I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

I knew that this laptop had one tiny speaker but I didn't really mind because I use extra speakers. To my surprise, even if you connect a stereo pair of speakers the sound that you get is mono. I tried different kinds, of jacks, headphones and what so, but no stereo sound. It seems that the combo jack provides mono sound. The sound card is a realteck HD audio ALC233. Have all updates and laptop had windows 10 Home preinstalled You can check for your self doing the "left an right test" through control panel.  I also went back to the store and checked for my self on other demo laptops. Same issues there too. Went to other stores  same issues on all ideapads 100 seiries.I contacted Lenovo in Greece. They advised that the sound out the combo jack must be stereo in all occasions  and to send them the laptop to check it.But what are they going to check? All ideapads 100 series laptops in the market, at least the ones I tested provide mono sound out of the combo jack.Laptop specifications mention availability of a mono speaker and nothing about the combo jack. i will apreciate an official answer on this matter which will be beneficial to lenovo customers.

My keyboard and trackpad don't work for some reason. I read on the internet that I have to do a hard reset (taking out the battery and disconnecting the AC cable, than holding the power button for 30 seconds) to make it work again. So my question is how to perform a hard reset if the battery is INBUILT. I looked into the user manual of the laptop but I couldn't find anything. My laptop works with a USB mouse and keyboard, and the laptop keyboard works in BIOS. I also tried to find an option to disable the battery in BIOS but couldn't find anything. Thanks for your help!

Hello and welcome,

I've moved your post to the correct forum - based on the laptop model.

The first ID belongs to a Realtek WLAN card.  The 2nd is the Intel IME interface.

You don't say what operating system you're running, but one of the WLAN drivers you link is for Realtek - Windows 7 and the other is for an Intel card.

If you're running Windows 10 try:

My lappy was fine for the first 3 months then I started getting thin muli-coloured lines accross the screen, a bit like Interference. This developed over the last month and when the screen started flickering and the backlight was go-ing on and off, I dicided to seek help from the online support team. I might as well have asked my next door neighbours Parrot. Because this fault started when the machine was 3 months old and was steadily getting worse. There is no way that I was believing that this was software related. Even when I told the Lenovo clown that it also went off when I tapped the left hand side of the case he still wanted to try and diagnose it remotely for OS / Driver issues. Anyway, I am posting here to help anyone else out with the same problem. I fixed it by: Removing the 3 screws on the centre of the base (they have a small keyboard image next to them).Using a very thin bladed knife, lift the top of the keyboard away from the case. After lifting a little with the knife you can get your fingers under it. (It makes a horrible cracking noise as you seperate it. But don't worry, be brave. As long as you have removed those 3 screws, it will come away). Carefully lift the keyboard up and you will see the ribbon cable conector. It has a hinged flap that holds the cable in place. Lift this up and remove the cable and keyboard. Just above the keyboard cable connector is a small rectangled hole. If you look in there you will see another plug. It conne... Read more

Team, I'm the happy owner of an Ideapad 100-15IBY that perfectly does the job. Unfortunately, Windows 10 decided to download tons of upgrades/updates that completely put my PC on the knees. I had a very bad reaction: while I had the Lenovo logo on the screen and it's turning wheel with the "upgrading XX%..." message (so during BIOS load, it seems) and I switched the PC off. Since then, no boot, no access even to BIOS and the screen stays black. Even the Lenovo logo doesn't appear anymore. I dismounted the laptop, removed the battery, removed the CMOS battery and reformatted the hard drive (Seagate 500GB) completely: nothing changed. I suspect that there is no electronic issue, only the BIOS is corrupted or vanished. I read the hardware manual but didn't find a mean to reinitialize the BIOS (any jumper on the motherboard? I didn't dismounted it yet). Where could I find a working BIOS to reflash it? What is the sequence to force a BIOS reflash? Thanks in advance for your help.

Recently bought Ideapad 100-15IBY (Quadcore 1.7GHz, 4GB RAM). The seller installed Windows7 (64 bit) with drivers. However with 64bit OS the system operation is slow, instable and out of sync. I tried Windows 7 (32 bit) and found the operation to be smooth. But drivers for Win7 32 bit is not available in Lenovo website. How to get the drivers I need? I don't think 64 bit drivers would install on 32 bit OS. And I can't tolerate the performance with 64 bit OS. Only option is use of 32 bit Windows 7. Now, how do I get drivers? After installing Ubuntu on my ideapad 100-15IBY type 80MJ, my BIOS appears to be broken. I was not happy with the Ubuntu distro and I wanted to install something else, but I was not able to boot from either USB or CD-ROM after this install. In fact, any changes made in the BIOS is not saved (I tried resetting virtually everything). At first I thought this must be due to a problem with the EFI partition or bootloader, so I disconnected the SSD drive but then BIOS could not find any bootable media. I also tried replacing the CMOS battery (atleast I assume this is the CMOS battery, a CS2032 battery on the motherboard), still no improvement.  What can I do to reclaim my computer? Would it be possible to remove the harddrive, put it in another computer and install windows and so update the bios from lenovos winflash bios updater? Or is there an easier option? I suppose lenovos winflash thing will not be working under WINE? Not being able to boot from USB is really a big issue for me...

Hello, firstly I want to thank you for reading my post and apologize for the poor formating.  Secondly, I would like to share my issue with my lenovo laptop (bought late 2016): I think someone might have sent me a virus through a game. What makes me think that? After someone messaged me in-game telling me they were making me disconnect from the game, which was ineed happening for a few days. So I used the novo button to get back to reinstall the system? from the recovery partition but I am still worried that someone could be spying on me. Then I tried to install windows 7 professional 64bit (the laptop was provided with windows 10) from an official DVD I bought a few years ago but it did not work, I changed some settings in the BIOS about UEFI, legacy, I read that on this forum in other posts. I tried to boot from the DVD, and eventually it gives a blue screen telling me that my BIOS is not ACPI compliant.  I updated the BIOS but it didn't solve the issue.   Finally i would like to ask a few questions: 1) Could my recovery partition be infected?2) Is there any way to download and install a fresh version of windows 10, I tried from the microsoft website but apparently my windows doesn't work.  Thank you for reading and have a nice day.

I bought an ideapad 100-15IBY Windows 8.1 (32 bit) about 15 months ago, so its out of warranaty for about 3 months, and yesterday I was playing songs on an external speaker, and as soon as i plugged the AUX cord out of the laptop this loud white noise started and wouldnt stop for another 5 minutes or something. It stops for a while then as soon as I open any audio it starts again even when muted. So I thought I should leave it for an hour or two then try switching the laptop on and check again, once i pressed on the power button to switch it on the white noise started again (in the starting up loading screen). Somebody told me it might be the fan, but I thought why would the fan noise stop and only comeback when I play an audio. This is the white noise if you don't know it:https://soundcloud.com/vojta_test/white-noise-01

Hello! I am writing to you as a teacher in a highschool in Croatia. In November of 2015 (which a little over 2 years ago) we bought 8 100-15IBY Laptop (ideapad) laptops. Right now we have only 3 which are working as other 5 are broken, that is the hinges of the screen are broken. In no other model and manufacturer have we had the same situation. We took them to the certified repair shop but they told us that we have no basis for the free-of charge repair although we have bought extended guarantee. The strangest thing of all is that a year back we took one of the mentioned laptops to the same repair shop with the broken hinges and they said that the broken hinges are usually not covered by the guarantee, but that Lenovo for this model is repairing them anyway as it is the fault in the model itself. My students and I are now working on only a few laptops and would grately appreciate your reply and help in any way. Thank you,SCuric

Hi! When I connect FULL HD digital TV (or projector) via HDMI, the image on the TV does not fill the entire screen. This happens when I use the mode "duplicate screen". If I connect only the digital TV, all OK, the image on the full screen.I have tried in the Intel HD Graphics driver settings to change the position of "scaling". But I saw only one option out there - "in the middle". There are no other options. We tried windows 7 and 10, as well as various drivers (Lenovo and Intel) - there is a problem. Our company has several laptops of different companies, multiple projectors and televisions. Nowhere is this problem we do not observe.By the way - if I do this:- Change the screen resolution to a smaller- I go to settings and changing the built-in monitor and scaling to "stretch to full screen"- Then again returns the standard resolutionSo in this case, the image on the digital TV right - the whole screen. But as soon as I turned off and then turn on the TV or laptop, then I again see the problem.Those. problem in the driver. Please help, because we can not use a laptop for presentation. But that is why we bought him. Thank you,Egor

Nowhere in the documentation, web site is any info about what kind of controller and hence what size SD cards this model is supporting.Even Lenovo tech support doesn't know that info!I am really hesitant to buy a SDXC card of +32GB only to find out it supports on SDHC cards, thus limited to 32GB... thanks for any useful info, Ralf

A:What kind of SD card controller is in a Lenovo IdeaPad 120S-11AIP? SDHC or SDXC compatible?

Hi ITWorxLA,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

As per system overview :
IO port: Memory card slot (SD/SDHC/SDXC/MMC)

Platform specification:
One microSD Card slot, supports up to 2TB

Usually there would be stickers on the box or laptop to indicate the format it also supports.
You can try to find/borrow  a spare 32GB SDXC to test first before purchase.

Hope this helps answer your query.

Regards

Hi folks. My friend gave me his ideapad 100 which has Linux Ubunut OS on it and he asked me to install Win 7. I have tried to install the OS, but after booting and loading system data, Windows's Blue Screen of Death appears with a message "The BIOS in this system is not fully ACPI compliant.". So, after 4 hours of trying what i have found on internet, nothing's been successfull. I have tried to update BIOS, and I found the last BIOS for ideapad 100 (http://pcsupport.lenovo.com/us/en/products/LAPTOPS-AND-NETBOOKS/100-SERIES/100-15IBY/downloads/DS102...), but it comes in .exe file which I cant run in Linux.I tried to run it even with Wine but it was unsuccessful. Then, I tried to search for BIOS update in .iso file to make it bootable with usb, but I didn't find it. Please, help me with this, I dont know what to do anymore.

I was using my headphones when I was at Starbucks. Then I came home and the headphone jack wouldn't work. The speakers work. My headphones work on other devices. I've uninstalled/reinstalled RealTek Audio driver. Still doesn't work. Rebooted countless times. Done all sorts of Internet research. Running Windows 10. In Control Panel, Sound, Manage Audio Devices, Sound - Speakers icon appears but no headphones. I'm running out of ideas. Anyone experience this ever? Please HELP!

I import Lenovo Laptop and during the last 2 weeks I had two compaints from clients that they cant close their laptop since their is something broken.  When I remove the from front bazel of the display I found out that the hinges were broken and in consequence the back cover was also broken from the screws and funnily enough always the righthinge. The Model is lenovo 100-15IBY. These two laptops are still under warranty and I have to pay for the parts (around Eur 68 ) since I cant claim them. Now I am seriously considering to stop importing lenovo Laptops. Lenovo must improve their quality for sure.
