All other pages are working fine.

A:HELP PLEASE res://C:\WINDOWS\System32\shdoclc.dll/dnserror.htm#http://www.myspace.com

That Site Works Fine on my PC. I dunno what the Issue Is. Your error has something to do with your DNS Server. Look over it and see if you've filled all forms etc correctly.

Please post back if you had any problems or resolutions.

A:yahoo mail has res://C:\WINDOWS\system32\shdoclc.dll/dnserror.htm #http

I've had this problem surfing to different web sites. Couldn't get some of the pages to display and getting shdoclc.dll/dnserror.htm message. I might have found the solution based on corrupted DNS. Try ipconfig/flushdns

Works for me right now. Hope it lasts.

My problem started last night. Whenever i try to open a page in IE 7.0 i get a "cannot find server" page and this appears in the adress box:

i have tried START> RUN> type: CMD>type: ipconfig/flushdns
no luck.

i also tried simply deleting shdoclc.dll from the system32 folder, but it keeps returning. i've also tried renamign the file, this didnt work either.

google and tech support forums are the only sites that work for some reason...

thank you to anybody that can help!

Any else would be appreciated. THANKS.

hi, Please provide these:

I see you have XP Home...
and Earthlink cable connection.
Try the reset button on the back or side of the cable modem....you can do this with pc on or off...in most cases.
Wait for the lights to finish blinking across the modem front and try the connection to IE or other browser.

You might try going to a command prompt and typing:

ipconfig /flushdns

and pressing enter. See if that helps.

I have a problem with IE. I run XP & IE 6 which has been fine until yesterday, now each time I try to use explorer this message keeps coming up. I can access the internet through other programs and my e-mail is working fine. I have installed and run Spybot, Adaware, CCleaner and just completed a hijack this report. (the results are saved and available for anyone to see). I also run Norton, and have a fairly secure firewall on the router.

We run a small business and have 2 computers networked through a router connected directly to the phone lines. The other computers are fine.

I am fairly computer literate and have spent many hours trying to correct this problem, but I am now at the point of throwing this PC through my window!

Has anyone got some ideas?

It could be a DNS problem.
Goto Start > Run. . . > Type in "cmd" (without the quotes), hit enter or ok.

Type in "ipconfig /all", and look in there besides DNS Servers, if there is not one listed that would be your problem. Tell the results.

(To get out of cmd, just type exit and hit enter)

Anyone have a solution to this problem. I have XP running at home and after about 5 minutes on line this is what shows up when I try to change pages or start IE. No email either. If I reboot then I am good for another 5 or 10 minutes.

I have run all the spyware, Adaware, Spy Bot, PC Rescue, Norton to no avail.

Hi, There is a chance that you can cure this, however we see lots of failures with it> here is a thread about it>

see posting#2 by Steve here:

A link there goes to here:

Where Calamity Jane, an expert, explains about what you can try (Kaspersky trial version) and how to get it and set it up...those directions are crucial to your success. Note that you MUST:

Set Norton (or any other antvirus program) to not start up when the computer does> the setting to do that is in Norton Antivirus, in Preferences or Options> look for Bootup or Startup Options, and something along the lines of "Do not start Norton Antivirus when Windows/ computer starts up" so the the background scanner is not running when you try to install Kaspersky, or it will prompt you to uninstall Norton.

You MUST run Kaspersky in Safe Mode as it says, and you have to use the extended database.
There are directions for manual updating the program, where you cannot get online to get them in the steps.

If you cannot even download the program> have someone burn it to a CD for you, as an ISO data burn (they should know what that is all about) and install it that way, the updates can be manually added to the CD as it says.

Does anyone know how to fix this error I keep getting. I can be on line for 10 to 20 minutes then I just lose my ability to be on line. You get "page not found". I simply reboot and then it appears to clear for another 10 to 20 minuntes. I am on Verizon DSL and my connection is fine. I have XP service pack 2 installed with all patches updated. I read somewhere it might be a Norton issue so I have completey uninstalled NAV and NIS to see if that solved the problem. No help. I have Ad Aware, Spy Bot and the new MS Spyware beta all running with no spy problems. My system appears to run fine but really frustrating to have to reboot every 20 minutes to be on line.

I really appreciate any help or adivse or direction someone can steer me to.

Thanks, Steve

I have run into this before on a win 98 machine and all you had to do was first get the spyware/virus off the machine then delete the winsock and winsock2 keys from the registry restart and re-install tcp/ip protocol and everything was gravy. I have been fighting the same issue on a windows xp pro machine. I can ping any site including other pc's on my lan but cannot browse with any web browser. I have run everything all virus/spyware scan, sfc, netsh, deleted winsock entries, removed all ntwk protocols and services and reinstalled them and still cannot browse. So i feel your pain.

I think that is actually an ad ware problem.

There is a special section at TSF to deal with these. If you could have a read of this and follow the steps it outlines, then post your log by creating a new thread here , it should be solved.

Also, please note that the above section of the site is VERY busy so replies may be delayed.

You should get rid of MyWebSearch. Try to uninstall it. It may not be the problem, but MyWebSearch is considered a hijacker and spyware.

You are running AdAware, make sure it's updated and start it doing a deep scan.

The issue you're experiencing is usually related to a browser hijacker. Continue to search these forums as many posters on here have experienced it. A Google search will turn up many more suggestions.

Is res:shdoclc.dll/dnserror.htm in my IE Web Browser Addy bar a Hi-Jacker??? Well, it's actually my Pops PC. I just cleaned out his PC, got it up and runnin.....again(dont ask)!!! It was workin fine,,,next thing I know its not connecting to a web page!!! I have to go and install Ad-Aware but without downloadin updates will this get fixed that way????

Make sure that the Operating System and Internet Explorer are up-to-date by visiting the Windows Update Site and downloading all of the Critical Updates and Service Packs.

From what I read they are calling that the "garbage string bug". Instead of typing "www.microsoft.com" (no quotes) in the Address bar, you can type "microsoft" (again, no quotes) and hit CTRL+ENTER. This will actually add the "http://www" and ".com" portions of the URL for you automatically. But the interesting thing is that it also bypasses the garbage string bug if you type of bad URL.

Hi and Welcome to TSF

Before attacking an adware/spyware problem with hijackthis make sure you have already run the following tools. Download and update the databases on each program before running. Ad-Aware? SE Personal Edition
Spybot Search & Destroy

Also make sure you are using the the latest version (1.99.1) of HijackThis and it's installed in it's own folder on the root drive. (C:\HJT)

Go to My Computer->Tools->Folder Options->View tab and make sure that Show hidden files and folders is enabled. Also make sure that the System Files and Folders are showing/visible.
Please make sure system restore is enabled by right clicking on My Computer and go to Properties->System Restore and check the box for Turn OFF System Restore and make sure it?s NOT checked. We want system restore ON and monitoring your current hard drive. Once your clean we will turn this off and then back on to remove the infection from the restore folder and create a clean restore point.

Please download LQfix batch here:
Unzip it to the desktop but do NOT run it yet.

Next, please reboot your computer in Safe Mode by doing the following:
1) Restart your computer
2) After hearing your computer beep once during startup, but before the Windows icon appears, press F8.
3) Instead of Windows loading as normal, a menu should appear
4) Select the first option, to run Windows in Safe Mod... Read more

A:shdoclc.dll/dnserror.htm in my IE Web Browser

Please print out or copy this page to Notepad. Make sure to work through the fixes in the exact order it is mentioned below. If there's anything that you don't understand, ask your question(s) before proceeding with the fixes. You should not have any open browsers when you are following the procedures below.

Before you do anything else, please create a folder for HijackThis and put it in a permanent folder (like C:\HJT) instead of the Temp folder. This is required because HijackThis will create backups and we don't want them to be deleted.

Go to My Computer->Tools/View->Folder Options->View tab and make sure that 'Show hidden files and folders' (or 'Show all files') is enabled. Also make sure that Display the contents of System Folders' is checked. Windows XP's search feature is a little different. When you click on 'All files and folders' on the left pane, click on the 'More advanced options' at the bottom. Make sure that Search system folders, Search hidden files and folders, and Search subfolders are checked.

For the options that you checked/enabled earlier, you may uncheck them after your log is clean. If we ask you to fix a program that you use or want to keep, please post back saying that (we don't know every program that exists, so we may tell you to delete a program that we think is bad to keep).

Turn off system restore by right clicking on My Computer and go to Properties->System Restore and check the box for Turn off System Restore... Read more

Hi vinzoolander and welcome to TSF,

Since you're having problems accessing the Internet, see if you can get to another computer and burn to a disc, the following:

If you haven't already, download, install, update immediately, then run AdawareSE. Make sure to customize the settings in Ad-aware for better scan results.

Then download, install, update immediately, click on 'Immunize' then click 'Check for Problems'. Spybot S&D.

Have each fix whatever problems they may find.

Then get HijackThis . This program will help us determine if there are any spyware/malware on your computer. Run the scan, save the log, but do not fix anything yet. Many files it finds are harmless, and required for your system to operate.

Post your log in a new thread in the HijackThis Log Help forum. This our dedicated spyware/virus forum. One of the expert analysts there will look over your log and assist you. Please include a brief description of the problem you are having and what you have done to fix it so far.

Recently my computer has been plagued with spyware, malware, and viruses. The main
problem is the SHDOCLC.DLL/dnserror.htm error. I have also been denied access to
the control panel with a message that says I have to be the admin, which I am. I
have tried running control panel commands from the command prompt, again I get the
same message saying I don't have access and to contact the admin.
I have located 2 spyware/malware programs: printer.exe and shell.exe. i was able
to kill the process tree for shell.exe, and proceeded to locate and delete it. However
when I later started up the computer it reappeared.
When I ran Ad-Aware I came up with the trojan: win32.trojan.agent, which i believe
ad-aware removed, although I don't know how to check this.

I believe the virusses, spyware, etc. was downloaded through bittorrent, which mysteriously
appeared on my computer yesterday.

I have performed a HJT scan and can provide it if anyone needs it.

Any help would be very much appreciated.
Thank you very very much.

For a couple of days now i'm experiencing a problem with my internet browser and internet connection.

I'm using Windows2000. Two days ago my AVG detected a few trojans that unfortunately can't get rid of. These are Generic.LUR , Clicker.FR , Generic.JJR and Agent.EX . At the same time my internet browser version6.00 stopped working. Everytime i'm trying to connect to the internet it shows that it tries to download from C:\WINNT\system32\shdoclc.dll\dnserror.htm and then it just says that the site can not be displayed. Also nothing else connects to the internet. I've tried upgrating my AVG antivirus i've tried to access internet with Yahoo messenger but nothing connects. I also tried and downloaded (using another pc of course) firefox in case it was a fault with internet explorer but firefox doesn't work either. It's like i have no internet connection. I've contacted my internet provider but they say everything is fine with my broadband the problem is from my end.

Also my Ad Aware SE Personal program and my Spybot Search & Destroy don't work. Everytime i try to run them they crush.

I have run HijackThis on my pc and this is the log. I would really appreciate it if you could help me. I really don't want to have to format my pc.
