Please Help! Viruses and now comp keeps crashing

Q: Please Help! Viruses and now comp keeps crashing

Okay I am praying you can help me. I have norton and microsoft anti spyware installed. On friday I clicked on a site link and somehow a virus got into my system, and then when I ran a scan I found several viruses/trojans/worms including, Navidad, transponder drpmon, transponder aurora, drsch, and god knows what else.

I went to another help site and ran all the scans THEY said to run including adaware se. Afterwards I restarted my comp and there were still pop ups on my system and spyware. I ran mic anti spyware and it seemed to have removed them. But now I have a new problem, ever since I ran the scans on my pc and tried to remove the viruses now my ie doesn't work properly nor my netscape navigator, IE will start up and then the window will close, and when I do get ie to run my comp shuts down on me and reboots by itself.

I have no idea what to do and I am at my wits end, im trying to hurry up and type this before my comp crashes again.

I hope you guys can help me.

Anyway I downloaded hijack this and this is my log:

Preferred Solution: Please Help! Viruses and now comp keeps crashing

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

Hey all, I'm new on this forum and I dont know much about the info that I'm supposed to put in here, I'm using Norton antivirus (Expired atm, going to buy new one soon) and I got some programs which I'm trying to use to delete these viruses;Combofix (Never used before, hope it will help me someday)
SDfix
CCleaner
Ad-Aware SE Personal
Spybot - Search&Destroy
Hijack This

I'm running Windows XP Professional with Service pack 2.

I explain what type of viruses/malware there are:Security Toolbar 7.1 (Appears next of navigating bar at Windows Explorer)
Fake antivirus (Bestseller Antivirus)
Fake System alerts that lead me to bestseller antivirus pages
Popups on Windows explorer (trying to change my starting page to some pornographic one)
And one running exe called: usnsvc.exe (dont know if it points on some named previously)

I dont know what else info I'm supposed to give you, but I think AD-aware is the best remover I got I cleaned those viruses once behore, but when I tried to remove one, that made my comp restart in that instant.
Also when I cleaned it once, I found out that the mentioned virus was bringing back the other ones and some more, I keep cleaning the ones I can out so my comp wont freeze and I can work freely.

My computer recently got 2 different viruses. I have the trojan Download-AVX and the trojan Generic.dx. Apparently they are both in my system files and I can't get rid of them I tried the stuff I know and what my roommate knows but none of its working.

Worst of all for some reason I no longer have icons when I start my computer, nor a toolbar and start menu. Everything I do has to be done through a backdoor. My computer performance is also down which is probably expectable.

I ran a Hijack log file because I saw most people did that. So any help would be well appreciated. Thanks.

My computer is running verrry slow and freezes. My CPU usage is showing ~10-60%+ and usully never runs that high.
I ran some scans with kaspersky, superantispyware and ad aware and removed and quarantined what i could with them. They picked up trojan.win32.monder. My IE is also running very slow; if it even loads or freezes up and also getting quite a few popups. I get a 'your computer is infected... scan to prevent erratic behaviour etc' pop up a lot. MSN freezes up also. I'm running windows XP pro, quad core q6600 2.4, 3gb ram. My windows autiomatic update is always turned off then i reboot/turn on my comp, and i always set it back to on. Double click on the HJTsetup.exe icon on your desktop.
By default it will install to C:\Program Files\HijackThis.
Continue to click Next in the setup dialog boxes until you get to the Select Additional Tasks dialog.
Put a check by Create a desktop icon then click Next again.
Continue to follow the rest of the prompts from there.
At the final dialog box click Finish and it will launch Hijack This.
Click on the Do a system scan and save a log file button. It will scan and then ask you to save the log.
Click Save to save the log file and then the log will open in notepad.
At the top of the Notepad HJT log screen, hit Edit then Select All then click Edit and then click Copy doing that copies the text to the clipboard, you won't see it yet....
Come back here to this thread and Paste the log in your next reply.
DO NOT have Hijack This fix anything yet. Most of what it finds will be harmless or even required.
A security expert with a gold shield to the right of their name should take a look at your log - please be patient.

An uknown pop-up said my computer's infected & asked me to run a program that would clean it up! I did run it halfway & cancelled realizing it might have been fake since the pop-up came when I was entering a website. Is my computer really infected???

A:Pop-up said to run program to clean comp from viruses!

Ok, sorry for the delay. This is a rogue anti-spyware program. When one of these is installed onto a computer it will be configured to start automatically when Windows starts. Once started it will perform a fake scan of your computer and then state that there are numerous infections present. If you attempt to remove any of these so-called infections with the program it will state that it is unable to do so until you purchase it. As none of the infection files actually exist on your computer, please disregard these scan results and do not purchase the program. So let's do these steps to get it off. Please click Start > Run, type inetcpl.cpl in the runbox and press enter.Click the Connections tab and click the LAN settings option.Verify if "Use a proxy..." is checked, if so, UNcheck it and click OK/OK to exit.Reboot into Safe Mode with Networking How to enter safe mode(XP/Vista)Using the F8 MethodRestart your computer. When the machine first starts again it will generally list some equipment that is installed in your machine, amount of memory, hard drives installed etc. At this point you should gently tap the F8 key repeatedly until you are presented with a Windows XP Advanced Options menu. Hey to whoever reads this thread. It appears I have gotten 3 viruses and am having trouble getting rid of them. The symptoms seem to be a much slower computer. Also, Internet Explorer occassionally opens trying to go to an antispyware website. Also I have a yellow triangle in the bottom corner telling me security alerts and to Download antispyware.

Any help you guys can give me will be appreciated. I currently have Trend Micro PCcillin, Ad-Aware 2007, Spybot Search and Destroy, AVG antispyware 7.5, and Smitfraud Fix. The last 4 were downloaded after getting the virus and checking out other forums and advice.

I have done a Clean of Smitfraud in safe mode and it didnt clean em up. I don't know much about viruses, but i have been viewing forums and advice, and was trying to clean it out myself.

The virus names are PSW.X-Vir, [email protected], and [email protected]

A:3 Viruses Found, Slowing my comp

I just remembered some more interesting things happening recently that I think I should report. A Critical System Warning window appears in the middle of my screen. It's not exitable and it asks me if I want to download antispyware. I don't want to hit No because I don't want more problems.

Also 2 new things continue to be on my Desktop and I think the respawn when I StartUP. I delete them and they come back after startup. They are "Live Safety Center" and "Online Security Guide". Live Safety Center has the Blue Icon of the Windows Shield with an exclamation point. Online Security Guide has a Green Icon of the Windows Sheild with a check mark.

Hello, For a couple days i have been attempting to fix my computer myself, but now i am asking help from you.
Continuous pop ups are slowing down my computer, (the url is always: http://adnetserver.com/?cmpname=vm_...888_b4fe4312+6401E5A8BACD4DE082E303FA191A22DB ) or windows saying that i have a certain virus and i need to have such and such and click OK to download and so on pop up also.

Spybot cannot seem to get rid of two problems named:
Advertising.com
Virtumonde.generic
(i also have ad aware)

I have also read various forums that relate to my problem and tried following the steps given...but the pop ups continue. Perhaps i am doing something wrong? I would greatly appreciate any help!
(This is additional information but i was also suspicious that this may be w?inspool.exe because AVG cannot seem to get rid of this.)

Welcome to TSG

IMPORTANT!: I highly recommend that you go to Windows update and install all "Critical Updates and Service Packs" except for
Service Pack 2 ASAP!. This will patch numerous security holes in IE and Windows. Many baddies get on your machine by taking
advantage of these vulnerabilities. As your machine stands now it is wide open to attack from all sorts of nasties. You need
to get these updates IMMEDITELY!

Download and unzip or install these programs/applications if you haven't already got them. If you have them, then make sure they are updated and configured as described
CWshredder from http://www.subratam.org/?page=removal
Spybot - Search & Destroy from http://security.kolla.de
Download Adaware SE http://www.lavasoftusa.com/support/download/
then
Run CWSHREDDER,

Close all browser windows, click on the cwshredder.exe then click "FIX" (Not "Scan only") and let it do it's thing.
and make sure you have all of Microsoft security updates

then reboot &

Run Sybot S&D

After installing, first press Online, press search for updates, then tick the updates it finds, then press download updates. Beside the download button is a little down pointed arrow, select one of the servers listed. If it doesn't work or you get an error message then try a different server

Next, close all Internet Explorer and OE windows, press 'Check for Problems', and have SpyBot remove all it finds that is marked in RED... Read more

Hi everyone, first time over here!

I've got a Dell Inspiron 6000 laptop, with Windows XP and two days ago it got overrun with viruses and god knows what. It was the popups which alerted me - my McAfee Security Centre didn't pick anything up on their scan, so I bought PC Tools Spyware Doctor, which did pick up viruses. I still had problems though so used the website hackerwatch.org's port scan to see where my comp weaknesses are - but it didn't detect any. Another Spyware Doctor scan picked up more viruses though. I also got the google toolbar to try and stop the popups but that had no effect.

So I got Ad-Aware 2007 and Windows Defender. My comp crashed while they were scanning, but when I rebooted my comp they both said my comp was clean.

It was running so slow I got rid of one of the security centres (the Spyware Doctor one).

Now the popups have stopped, but my comp is still really slow - when I type it keeps missing what I type; it can tell I've pressed a key 'cause it will leave a space, but it won't put the actual letter there, and it keeps missing the delete and space buttons. It takes ages to switch from window to window as well, and load up the pages initially.

Can anybody tell me if my comp is actually free of viruses etc now? And is my comp screwed from them or can I get it working the way it used to?

I'll post my hijackthis log below - really hope someone can help! Thanks for taking the time to read this!

How to find and post your Minidump Files:

My Computer > C Drive > Windows Folder > Minidump Folder > Minidump Files.

It is these files that we need (not the folder). Attach to your next post the five most recent dumps. Notice the Manage Attachments button at the bottom when you go to post the next time. Hello, not sure if this is a hardware problem or a software problem. But my brother's computer is crashes spontaneously, usually when he either runs a game or is using internet explorer(tho one time he left his computer on and left the room and came back and it was off, then he got an error message and we had to use the recovery console to fix it). Anyways, it works now, thought highly doubt it will stop from crashing again unless I do something. What steps would I take to ensure that it won't do that?

He's got windows xp home and avg free virus protector, windows defender, and I have ran the defrager, disc cleanup, scan disk, and scanned with windows defender and the avg free. Is there any other measures I can take to maybe fix an internal system error that keeps crashing his computer? or do you think its his ram cards(running dual 1 gig sticks, so 2 gigs total) or processor that's doing this?

Any help would be great. Thankyou and sorry if I posted this in the wrong category.

A:Comp keeps crashing

We would have no way of diagnosing the problem unless we have the error codes.

Do you receive a blue screen when it crashes?

Navigate to C:/Windows/minidump. If there any files there - zip them up and upload to your post.

For some reason my comp is crashing after about 2 minutes of being switched on. Very frustrating!! I have done a housecall scan which showed up a few things but would not delete one specific infection. I will try and get the name of it for you.

In the meantime I have a HJT log just in case there is anything on there. By the way, I did the log whilst in safe mode but will reboot and do another one for normal Windows.

Thanks in advance...

Not sure where to post this but after playing World of Warcraft or too much multimedia playing, comp would crash. It would just freeze up.

It all started when I fooled around with Regedit and played around with the memory management and page pool size settings etc. I've set it back to what it was before but that didnt seem to have done anything.

Im thinking it had something to do with that or perhaps memory if not overheating.

How can I pinpoint my problem more?

Any scanners I can download etc?

last week I started having random crash issues (when turning on comp after leaving it in sleep), it seemed to have a long pause when turning on, i would get a message that boot failed from BIOS, I would reset and it would start up the 2nd time with "windows did not shutdown properly" message, I also had other issues appear so I re-installed windows about a week back...well.. went to turn on comp tonight and nothing was happening for a while, then eventually it started with the "Windows did not shutdown properly" message... I left the computer in a sleep state last night, she used it this afternoon, she said she went too shutdown but it reported I was logged in so she walked away from it, so it should sleep after 10 minutes...

...anyway, when it started the avast service was running and set to automatic in the services menu...I had this service set too manual in both her and my account with the tray icon set not too load either - basically I dont have it running but I have it installed so i can load it when I want with my ON/OFF scripts... the event viewer doesnt say anything other than shutdown at 4pm ish was unexpected... personally I think its shutdown illegally for some reason, but when booting immediately after one of these "crashes" it crashes again...th... Hi, my comp has several problems. It is very slow and it's very slow when i open things or freezes when i open things. So I ran a couple programs, like the AVG antivirus scanner, Ad-Aware, Advanced System Care Optimizer and they said i had alot of viruses, so I tried to remove as much as i could, but some still can't be removed, like some trojans, etc.

PSU- Apevia 680W(old PSU) and Corsair CX750M(new PSU)
GPU- Radeon 6750HD(old GPU) and GeForce GTX 650TI(new GPU)
MOBO- Asus Evo AXT (about 4 years old)
RAM- 2x4GB dual-channel 1600hz corsair
My issues started when I decided to upgrade my GPU to the GeForce 650TI. I got it, plugged it in and all that goodness, but my games kept crashing. At first, my PC would say that the drivers were crashing. I, being stupid, decided to keep the card and fight through it until the drivers were updated and would be more stable. The crashes didn't stop, however. Then came the BSOD. It's constant and unpredictable. The only time it happens is when I'm gaming, but it can happen once every 5 hours or once every 20 minuets (lately, more frequently). So, I finally was able to afford a new PSU today, as everything I've read said that MUST be the problem. It didn't do anything whatsoever. SO, with the new PSU and new GPU in, I decided to put my old GPU in and see what happened. Logically, taking steps to make sure none of the drivers were overlapping, ect. I assumed it would work. Nope. New PSU and old GPU, still constantly getting blue screens, even at low video settings in the game. I'm not running other programs or background operations. No antivirus, ect. I've been into my BIOS to look at my 12v fluctuation and on the old PSU it's between 11.76 and 12.03 and on the new one it's between 11.97... Read more

My friend says her computer is running really slowly. Here is an HJT log. She has a gig of ram so it seems like it shouldn't be running badly. I ran Ccleaner, spybot, deleted temp files, prefetch, did some basic cleaning up. But HJT is getting error messages, so i figured I'd post this first.

I got this error and another one when I ran the HJT. The other one I popped up twice but got replaced on the clipboard by this one it seems. After I ran it a second time the error did not pop up.

recently (like within the past few days) my comp has been crashing constantly, not with the usual stuttering followed by the blue screen of death, but just straight up shutting down suddenly, the computer itself turns off, then reboots itself a few seconds later

my computer had been crashing a lot the "normal" way awhile back, but i was pretty sure it was due to a rootkit virus, and i was able to fix that, it hadn't crashed in months, and now this started

I'm posting this from my brothers laptop because my comp crashes so often that i wouldn't have time to post this from my computer

i am desperate for help and i don't really know what to do or where to go, please let me know if you need any more information and i'll do my best to provide it

Lets see if the BSOD dump file(s) can tell us whats going on.

Then lets have a look at the temps and voltages >
D/L and run Hardware Monitor do something intense like a virus scan or gaming for a bit, Alt+Tab back to HWM expand all the trees and use the Win7 snipping tool to grab a screen shot of the HWM window, post the screen shot using the paperclip button in the advanced message box(Go Advanced button).

Hi,

With my laptop, It seems to crash and stops responding after a while. I think my computer has a small bug but I cant run any scans because the laptop crash's. Even if its left on then after some time the laptop will slow downs its response time with opening something as small as a txt file and the mouse will stop responding and then just move slow.

Programs I have:
Windows Vista (Basic)
Kaspersky Anti Virus,
Spybot Search & Destory,
Spysweeper,
Ad-Aware

When i run them they just stop responding as does the laptop. Is it a security issue or is there something I can do?
The memory usage seems to be a bit high as this image shows.

I do have 1.5GB RAM

Please help, my computer crashes randomly, when i say freezing, i mean the screen turns blue and it makes the computer restart, where i have the option of starting windows normally or in safe mode or save mode with networking. I chose safe mode with networking and things have been working ok like this, Its not when i open any specific program, it can happen as soon as my computer starts up or after my comp been working for a while. Also, since this started happening, my internet expolorer doesnt work anymore, it will usually say that internet exploror has stopped working and windows is checking for a solution, which it never finds, and it shuts it down. i have to use google chrome to get on the internet. I dont know anything about computers, i tried to restore it to an earlier date but it wont let me do that and everytime i turn on my computer the normal way (im in safe mode now) an error sign from norton comes up saying 5013,3 is wrong with it and how to fix it, but that didnt work either. When I start up Counter Strike: Source, It sometimes makes my monitor screen go black other than a light blue box with a white border, which says "No Signal Input Check Video Cable". I did the obvious thing, checked my video cable, nothing changed, same thing happened. My friend fooled around with it, fixed it . 2 Months later (now) the same thing happened , i checked the video cable, nothing, i asked my friend again, nothing. This doesn't always go to a black screen at the main menu, but when playing the game . Is this due to my video card? Or something else? Should i re-install the drivers? My video card is a Nvidia 9500 GT (got it for christmas in 08)
When the screen goes black, the sound still is there, although it repeats the sound my computer does not turn off either.
