Dell Monitor connect to HP Envy

Q: Dell Monitor connect to HP Envy

I bought a Dell P2014H monitor, which came with display port, VGA and DVI-D slots and cables? My HP Envy only appears to have a HDMI and USB slots. Is there an adapter to hook these 2 together?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

What do I need to run the addtional monitor as far as cables/connectors and do I have to download anything else along with purchasing wires/cables?  I am running Window 10(64-bit).  Please help!!

Hi, Many HP Envy machines have HDMI OUT port. In your case, please use USB-HDMI or USB-DVI adapter such as:      http://www.jaycar.com.au/usb-3-0-converter-to-hdmi-1080p/p/XC4973 Regards.

I have a problem with an HP Envy m6-k125dx.
https://forums.techguy.org/threads/hp-envy-starts-and-goes-directly-to-hibernate.1203428/

The first step to troubleshoot it is to test the monitor (according to HP support).

Their product specs say it has an HDMI port.
https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c04094893
but not what kind of HDMI port it is.

What type of HDMI port is on the HP Envy m6-k125dx?

Then I can order an adapter to see if the monitor is the problem.

I need an adapter that will fit a 15 pin VGA. The monitor will also accept the other plugin with more pins (whatever that is called)

So I need whatever type of HDMI port the HP Envy m6-k125dx has that will connect to a normal computer monitor?

What do I need to test this monitor?

Also, I don't get any access to BIOS or any of that stuff. So when I turn on the computer pressing Esc or F11 won't even show anything on the screen. Is the ability to read the monitor at that point related to a bad video card. It is just a black screen. not even a cursor shows

Anyway, I need to start the troubleshooting process and I need to know which adapter to get.

Hi everyone,
I have a new hardware:

Dell XPS13 (9360) with Thunderbolt 3
Dell U3417W 34" monitor  (3440x1440 px)

I have prepared everything on my table because I had no idea that new Dell only has Thunderbolt 3 and no mini display port. I was kind of surprised (in a bad way) that I will need another reduction.
The problem is that I can only input display port, mini display port and HDMI into the new Dell U3417W monitor. I am not sure how much resolution I can squeeze from HDMI, so what is left are those display ports.
Should I buy USB-C -> Display port cable like for e.g. Startech USB Type-C to Displayport cable, 1m (CDP2DPMM1MB) which could possibly do the job? Or perhaps even some Thunderbolt 3 cable?
I need to have 3440x1440 px @ 60 Hz where some of those cables support only @30 Hz and they do not explicitly state that 3440x1440px resolution is supported.
I would rather avoid those bugged Dell docking stations where the whole internet (e.g. Amazon) is snowed by users complaints.
Thanks in advance for any help!

I recently bought my Phoenix and decided I wanted a monitor from dell, the Gaming S2716DG 27" Screen LED-Lit Monitor with G-SYNC. We got two new Dell XPS 13 for users and there does not seem to be any video out ports like on previous models.  This runs Windows 10 Professional and has an internal screen resolution of 1920x1080.  Looks like there is 2 USB 3.0 super speed ports and possibly a (thunderbolt)??? port?
I've heard of USB-C so I'm not sure if this one port on the left side is that, or if its thunderbolt.  I googled thunderbolt to hdmi adapter and in all the images I find it always shows a mini display port on one end despite the descriptions saying thunderbolt.

So whats the cheapest way to get HDMI out on this laptop?

A:How do I connect an external monitor to a new Dell XPS 13?

Hi,
The Thunderbolt( USB Type C port) on the Left Hand side deals with the video output on the system. You will need to purchase a USB Type C to HDMI adapter to display video.
The cable is available on the Dell website here

Hi - I currently have a Dell OptiPlex™ GX270 to which I would like to connect an HP monitor. The monitor has a VGA cable, a DVI cable and an audio cable (and obviously a power cable). The Dell has VGA input, and, as far as I can tell not DVI. Do I need to be able to connect DVI in order to use this monitor? Also, monitor has built-in speakers. I am assuming the audio cable for that would go into the same input that I currently use for my free standing speakers. The monitor has that Bright View Technology which looks quite nice. My system has 512 ram, Intel Pentium 2.4 GHz processor and plenty of hard disk space. Bottom line - is this pc up to the task of this monitor connection? Even though this Dell is sort of old, it still runs fine and I see no need to dump it at this juncture - especially since any new pc's only come with Win7. I like xp. Anyway, any help would be most appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Hi:
I have connected the monitor to the laptop with an HDMI cable and the monitor says there is no signal in the HDMI port. Then (a couple of minutes later), the signal is received and the monitor shows what I have in my laptop. However, this is intermittent and the signal is lost and restored. This happens sometimes when I’m opening a new program or the program I’m using starts to use more resources from the processor. I already have installed the monitor driver for Dell P2815Q. I’m using Windows 10.
I’m thinking that maybe I will have better luck with a USB 3 cable. What do you recommend?
 Thanks,
 Javier

A:How do I connect an Inspiron 7737 to a Dell P2815Q monitor (with USB?)

USB would mean DisplayLink, which has a number of drawbacks compared to attaching the display to an output directly controlled by the GPU, such as possible compression artifacts and/or motion judder during times of high CPU and/or USB utilization, or simply when large portions of the display area are changing simultaneously.  Additionally, due to a Windows limitation, your GeForce dPGU would not be able to accelerate any content displayed on a DisplayLink-attached display. But about your specific issue, given that you're trying to run 4K, have you tried just swapping the HDMI cable?  Not all HDMI cables are equal when it comes to pushing very high bandwidth.  That said, I don't know if that system's HDMI port will even do 4K @ 60 Hz, since that requires HDMI 2.0 and most Dell systems I've seen have only had HDMI 1.4, which would limit you to 4K @ 30 Hz or 1440p @ 60 Hz.

Dear All,

Purchased HDMI to VGA converter, connected, monitor giving error message " CANNOT DISPLAY THIS VIDEO MODE Optimum resolution 1280 x 1024 60Hz". Tried with other LG LED monitor, working fine. Tried the below steps as per advice from few sites. No luck.
1. Tried to change the setting of monitor through laptop, no luck.

FYI
My Sat receiver giving output format as 720P.
Hope you understand my concern, expecting the solution.

Best Regards

A:Dell monitor E177FPb - Could not connect with Satellite Receiver through HDMI to VGA converter

720P is 1280 x 720  75Hz your monitor does not support that.  1280 x 1024 60hz interlaced is max.  This monitor is over 10 years old.

A:Laptop (Win7 Dell Inspiron 1525) won't connect to desktop (XP Dell) wireless router

Sometimes, you need to replace the router.
Sometimes, you can call your service provider and ask them to take a look on line to see if the subscription needs to be refreshed.
But often, all that is needed (despite the fact that it is a lot of work) is to uninstall your existing system, then reboot, and reinstall everything.
You might also find success by looking at your device manager in Windows to see if you have any grey, red, or yellow flags by any related device. That may show you have a permanent hardware failure if you cannot restore it, then you are off to the store or your provider for a new cable modem or router.

It is an Analog VGA.  The manufacture date was 2014..  It was purchased closer to 2015.  There is a dark shadow on the bottom right hand corner of the screen  It is about 1 inch high.  It extends about 2-3 inches across the bottom (Where time/date is).  Looking at the shadow it has a specific and static shape almost like a graph going UP (Up hill); you know the line on the graph from x-y?  It is a  giant blob, a shadow but does have a specific shape impacting only the bottom right.  The monitor was not placed near magnets, moved, hit, dropped or struck in any manner.  It is highly unlikely it was moved without my knowledge.  It was working amazing since the day I got it.  OVERNIGHT near a windows 10 update this shadow problem happened.I unplugged it and moved it around a bit.  I noticed tapping the bottom right (where the shadow is) does make it go away for 10-30 seconds.  So touching that area in the back (not the controls) somehow fixes the problem.  I do not know if this helps but the shadow is translucent (more grey than solid black)

A:W10 Anniv Update "Connect/Envy" app

Hi, Last year Microsoft released Windows 10 upgrade and gave it free for users who used Windows 7 or Windows 8/8.1 computers. After one year Microsoft released new version and stopped the freebie. That why we have W10 Anniv Update (also called Windows 10 1607). Regards.

Hi All: recently bought HP Envy 750-197c with dual HDMI, along with LG LED Monitor 24m47. For the life of me, I cannot get the computer to dispaly when connected via HDMI. I've tried different HDMI cords, connected other peripherals via HDMI to the monitor without any issues, and even tried connecting the computer to 2 different TVs via HDMI but nothing. Does anyone have any idea why I cannot get my computer to dispaly via HDMI on my monitor? Any help at this point would be great. Running Windows 10.

A:Envy 750-197c won't connect via HDMI

Hi there @johnjpas34,Welcome to the HP Support Forums! It is a great place to find the help you need, from other users, HP experts and other support personnel. I understand that you are having an issue with getting a display connected with HDMI to come up. I am happy to help with this. First, check out this: HP Desktop PCs - Connecting Monitors and TVs to Your PC (Windows 10, 8). Then be sure you have the drivers for the display installed. If there are not drivers specific to Windows 10, then try installing the older drivers using compatibility mode in Windows 10/ Please let me know how that works for you, and if it does resolve your issue, please mark this post as a solution. Kudos would also be appreciated.

Please excuse my ignorance on this topic in advance. I just purchased an HP Envy All-In-One.  Model 23o014; Product F3E94AA#ABA.  I'm running Windows 8.1.   I'm very happy with my purchase so far. I also purchased an AOC E2470Sw monitor and would like to connect this as a second monitor to the All-In-One. The AOC monitor has a VGA(? - 15 pin connector) connection), but also has two HDMI inputs.  I THOUGHT (with concurrence from my distracted salesman) that I could connect the two using the HDMI connectors on both machines, but I'm getting a blank screen on the AOC when I try it. What am I doing wrong? Thanks,Sally

A:Connecting a second monitor to an Envy All-In-One

Hi... The HDMI connector on the base is an input, not an output. For a second monitor, you would need to go with a USB to video adapter.

I have connected my speakers through the audio jack, set the audio to use the set audio to HP Envy 23-4 (Nvidia High Def Audio), it shows it is getting sound but no sound is actually coming out of the speakers. When I hook up the speakers to my sound card on my computer, everything is fine, but I am wanting to use the monitor's audio.Product number: E1K96AA

I have an HP Envy 27inch all in one PC and I would like to use it as a second monitor for my iMac occationally (mainly for Lightroom running on the Mac). I have a Miniport (iMac) to HDMI cable (for Envy) and have conected them both up and pressed the screen toggle on the underneath of the Envy's monitor.  The iMac does not find the monitor (or the other way around). On the iMac, no second screen option is showing on the dispay tab of "Preferences" so the iMac is not aware of the connection. According to the Apple pages, once you have plugged in the Envy and toggle the screen, the iMac should find it. I have plugged in my Microsoft Surface 3 (USB 3 to HDMI cable) into the Envey, hit toggle and it works straight away, so this might be an Apple problem of course. Any ideas anyone? Thanks
