I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

Just wondering if someone can tell me why

About a month or alittle more ago this person that has a windows 98 computer was having a problem, where her computer would start up in safe mode once in awhile and even when it was in normal mode it would look like it does in safe mode. Anyway I got a newer driver for there video card and installed it and everything cleared up right away. everything was really good.

Today she called and said it started in safe mode and looked fuzzy.
I went over there and it was in normal mode but looked like it was in safe mode kind of the same thing as before.

I still had the new driver on a cd so I went to device manager and click on the display adapter and went to the driver part and clicked on new driver and pointed it toward the cdrom and it installed the driver again and everything cleared right back up like it did the first time it was installed.

The first time the driver need updateing it was old and never had been.
Why would it get corrupted now or what ever happened and then installed the new driver again took care of it. Is there another problem I should be looking at also? or am I going to have to keep reinstalling the driver? If it happens again. Can someone enlighten me?? Thanks

A:Windows 98--video card, driver problem??

In the past, I had a virus that would randomly delete drivers. I had to reformat the HD. Suggest doing a virus scan. I've had viruses that weren't detected by a scan. Wait for other suggestions before you decide to reformat, however.

Hello,

Ever since I had to re-install Windows XP, my video card hasn't been performing as well as it used to. Any graphics-heavy games or even screensavers just run terribly. I have an nVIDIA RIVA TNT2/TNT2 PRO, and I've read online that the Creative Labs RIVA TNT2 driver ver. 44.04 for XP should be the latest and best driver available for it (my current driver is the 44.03 driver from nVIDIA's driver page). Note that the 44.03 driver is an .exe file, whereas the 44.04 driver from Creative comes in .zip form, forcing a manual installation...

Anyway, I went to run the Hardware Update Wizard so I could point it to my newly extracted 44.04 driver files and update the driver. My steps were as follows:

1. Display Properties
2. Settings
3. Advanced
4. Adapter
5. Properties
6. Driver
7. Update Driver
8. "Install from a list or specific location" (next)
9. "Don't search. I will choose the driver to install." (next)
10. Have Disk...
11. Browse... (then I point to the folder where I have extracted the driver files, and click OK)
12. Next
13. A window comes up telling me the driver is not Windows Logo verified. I've read that this is supposed to happen. I click "Continue Anyway".

At this point, things seem to be going well, until I get this message:

"Copy Error

Setup cannot copy the file nv4_mini.sy_.

A:Solved: Video Card Driver Upgrade

ATI has a newer driver out, Catalyst 5.13. Visiontek only posts a link to the same driver that ATI provides so I'd always get the one from the ATI website as it may be newer, as in this case.

Here's the link: https://support.ati.com/ics/support/default.asp?deptID=894&task=knowledge&questionID=640

They offer two different downloads for the same driver. One is the full package and the other is just broken up into three parts for dial-up users with slow connections.

So you'd want the: High Speed (Cable / DSL) Catalyst Control Center Package Download 1 of 1 34.2 12/21/05 Display and WDM Drivers included in this bundle

Are you sure the graphics card is seated properly ? Try reseating the card. If you can hear the rest of your system start, then graphics card could be the cause, otherwise it may be other components.

I have a Westinghouse TV that I'm using as a monitor. I don't have a specific driver for it, nor do I think one exists. The generic Windows monitor driver worked fine for about a month with Windows 8 (via new Lenovo desktop ? which pumped out 1920x1080 over HDMI, and which is the native resolution of the monitor. Life was good!)

Yesterday morning I updated to 8.1, and today I'm letterboxed. The image is clear and the correct aspect ratio, but it's just smaller and I'm wasting a couple inches of screen space all around. I've tried changing the resolution and rebooting various times. At one point the imaged pulled all the way out, left/right, but not top/bottom. It's the Lenovo/AMD-Radeon/Win8.1 machine ? not the monitor which still works fine with other machines. (albeit via VGA, not HDMI ? which is a manual source setting change in the monitor.)

- Westinghouse EW39T4LZ 39" 1080p 60Hz LCD HDTV
- AMD Radeon HD 7560D (Lenovo box)
- Windows 8.1 (online update from 8 OEM)

This is the problem since updating to 8.1 ? some kind of driver update-problem-something.

I'm thinking I delete the AMD Radeon HD 7560D line-item from my Device Manager, and then when I reboot, it will be found and reinstalled. That's what I would have done with XP anyway.

Or I could uninstall the driver from within the AMD Radeon properties window above (Drivers tab) ? but I'm afraid I will lose the screen and a reboot won't fix that, and then I'm stuck with re-imaging the OS fro... Read more

you might benefit from using a detonator destroyer program to remove all traces of the nvidia card drivers. Then delete the drivers that windows is installing and do not reboot. Trun off system restore then reboot. Install the standard VGA adaptor for windows then reboot.
Install your nvidia drivers then reboot.
Turn on system restore again.

I think installing the latest drivers for my new video card have caused a problem. When I was using some slightly older drivers (those that came with the BF2 demo), movies on my comp would play fine. Then I installed the new Nvidia driver (77.72) for my eVGA 256-A8-N344-AX Geforce 6800GT 256MB 256-bit GDDR3 AGP 4X/8X Video Card and now the colors are faded and pale. Though this is only for movies, my games play and look fine.

I would like to fix this. The first and obvious solution would be to use the drivers I was using before this. But, seeing as they were beta drivers that only came with the BF2 demo and there are problems with having the demo and full game on your comp and trying to get rid of just one, I'd rather not go back to those drivers. I've also always been under the impression that the latest drivers should always be used for all your hardware. So, how can I fix this and can it be done while keeping the 77.72 nvidia driver?

Hello. I am currently running Windows XP Pro with SP2 on a Dell with P4 3GHz.

Since my computer came with onboard graphics, I bought a vision tek ati radeon 9250 with a pci interface (no agp slots on my motherboard) to replace it. After a difficult driver installation a few months ago, my computer was running fine. I then began playing GTA Vice City a few days ago and thats when my computer started acting up. My screen would go blank at random times, so I decided to try system restore. After system restore however, my monitor only began working in safe mode (after booting up in normal mode, my screen would always go blank after the windows xp sign showed up). I found it odd that my video card only seemed to be working in safe mode.

So thinking my video card might have melted, I pulled it out of the pci slot and examined it...and found that it looked fine (no damage). So then I went into safe mode, uninstalled all ATI related drivers and software (while keeping my onboard graphics driver intact), restarted the computer and entered safe mode again, and tried to install the newest drivers from vision teks website. However, after extracting the driver...the auto intall program would initialize and then give me the following errors:

INF error, video driver not found

Setup was unable to complete the installation. Try to setup your display adapter with a standard VGA driver before running setup.

I tried installing the drivers from the CD that came with the video card... Read more

A:Problem installing video card driver!!!

problem fixed

PROBLEM FIXED!!!!! Thanks for the responses guys, I actually used Driver cleaner and the driver still wasn't installing. So I called Vision Tek again for help (like the fifth time this week) and I finally got a technician who knew what the error message meant. The solution was pretty simple: disable the onboard graphics driver, eventhough Dell told me that setting the graphics option to "auto" in bios would be enough and I should not disable the onboard graphics driver. When I told the vision tek technician that Dell told me that I didn't have to do that and that the motherboard should recognize the new video card in my pci slot and automatically disable the onboard graphics, the technician laughed and said Dell technicians were *****s. So I tried his advice (uninstalled all old ATI drivers and then disabled the onboard driver through device manager) then restarted the computer and just like that I got picture in normal mode, and I was able to install the new ati drivers without the error message.

What a relieff!!!

If anyone else is getting "INF error, video driver not found" I guess the best thing to do is to disable the onboard graphics driver through device manager (and of course set it off or to auto in bios), EVEN IF DELL TECHNICIANS SAY YOU DONT HAVE TO...they obviously don't know what they're talking about.

Thanks again everyone!

The pattern is that it is usually fine with playing music, and usually 1 video file. After that 1 video file, or randomly while viewing the library while playing music, it crashes the whole computer essentially. The screen blacks out and every 30 seconds cycles through off, the "step" up grey, and a washed out color, usually blue but lately kinda-orange.

I've tried doing the Windows troubleshooter for WMP. Uninstalled, restarted, reinstalled, restarted. Windows Update is up to date. I even updated my mobo's integrated graphics card: ATI Radeon HD 4950 to CCC version 12.8. I also updated my codec pack (since 1 of the vids in question was a .mov). Nothing is helping...

Help? Other suggestions?

A:WMP problem or video card/driver? WMP crashes...

Have you tried updating your BIOS? There are several for system stability (latest version is 2301) for your mobo. Have you updated your chipset driver? You may need to check that with AMD for a current version.

http://www.ati.com/support/drivers/...c&prod=products2kdriver&submit.x=4&submit.y=3

The DELL website would have the drivers for the old card under your system downloads.

Oh, wait this is a laptop isn't it? If so ignore everything above this.

You should have recieved a driver CD with the new card - you must run the setup on this CD to install the new drivers.

Welcome to Windows Seven Forums.

It would be helpful if you tell us exactly what you've done rather than just generalising by saying you've tried everything, which could mean all or nothing. It also stops people wasting time searching for possible solutions that you may have already tried.

Have you tried installing a Vista driver in Compatibility Mode for Windows Vista?

If the specs move with the models and their textures, it just looks like anomalies that the graphics card for whatever reason can't display right. If this doesn't do it on new games, I wouldn't be worried.

And it's always a good idea to keep a clean PC

Had no issues for a long time then started to have some freezing and crashing to desktop problems with video games (The Witcher, Guild Wars 2, etc.) as well as Nvidia drivers failing and then recovering (causing the video in games to freeze and Firefox to turn all white).

Eventually I decided to get a new video card (went from a GTX 660 to a MSI R9 290) and a new 750 watt psu for the new card (Corsair CX750M). I uninstalled all Nvidia drivers and installed the latest drivers from AMD.

Now I along with the other problems I also have the problem of the computer freezing at (as far as I can tell) random times. My only recourse is to restart at that point. The freezing occurs between 3 minutes and 1/2 hour from start up.

Have done/tried the below:
I do not over clock.
I have checked my RAM with Memtest86+ and it passes with flying colors.
Checked RAM timings in the BIOS. They were fine.
I have updated my BIOS (no freezing for 30 minutes made me think that was it....then it started freezing again).
Tried installing earlier drivers for the R9 290.
I have done an 'upgrade' to Win7 to see if that would fix the issue. I would like to avoid a clean install if at all possible.
I have looked at temperatures and see no issues. At the last crash, while watching a youtube video:
CPU - 35 C
Motherboard - 27 C
GPU - 40 C
Hard drives - 37 C, 34 C, 35 C

When in safe mode or when the AMD drivers are uninstalled and it is running off the motherboard default drivers there are no issues.

A:Win 7 freezing randomly. Possible video card/driver problem?

Well thanks for all the help and support...... :-/

For anyone experiencing something similar; my problem was that the PCIe slot that the video card was plugged into was bad / damaged. When I plugged the card into the other PCIe x16 slot everything worked fine.

So there you go. I guess not everything is a software issue.

The current video card may support Aero with a driver that is compliant with the Windows Display Driver Model (WDDM). Contact the manufacturer of your computer or video card for a WDDM-compatible driver.

Hi there,
i recently installed a nVidia quadro fx 1700 in my dell optiplex760 MT, i have installed windows 8.1 on it
but the correct drivers were not available on the windows so i downloaded the drivers from official website, when i installed the driver, some green and red lined blocks appeared on the screen. When i roll back the drivers the blocks disappear.
can anyone help me?
Thanks in advance.

A:Video Graphics Card driver problem Optiplex760 MT

It appears that you have solved the issue through your own troubleshooting. You tested the newest Nvidia driver which showed the issue while an older driver did not, so the fault is with the newer driver, not the video card or the operating system. All you can do is wait for Nvidia to come out with another driver to test.

Hi,

I used to play games for hours in my laptop. Now if I run any game whether new or old, it runs for a minute or two and then my pc shuts down. No shut down procedure or any such thing, just turns off.

I tried installing different versions of Driver available for my NVIDIA GEForce GT 540M and the results were the same.

When I uninstall all the NVIDIA drivers then the games work fine but they use the intel graphics and not the video card so the quality is quite poor with much lag and stutter. So, it must be a problem with either the video card or some software problem. I was thinking of reinstalling windows but thought of consulting you guys before. Any suggestions?

P.S. It's not overheating issue, I thoroughly checked.

I purchased a 3Dfuzion 6200 LE graphics card about a months ago and installed it on a brand new Nvidia based MSI K8N Neo4-f motherboard with AMD 64X2 3200 Processor. I am running Windows XP with all of the latest updates.

After installing the graphics card and the driver from the included CD, I went to the Device Manager and looked under "Display Adapters". It said I had an Nvidia GeForce 7300 LE Graphics card. I uninstalled the driver and went over to www.nvidia.com and downloaded the latest driver for the GeForce 6200 LE and installed it. I went back to the Device Manager and it said the same thing as before. Thinking that maybe the card might have accidentally gotten switched at the factory and it was actually a GeForce 7300 LE instead of a GeForce 6200 LE that was in the box, I open the case and looked at the card itself to see what was written on it. It very clearly say GeForce 6200 LE on the graphics card itself. I decided to leave well enough alone. If the card was working okay, why worry about what it say in the device manager? But the problem is that everything is not alright. Certain graphics applications run just fine where others cause the system to crash, and yet others reveal definite graphics problems (Distorted text, wrong colors etc.). All of these programs were working fine before I installed the 3Dfuzion GeForce 6200 LE card.

So the bottom line is, something is wrong. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the graphics driver over 1... Read more

Hello all! I just re-formatted my system. Win 95/200mhz 64 ram. I have an Iomagic video card and downloaded the drivers, but when I restart, the screen stays blank. I believe it is my monitors refresher rate. My default setting now is standard display adapter vga. Problem is I dont know what kind of monitor this is!!!!!! It was one of those no-names that I got at an office store. It had one page of instructions, and that I can not find. No name on the back of it or anywhere else I see. Is there a site that has generic drivers that I can get more than the basic 16 colors I now do? The drivers on my win95 cd do nothing. Is this even my problem, or am I way off? As usual, thanks for the help! Mike.

If you haven't cleaned your PC for a while, it could have dust build-up causing it to overheat, hence the white dot artefacts. It could also just be poor models in the game. Its hard to say at this point.

Download Speccy here Speccy - System Information - Free Download and see what temperature your graphics card is running at, and report back here with that.

When i scroll through the chat it goes back and forth between these symbols, and regular letters. i have a Vista, and i attached a file showing the problem. so far i've only disabled Anti-Aliasing on Catalyst Control Center, everything else is default

A:Video Card Driver Update Caused Problem

Try going into device manager (rt click computer then properties, then hardware or device manager depending on your OS), rt click your display adapter, then properties, click on drivers tab and select 'roll back driver'.
If this fixes your problem you will know it was the driver update that screwed it up, otherwise it may be your card that has become faulty.

Hi I have a HP PC running the following:

MS Windows XP MediaCenter Edition v. 2002 with SP 2
Intel Pentium 4 2.53GHz with 512MB of RAM
Nvidia GeForce FX5500 with driver 6.14.11.7519

All were running fine before I upgraded to SP 2 last weekend and now after the upgrade whenever I run a program that seems graphic intensive the PC will go blank for 1-2 seconds, recover, go blank again, sometime having problem redrawing the screen with altered colors or frozen image, and sometimes I even get the blue screen of death with nv_disp error. I am not even talking about games, something as simple as Youtube with large screen or Real video player will cause the problem. I think there maybe a conflict with my graphic card setting or driver but I tried upgrading to the latest as you can see.

Any suggestions? Trying to go back to SP 1 using Restore does not go back to SP 1 any longer.

A:Problem with graphic card/driver after XP Services Pack 2 upgrade

Hello cougar91 and Welcome to TSF.
NV_Disp error is a Nvidia video driver which in your case seems to be corrupted. I would uninstall the old driver and reinstall the newer driver. Go here to find newest driver http://www.nvidia.com/Download/index.aspx?lang=en-us.

Hello all,
As subject I upgraded my system with Windows 10 for this DELL laptop (i7 - F8C4K42).
After the installation I have found a problem related to the video driver, basically the ATI is not working as expectation  also if I use "configure switchable graphic" to force the ATI to work, this option seems not switching the video card.

I thought it was a problem related to the drivers so I downloaded a latest version of them (below the version used at that time)AMD Radeon R7 M270 Graphics Driverv15.200.1040.0 (A01) June 25, 2015Unfortunately I couldn't installed due an unexpected issue. (below the log of it)

A:Video Driver cannot be installed after windows 10 upgrade

Hi Daniele0786,
I encountered the problem myself today, as choosing the INSTALL option will lead to a failure like you, and choosing EXTRACT option will result in nothing extracted. So I think the procedure of the .EXE file is not working propably. I tried this SOLUTION and it worked well for me. You have to extract the .EXE manually, using 7-Zip.
1. Download and install 7-Zip from http://www.7-zip.org/2. Open 7-Zip and browse to the folder containing the exe.3. Right click on the exe file and click "Open Inside".4. Double click a folder inside if needed to get to the files.5. Select the files you need by clicking on them while holding down the ctrl key.6. Right click on the selected files and click "Copy To".7. Type a path or click on the "..." button to browse for a folder.8. Click Ok.
Remember to extract each driver to one folder and name it so you won't mistake one for another. The content of the .EXE (the driver) should be extracted completely, then you can choose the Setup file(it is the file with "Application" type) to manual install it. Done!
Hope this works for you.
Cheers,
HsHero

A:video card driver on windows 10

Hi, Welcome to the HP Support forum. Officially there are no Windows 10 drivers available for your computer - it is a bit older and created long before Windows 10 first was announced/appeared. HP does not officially support Windows 10 on this device >> http://h20564.www2.hp.com/hpsc/swd/public/readIndex?sp4ts.oid=4145200 There are also not Win10 drivers for this ATI/AMD Radeon version. There is a small chance to find some driver but there absolutely no guaratee it will function properly. You can open Control Panel >> Device Manager, find the device listed under Unknown or under video cards, right click it and choose to upgrade its driver. Here is how to >> http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/insider/wiki/insider_wintp-insider_devices/how-to-install-and-upd... Also, make sure all Windows Updates are downloaded.  If this does not help, I'd recommend you return back to your previous Windows version such as Win 7 or 8. If you decide to do so and if you need assistance with this, please reply back and I'll get back to you with instructions. Looking forward to your reply/feedback.
