can improve

Preferred Solution: How I can improve my Tecra M7?

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

A: How I can improve my Tecra M7?

According the specifications of Tecra M7-132 on Toshiba page it supports up to 4GB RAM but all 32bit OS support only up to 3.2GB RAM and for Windows XP 2GB is more than enough because it doesn?t need much RAM capacity.
The specification for RAM is DDR2-667.

Regarding the HDD: Larger HDDs are no problem because there is no capacity limit on SATA interface. That means you can also install 500GB HDD or larger. Only important is that you buy a 2.5? HDD with SATA interface.
Also 7200rpm shouldn?t be a problem but they creating more heat and need more battery power. Usually 5400rpm are enough and quieter.

A HDD will max the score at 5.9. Only way to improve is to change drive to a SSD. I have the same "problem".

I possess a tecra A10 complete with Windows Vista Business installed (and backed up to an image file using Easeus Todo backup

However I also have access to a Tecra M10 which came with no operating system, although the COA sticker (product key) is likewise for a windows Vista Business.

My question is: would my Windows Vista Business back up from the A10 work on the M10 (ie would it load onto the M10 hard drive and then work properly

If anyone can advise on this matter I would be appreciative please

Best wishes

A:Can I use Tecra A10 OS disk to install OS on Tecra M10?

At first I must say that Toshiba recovery image is created for each notebook model separately and it is 100% created to work on specific model. Why?
Every notebook model has different hardware platform and all drivers, tools and utilities for certain model are part of recovery image. These recovery images are also tested.

Generally speaking if both models have identical hardware platform (hardware parts) it can be used.

Dear forum
The above says it all really.

I see the two look similar, but one is smaller. Are these two models different in other ways please.

A:Difference between Tecra A10 and Tecra M10

Of course the both notebooks are different.
There are different Tecra A10 models and there are different Tecra M10 units.

For example:
Tecra *A10-13B* supports an Intel Core 2 Duo P8400 2,26 GHz CPU and Intel GM45 chipset.

Tecra *A10-1D2* supports an Intel Core 2 Duo T9600 2.80Ghz CPU and Intel GM45 chipset

You can find details about different discontinued notebook models here:
Then you can compare all the hardware parts.

16 GB of RAM is overkill for most people. It might not be overkill for you depending on your intentions and how much you might save if you dropped back to 8 GB.

A:How to improve FPS

Well lets see, you are using a single core, thats your main problem. a single core is good for light to mid games or older ones, but a single core even tho ok is not great. You need at least a dual core , a powerful one.

Your video card is alright, i had a 4670 with my what i am back using now a intel e3300 and it ran games great at high settings. You just need a better CPU thats all. Oh and your fram is fine, i have 2.5gb of ram myself and games work perfect.

 hey guys thanks for the help in advance. Well here is my situation, my father as a gift to me for leaving for college bought me a computer. He bought a nice one my 19' screen rocks but do you guys see anypoint in me updating my ram, do i need it? should i say screw it and upgrade my video card. All i play right now is Counter Strike v1.6 so I do not think I need the graphics boost but maybe

Intel Pentium 4 2.8 GHz
512 MB of RAM
Radeon x300
80 GB mem

PS - I know this sounds really noobish but I know how to make a computer run clean cause I had a really crappy one for as long as I can remember and I do not know how good I can make my new one or how much money I should drop on it, THANKS

A:Do i need more ram, what else do i need to improve on?

If your not going to be playing the new games like Battlefield 2 and all of that there is really no point in upgrading everything. Pretty much if you need it to do schoolwork and fooling around on every once and a while it should be fine. If you feel there is a need to go and buy more RAM or a better graphics card etc. you can go and get it but right now it should be fine with what you want.

No you bought a very low-performing computer. The processor is soldered to the motherboard and cannot be replaced or upgraded.  If we had the model number we can tell how easy it might be to upgrade the memory and perhaps install a solid state drive, which are about your only options to make it perform better.

Hi! I play games on a computer that's a mix of parts obtained on sale, or from other people upgrading their PCs, so it's maybe an odd budget thing:
ASUS Z97-A socket 1150
Pentium G3258 @ 3.20GHz
Pny Nvidia GeForce GT 730 1gb
8 gb ram
500w PSU in case it matters
What is my weakest link?

It runs older things like a champ, but I've been thinking of trying to play newer games (even on low or medium settings).

What should I replace to improve performance the most? I'm not sure if it's my old graphics card or the processor that's worse.

With the age of both things, maybe there's something from the last year or two that's budget priced but would be a major improvement? Any suggestions for both a CPU and graphics card?

I have a linksys router in the other room... my internet goes on and off. Is there anything that I can do to tweak it up a little without having to pay?

And also.. whenever my wireless goes down I usually have to restart my laptop to get it connected again.

A:How can I improve this..?

Hi Kris,

If you open up Device Manager is there any devices with a yellow exclaimation mark next to them?

Is so then try removing/uninstalling the device, rebooting then Windows will re-install the drivers.

If not then you might want to re-boot your router.

Normally to reboot just switch the machine off, locate a small hole and press a pen into it for 5-10 seconds then power on the machine. For more information please consult your router documentation.

If your ISP has sent update data to the router it can cause connectivity issues that would seem to be caused by your computer/laptop and normally a re-boot fixes these isues

Hi guys,

Has any of you had experience with the following and it there an explaination, or better, a way to solve it? Some days ago I completed building my new NAS server. Now, I have what seems to be a very slow file sharing performance that I wish to improve.

Locally, if I log on, I can copy/past a 1.5Gbyte file in the same directory and reach 40Mbyte/s full duplex (40Mbyte read, 40Mbyte write). Nice.
If I download the same file using HTTP I reach a download speed of 35Mbyte/s. Nice.
If I copy the same file to my client's harddisk using windows file sharing I reach a speed of 30Mbyte/s (some overhead, ok, but still nice for a NAS).
If I run iPerf from the client to the server and put it in duplex mode it performs 30-35Mbyte in both directions simultaneously.
If I run NetCPS from the client to the server it performs 30-40Mbyte/s.
Now, if I copy/paste the same 1.5Gbyte file in the same directory, but from the client, and I do in on a network disk (net use Z: \\\data), I reach a performance of only 12-14Mbyte/s. Not nice. :dead:

Server and client are crosscabled using a Cat5e crosscable (properly wired for gigabit). Server uses a Supermicro PDSME motherboard, onboard Intel(R) PRO/1000 PM, 1Gbyte memory, Areca 1120 array controller in raid5 using four seagate barracuda 250Gb disks @ 7200. Hi huggie, there's not much more you can do. Beware of download accelerators, etc; they're of dubious benefit. You'll be better off keeping your system free of any spy/ad ware applications. Spybot and AdAware are excellent:

A pop-up add blocker may be of use since downloading those banners and stuff takes up lots of bandwith:

Also, make sure you have a firewall. ZoneAlarm and Sygate are good options.

I had been using a XFX HD 5870 1GB GDDR5 Dual DVI HDMI DP Out PCI-E for over a year 13 months to be exact and it died. I was not insured luckily the retailer I bought it from agreed to repair or replace it.

It was completely dead and they no longer stocked the original card, I opted for a Gainward GTX 570 Phantom 1280MB GDDR5 Dual DVI HDMI DisplayPort PCI-E with insurance as I didn't want to spend a great deal of money on a 580/680. As I'm in and out of hospital at the moment and therefore unable to work.

I'm in the mood for upgrading my computer a little nothing major I'd like to keep my CPU and mobo unless it would offer a significant improvement. Would there be away of improving my current system? Buying a second graphics card, more RAM, adding a sound card or even overclocking?

I use this machine mostly for games and my media playback (Blu-rays etc) If you don't think I need to that's fine but I'm open to all suggestions. Please let me know what you think.

OS: Windows 7 64 Ultimate
CPU: Intel Core i7 950 3.06GHz Socket 1366 8MB Cache
MOBO: Gigabyte GA-X58A-UD3R Intel X58 Socket 1366 8 Channel Audio
RAM: Corsair Vengeance 12GB (3x4GB) DDR3 1600Mhz Non-ECC Unbuffered
GFX: Gainward GTX 570 Phantom 1280MB GDDR5 x 1

Case: Antec Dark Fleet DF-85 Case
PSU: Antec Truepower Quattro 1200W

A:How Would You Improve My Setup?

You have a very nice rig currently. I might consider your CPU cooling. Have you considered the great Corsair H100 and adding 4 premium fans in push pull?

Then of course adding an additional GPU would be killer but I might suggest going in stages buy enhancing the CPU cooling and investigating a modest overclock. Then look into a nice SLi set up.

Okay, so I have my self this setup:

Gateway NV7802u 17" Notebook
Intel Core2 Duo T6600 2.2Ghz
4Gb DDR3 Memory
Intel Chipset4 GMA4500MHD
Windows 7 Home Premium

Not too shabby for my first laptop, given as a gift.
Now, the part that is not too great is the video card, and I'm trying to explore my options into expanding my gaming potential. I don't think the card is as terrible as some people think, as it runs most games before '07 really well, including World in Conflict, but it isn't a powerhouse. So here are a few options I've compiled.
1. ViDock 2 External Video Card Adapter-http://harmonicinversion.com/index.php?page=shop.product_details&flypage=shop.flypage&product_id=162&category_id=4&vmcchk=1&option=com_virtuemart&Itemid=21
A *little* over my budget at the moment But seems to be a very safe way to go. I'm pretty sure it's compatible with my system. The PCI slot it goes into is just over the width of a thumb, correct? Anything about this?
2. I have been told there is a way to solder on a more advanced video card to the mobo-this is very risky, and without the proper heat disipation could fry my laptop even if put on correctly. Any comments or idea towards this path?
3. Going into the BIOS and directing more of the Memory to be used by the Intel card. Would this actually help make the game performance better at all? Specifically Empire: Total War, which runs at about 20 fps on average at Ultra unit size and ... Read more

I just wanted some advice on what to replace or add to my PC to my RIG such as liquid cooling or heatsinks or other CPUs i can get or even GPUs because i have some money id like to use on it and the C70 case is quite spacious and id like to make it better but i really dont know what else to get-- or ahould i get a new monitor?

A:Need a few suggestions to improve this rig.

It is really up to you as to what to get; but it also depends on specifically what you are looking for. For cooling; I just use my case supplied fans and cpu fan instead of any liquid cooling. For heatsink; i would just stick with the one that came with the cpu since it probably was meant specifically for that cpu. For other option you could also put in a second hard drive and use it as extra storage. You could also get a blu ray writer/player. There are too many options to list but hopefully this gives you a idea.

Hey I was wondering, how do you make good looking graphics on a video game. Is it in the poly count, or does it depend on the quality of the textures that you use, or does the way you use lighting make the biggest impact? I mean you see several games come out at about the same time, and one game might look fantastic (like crysis 2 for example) and another might look just OK or really bad considering the standard. What exactly makes the graphics look so good?

I am doing a write-up on how to improve your computers performance. I know there are a lot of these treads out there but I would like to tell everyone the programs I use, how they help, and why these programs are the best tools for the job.
I was getting tired of looking around for "good" programs, when all I found was junk. So, once I found good programs I decided to write something up to help the advanced computer guru's (hopefully) as well as the people who don't know a lot about computers, and wonder to themselves 'why does my computer lag so much' and 'where has all my room gone on my comp?'Some stuff written will be very 'beginners' stuff and others (hopefully) won't be.

First things first...
Go To...Start...Programs...Accessories....System Tools...Disk Cleanup....clean up all your files and get some nice free mb's storage back. You will be surprised at how much Windows Temporary Files take up. Now...Go to explorer window...Go to home drive directory...Windows...Temp...Everything in that folder you see can be deleted, as complicated as some of the stuff looks there it is useless and taking up space. Delete it all, you can, and there will be no harm to your computer.
Next...Go to Control Panel...Add/Remove Programs...Tab across to Add/Remove Windows Components (it should think for a bit before the next window comes up)...Go through each category and their details, and unclick the ones you KNOW you DONT use.... Read more

I have 64 RAM, of which 56RAM is available for the internet (as I understand it.) (I have 6.4GB hard drive of which about 4.8GB is free space. While I spend some time on the computer every day, either putting documents in Works 6.0, reading and writing emails, and looking at some favorite websites, and doing some research online, I expect I am still a light user. I'm not having any problems with my computer or doing my "thing" on it, though sometimes it downloads quite slowly. The PC pitstop site, which has received so much attention on the Tips forum, tells me that if I increase RAM to 128 or 256, I will experience immediately improved performance. Even though I am not really experiencing problems, still I am interested in the prospect of improved performance, particularly faster downloads. (I could always use more time to waste.)

I am wondering if I light user like me will experience that improvement or maybe it's something that will only happen to a heavier user.

So i need someone who is very educated and can suggest extra parts to improve my pc's general performance, boot time, load times, faster rendering times for videos and ofc fps on games...
Currently i have:

This pc is not custom built and is manufactured by ZOOSTORM
CPU: i7 4790 (non k) not overclocked and cant be overclocked, its running at 3.60GHz
RAM: 16GB of DDR3 1600 MHz
HDD: 3TB Western Digital Green (no ssd and i get 100% disk usage so i think i need a new one) :/
PSU: CX750M (Coil Whines when playing games)
I need to get something to speed up my boot time as it takes about a minute to load and load times are very long. Fps gets quite low at ultra 1080p from time to time. I want to SLI my gtx 970, so i need to get a motherboard that supports it. Any idea on what motherboard or if sli is a good idea. Also is it worth getting an SSD or new HDD? Another thing i keep thinking of doing is getting the k version of my cpu but do you think its worth that much just to have over clocking capability?
I would really appreciate help on what to do as my pc needs upgrading. Load times are awful fps on games like fallout 4 and others have spikes to 40fps when around alot of objects

A:Help with pc build. What would improve it?

The system looks good I would just use an SSD for OS/Programs. That's the best improvement you can make. And I wouldn't bother with a different motherboard. It's not going to effect performance, IMO.

Just get an SSD.. 200Gb or more.

My cousin used bitdefender back in 2009 i was a newbie that time
i scanned his laptop found many viruses but to my surprise bitdefender was unable to remove it !!
that was the first removal case i had seen.

anyways after that i did not use it for long time

But after the total renewal of bitdefender in 2012 edition i used it and i was a bit satisfied
from that time onwards it just kept on improving and now so many vendors use Bitdefender engine

Now my question is i can understand that detection ratio can be improved with a active team and time but i cant understand what technology did bitdefender introduced that it is now so good not only in removal but allover and why so many vendors use bitdefender engine ? is it because of the detecion rate or there are other reasons to behind it ?

A:How did Bitdefender improve so much !?

Detection rate is high and good. And they are one of the very few vendors that allow its engine to be used by others. If for example ESET would allow its engine and signatures to be used by others, many will use it. ESET's engine is better and lighter than BitDefender's.

This will test your existing system. Download the free edition build 1.3.0 (the third one down the page) the post back the results. Have you tried reducing the resolution?

Please add what RAM you have.

I have a 2.4 mhz pentium 4 with 60gb hdd (5400 rpm) and 1 ggi Ram running XP SP2. Starting programs like Quickbooks, Quicken, Office 2007, and even Firefox browser usually take from 45 sec to over 1 1/2 min. About 577mg of ram is free, and 26 gb of hdd free.
Please advise on whether changing hd to a 7200 rpm or adding more ram might help this.
Or, is it time to move to a dual processor PC.
I have defragged, paired down startup list, disabled or set to manual un-need services, and checked for virus and spyware, and I think I'm clean there.
Sending Hijack log if someone can see something else.
Thanks for the help.

A:Can I improve performance?

All that anti-spyware stuff continually running in the background is going to bog down just about any but the speediest computers. I have nothing continually running in the background, except for the antivirus program. I manually start and run a scan with my anti-spyware programs about once a week.

None of these startup apps need to automatically load and run:

Adobe Reader Speed Launcher

(Are you REALLY using the Groove app in Office 2007?)

QuickBooks Delivery Agent

I have hp laptop  pavilin - au620tx  this is very good product, this laptop start in more time to other pc how to solve this problem. I have update all item of this laptop and take suport on www.hp.com but this is not work proper manner.

A:improve speed

How old is your computer? The first week that a brand-new Windows 10 computer is connected to the Internet, it can be quite busy, running Windows Update in the background. From: https://support.hp.com/in-en/document/c05306751your computer's specifications are: CPU: Intel® Core? i5-7200U (2.5 GHz, up to 3.1 GHz, 3 MB cache, 2 cores)Memory: 8 GB DDR4-2133 SDRAM (1 x 8 GB)Video graphics: NVIDIA® GeForce® 940MX (2 GB DDR3 dedicated)Hard drive: 1 TB 5400 rpm SATA Have you recently run the "Disk Defragmenter"?Windows does schedule this task for once a week, so it may have been done without telling you. The only way to speed-up your computer is to replace the 5400-RPM disk-drive by a 7200-RPM disk-drive, or by a SSD ("Solid State Disk") device, for faster Input/Output. Measure, measure, measure. Use the Windows "Task Manager" to list the tasks that are running, and to see if any tasks are consuming too much CPU.

i have a really quick question. my monitor displays things too dark so what i was wondering is... i see these adobe color profiles here. I remember on my old PC i was able to change things up and it would display better. i know a long term solution would be to buy a new monitor, but right now i don’t have the money. Is there software that i can download that will help me with this or does anyone know how to change my color? Note: i changed it on the monitor's settings already

Now firstly, im completly and utterly hardware illiterate just so you know

So anyhoo I have £150 to improve either: my graphics card, Memory or Hard drive. My main aim is to improve the lag I experience when playing games, recently being BF2.

Currently I have:
Graphics card - ATI Raedon X600
Hard Drive - 71.4GB with 14.5GB space left
Memory: 1024mb RAM
And I have windows XP

So improving which one would make the most difference considering my budget, and what should I replace it with?

Can anyone recommend a good solution to get better sound on my Dell Latitude laptop with Windows 10? I mainly listen to music online - YouTube, radio sites, etc... I don't want to go out and buy new speakers so I'm thinking the next best option is an equalizer.

A:Looking to improve PC sound

Hi, if you don't want a good pair of speakers, then the next best is headphones.

Personally I wouldn't insult my ears by listening other than briefly to tiny laptop speakers - perhaps yours has better ones.

That said, Winamp includes an equaliser.

Someone recently suggested this:
Peace, GUI for Equalizer APO download | SourceForge.net
but it was an absolute pain to uninstall.

Realtek - if you use that- can provide sound enhancements and an equaliser.
Then there's SoundBlaster (Cinema) which is designed to compensate for rubbish sound quality on laptops.

One question, will SSD improve overall PC performance? For example, like antivirus scanning or installs faster than usual? Thanks.

A:Will SSD Improve Overall PC Performance?

Faster boots, faster shut downs, faster game launches, faster AV scans, faster everything. Today at work, I cleaned up a bunch of email and then compacted my PST. Usually it takes 30+ minutes of my hard drive crunching away. On my SSD, done in less than 2 minutes.

Firstly just want to say I wasn't 100% positive as to where i should put this thread, so i just went with forum. If this thread best fits somewhere else, move it please

i basically just want to improve my computer. i bought it a few weeks ago from a friend for 75$ because.. well, that's really cheap and he had told me it was a lot better than it turned out to be.

Turns out it used to be used as a printer sever for some business and it came with 215MB of RAM (very bad, has two slots for RAM, i switched the RAM out and now I have 512MB). It's running on Windows XP Pro SP2

Here's the specs.

Dell Computer Corp.
Celeron(R) CPU 2.20GHz
2.19 GHz, 512MB of RAM.

I just bought some ram (1gb) and it's coming soon (i was being lazy, bought it off the internet.) and now I'm just looking for other ways to fix up this old piece of junk. I was talking to a friend, and he said he didn't know much, only that I probably didn't have many options to enhance it's performance.
So yeah, I don't know really what else to do except put more RAM into it and I'm buying a new monitor soon..
If anyone has some tips, suggestions, etc; whatever I would appreciate it.

Thanks a ton
