I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi, my original Lenovo, Japan cell, 9-cell battery shows these data in linux upower utility:- 86% of designed capacity- 63% chargedIt was holding my computer 2-3 hours normally. Computer is bazar refurbished, probably new piece, never used, stored in a warehouse in a big company. Now X200 battery led started to blink orange, and batterry gives no power, voltage measured 0.02V. I tried also charging via X200 dock only, nothing happens. So I suspect this is internal battery electronics causing this. I have three 65W chargers, 2 docks. I found a video of some guy overriding internal electronics by short voltage pulse to the output terminal, but I don't want to dissasemble the battery. Questions:1. How can a utility in linux tell charge data, when battery is measured ~0V? Is there any background communication and data is taken from some system bus?2. Is there any power cycle limiting, how to get these data?3. Battery showed good health periodically during usage, even now @ 86% of designed capacity, this seems like early cutoff?4. What exactly does that orange led mean, how to get additional data?5. Why should a battery with good health, not over discharged, stop working? Thanks to everybody.

Hi, It started with me having to send in the x200 for repair of all USB ports. (All USB ports on docking station worked well, but the ones on the laptop did not function at all.) Received it back from repair and now the laptop does not charge at all..? It senses the AC connection and stays awake at 0% as long as I stay plugged in, but it does not charge battery at all. Not in docking station and not outside of it. I have tried taking out the battery a couple of times. No change. Also tried changing profile in power manager. Not change. Suggestion anyone? Thanks!

Hi and welcome to the forum!

Did you also send the battery with your ThinkPad for repair? Is your battery under 1 year warranty starting from the time of purchase?

You can try battery reset, to do so, launch ThinkVantage Power Manager -> Switch to Advanced mode -> Battery -> Maintenance -> Perform reset.

Keep us posted.

My X200 was recently working fine, no hints of any coming problems. However, I recently returned home and was disappointed to find my laptop will not turn on anymore. When plugged in, no charging/battery indicator lights come on, and the power button elicits no response no matter how hard/repeatedly pressed. Does this sound like my power source is shot? Is it repairable? I will be replacing the power cord to ensure it's not that, however I doubt that's the problem as I should have had some battery charge to use even if the cord was faulty.

I have a satellite x200-s20. Owned since new, 2 and a half years old.
The laptop works perfectly, but, I'm not sure if I need a new battery, power supply or maybe there's a hardware problem (but I doubt this).

When connected to the mains power supply the following happpens:

It starts using the battery instead of the mains power supply.
The power and battery leds flash on and off (on for a couple of seconds then off for a couple of seconds).
The battery at this point stops charging.

In the manual it mentions something about one of the leds turning blue, None have ever done this.

Hope someone can advise
Thanks
Brin

A:Satellite x200 battery or PSU issues

Hi

In my opinion you should firstly check if the AC adaptor is not malfunction.
If the AC adaptor would not work correctly then the battery could not be charged and the battery led would not switch to blue because the battery would not be fully charged.

Therefore I would recommend checking the AC adaptor firstly?.
Of course this is only my personal opinion and I could be wrong too?

Hi,

I have a Satellite X200 for 2,5 years now and today my i just noticed my battery won't charge also the battery led is not on. I turned off the computer and opened it again and i noticed the battery led goes on for like 3 seconds then goes back off again.
Is this a vista problem, a battery problem or a motherboard problem?

Because with the AC on the laptop works just fine. Any ideas how to make sure if it a battery problem ?

Thanks

A:Satellite X200 - Battery won't charge

Hi blackmodjo,

What happens if you connect the AC/DC adapter while notebook is turned off? Will the battery be charged or not?

If not it seems to be a battery malfunction. It?s already 2.5 years old as you wrote and battery can only be charged up to 500 times. After this it needs replacing.

New battery shouldn?t be so expensive. Just ask an authorized service provider in your country and the guys will help you to get a new one.

Bought a new 5200 6 cell battery for my thinkpad 3 days ago. It's an unbranded battery. The instruction sheet advised to initially discharge battery to 2% then charge fully to 100% at the first cycle after purchase. It seemed alright at first but now discharges quickly and doesn't hold the full charge rating.

I may have caused a problem because I performed a battery reset using the thinkpad power manager, thinking this would fix it but, it has reduced the holding capacity and as can be seen from the jpeg, only holds 37Wh, yesterday it held 45Wh. (I assumed it would hold 52Wh ?)

I have no idea what the next step is to re fresh this new li-ion battery. Any ideas ?

A:new Thinkpad x200 battery already weak

Return the battery and buy a genuine battery. I've had very little with cheap batteries, there's some high quality third party batteries like Dr. Battery but many are poor quality and simply a gamble.

I have a Thinkpad x200 from 2009 that originally was loaded with Windows XP. I have not used it for a year because I got a newer Thinkpad. I went back and have loaded Windows 8.1 on the machine but the battery does not seem to recharge. When plugged into wall power, the battery status is always 39% and "not charging" but the battery seems to be dead. Is there a way to tell if it is the battery, some system component that needs upgrading or a hardware issue? Or maybe some procedure to activate charging when the battery is dead. I did contact lenovo and they have no record of the model of X200 on file so there is no information available through them. Looking at the forums, it appears that the X200 (64-bit processor) should be able to run Windows 8.1. Any help would be appreciated.

I have the Satellite X200-25l running Vista Home Premium 32 - I have taken too long to ask about this but the battery simply will not charge. I have tried removing and plugging in the AC power multiple times as a "fix" that someone suggested, but this has had no effect.
I don't want to buy a new battery without first establishing that it's not an issue between the main system and the battery logic.

This has never been right from new but I didn't realise it would fail completely. Thanks Bobby in Aberdeen, UK

A:Satellite X200-25I - Battery won't charge

Hi bobbaxter09,

Have you already tried to charge the battery when the notebook is turned off? So you can make sure it?s not related to software or drivers.

The battery can be recharged up to 500 times and after this it needs replacing. So theoretically it could be a battery malfunction and you need a new one.

Therefore you can contact an authorized service provider in your country. The guys can order all original Toshiba spare parts they work properly with your notebook.

Basically, my laptop is suffering overheating problems because the fan needs to be cleaned. I decided to give it a go myself and unscrewed all the screws underneath etc, took out the battery and cd drive and removed the plastic panel covering the speakers that has the power button and other buttons on it.

Then I decided to check the Internet for a guide to how to get to the fan. In the end it seemed more complicated then I had thought and I gave up but I thought I might as well give the speakers a little clean as they were pretty dusty.

So I got out a cloth and a cotton bud with one end covered with Wd40 and started dusting away an cleaning. Then I put the panel back in place, put all the screws back in the underside of the laptop and returned the battery and plugged the power cable in. But... When I pushed the power button it wouldn't turn on!

The little lights that indicate the laptop is plugged in and the battery is in are lit up but nothing happens when I try and turn it on. Also I can't get the cd drive to stay in, it keeps sliding out! I would really apreciate some help here!!!!!

Btw the model is satellite x200-251

Hi

It looks like something went wrong during disassembling.
It?s really difficult to say what part could be affected? it sounds a little bit like the CPU would be affected? maybe it?s not connected properly? I would also recommend checking the RAM modules.

The memory modules should be inserted correctly? Check this?

Hello World.I have an old and very trusty X200 12" laptop. I just recieved my new battery, but same problem... Any clues? Yours Esben Taersker

A:Lenovo X200 laptop gets warm when battery is inserted

Does this happen only when the AC adapter is plugged in and it could be charging?    Batteries do get warm, but they laptop's cooling should keep them from being uncomfortable.    I would check the air circulation vents, and use some canned air and a vacuum to ensure they they are not blocked as the first step.

Almost 2 years old.
Yesterday it didn't want to turn on, and then I took out the battery and try without it and then turned on and everything is ok.

So,
1. with battery (with or without ac power) won't turn on
2. without battery (of course, with ac power) turn on

The problem is evidently in the battery. I want to buy a new one, but how can I be sure that the battery is really dead?

How much battery life can I save by disabling Wi-fi? I don't have just a switch on the side of the laptop that I can turn off/on. By disabling it, I would go into Network Connections and right click on my wireless connection and disable it there? Would that save any battery life?

Hi,

The battery is fine, it's new. How can I fix this?

A:Laptop will not turn on with battery

It could be that the Charger can no longer handle chrging the battery and running the laptop at the same time. But how have you confirmed that the battery is good? Just because it is only 2 months old? Or has it been tested in another compatible laptop to confirm this. Also did you buy this battery from Sony or some where else?

The hardware manual here do offer power checkout guide (page 21-22) to help isolate the ac charger but since it can charge the battery from purple to white, then internal parts should be checked further.

I tried hard reset (pressing power button 30 sec) and it didn't help. Any advice? Thanks in advance

It is such a pity to see my new notebook like this as the rear camera works excellently and there are folders stored on the 500GB hard drive. Sending my notebook for battery replacement is not an option as there are confidential files on both drives. Could you help?

Last week the fuses in my bedroom suddenly blew. At the same time I heard a loud crack and the smell of burning and smoke. Nothing was on fire so I thought it was something in the wall. I checked the fuses, turned them all back on and everything was fine. I went back to my computer, finished with it and turned it to sleep mode. When I woke up the next day it wouldn't turn on again. Everytime I press the power button I see the light by the plug flash 3 times. I've looked this up and tried removing the battery, draining it of electricity... I've tried everything but I only get those 3 flashes. Have I maybe broken the charger and has my laptop drained of electricity? I can't think of anything else, but that the burning smell might have been from the charger. Can I check this somehow? Please help!!

Clean install Windows 10, all working except battery shows 99% permanently, whether plugged in or not.  Battery holds enough charge for about 4 hours work, but never know when it will switch itself off!  UEFI diags (latest version) don't have battery checker, but HP online check show it's fine and less than 2 years old. Previously, power options had v useful feature: turn on laptop when lid opened - that no longer available as I guess was feature of "HP Power Manager" software.

Hi all,
I'm new here and have a problem with my laptop...it wont turn on! When you plug the power lead into the laptop, the battery light is lit but when you try to turn the laptop on it goes off- there's also a small clicking sound each time I try to turn it on. I've tried running the laptop without the battery and still no success. Also if you leave the power lead in the battery light goes off within a minute...I'm absolutly stuck with what to try next- I've used compressed air etc to try and clean everything out...still nudda.

Any help much appreciated!

A:Laptop wont turn on- dead battery?

Sounds like a failed HardDrive (if it is you will need it replaced)

Just in case though:

Remove all power (battery and adaptor)
Hold down the power ON button for 30secs (dispersing all internal voltage)
Plug the power adaptor in only (for the moment)
Turn on

If it still doesn't work, I think the HardDrive has gone (ie clicking noise)

The kids let their laptop run all the way down, and now we can't get it to boot back up. It's been plugged in and the battery light is on, going from orange to white, but otherwise there's no sign of life at all. No noise, no screen flicker, etc.

I've read through posts describing similar problems and seen suggestions to remove the battery, but this unit doesn't have a removable battery. I've also seen various suggestions to hold down the power button while unplugged or try the Novo button, and have tried both with no luck.

Is there any other way to bring this brick back to life?

Hi smcindoe,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

I would encourage you calling in technical support for inwarranty repair.
The hardware manual here do offer power checkout guide (page 21-22) to help isolate the ac charger but since it can charge the battery from purple to white, then internal parts should be checked further.

I hope this helps you on how to proceed.
Update us how it goes best for you.

Regards
