Csabi. Contact HP and they should be able to send you a customized SMC.bin file which you can use at boot to reset the password. http://welcome.hp.com/country/w1/en/contact_us.html When talking to the HP rep ask to escalate your service request. Or download these files. https://www.dropbox.com/sh/zu4kdgxm052l87d/AAAMi-kfX4AVH8oTCbsOM4X9a?dl=0 Insert clean USB flash drive. Then run USB Image tool. Choose the flash drive then click on RESTORE. After restore remove flash drive. Insert flash drive into locked laptop and boot. ?If HDD is installed remove before booting.? At C:\OUTPUT type CD.. ?Then hit enter? Type HPBR ?Then hit enter? First thing is to save your settings. Select #3 re-program. Press ?S? to save system information. Type HPBR and hit enter. Select ?FIRST RUN? Then select model. After reboot repeat same as above but this time SELECT ?SECOND RUN? Some instructions here. ?If you cannot boot from USB there are instructions to make a bootable HDD.? http://mazzifsoftware.blogspot.com/2014/01/hp-bios??-unlock-for-dos.html More here. http://forums.mydigitallife.info/threads/49497-HP-??Probook-Elitebook-BIOS-Password-Reset-Utility REO I must inform you that these services are not endorsed by HP, and that HP is not responsible for any damage that may arise to your system by using these services. Hi,Skipped BIOS version F.61 rev.A which contained Intel Video BIOS update. After installing the latest BIOS version F.63 rev.A, the VBIOS version is still the same according to the HWINFO32 program. Is it possible to update the video BIOS separately, and how to do that? Yet I'm not sure if the VBIOS is worth updating. Any help? Thanks.Read other answers

I have dowloaded SP76205 multiple times. When I double click on the file, I receive an error message: "The system BIOS file (c:\SWSetup\SP76205\hpqflash\ROM.CAB) is missing or corrupt. The system BIOS will not be updated." Looking at the files in the listed path, I find two zipped files (68SCE and 68SCF). Exploring the zipped files, I find efibios.sig, Rom.bin, Rom.sig, ver.sig and ver (a text file) in each zipped file. My HP ProBook 6460b will not turn on. The last time it was used, it would lose power during start up, try to re-start itself, and then the same thing would happen again. After several unsuccessful attempts to start up, I let it sit for a while with the battery charging. Now, I can't get it to turn on at all. The front of the laptop, the lightning bolt symbol is illuminated while unplugged, and the light appears to be blinking
You'll have to call HP. There is a known problem with a bad BIOS RAM chip that causes this problem. I bought a batch of 7 of these notebooks and 2 out of 7 failed in the first two weeks.Read other 2 answers
Greetings. Someone just gave me this kind of laptop. And lately the battery is not charging even if its plugged on the outlet. And yesterday, I tried to unplugged everything including the battery and power cycled the laptop. Sad to say, the laptop did not turn on and the light indicator in front just blinked and nothing happens. What can I do for the laptop to work and power up? Please help me. Thank you!

Hi Recently, I started to have the following problem with my Probook 6460b. Often, when I plug AC adapter to it, it behaves like if adapter was not connected at all - the laptop is still powered by the battery, and the battery is slowly discharging. I replaced power cord, but it didn't help. Usually, the laptop finally switches to AC power and starts to charge the battery after plugging the AC adapter in and out a few times or after shaking the cable connecting adapter and laptop. This made me think that perhaps the AC adapter, or the cable connecting the adapter and notebook, is damaged, so I decided to try with another AC adapter. The AC adapter, which I've been using so far, is: HP Part Number: 608425-003 ("Replace with HP Spare: 609939-001")Output: 18.5V, 3.5A / 65W Another AC adapter, which I've got, is: HP Part Number: 677774-001 ("Replace with HP Spare: 693711-001")Output: 19.5V, 3.33A / 65W I'm bit afraid that, due to differences in voltage, the 677774-001 might damage my notebook, if I plug it in. So, I have two questions: Is it safe to plug the 677774-001 AC adapter to my Probook 6460B?Do you know if the problem, which I've described, might be caused by damaged charger, or does it indicate rather that the notebook is damaged? Many thanks in advance!
Hi, My calculation shows this is around 5% difference which is acceptable my concern is the tip and connector. Why not buy https://www.amazon.com/609939-001-Replacement-Notebook-Adapter-Charger/dp/B004MR9YOU Regards.Read other 2 answers

How do I disable the touchpad on my ProBook 6460b? I do a lot of wordprocessing, and having the cursor relocate whever I accidentally brush the touchpad is near crippling. I've googled, and checked through the forums here and elsewhere, and none of the recommendations I've found seem to apply. -there is no little white spot/button at the upper left corner to double tap. -When I go to Control Panel>Mouse, the touchpad is listed as "PS-2 compatible mouse" and there is no option I can find to disable it. Under Device Manager, I have the option to Uninstall the driver, but not to disable it. Also, somebody tell the HP hardware designers that having an easily identifiable switch, a hardware one preferably, to disable the touchpad is a HUUUUUUUGE plus. The lack of such presents a clear danger of making me never buy HP again.

Hi: Please do the following, and I will post the link to the wireless card driver you need. Go to the device manager, find the Other Devices category, and click on the Network Controller needing drivers. Then click on the Details tab at the top of the network controller window. Now you see a Property drop down list and it is defaulted to Device Description. Drop down on that and select the second item on the list (Hardware ID's). Post the top string of characters that begin with PCI\VEN.Read other 6 answers

Hello! I am now on Windows 10 64-bit Professional. I have installed the latest BIOS on my Probook 450 G1. The BIOS version is 01.31 Rev.A, released on 27 July 2015, size 9.8MB. Everything related the OS works fine, nothing is wrong. The problem is, when I go on Oracle VM VirtualBox, version 5.0.4, it doesn't give me 64-bit OS option and it says my CPU doesn't have the virtualization support on. But it is turned ON in BIOS settings. I didn't have this problem before I updated my BIOS. Is this a BIOS problem? Yes, Hyper-X features are enabled in Windows Features. Thanks in advance.
Since you installed the BIOS update, presumably from the HP drivers page, then I recommend you install the Chipset drivers, as well. Don't know if this will fix the virtualization problem, but it's worth a try.Read other 5 answers
