I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I'll keep it short. I have tried to access POGO as I have before. Now I'm getting an error message that the game I wanted to load will not because of an Error! You need Java to do this and I have loaded the latest Java from Oracle at least 10 times. Same error. I made sure all Java Icons are enabled through out my system. I am using Vista with IE 8. I used POGO troubling shooting to find any issues. The test for Java and the POPUP blocked tests come back fine and it says to enjoy my game, but when I try again the game fails to come up and I again get the error message.

I tried to contact HP of course I'm out of coverage. I tried to go online to chat with HP, as I found that they will help but, now the help line is also having problems with Java. They do not see it...
I get the message "No Java Support. Please install java virtual machine". I tried to reinstall Java again and it tells me that I'm up to date and no installation is needed.

I have been working on this problem for 2 weeks.... I'm retired and can not afford to pay someone...

Please help if you can Please.... Thanks

One of the problems I am having right now is the fact that I cannot seem to be able to use anything Java. I keep getting told I need Java Virtual Machine.

Anybody know where I can get this from and is it free?

Thanks for your help in advance and yes I know I am silly I did read about it but forgot where to get it.

It's free, but due to a row between Microsoft and Sun.com MS isn't offering it as a separate download any more.

I am having problems getting Java virtual machine installed on my work computer. The computer is PC (P III at 450 with 128 megs of RAM), running Windows 98 and using IE 6.
At several web sites, I click on certain links and I get a message that I need to install "Java virtual machine." I go through the whole process of downloading the software, installing it, restarting the computer. But, the next time I try to click on the link that I wanted, I again get the message to install JVM. I have done this about four times now, and I'm stumped.
In the IE 6 "Advanced" tab, I have all the Java elements enabled. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

I don't think you need to uninstall the Microsoft Java Virtual Machine.

Microsoft no longer, for legal reasons, support or offer it.

Go to SunMicrosystems website and install theirs. As far as I know, no one has had any problems with it.

I was wondering what a Java Virtual Machine was. Sometimes when I visit a certain website it says that I can't view it because It don't have this machine. For all intents and purposes, the JVM is a program that processes java code. You can find it at http://www.java.com/en/index.jsp

I transferred via the "wizard" my files and settings in XP to my new computer. I could not open some of my sites that required Java. One of the site said it would download Microsoft Virtual Machine. I pressed download, and was taken to the Windows home page, which said Windows does not support downloading of VM anymore, and that I could check the update site.

Which, of course, did not say I needed any updates. I checked the updates I put in, and saw nothing of Microsoft VM.

On my old machine, in Tools-Advanced, there is a whole Java section. In my new machine, there is no Java section.

Anyone know how I can get Microsoft VM or Java that works like it? It is no longer available on Microsoft's site as a download for xp.

Appreciate some assistance.

Have a friend who likes to view the Chicago Sun-Times sports section for hoop scores, etc. He has a shortcut on his desktop to do so.

Every time he goes to the website, an 'Install on Demand' prompt shows up. He gets the message: To display this page correctly you need to download and install the following: Java Virtual Machine. The website keeps asking for the most recent version of the Microsoft Virtual Machine.

The PC was bought brand new about 6 weeks ago. It is running Windows XP Home. You would thing the latest version of the Microsoft Virtual Machine would already be installed.

Downloading the Microsoft VM is always an option, but he does not get the prompt on any other websites, only on the one for the Chicago Sun-Times????

Any thoughts?

A:Java Virtual Machine

the simple solution is to reinstall java. this at least would let you know quickly, if it is a java issue, or an issue with windows. since this is a virus related issue, I would also suggest you get back to the expert that was helping you or repost on this matter (describing the virus problem) in the malware forums. They are permitted and certified via training programs to help you look deeper and see if something was missed. I might even do this before messing with java at all, but that is up to you.

Critical Java Bug Targets Java Virtual Machine
By Ian Betteridge, ExtremeiPod
November 23, 2004

A highly critical vulnerability in Sun Microsystems Inc.'s Java plug-in has been discovered by a Finnish security consultant. The vulnerability could potentially allow a Web page to turn off Java's security feature and execute malicious code on a compromised machine.

The vulnerability affects JRE (Java Runtime Environment) Versions 1.4.2_05 and prior, Versions 1.4.1 and 1.4.0, and Version 1.3.1_12 and prior, running on Windows, Solaris and Linux. JRE Versions 1.4.2_06 and 1.3.1_13 and later are unaffected, and Sun recommends that all users upgrade their Java installations as soon as possible in order to avoid this vulnerability. Third-party JVMs (Java Virtual Machines), such as Microsoft Corp.'s, are not affected.

The bug, discovered by Finnish security consultant Jouko Pynnonen and detailed on Sun's Web site, allows a malicious user to create a Web page that uses JavaScript to transfer objects to an untrusted Java applet for some private classes used internally by the Java Virtual Machine. This could be used to turn off Java's security system, disabling the "sandbox" mechanism that should prevent untrusted applets from gaining access to the system.

Once the sandbox restrictions are disabled, a malicious Java applet could be used to compromise... Read more

Hello everyone,

I am having a problem with XP. I clean installed and everything went fine. When I go to a site to play an online game, my system comes up with an error and/or reboots. The error says I don't have enough Ram and something about an error with JAVA. I have 512 ram right now. I took that out and put in my 256 chip to see if maybe the ram is bad and it looks as if both are fine. So I tried again and as it loads the game, poof, it auto reboots.

I never had this problem with ME.

RELEVANCY SCORE 72.4

I just installed Windows XP Pro and there are certain sites when I go to...A pop up comes it stating that I need to download Java Virtual Machine. Normally windows loads it up automatically. But I read on the Microsoft site that there was some conflict between sun systems and microsoft and they could not load these up with XP. The microsoft site stated that they will be releasing a service pack (sp1) for windows XP whcih wil include the Java virtual Machine. But they didn't mention when this will be. There are a lot of sites that I access that I can't get into without the java virtual machine. Does anyone know where I can download a copy that would work with XP until that service pack comes out.Thanks.

Hi

What java virtual machine do you recommend to best go with windows xp and IE6?
I need IE6, so I will not use netscape or any other java-supported browsers.
I know there is an MS and a Sun machines, which is better?
Or is there any other choices please?
