Q: Lenovo Yoga 710 freezes

I just got a brand new Yoga 710 with 7th gen i7 (Yoga 710-14IKB 80V4). I've been using it for a couple of days only and already it has several times frozen to a state where nothing else than pressing power button for a long time helps. The issue can be repeated if I e.g. leave the laptop viewing youtube it will freeze. It varies how it takes but it seems to always happen sooner or later. Is there any other fix to this but refund? I was planning to have this laptop for several years and the start is not very promising. So I'll be pretty easily executing my right to return within 30 days. Thanks for any advice!

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've had this laptop for about 3 years I've never had any issues with it until recently it slowed down drastically I tried to reinstall Windows I reset it to factory settings. It kept saying that it was scanning and repairing drive C: none of those steps worked. I finally got it to open the desktop but it won't do anything else now. So what's the next step here? Help me out please.

I have a Lenovo Yoga 720-15IKB ideapad with Windows 10 that is having issues with the touch pad. When moving the cursor around with the touch pad it tends to freeze momentarily until lifting my finger off the touch pad or waiting a second or so. I have updated everything I could including the Bios to version 1.06. I tried to update the driver to the touch pad via the device manager but it says there isn't a new one available (the current driver installed is dated 6-21-2006 version 10.0.15063.0. I have also checked and adjusted the actual touch pad settings with no difference noticed.I have read about several similar issues on other Lenovos such as the 900 and it seemed like they were able to download Symantics touch pad driver updates, but I have not found any touch pad updates from Lenovo yet.Does anyone have a solid fix for this other than returning the computer or restoring completely? YOGA 900-13ISK2 SEPN: 80UEBIOS: 2UCN6WW16 GB RAM / I7-6560 / WIN 10 x64 Home    I got my new Yoga 900 few weeks ago and ever since it's been randomly freezing. The laptop is with this problem from day one and without any additional software installed. There's no error message or anything, it just freeze or flickering and than freezes completely without a BSOD and the only way to use it again is to shut it off and turn it back on. The freeze looks strange: black screen, any sounds playing would either stop or repeat indefinitely and the fan noise high. The LED backlight is on, but completely black display. I had to shut down my computer by pressing the power key and then restarting again. There is no clear error massage in Event log: ?Audit events have been dropped by the transport. 0? and ?Unexpected shutdown?. For some reason, it's much more frequent on battery power and almost non-existant on AC power and High Performance Power Options. But whit this solution the battery life is highly impacted and the fan noise is high, which makes no sense for this notebook class!!!!Action taken:Windows 10 Home ? I have a Lenovo Yoga 3 pro 1370 running Window 10 build 10586.104This is a fresh install less than one week old. I conducted a fresh install in an effort to solve a problem I have been having for over amonth now.With the WiFi network adapter enabled I am unable to move the laptop nor move the screen as this causes the entire system to freeze requiring a full reboot. Disabling the card through device manager allows me to move the laptop as normal. We just got our Yoga a few days ago and we immediately noticed problems with lagging and periodic freezes. This happens when we browse the web or do any other activities.Task managers does not show any CPU/Mem/IO spikes.I've done some searching and performed these changes:- Upgraded BIOS to the latest version recommended by Lenovo tools ;- Disabled HW acceleration in Chrome- Changed cooling policy while on battery to Active.Nothing above helped.  We are pretty much getting ready to return laptop to Best Buy. Anybody has a similar issue?

After i upgraded to BIOS 2XCN30WW(V2.05) dated 2017/06/21 i started to experience lags and temporary freezes (for 20/30 seconds and it would recover) while using windows 10 creators edition.The lag/freeze can be described as a period of time every 10 minutes or so in which the computer stops responding to keyboard input and eventually to mouse movements, if you had a youtube video or audio playing in the background it starts coming out distorted, everything makes you think there is something hogging the CPU or RAM, it recovers itself after 20 or 30 seconds, sometimes less than that.I first blamed Slack Client but quickly found that it didn't have anything to do. It didn't seem related to load as the CPU/RAM usage in Task Manager remained low during these periods.I then blamed a recent Windows Update patch , which i rolled back prompty without noticing any changes.My last option and what ultimately resolved the issue is the rolling back the BIOS upgrade that i applied at about the same time of the windows patch.I enabled the Allow Back-Flash option in BIOS setup and rolled back to version 2XCN29WW, and the problem dissapeared for good, and just to confirm that the BIOS was to blame after a few days of happy computing i decided to give the new BIOS another try and TADAH! soon after the update the freeze/lags started again.I just wanted to share this with you guys in hopes that if you are having similar issues you can resolve them using this message.And since Lenovo doesn't seem... After recently applying the latest windows 10 fall creator updates to version 1079(which happens automatically), my Yoga 900 freezes whenever I try to update System settings(for display, power or notifications).  The only was out is to cold shut down (hold down power button until pc turns off).  I can;t figure out how to fix it.  Anybody else have a similiar experience?

I'm running the latest version of Windows 10 (Anniversary Update - Build 14393.693) clean installed on  a Yoga 2 Pro (20266 / 80AY) BIOS 76CN43WW. The "Lenovo Yoga  Mode Control" version 2.0.0.9 (ymc.exe) has consistently crashed every day for the last few months. Crash reports are logged. Since you have to hunt around different Lenovo sites (and other sites) to find out about these softwares, I decided to make a post to get feedback from actual Yoga owners on how these programs interact, what they do, which ones are prerequisite, and which ones are unnecessary. Please don't take this as a blanket answer. This is just what I have found. It might be right - it might be wrong. I'm looking for others to post their experiences as well. Lenovo System Interface Foundation Driver - Necessary prerequisite (missing driver in device manager without it). It allows the Lenovo Utility and Lenovo Companion to work. Lenovo Yoga Mode Control - Necessary if you want to use your yoga to seemlessly change between all the different modes (laptop, tablet, tent, stand). This software is responsible for autorotating and putting Windows into tablet mode. Lenovo Utility - Recommended(?) This one I'm not too sure on. I remember that I was missing some function that I wanted but I can't remember what it was now. Maybe battery cycle count and health? Lenovo Companion - I don't have this one installed and don't think it's necessary but would like someone else to shed some light here.

Maybe once a month, my Lenovo screen will freeze and this will happen to the screen before I have to hold down the powerbutton and restart my laptop. What should I do? I had read that someone else had replaced their EPD Cable (P/N 5C10M14137LNV) - the cable connecting the mother board to the LCD display and it fixed it. Like stated in the description. the Lenovo Yoga Control Service require 3% out of the CPU, all the time. and the only thing the service does is checking the orientation of the screen, and disable keyboard and mouse when flipped. This is absurd, especially since it drains battery constantly. I hope that this will be fixed eventually, until that time, I will turn the service off and use the computer like a regular laptop.

Disclaimer: I received the Yoga 920 as a review loaner unit from Lenovo. All opinions are my own, nobody is paying for my review, and no one is reviewing this content before it's posted.

On the surface, both the Yoga 910 and Yoga 920 look nearly identical, but in my testing, I prefer one over the other. Let's dig deeper to see the differences between the two!To get this out of the way, both machines have 1TB PCIe storage, 16GB memory, and the Yoga 910 has the 7th gen i7-7550U processor, and the Yoga 920 has the 8th gen i7-8550U processor. 
 
Hardware & Design
Both the Yoga 910 and Yoga 920 are built out of aluminum, which gives them a high quality feel to them.  Both laptops have the keyboard integrated into the chassis, which means less keyboard flex. One thing that I find better in the Yoga 920 is the fact that it's all smooth edges around.  The Yoga 910 has pretty sharp edges which means you could scratch your surface or yourself.  The sharp edges of the Yoga 910 was a common complaint, and I'm glad they rectified it.

Device make:YOGA 92013IKB Glass Product #:80Y8 I have a Lenovo Yoga 920 and some of the keys on my physical keyboard have stopped working (4, r, f, v, 5, t, g, and b) but my onscreen keyboard works. I belive this started happening after I updated my Bios and did windows update. This has been going on for around a month and I am frustrated and cannot find a solution online anywhere. Please help. Solutions I have tried:Turning my laptop on and off/restart.I have tried turning off fast startup and this temporarily fixed my keyboard but did not last.Tried updating my drivers through Lenovo update, windows, and device manager.I have gone into device manager and deleted my keyboards and that only worked temporarily too.

Usually, when groups of keys in rows or columns stop working, the problem is the keyboard itself.  Are you still under warranty?

When I check the drivers for my monitor and touch screen I noticed the driver was missing. I cannot get Lenovo or Microsoft to fix this. What else can I do to get that driver back ?

From what I can see, your unit does not seems to have made the list, which leads me to believe that this will be the cause of the issue, I would recommend that you revert back to the previous version of Windows, and observe if the fault still occurs or not.

I've been looking around and found a few people who are very displeased with the logo startup/boot logo (example1, example2), but no way to change it as of yet. Is it possible without too much hassle? I know it's not a big deal but the logo is simply terrible in so many ways. If nothing, then at least I'm raising awareness and maybe Lenovo will choose a better graphic designer for our collective startup screens. I mean, seriously? Is that the best you could come up with?

A:Yoga 720 Lenovo boot logo. Is there a way to change it? (should be the same for every new Yoga).

I do not know of any way to easily change it without hackging the BIOS, nor would I waste time trying to do so since it is just the boot logo, and I am just happy to have it boot up.

Hi  We have purchased a Lenovo Yoga Laptop on 20.01.17. From 10th of April onwards , there is some issues with Laptop Power Button .We are not able to switch it on using power Button. We had a talk with call center executives, Senior Executives & service Head of Kolkata, but still there is no proper update. I have some problems with the Lenovo software. Lenovo Account Portal does not launch Lenovo Companion and Lenovo Settings. Also, Lenovo Solution Center is missing from the Start Menu. The second problem is that some tiles are blank in Start Menu. Seemingly it's the apps that aren't Metro. I'm not sure when the problem started, but I think it was like that since I got the PC. If I right click the apps, the only option will be "Pin to Start", and with some apps: Share and Rate. I read other posts and none specifically addressed this for the 920 and the use of what is actually a good Lenovo config tool seems to be poorly documented.   I would think it would be the same for any Yoga model with Windows 10 and Lenovo Vantage installed.   I can't seem to find a version for Vantage, so hopefully this works on all versions.    1) Find and open Lenovo Vantage on your machine (use Cortana if needed).   This is the Responsive view and yours may look different...don't worry, options are the same.  Click on Hardware settings  2)  Click on Input (again, responsive view...whatever view you have should have this button labeled the same)  3)  This will open the Hardware Setting - Input UI.   Under 'Function Keys' click on the one that is labeled 'F1-F12' (should look like below, highlighted in blue) to make that the the Function the default setting for those keys...to further clarify: it will now be a Function Key (F1-F12) by default.    With this change, you will press the FN+ one of the function key for the Hot Key option (e.g. FN+F1=mute/unmute, FN+F2=volume down, etc.)     4)  Your change is already saved, so you can now X-out (click X in the upper right) of the pop-up windows created by that were created

My son accidentally got his leg caught in the cord of his laptop when he got up and the laptop  fell approximately 2 feet to the tile floor.  It boots up but stays on the Lenovo splash screen.  If I go into the BIOS and select System Recovery it goes through the "Loading files..." process, the Lenovo splash screen appears with the dots going in a circle but, then after about 2 minutes of that the screen just goes black.  If I tilt the screen forward or back I can tell it is still backlit just with nothing to display.  Anything we can try?

New Yoga 700-141SK: Ran the Lenovo Support Center Hardware Scan and the Video Card Mathematical Operations Test has failed rendering the Report: WVC007002-UL7BPL. Is there a tried and proven solution out there? I have had a look at the solutions on the forum and am not satisfied that the solutions offered prove that the problem has been resolved. It is reasonable to expect Lenovo to make available a solution as a matter of course instead of end-users of "afflicted" Lenovo devices having to request/search for a solution(s).

A:Lenovo Yoga 910 wont load pass the Lenovo screen.

Try getting into BIOS first and loading default settings. To do this, press the small "Novo" button (you'll need a paperclip for this), and select "BIOS setup". From there, use the arrow keys to get to the "exit" tab and select load default settings.

On the Lenovo Onekey Recovery, I selected the option to restore system partition to its initial status. Now I'm not sure what this does exactly, but it then asked for what language I wanted to use and then username and password. And before I could type in anything, the screen turn black and no matter what I did, it wouldn't budge from there. Now I don't know if I accidentally removed windows and I don't know how to get it back. Does anyone know what options I have?

Hi,In the end of the day I turned off my Lenovo Yoga 3 Pro, everthing was working well, and a left it connected to the power supply. Half hour later I disconnected from the power plug.The next day when turn it on it stays stopped in the starting black Lenovo Screen. The light from keyboard works, and I can turn it of/on thru the keyboard buttons, but nothing else works and the screen keeps always on the same black lenovo screen.I have tried several solutions as follows:   - Turn it off, and then turn it on. Even tried more than one time and always keep the same;   - Turn it on on safe mode/BIOS (?) by pressing the small in button near the power button, but it turn on and keeps stucked in the same black lenovo screen;   - Turn it off, and press the power button for more than 1 minute. After turn it on and was the same;   - I left it and wait until all the battery was completly dead, then press the power button for long time, and after that connect it to power and turn it on. Nothing, just keeps the same.Any ideas or suggestions?Thanks in advance

The sound card on my Yoga 920 died, and my laptop has been at Lenovo since 11/15. They initially sent my laptop back due to a missdiaganosis. I have been told they won't even recieve a new part until 1/1/2019. I have been assigned a customer care case manager, Delfina, who hasn't responded to my calls or emails for over a week. I'm traveling for the holidays and make use of the external GPU through thunderbolt 3, which is the primary reason I bought this laptop. I'm hoping this will get some attention so I can get some help. I've called normal customer service multiple times who have promised a callback from Customer Care Case Management within 24-48 hours multiple times. I just want to talk to someone to figure this out. Hopefully someone can help.

Hello everyone I was wondering if anyone knows whether the Lenovo Active Pen is also compatible with the yoga 920, or whether only the Lenovo Active Pen 2 works. Moreover, I was wondering if the Lenovo Active Pen also looses contact when writing if you hold the pen close to the nub. Thanks! for your help

Lenovo active pen 1 is also compatible with Yoga 920 as shown in the accessories search tool here PART # GX80K32884. It would be less sensitive to depth perception but with palm rejection enabled then you may not have the same issue on losing contact with it. 
 
It would also be favorable to have it tried first before any purchase specially if you have someone that have it and compare it with other active pens whichever would be comfortable and efficient to your writing style.

Initial problem:On the  29th June 2016 my laptop suddenly turned off and now only the backlit keyboard lights up and goes off again and the power button just goes on and off.After about 5 minutes of use before the error the screen went blue and shut down. After restarting, as it went onto the desktop the screen flickered constantly and was unusable. I then turned it off again and it wont turn on since. My issue now:Anyway after emailing lenovo, and sending it off they said it was the RAM. However after enquiring over a month after sending it off and paying for the repair they replied with:'We have received feedback from our repair provider in relation to your device in repair. Unfortunately due to non-availability of parts we are unable to complete this repair. We will send your faulty device back to you free of charge. Once we have the part in stock you can re-book the repair again free of charge.' Since last summer, I have emailed multiple times and they have replied saying it still isn't in stock. I just feel like I am being treated unfairly as the laptop wasn't even 2 years old and it's broke and they will not fix it. I don't want to have to  do it myself as that will probably cause its own problem, but its the principal that they should fix their mistake! I have seen a youtube video of the same problem on the same laptop so it is obviously an issue. Any ideas on what I can do to get this issue solved would be great, even if its the email to ... Santa delivered a Lenovo 510-AST looks great, santa?s Elves at the store said that a Lenovo Active Pen 1 GX80K32884 would work with it..... The laptop seems great, the usual mega GB of updates from windows, and setting Gmail up with outlook was like code breaking the CIA !!! The the pen, how can Lenovo not have instructions on how to turn it on ??????  I don?t know if its on or not, doesn?t appear in the Bluetooth device list on the laptop... So is this Active Pen computable with this laptop ?If it is, how the chuff do you turn it on ? If not compatible, what Other active pens are comparable ? frustrated... grrrrrrr

HiJust installed security patch level 1 June 2017. Unfortunatley the microsoft office pacakge was not fully installed .Tablet is missing WORD app but the rest off office pacakge was installed is there anyway to run the same update again?or revert the firmware. kind regards

Hello,    I am looking to replace my aging Lenovo T420S and Lenovo x1 Carbon 1st generation. They have both served me well and I am happy with both.  I like the touch of Carbon but don?t use it that often. The machine will be perosnla machine but will be used for personal and business/work use. I saw the T460S and x1 Yoga yesterday at our IT department. I like the built quality of Lenovo T460S including keyboard but found X1 Yoga to be fragile. I couldn?t get my hands on X1 Carbon 4th generation and found out that it doesn?t have touch anymore. The weight difference is minimal between the three machines and I personally like the weight, feel and ruggedness of Lenovo T460S. Bottom line is does anyone have experience with these three machines? I can afford to replace only one machine now and it will be fully loaded (i7, 16GB and 1Tb PCIe-NVME drive). Is x1 Yoga rugged and reliable? The difference between X1 Carbon 4th Gen and T460S seems minimal. Thank You!Subhash

I have owned this unit for 3 weeks.  Multiple times it has frozen, then blackscreened, where the keyboard is still lit up, the charger button lights up (if plugged in), and the power switch, but nothing on the screen, and the power button is unresponsive as the screen: doesn't work to turn it off or on.I have researched but not seen anyone else having this problem with 720, but it seems a recurrent problem from 710 & 910 units.  I finally found a reboot option in one of those threads: to hold the power button for 20 seconds until the machine whirs, then release and turn it on.  That gets it booted back, but doesn't prevent this issue from happening every few days.  This also seems to happen after Windows or system updates. Related to this (I think) is that my Office 2016 products (Word, Excel, and Outlook) several times a day freeze and become unresponsive.  They will not close through the task master, and when I try to do a "restart," it refuses because it can't close those programs and tells me  to close those programs manually--which I can't do either.  Sometimes I can shut down with the power button & restart, sometimes it blackscreens and I have to go through the above process.I have checked all the various updates suggested on Lenovo site & several reliable outside fora (where I found the boot fix); my machine is totally current.VERY VERY FRUSTRATING.  I have been through a solid 2 months of computer issues and ha...
