No video output on HDMI after video driver update

Q: No video output on HDMI after video driver update

So I recently decided to update my graphics for the new Battlefront and got a pop up from Catalyst Control asking if I wanted to activate some 'super high' setting for my Toshiba 32BV702B 32" tv. I foolishly clicked okay and now my tv won't display any video.

I'm not sure where to go to turn that setting off but I can get back my video by plugging in a DVI output at the same time. I just use this extra monitor for when stuff breaks cause the BIOS options don't show on HDMI output - right now it's allowing the TV to display the picture but if I remove that cable the video goes again. I'm guessing it's a different video profile when they're both plugged in from when they aren't or something and I don't know how to make changes to just the TV when both are plugged in for me to be able to see.

Any help would be much appreciated.
Kind regards,

Extra info:
AMD Radeon HD 7800 4gb card
Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit
TV Resolution, when DVI plugged in: 1920 x 1080 32-bit 30hz - Generic PnP Monitor

If you need any further info about my setup just let me know and I'll try to provide it asap.

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

I have had my Thinkpad connected to a Samsung TV via HDMI cable (through a Thinkpad dock) for months with no problems. After the latest Lenovo updates (see attached screenshot file) my Thinkpad intermittently fails to recognize the Samsung TV as an audio output... it does not register as an audio device in audio settings nor in control panel, yet it does still connect to the TV as a 2nd monitor and video works fine. It seeems to alternate every other time that I boot up the computer. One boot-up it fails to recognize the TV as an audio output, then I'll reboot and it works.

Hello! I have a problem.

I have been using my laptop to output to a large, HD (1080i max res) TV via HDMI for some time. I recently replaced my slightly older HP entertainment laptop with an ASUS K52JC-A1 running a 2.4GHz i5 and a Nvidia 310 graphics card, 4GB of RAM. In my research beforehand, I found that the specs should have been equivalent (I believe the HP was running a dual-core Intel around 2.2-2.4GHz and an ATI card of some kind), but since I switched over, I've had nothing but trouble with my HDMI outputting of .mkv x264 video output. I have done exhaustive research on this subject, at least as far as Google and word of mouth can take me, and I can't figure out why.

My precise problem is this: No matter the res, which is usually 720 or 1080 by whatever, but always the mkv container with the x264 codec, I get video choppiness and cutting, some slowing and speeding up, and occasionally pixelation and graphics "merging," where one image continues over another. The latter problems are usually only with 1080 res, which makes me suspect lack of power from either the processor or the graphics card. I figure that any i5 would have no problem with this, but I don't know a ton about the overall performance of the graphics card. I'm smart with this stuff but not too resourceful, so this is where I'm turning. I have been working on this for quite awhile with no improvement.

This only happens when the video is outputting directly to the TV w... Read more

Just wondered if it's normal for my laptop to output a max of 1280x768 through HDMI to my 26" LCD TV?

Its a Satellite R830 i3 with hd3000 graphics. I have 8GB RAM. Tried under Windows 7 and 8 but the same.
Also tried custom resolution but it just says on the TV out of range.

Mt graphics driver is up to date and I had full hd working on this TV via another older laptop.

Any suggestions please?

A:Satellite R830 and video output through HDMI

I don?t know your LCD TV specifications but fact is that external resolution depends on three options:
graphic card driver, graphic card and the external device connected to notebook/computer.

So if your TV does not support an higher resolution, you will not be able to choose another resolution.
If your TV supports higher resolution but the graphic card driver and graphic chip would not support higher resolution, you will also not be able to use it.

A:Tip: How to connect W541 to TV with HDMI that output audio and video

If I'm not mistaken, your W541 has a mini-Displayport connector on the left side, which is for use connecting an external monitor or HDTV.  It provides audio and video to the externally connected display device, same as an HDMI connector would.
You simply need to get an inexpensive miniDP->HDMI cable. You don't have to use HDMI->HDMI.  The miniDP->HDMI cable will work exactly the same way as an HDMI->HDMI cable will, with the nVidia drivers controlling audio and video output to your HDTV.
I assume your W541 has nVidia Quadro graphics, and this miniDP connector?

I just bought a new laptop and it has an hdmi output on it. It is only an average laptop so the graphics card is pretty basic- i think its just the standard intel one.

When i connect my laptop to my 42" lcd screen and run it just off the TV, the video plays fine but about every 10 seconds or so it goes jumpy for a few seconds then back to normal.
however if i connect them and run both screens- the image on the tv is much smaller but plays fine. i'm thinking that when its outputting a larger image- that is causing the slowdown cause my graphics card can't handle it.

is there anyway to produce the 42" image without the slowdown?

thanks for the help

I have Vista 64 installed on a system with a Powercolor X1950 Pro. Everything works fine until I install the ATI driver. If I do, when I restart the computer, I lose video on both of the card's outputs, but I think Vista is still running fine. If I restart in safe mode and uninstall the driver, everything is fine again. I ran Windows update before installing the driver, but nothing changed. I'm sure I'm using the 64-bit driver. I originally had 32-bit XP installed and everything worked fine after installing the driver. I've searched for possible solutions online, but haven't found much that was useful.
Any ideas?

A:No video output after installing ATI driver

The only thing I can come up with based on some other threads is that maybe I need to install the general vista vga driver first. I kept skipping that because I knew I had the ATI driver and because don't remember doing it on XP. Does anyone know if this could be related to my problem?
I'm in the middle of reinstalling XP now, so I don't want to stop and reinstall Vista without knowing if it's a likely fix.

There should be a Firewire (otherwise called IEEE 1394 or DV Link) port on the camera, it looks like a mini USB port. Using a Firewire cable, connect this port to the Firewire port on your laptop or PC. If your PC has no Firewire port, you can add one by buying a PCI Firewire card.

I was having trouble installing the driver for a new graphics card, so I deactivated the On-board Intel video driver.
System rebooted fine immediately after doing this and had the basic safe mode graphics display, but still could not get the new driver to be recognized, so as a desperate act of stupidity I deleted the On-board driver.

Now there is no video output what so ever, nothing at all during boot even, so finding it hard to repair windows or reinstall onboard video driver. (I have the original motherboard disks).

I've tried safemode approach, and also the "wait till fully booted then using 'windows + U' to get the vocal screen reader but no approuches have worked. (I've of course tried booting with windows disc, motherboard disc and new video card driver disc. Also tried different monitors and all the output plugs at back. also tried taking graphics card out etc.)

Any advice would be much appreciated. Cheers, Adam.

A:No Display output after disabling video driver on motherboard.

Welcome to TSG.
If you didn't previously told the computer to have dual display, meaning allowing an external monitor, it will be hard to do anything and you might have to install everything from the original disks, unless you have some kind of a networking already set up on that computer and you could access your files from the network to save your files

Okay, here's what I want to do. I want to send video output to a Plasma in my family room and also have output to the computer monitor in the adjacent office. I have the option of using either VGA or DVI to either monitor, so I can use a video card that has dual VGA/DVI outputs. Or, I can buy a separate PCI video card. Right now I have an ATI All-in-Wonder 7500.

Am I better off to get a new video card with dual monitor output or have two separate video cards. If the former, what video cards do you recommend? I know I've seen recommendations for the 9600 Pro, which seems to have dropped significantly in price? I'd like to stay with ATI as I've always used that.

I have a Latitude E7470 and have connected a U2715H display to it. I am using HDMI cable as connection.
Recently I upgraded the video driver to latest from Dell site. And I noticed that the Dell U2715H display started blanking out and going in and out of power save.
I reverted to the older driver which never gave any of this trouble. I then disconnected the U2715 and tried the upgrade again, then a reboot. And then it works. But only for a while.
Typically twice a day the blanking and flashing power save starts. I have to disconnect the display. Power it off for a few minutes and power on and reconnect.
This is getting annoying.
I looked this up on Dell site and only symptom was with DP which I am not using. I am using HDMI.
I'm not sure if this is a laptop driver issue or a display firmware issue.
Anyone else had this strange behaviour on HDMI.

We have T470 (20JM) and T470s(20JS) in our environment. Both models are having a problem connecting to external displays using HDMI Intermittently and sporadically the screen goes blank. It does not matter what order I turn on the devices or connect the cables. Randomly the screen will go black - sometimes the image comes back within a few seconds; sometimes the image blinks on and off for up to a minute; sometimes the image is steady and the monitor is usable for an hour or two; sometimes the image stays off for so long (about 30 seconds) that I get a "No Signal Detected" message from the monitor, only to have the image return (sometimes within seconds, sometimes within minutes, sometimes within hours).

I have a friend who has a custom built computer. The "expert" that built it for her has left town, and did not leave her with any supporting drivers or software. She has never been able to set her display to more than 256 colors, so I figure she needs to load her video/graphics driver as a first step.

She lives a distance from me, and is not familiar with pulling out cards, so I had her look for her invoice. Her video card is described as a STD Nitro 3D PCI 4MB, and she runs Windows NT 4.0. I believe I finally (after a LOT of searching) found the right driver (n3dcnt40.zip) here:

Ithis most likely the right driver, or should she find all the info on the card itself first to be sure?

Also, to which location(s) do I have her unzip the files?

OR, is NT similar to Win/95/98, where when asked for a driver location, you select, "have disk" and use the location of wherever you unzipped those files?

A:STB video driver update

So long as the OS is NT 4 then it looks like you found the right driver. If the unzip does not create a folder on its own, i would download it to a new folder such as STB and unzip it to there and then windows to it to install.

So I tryed to update it from HP site, but newest version for my notebook is 8.712.1.2000 (april 2010). (notebook i bought december 2010). Ok. I downloaded fresh driver from AMD 15.7.1 (march 2016). After installation in summary it sais about parameters not proper and linking to Radeon HD 4250 (not 5650). And Radeon HD 4250 must be update via Windows Update, but Windows use Radeon HD 5650 (and I want use 5650 to, bcouse windows rating  6.7 for 5650 and 4.2 for 4250!). Difference in Catalyst versions that i notice - 03.00.0765(from HP site) have "ATI NorthBridge filter driver" and new ones havn't. Sorry, that was to much, yeah? So questions. remove current. power down. install new card. power up. let win 7 install driver. If that driver doesnt work well go to web site and download the latest greatest. Install.

I have an S-Video port on my computer and I am going to run it to my 46" Projection TV.

What I want to know is how to switch b/t S-Video out and the VGA out so I can switch between my monitor and TV - is there a keyboard combination I have to hit (like on a function key on a laptop)?

I will only be viewing video files on my TV (so it won't be too often that I use the S-Video out port).

I remember doing this a while back, but it seems like I had to do a restart and unhook my VGA connection to get the S-Video feed to work - there must be an easier way.

Thanks ALL!!!

A:Switch b/t VGA Monitor output and S-Video Output

Depending on the card, I am personally better versed with ATI, but I know my Nvidia also, you can set up a dual display and set the S video to play all movies at full screen, and through the control disable the TV when not in use.

My daughter has a Pavilion p7 with an AMD A6-5400K processor which has no video output on either the integrated MB connectors or on an add-in card.Since this seems to indicate that the GPU on the CPU has failed I am also wondering if there is circuitry on the MB which would cause this. The bottom line is: should we be looking at replacing either the MB or the CPU or both?Any guidance concerning this will be greatly appreciated.FredBK

I have a gateway m-151x how would I update my video card player?

A:update video card driver?

The Gateway m-151x is a notebook computer I believe. What operating system do you have installed?
Go to www.gateway.com and see what your options are.
I just checked and found no updates for that card, but you may have the specifications sheet and therefore better information.

I was trying to update the driver for my AMD M880G ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4250 video card. I downloaded what must be the package that includes the video driver from here: http://support.amd.com/us/gpudownload/windows/Pages/radeonmob_win7-64.aspx

I assume I should be able to point Window's Update Driver at this package and it find the driver, right? But in trying to find some kind of instructions on AMD's miserable website, I found instructions saying that the 'Catalyst' software and driver should both be from the same package.

So--does anyone know how to manage this? How do you update Catalyst and the video driver?

I have Catalyst Control Center installed. There's no update feature in there. I feel like I'm missing something very important yet far to basic for support.amd.com to bother informing anyone of.

I just want to update the Driver for my Video Card but I do not really know how to...

MY Video Card: ATI Mobility Radeon X1400

When I go to ATI site I cannot find this X1400 and when I try X1300 it just does not work...

A:Update Video Card driver

Okay, due to security issues I can't give you a direct link...here are the steps!

2. Click Professional/Home.
3. Click Mobility Radeon
4. Click your video card and then click GO!
5. Now click the link that says "Installation Verification Software".

This will first verify you have the correct card, then download the driver. Should be self explanatory. Good Luck!
