Solved: Could not start the RPC Server - Outlook wont start

Q: Solved: Could not start the RPC Server - Outlook wont start

I can't open my Microsoft Outlook - when I start it it states it wasn't shut
down properly and asks if I want to start it in safe mode. If I
select no I get a message "Could not start the RPC server' and then I
get a blank outlook screen. It doesn't work if I select to start in
safe mode either.

Any ideas? As non techie as possible.

Thanks
Dom

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi

We have IIS installed for SMTP email service on our windows server 2008 R2 SP1. I am unable to start the [SMTP Virtual Server #1], i get an error message

"The service has returned a service specific error code. Check the Windows Event Viewer for details"

When i checked the Event Viewer logs and i found the below error

"The service could not bind instance 1. The data is the error code."

When i googled about this error i found that the port 25 is being used by another application which is why my SMTP Virtaul server #1 doesn't start.

I did Telnet localhost 25 and i see the port is being used by hotmail. The below message when i did telnet

How do i disbale the smtp.hotmail to use the port 25 so that my SMTP Virtual server #1 can use port 25. Please help.

Thanks

A:Solved: SMTP Virtual server wont start

Hi

I figured out that SMTP Proxy service was using port 25 which was not allowing my SMTP Virtual Server #1 to start. I stopped the SMTP Proxy from services and my SMTP Virtaul server#1 in my IIS started working.

Excuted the command netstat --noa in commane line tool to check the PID of the application that is using the port 25.

From the TaskManager/ Services Tab i was able to figure out the application using the PID Coulmn. Stopping the SMTP Proxy i was able to turn on the SMTP in my IIS Server.

Thanks

Right click the Start button

At the bottom of the General tab for: Show on Start Menu click the drop down field for the E-mail field and select Outlook Express.
OK, OK to save and close.

Hi guys.

I am experiencing trouble with my server. There was an overnight power cut while the server was running.

I attempted to restart the server but there is no luck. A few things I have tried:

Disconnecting the hard disk and trying to boot the computer gives it power and the computer stays on, as opposed to when the hard disk is connected, the power of the machine comes on but immediately turns off (the LED's on the front panel blink very briefly.

It was running Windows Server 2000 and I am not sure what the next step is to take in restoring (if possible) the computer to its normal state.

Any help will be greatly appreciated and I thank you all for your assistance.

Considering there was a power interruption I would be looking at the power supply first. Try a new power supply.

As a question, do you ever see anything on the screen?

So I turn my computer off one day only to find it wont start the next day. I open the case up and see the led is on. I flip the switch on the power supply off then on and quickly press the power button. My computer starts but the following time I shut down the computer it again wont start and now the led is blinking. I've never had any issues like this before, any help would be appreciated.

I don't routinely use many usb devices, only my mouse and keyboard and every now and then my ipod. I figure the issue is likely either the power supply or the motherboard. The ps is almost two years old while the motherboard is only about three months old.

A:Computer wont start, power supply wont start, blinking led

It sounds to me like your PSU is the problem, get a hold of another and plug it to your computer and see if that will make it start, if it doesn't it might be BOTH your motherboard and PSU. A bad PSU will burn a motherboard.

Hi. I have a computer here which is a friends machine but it has a problem.

First some background:
He has had the machine about 3 years. It runs on windows ME, IE 6, everything patched up to the hilt, and its outlook which has the problem. He has been very security conciouse by using AVG, Zonealarm pro and cloudmark spam protection.

But he has upgraded to the zonelabs security suite and problems have started to occur. The main one is now that outlook just wont start up at all. it just hangs with the box in the center but if you ctr+alt+del it it doenst say it isnt responding. Other problems are that it sometimes doesnt shut down properly and just hangs. Another once only fault is that it brought up an error which was apparently with 'kernal.dll'

Hes sick of it and thrown it through my window with a note 'fix it' crudely writen on it so any help would be much appricated.

Hi, Last night I tried to upgrade a customers server with a Kingston 4gb memory card. On starting the server it would not even get into bios (monitor didnt get signal, fans running at 100). Removed the new card and server boots fine. I actually had two idenitical cards, one for another server and both cards produced the same fault. The card is a Kingston "KTH-PL316ES/4g" - the kingston website suggests it is compatible with the DL180 G6. I installed them to the second white slot nearest the processor (first white slot already occupied) Any ideas?

Today 11 Nov 2015, I received a host of updates. At least 10 of them were for Microsoft Office. I downloaded and installed, did the mandatory reboot everything seemed fine until I tried to open my outlook 2010. The start screen came up for a couple of seconds and then it shut down. There is no way I could get it to start. I ended doing a system restore, and that seems to have fixed the problem. Looks like MS have created a problem at least on my machine with the Office updates. Not sure if anyone here has experienced this.

I applied all updates to one Virtual Machine, one laptop and one desktop. Outlook 2010 on the desktop started, but crashed when I tried simple tasks. System Restore fixed the issue. Outlook 2010 on the laptop was/is fine. Go figure.

Do you want the following program to make changes to this computer:

This has been happening for a while.. I dont remember when it started, but it seems it began when the reading pane thing below started..

Problem 2:

The reading pane will -not- stay on the bottom of the sceen when Outlook starts up.. I change it time and again from side pane to bottom pane and it just doesnt stay bottom when Outlook is restarted..

Any ideas? No viruses, or malware/spyware on the machine.. MSE updates/runs full scan every night.

After only just having one problem solved on here I have encountered another and I think it is fairly problematic but am far from understanding it - please help!!!

I downloaded the new version of Internet Explorer (version 8) as this was an option when I signed onto the web this afternoon (I previously had IE 7 and am running Windows XP version 2).

But after downloading this I had trouble getting onto the net (though I seemed to be able to initially). So I restarted the PC. But, it did not restart.

Instead I get the following message on a plain black screen when I try to run my computer:

Windows could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt:
<Windows root>\system32\hal.dll.
Please re-install a copy of the above file.

What is this file? I have an Acer Aspire notebook which came installed with Windows XP Version 2 (I have no CD drive currently).

I have looked on the microsoft website (I am currently on a different PC) but dont understand anything that is posted on their about this problem.

Do I need to re-install a new operating system? Will this mean I will loose all my data that is on my computer? This is very precious to me as I am travelling and I have saved on my computer photos and diary entries - I would be very upset to loose them.

What is my best course of action? Should I take it to a specialist. Again I really hope I can prevent the information that I did have saved on there from being deleted.

Thankyou to anyone who can assist.

I posted this in the hardware section because i know its gotta be hardware related. On one of my older computers, which is a HP(bought in 2002), wont start at all. Not even the Compaq logo will display, which means BIOS wont start either. so i cant boot at all, or operate the computer in anyway. This happened right after i installed a gig of RAM, i was upgrading from 512 mb to 1 gig, they were 2 different cards, 512 each, and both had 189 pins. I installed them, booted up and nothing.

I really dint think there is a solution for this though, because after that, i put the 512 RAM back in and it still didnt work. Im thinking the motherboard was fried, by static electricity maybe. if thats the case than ill just get a new computer. which leads me to my next question.
How do i access my Harddrive? I have a lot of valuable data on there and an expensive music collection, as well as a bounch of backed up movies.
Any help is really appreciated guys, thanks in advance.

A:Solved: pc wont start up

If the machine starts up right away with the USB device removed then the most likely problem is the USB device is interferring with the POWER OK (POWER GOOD) signal from the power supply.

If the machine still takes a long time to start up with the USB device removed, then the problem is either the POWER OK (POWER GOOD) signal from the power supply is defective, or there is a problem with the +5V circuitry on the motherboard.

First off let me thank you all for this forum, it is excellent.

Short History: I recently had to replace my mobo, and since the old one was discontinued I had to upgrade. That process rendered my raid drives incompatible so I am basically starting from scratch with a whole new system. And so I also took the opportunity to upgrade from Win XP 64 to Windows 7 Ultimate 64.

Now I am going through the agonizing process of reinstalling all of my games and apps.

I have re-downloaded Civ 4 from my Direct-2-Drive account and ran the installer, no problems there. I then encountered problems with it not locating the msvcr71.dll and msvcp71.dll files.
I downloaded and purchased the registry booster 2010 software recommended by this site and it corrected those problems. (I dont mess with the registry myself, ever)

now when I try to launch the game i get the "application failed to start error: 0xc000007b" message.

I realize this indicates a hardware or driver conflict but I am not sure what, if anything, I can do about it.

After installing the new version of Win7 I made sure I updated my NVidia drivers, and my audio drivers before doing anything else. So I am sure that all my drivers are up to date, and my system is new and free of errors. I also downloaded and installed DirectX from the microsoft website, so I am certain that is up to date as well.

My question is: Is there any way to fix this problem? Civ 4 is one of my favorite games and I am saddened that it refuses t... Read more

Hi All

My niece brought her PC down to my house because she couldnt get World of Warcraft to play. She was getting the error that a suitable display device could not be found.

I found that her video card was showing a ? in the device driver. No one had a clue what video card she had and she didnt have the start up discs, driver discs or windows disc that came with the PC.

I opened it up to find a ATI Radeon card. After going to the Dell support website I found that it could be a 2400 or 2600 model. I downloaded the drivers for the 2600 and installed them. Rebooted the PC, started up World of Warcraft and all went fine.

She had no virus protection on the PC and no firewall. I downloaded Adaware and Avast Home!. Then rebooted the PC. Still no problems. I started a thorough scan with Avast and went downstairs to watch a movie figureing it would take awhile. When I came back up to check on the progress, the desktop was only showing her desktop picture, no icons, nothing else. I had to shut down the power because the PC wouldnt reboot any other way. When it tried to reboot, I can hear the fans spin, see the blue power light flicker... then it goes to yellow/orange light and shuts down before the start up screen even begins.
Then the light goes out. A second or two later, the fans spin, the power light comes on again blue... then orange and goes out. The third time, all on its own, it comes up blue, I hear one short beep and it stays on blue. But nothing ever appears on the scr... Read more

Hello,
I have a Preserio SR5130NX Desktop that turns on for 3 seconds and then shuts down. The only way to try and start it again is to unplug from power supply, re plug power supply and try again( with the same outcome). I have replaced the power supply but it does the same thing. Doing some research I hear that it may be the motherboard. Doe anyone have any ideas of what else it may be before giving up on this CPU.

My dad has HP a350n and we tried to turn it on this morning and it wont boot. I took the front cover off to see if there was just an issue with the button that boots the PC and it still didnt turn on. I tried connecting it directly to the power and not via the powerstrip to no avail. Specs: Pentium 4 / 2.80 GHz
800 MHz front side bus
HyperThreading Technology
2x 256mb PC 2700 Ram
160Gb Harddrive
ASUS P4SD-LA Motherboard.

A green light is flashing on the back of the power supply so maybe that means something, but I cant figure out what that might be.

The 1st place to start is testing the power supply. If you don't have a power supply tester you can test the voltage at the pins with a multimeter. If you don't have a multimeter the best thing to do is take the tower into a local repairer and have the power supply tested.

If the power supply tests bad, you can jump a known good power supply to the board and see if the problem is more than just the power supply. If you are lucky, the problem will just be a bad power supply.

we have windows xp on an 80gb hardrive in a dell desktop. we are able to get past the user sign on screen and the welcome to windows screen. after that we get a blank blue screen and an occasional hour glass but can go no further. occasionally an AntiVir window pops up stating I have a virus . ( which if you need the name of the virus i will have to check let me know) I put the drive in a different computer as a slave and even though it is recognized in the bios screen I cannot access it in My Computer(it doesnt show up at all) I put the drive in a windows ME computer and put a bootdisk in,,,,,, I ran fdisk and got the following ....

partition 1 non dos 47 mbytes 0% usage
partition 2 A NTFS 72646 mbytes 95% usage
partition 3 cp/m 3585mbytes 5% usage

should that "A" designation scare me? if so whats it mean and is there a fix? we mainly want to recover mp3 and Jpeg images off this drive and after that could do a format reinstall.

thank you , Paul

Put the drive back into the computer. Refer to my post HERE for the Microsoft Diagnostics Tool. Its an excellent tool for solving problems and backing up your data.

I recently built a computer for a friend of mine as a favor. Its a decent athlon computer which has run well for a couple months. But about 2 weeks ago he left it plugged in during a storm(or at least thats what I was told). And when he got back from work it wouldnt start.

When you press the power button nothing happens at all. Just like it wasnt plugged in. I have replaced the power supply with no results. I just finished replacing the motherboard and nothing happens still. I have disconnected everything and tried to boot it, I have made sure the switch was plugged into the motherboard correctly, I have tried every single thing I know of short of changing the processor, with no results at all. I was wondering if anyone has any ideas about what I could do before actually changing the processor. I have to order all the parts I need and I have struck out twice costing the guy about 80 bucks so far for things that I still am not sure were bad. I dont really want to spend another 50 and wait 5 more days for the part to get here then that still not work. I cant shake the feeling that I am missing something. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

By the way the motherboard is a PCCHIPS M811LU with an xp 2600+, and I have tried a power supply I know is good so its not that. Also when you first plug the computer into the wall the CPU fan comes on for a second I dont really remember seeing one do that before, and I know mine doesnt do it. I'm kind of unobservant though s theres... Read more

I've used that motherboard before. Did you change the CMOS jumper? It is set in the wrong position to boot, and the manual is labeled wrong. The jumper should be in the position labeled for clearing the CMOS.

I'm pretty sure all the boards have this problem, I knew about it in advance from reading the user reviews on Newegg.

hi all, hope you can help me here.

my pc is as follows:-

hp pavillion t340.uk
intel pentium 4 2.6mhz
512mb standard ram
16x dvd rw
dvd rom
80gb hard drive
128mb ati radeon graphics card
realtek '97 AC onboard

until yesterday my pc was running perfectly, however today windows wont boot.
when i turn the pc on the usual hp startup screen will appear but then it will go to a page where it says your pc did not start properly/ there was a power interupion.
it also gives me the options of starting windows normally, start in safe mode, safe mode with command prompt, safe mode with networking or last known good configuration.

whichever one i choose the computer reboots all over again and comes back to the same screen.

i have even pressed f10 at startup to go into system recovery (i have a recovery partition on the hard drive). the recovery starts up but then hangs on the blue screen but without the text which gives me the options (screen is blank)

i have tried unplugging as much hardware as possible, dvd drives, floppy, card readers, mouse, keyboard, printer but to no avail. i think it might not be a psu problem.

do you think this is virus activity?

i can access bios and temps appear to be fine

First build here, so probably a stupid question.

Every thing is connected hopefully correctly except the case leds to the mother board which is a gigabyte p35c-ds3r. The case leds are speaker, hdd led, reset sw, power sw and power led.

I did have these in but when I powered on I got absolutley nuttin... so would that have been because these were in wrong? Presumably or should that be hopefully the psu and cpu etc are all ok being new.

Im not sure what goes where, any ideas.

other specs are PSU antec true power trio tp3-550
cpu - intel core 2 duo e6750
asus 8800 gs grapics

thanks if you can help

Hey all!

I have a huge problem, almost a life/death situation, with my computer. The damn thing wont start. I click he power button and it goes up to the "Intel Inside" picture, but that's it. It stops there. This is my fault 'cuz I did something stupid, and have no idea how to fix it.
Okay; starting at the beginning. I bought Blitzkrieg 2 a month ago, since I was a huge fan of the original. I love the game and I played it every day for at LEAST one or two hours straight. However, a few days ago I made the mistake of placing it in my laptop's bag, which I take with me to school every day. Thing is... it got stolen, and I have no idea who did it. So I figure, I'm screwed. I can not afford a new game, because every single cent is going to both my GF's surgery and getting her from America and back to Iceland.

So this is where I got stupid. I figured, I'd crack the game. No harm done, since I paid for it, right? Well, wrong, I guess. To make a long story short, I got a program called StarForce Nightmare, which was supposed to do the trick. In my ignorance, I run it and click 'Disable Channel 1' or something like that. It says it's doing something... and voila. Blue screen of death, that says something about hardware problems and that it's doing a data dump. I panic and turn the computer off.

And this brings us here.

This is really crappy. I mean, I've learnt my lesson; it's better to not play the game at ... Read more
