Stream 11 won't factory reset or boot

Q: Stream 11 won't factory reset or boot

My otherhalf has a Stream 11 on windows 10, it all started when the screen would just go black and freeze. The memory had about 500mb left and she said to clear the whole thing and start from scratch. So I tried doing a factory reset, chose not to keep personal files. It got to 62% and said it had failed, now when I try to start it, it gets to the HP logo and thats as far as it goes. The screen goes off, comes back on, shows the HP logo then goes off again. I've tried the Factory reset, I've tried keeping personal files all to no avail. It came with windows 10 preloaded so I don't have a copy that I can use. I've been trying to sort this for the last 5 days and I'm currently contemplating putting an angle grinder through. However, I don't think my good lady would appreciate me doing this, so I was wondering if anyone has any other ideas?? All help greatly appreciated

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hello,I have HP Stream 14-ax003nc laptop. Friend jokingly started it in SysPrep and the laptop now won't boot (as HP laptops don't support SysPrep mode). It usually can be undone by doing the factory reset. Whenever I try to do that, it just fails immediately with no error message. It just says "We have failed to do factory reset."  What shoul I do? Thanks

At some point in my owning this product (in the last 4-5 months), I had received a low disk space warning, so I started to uninstall programs that I thought I didn't need. I may have removed something that was necessary for another program to use, but I don't know what that might have been. All the programs I was removing were pre-installed on my notebook. Is there a way to factory reset my notebook to its original settings before I started uninstalling like crazy? or to see what I might have uninstalled so I can re-install? And even after I removed programs I still get the "Low Disk Space" warning, despite backing up all my personal files to my SD card and cleaning out the "Downloads" folder -- since everything seems to go there, which makes me think this computer NEVER had space to begin with. HELP pLEASE!

Like others, our Stream hard drive is full and the computer is now nothing more than an expensive paperweight. I was attempting to do a hard reset. However, due to a bad battery, this has been impossible. I turn on the machine and start tapping f11, but a warning about the battery appears and disrupts that making it impossible to get to the proper screen.  If not for the Windows updates eating up the hard drive, it would still work as long as it's plugged in,  bad battery or not.  Is there a way around the stupid message or a way to kill it? I will not be buying another Stream. We've loaded no programs on it. It was just for web browsing and watching Netflix.

So I have the HP Stream Notebook and it's been working all well and fine. However I was going to give the computer to a friend and wanted to perform a reboot so he can receive the laptop all "new" and clean. Also my microsoft email got hacked and I never was able to recover it so being able to log in to the laptop was kind of a no go. However when I tried to perform a reset and wipe all the files the computer said it was unable to. I can't even see the log in option anymore it just displays HP and a black screen. Only thing I could do is turn it on and press F11 to see the troubleshooting menu, but everytime I try to reset it still won't work, it goes up to 37% and then it says it was unsuccessful with rebooting the laptop. I can't return it since there's no warranty but is there any hope for my laptop? This friend really needed it...

Some options: Press the F11 key when powering up to attempt running the recovery utility.Order the recovery media from HP and boot from that. I am not sure what recovery program you downloaded, I do not believe the recovery media from HP is available for download? You could also try a fresh install of Windows 10, instructions are here.

Hi,I would perform a clean install of Windows 10. You can get a free copy directly from Microsoft by downloading media creation tool and running. You will need to do this on another computer and choose when you have launched media creation tool " To install on another PC". Create a bootable USB drive with the same edition of Windows 10 already installed on the computer which is not working. You will need 4GB pendrive.  https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10 You will need to change boot order in Bios and boot the PC from Pendrive and install Windows 10. I always prefer a clean install on my PCs. Windows 10 will automatically activate once installed and connected to internet.  Let me know if you need further help,David

Howdy,  So, I have a HP Stream 11 that came with Windows 10 installed. However, there was never enough space for Windows to update itself, so I was constantly getting messages prompting me to update and then messages that it couldn't because there wasn't enough space. I decided to to a factory reset, as I didn't have anything important on the machine.   I booted the Stream while pushing f11, and initiated a factory reset. However, after hanging on 37% for a while, it gave me the message "There was a problem resetting your PC". Ever since then, the machine will not boot Windows: if I power it on, it goes through a loop where the hp logo will come up, then dissapear to black, come back a few minutes later, etc...  How can I successfully complete this factory reset, or at least get the stream functional again the way it was?Thank you so much for your help!

I'm beginning to reach the end of the road with my laptop, and I'd rather get it working than get a new one, but I'm a tad bit of a noob, so please explain things clearly, thanks.

Upon my intense dissatisfaction with windows 10, I decided to switch to linux, and I therefore created another partition on my hard drive and installed linux on it. Things were fine for a while, I was using linux fulltime, and despite windows 10 still being on my laptop, I never booted into it. I had been having problems with my work PC for months. Very slow boot up, lagging during use, programs not responding etc...
Then worse issues started like the system restore not saving any restore points, not allowing me to manually create restore points...

I tried all the normal stuff.

Sfc Scan came up clean, Check disk came up clean, AVG and Malwarebytes scans were clean....

It seemed like the longer I left it on the better it ran, but anytime it restarted it got terrible again. Then about a week ago I tried to do another Check Disk, I scheduled it and restarted the PC as I was leaving for the day.
When I got in the next morning I checked the event log and no Check disk was on there. So I tried it again that day and the same thing happened.

Then yesterday it all blew up. I was on my PC it was mostly running ok, except for skype which would not properly connect. Since I need that program working to do my job I restarted the PC.

It would let me enter my password but then was stuck on the Welcome screen for about 30 minutes.
So I powered down and tried to boot into safe mode, and it did the same thing, stuck on the welcome screen.
So I powered down again and went into start up repair. Startup repair failed.

I used a command prompt to run check disk on C: and it only took about 30 seconds which I found odd but it said it came up clean. I also did it on DBackup) and it also took about 30 seconds and came up clean. Then I did it on EOS) and it was going extremely... Read more

Hi guys, I've got a strange one.

I have a Gateway netbook that blue screens out on booting. I checked the BIOS and it's set to achi, which is correct for Win7 (Starter).

The blue screen is abbreviated, and essentially says Stop: c0000145 Application error. Fail to initialize 0xc000005.

Safe Mode blue screened. The last file shown loaded was disk.sys.

I ran the recovery environment three times. I also ran SFC offline. It found corrupt files that it couldn't repair.

So finally I decided to do a factory reset using the recovery partition. It too blue screened.

That made me suspect hardware. I ran the short self test, the conveyance test and the extended self test on the drive. All passed. I'm now running memtest86. Almost done with Pass 2, no errors. I'll let it go all night, but this error is so blatant I would expect it to surface quickly - probably.

Next step is to restore from disks, or from an external image. That's for tomorrow. But I'm looking for thoughts on what might be going on. Thanks!

Can you post a camera snap of the Blue scree? May be we can have some ideas from the parameters.

So my laptop has been buggy of late, very buggy. Acer Aspire 5535 Vista Home Premium.

Hi, Really hope someone here can help me!!!

My laptop was working fine. I decided to do a factory reset to speed things up a little. All seemed fine until the 'Please wait while windows continues setting up your computer' screen. It stayed on this for around 6 hours. I thought there was something wrong so I restarted. It then boots up to the error that many people get when an installation has failed (The one asking you to restart and try again). I've tried this process many times both by from the hidden partition and 2 back up discs I made when I got the laptop around 2 or 3 years ago. I also left it over night, when I came to it it just had a blank screen and wouldn't do anything.

I've got hold of a recovery disk and checked for errors but it doesn't find any. Memory checks are fine. I've taken a RAM out 2 it only has 2GB in now. I don't have an original Vista disc as it didn't come with one. Just got the windows and app driver back up discs that I made when I got it.

How long should this process take? Any ideas what I can try next before taking to a repair shop?

A friend has a windows 7 disc, will there be repair utilities on that?

Any help is much appreciated!

Hi all,

Long story short... I found it necessary to use the recovery disks I created for my dell inspiron 5010n, and reset to factory settings.

The recovery seemed to go well... Windows7 booted, and configured for 1st use. (Restarting a few times in the process). Windows then indicated it needed to restart after downloading 1 update.

When it restarted, windows failed to boot... instead the windows boot manager came up with the following msg:
Windows failed to start. A recent hardware or software change might be the cause. To fix the problem:

1. Insert your Windows installation disc and restart your computer.
2. Choose your language settings, and then click "Next."
3. Click "Repair your computer."

If you do not have this disc, contact your system administrator or computer manufacturer for assistance

Status: 0xc000000e

Info: The boot selection failed because a required device is inaccessible.
So, I tried again, this time letting windows download all updates... same result.
So, I tried again, disabling auto update, and after getting everything working, restarted to the same msg.

I've now recovered again, updates disabled, (using it to type this), but know if I restart, the same issue will occur, and I'll have to recover again.

Does this have something to do with (edit) bcdedit?
Anyone have an idea what's going on, and how to fix this.

Yesterday I used my recovery disk to factory reset my laptop. The installation process was successful. After all files and hp softwares are installed into laptop it restarts. From that point it stuck on boot looping. While boot loop it not shows hp logo instead it shows only windows 8 logo.
Once again tried to boot using recovery disc to confirm the files are copied inside the hard drive using backup files option. All windows 8 files are there inside the c drive (refer Imgur: The most awesome images on the Internet).
Need help to boot into Windows 8.
Product Name: Hp envy dv6 7206tx
Operating System: Microsoft Windows 8 (64-bit)
Thanks.

A:HP Envy dv6 7206tx Boot loop after Factory reset

Was it running ok before you used recovery disc as it looks like you have overwritten the operation system of windows you had on there.
Have you tried factory reset which hopefully might find your windows what you had on there

Hi everyone Im new here & I really hope someone can help me.
Ive had an Acer laspire 4810TZ laptop since 2010 and one before that, unfortunetly Ive always had really bad problems with acer but i was stupid enough to buy it again the second time. the thing is I know quite a bit about laptops and fix basic - medium problems. but this issue has not only floored me, but also cost me alot.

I really hope someone can help..
Its says BOOTMNGR is missing and will not allow me to reset it to factory default by my cds or alt1+f10, it says image failed to copy a 1% before this it would go to 50% and say the exact same message...I just paid to get it fixed...and then i tried to wipe again to get my product key ( im really stupid and dont know why i thought that would happen it was to late to clcik back.. when i realsied this..litrelly went numb when i realsied what an idiotic mistake i made and for the engineer who supposedly fixed my laptop)
My laptop was really slow, and I had been avoiding having to completly wipe everything. i had only done it a few moths back and have never had aproblem with it. Something somewhere went really wrong as I tried taking the easy solution out- I ried to restore my laptop to an earlier point because when I update windows something always happens to my laptop, so tahts something I would definetely be avoiding. Afte rthe updates my laptop was really slwo, to the point it stopped working. It wouldnt open the browser or any folders so I was forced to r... Read more

I have an old packard bell laptop that I recently just factory reset because I was recieving it from a friend. It reset fine, no problems, but when it tried to boot up, it got caught in the boot loop that many other win10 users have been experiencing. It takes me through the setup page you go through on new laptops, and then when it would normally load the desktop it just goes back to the start of the cycle.

Anticipating this, I created a restore drive in a USB flash drive, but am unable to run from it since I forgot to bear in mind that the function keys (along with a few other keys on the keyboard) do not work, so I can't get into the BIOS menu or the manual boot menu.

A:Boot loop after factory reset - Function Keys not working!

If that is indeed an old packard bell laptop, it would be impossible to "factory reset" it to Windows 10 because it would have come with an older operating system.

What is the model name and model number of that laptop?
What is the exact Windows version on its Certificate-Of-Authenticity sticker?

Hi.

I need to reset my Gateway Desktop PC's Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bits installation to factory settings using the restore utility from the Desktop PC boot, my problem is that I have Ubuntu 11.10 too on dual-boot so I'm not sure what should I take into consideration.

There are two options: overwrite the OS installation or, format C: an do a clean installation. My biggest concern is that since I have dual boot the first loader that... loads, is the Ubuntu's one and I'm not sure if that is going to interfere with the installation.

Here's a similar thread: Vista - Need to restore Gateway to Factory Settings

A:How to reset Win7 to factory settings with Ubuntu dual-boot

Keep in mind that running the Factory preinstall is not optimal due to the often heavy load of OEM sponsors' bloatware and useless factory utilities which have better versions built into Win7. So I would consider doing a Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7 to the Win7 partition, then following these steps to Dual boot Ubuntu-Win7 which cause the least problems by limiting GRUB to the Linux partition.

Make your Recovery disks anyway so you have a path back to factory condition if you decide to sell the PC or ship it back under warranty. If you do decide to run Recovery I would do it from it's partition at boot, then use the disks only as a backup against failure. If you decide to Clean Reinstall, make the disks so you can delete the Recov partition and recover its space.

If you run Recovery and it doesn't offer an option to save an existing partition then Ubuntu will be wiped and you'll need to add it back. Best is to add it on another HD booted only via the BIOS boot order or one-time Boot menu.

Need help with a strange problem, with which I do not see a normal way to fix, after a successful recovery from the factory backup, after using Onekey Recovery. Not so long ago Yoga stop boot in the operating system (Windows 8) and there was only one way, use OneKey Recovery to restore everything back.  After the successful restoration from hidden factory partition, Lenovo Yoga refuse to boot into OS and constantly booting into OneKey Recovery, without using OneKey button. When you push Power button Lenovo logo pop on screen, than loading bar appear on bottom and after it load OneKey Recovery screen. I try use options from OneKey screen, like Boot Option, it bring nothings there , just empty blue screen. It going in loop no matter what option I try use..  Still same OneKey screen on start, what asking me to Reset or use Backup image. I did factory reset several times already, with successful confirmation, no fix done yet..  Is there a known problem or way to stop boot OneKey Recovery in loop? All BIOS setting in factory default, and searching on WEB bring nothings useful. There a lot similar problems with some type of variation but recommendations seems not apply on my situation. I getting sick of that.. and absolutely no idea what can be done else. Please, I need direct response from Lenovo tech support or someone who has same and was able to fix. This is Lenovo Yoga 2 11, model name: 20332. Made in 2014.

Getting an infinite loading sort of error where my comp goes to HP loading screen, blackscreen, turns off, and repeats. Very annoying and nothing I've seen so far is working. I don't have a disk or drive to use to reload Windows with, and I didn't set any system restore points like an idiot, so I'm stuck here. I'm not that great with computers so any help would be appreciated, thanks.

I thought a clean factory reset will fix the issue. But it is still has the BSOD. I have uploaded the zip file that contains the dump as instructed.
