Solved: Connect HP monitor to Dell PC

Q: Solved: Connect HP monitor to Dell PC

Hi - I currently have a Dell OptiPlex™ GX270 to which I would like to connect an HP monitor. The monitor has a VGA cable, a DVI cable and an audio cable (and obviously a power cable). The Dell has VGA input, and, as far as I can tell not DVI. Do I need to be able to connect DVI in order to use this monitor? Also, monitor has built-in speakers. I am assuming the audio cable for that would go into the same input that I currently use for my free standing speakers. The monitor has that Bright View Technology which looks quite nice. My system has 512 ram, Intel Pentium 2.4 GHz processor and plenty of hard disk space. Bottom line - is this pc up to the task of this monitor connection? Even though this Dell is sort of old, it still runs fine and I see no need to dump it at this juncture - especially since any new pc's only come with Win7. I like xp. Anyway, any help would be most appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi everyone,
I have a new hardware:

Dell XPS13 (9360) with Thunderbolt 3
Dell U3417W 34" monitor  (3440x1440 px)

I have prepared everything on my table because I had no idea that new Dell only has Thunderbolt 3 and no mini display port. I was kind of surprised (in a bad way) that I will need another reduction.
The problem is that I can only input display port, mini display port and HDMI into the new Dell U3417W monitor. I am not sure how much resolution I can squeeze from HDMI, so what is left are those display ports.
Should I buy USB-C -> Display port cable like for e.g. Startech USB Type-C to Displayport cable, 1m (CDP2DPMM1MB) which could possibly do the job? Or perhaps even some Thunderbolt 3 cable?
I need to have 3440x1440 px @ 60 Hz where some of those cables support only @30 Hz and they do not explicitly state that 3440x1440px resolution is supported.
I would rather avoid those bugged Dell docking stations where the whole internet (e.g. Amazon) is snowed by users complaints.
Thanks in advance for any help!

We got two new Dell XPS 13 for users and there does not seem to be any video out ports like on previous models.  This runs Windows 10 Professional and has an internal screen resolution of 1920x1080.  Looks like there is 2 USB 3.0 super speed ports and possibly a (thunderbolt)??? port?
I've heard of USB-C so I'm not sure if this one port on the left side is that, or if its thunderbolt.  I googled thunderbolt to hdmi adapter and in all the images I find it always shows a mini display port on one end despite the descriptions saying thunderbolt.

So whats the cheapest way to get HDMI out on this laptop?

A:How do I connect an external monitor to a new Dell XPS 13?

Hi,
The Thunderbolt( USB Type C port) on the Left Hand side deals with the video output on the system. You will need to purchase a USB Type C to HDMI adapter to display video.
The cable is available on the Dell website here

Hi:
I have connected the monitor to the laptop with an HDMI cable and the monitor says there is no signal in the HDMI port. Then (a couple of minutes later), the signal is received and the monitor shows what I have in my laptop. However, this is intermittent and the signal is lost and restored. This happens sometimes when I’m opening a new program or the program I’m using starts to use more resources from the processor. I already have installed the monitor driver for Dell P2815Q. I’m using Windows 10.
I’m thinking that maybe I will have better luck with a USB 3 cable. What do you recommend?
 Thanks,
 Javier

A:How do I connect an Inspiron 7737 to a Dell P2815Q monitor (with USB?)

USB would mean DisplayLink, which has a number of drawbacks compared to attaching the display to an output directly controlled by the GPU, such as possible compression artifacts and/or motion judder during times of high CPU and/or USB utilization, or simply when large portions of the display area are changing simultaneously.  Additionally, due to a Windows limitation, your GeForce dPGU would not be able to accelerate any content displayed on a DisplayLink-attached display. But about your specific issue, given that you're trying to run 4K, have you tried just swapping the HDMI cable?  Not all HDMI cables are equal when it comes to pushing very high bandwidth.  That said, I don't know if that system's HDMI port will even do 4K @ 60 Hz, since that requires HDMI 2.0 and most Dell systems I've seen have only had HDMI 1.4, which would limit you to 4K @ 30 Hz or 1440p @ 60 Hz.

Dear All,
I am using E177FPb monitor quite long time. Since i have a satellite receiver which has HDMI output. Planned to connect the same to my monitor. Purchased HDMI to VGA converter, connected, monitor giving error message " CANNOT DISPLAY THIS VIDEO MODE Optimum resolution 1280 x 1024 60Hz". Tried with other LG LED monitor, working fine. Tried the below steps as per advice from few sites. No luck.
1. Tried to change the setting of monitor through laptop, no luck.

FYI
My Sat receiver giving output format as 720P.
Hope you understand my concern, expecting the solution.

Best Regards

A:Dell monitor E177FPb - Could not connect with Satellite Receiver through HDMI to VGA converter

720P is 1280 x 720  75Hz your monitor does not support that.  1280 x 1024 60hz interlaced is max.  This monitor is over 10 years old.

I assume the monitor has the ADC connector, and the PC has either VGA or DVI(not sure what you mean by 5-5-5 and 10-10-10). There are converters to go to to ADC from either but they are not cheap(more money then a small new LCD) or easy to find unless you can find one on eBay.

Reseated everything. I have 750W power supply, and its not connected to my video card because one of my prongs broke on the dvi vga converter. I had it connected to the factory dvi port. Possibly the inverter (or screen). Usually not a loose connection and probably not user repairable

Do you see the POST screen or anything else while the computer is booting up, before the desktop loads? If so, try starting in safe mode by hitting F8 repeatedly before Windows loads up, after that, uninstall the video drivers, install good-known drivers from nVidia site, boot back up in normal desktop mode.

Hello,
I am trying to help out my family with this question: I was trying to connect a Dell Studio 1458 laptop to the internet that we have. There is NO router, only a modem so the ethernet cord hooks directly from the cable modem to the computer. The laptop has wireless and wired internet capabilities (supposedly). It couldn't connect to a wireless internet and it wouldn't connect to the wired connection either. I got the same thing every time "Unidentified network: no internet access" Upon troubleshooting I get this error: "internet IP address cannot be configured." It is almost like the computer is not allowing internet accessing.

The internet works fine because when tried on 2 other computers and everything worked fine. Ironically, this is also happening with my sister's Dell Inspiron laptop. Both computers have Windows 7 64x with Broadcom Gigabit Ethernet network cards. The driver for the network card was updated: no change. The device was disabled / enabled, no change. All firewalls and virus software disabled, no change. There are no detectable errors in the device manager.

I am running out of ideas on what could be causing the problem and how to fix it. I am thinking it has something to do with how dell has the computers set-up, because two new dell computers are having the problem; but I have no idea how to approach it. Any ideas are greatly appreciated.

Thank you!

My computer knowledge is very limited, and I am posting hoping that someone can help me with my problem.

A friend of mine just gave me a Dell Inspiron 2200. When I try connecting to the internet I am told that internet explorer cannot display the webpage. I do NOT have a wireless router, I am connected to the modem of my PC through ethernet. I ran a network diagnostics for windows XP and it says that there might be a problem with the modem, but the modem works fine with my PC.

The connection status says that there is limited or no connectivity. It further says that this problem occurred because the network did not assign a network address to the computer. I then clicked on the repair button and it trys to renew the IP address and it says that it cannot finish repairing the problem and tells me to contact the person who manages the network.

In the general local area connection status:

Status: Limited or no connectivity

Duration: 15:00 and counting

Speed: 100.0 Mbps

Activity

Sent Packets 104 Received Packets 0

I have no idea what to do to fix this problem and would appreciate any help that you can provide. I believe that I will have better luck through this forum than to call for help support. Thanks again for the help.

Now I can't connect through my cable modem. In dm I find a yellow point next to other devices and PCI simple communications controller. Have installed a netgear pci card, but dm says the card isn't working code 10. When I boot up, the hardware wizard looks for drivers for the pci controller in c:winnt, but can't find them.

The pc is a dell dimension XPS_T.
The motherboard is Intel D845GEBV2

Does this have anything to do with being disconnected from the domain? I have admin privileges.

A:[SOLVED] Need Dell SVGA Monitor Driver

You shouldn't need the specific monitor driver unless you are running some non-standard video settings. Monitor drivers just tell the system the capabilities of the monitor, most svga monitors are similar and the settings the video card picks will work. You might want to look up the capabilities of the monitor (search by model number or name) and make sure you dont exceed the specs, especially if you are running at high resolutions or refresh rates

Is there anything else I can change with the monitor that might help? I keep seeing on the web that the refresh rate on LCDs is not the same technology as the CRTs and its not that helpful with this issue.

I am not tech savvy but i'll try to explain my problem . I was given a dell latitude cpx laptop running windows xp recently with wireless b network adapter. My modem/router is a 2wire gateway DSL . When I brought the laptop home, it did not connect to my wireless network. It was able to find my ssid though, and the signal was weak even if I was close to the modem/router. Anway, someone suggested I switch from WPA to WEP encryption because old network adapters can only detect wep encryption ( or something like that) . So I did, and still no internet connection. i tried to ping yahoo.com and still not working. My DNS and Ip adress are set to automatic and still no internet. This laptop doesn't have an LAN port, so i guess it connects through internet wirelessly only. Someone also suggested i update my drivers for wireless adapter but i don't have the original disc that came along with it. This laptop was able to connect without problem before from a different network but not mine like a week ago.. I also have2 other laptops within this network and I never had a problem with it connecting wirelessly.
ALSo i am using another laptop to make this post, not the dell latitude

Had help removing "Reg ?" through Safe Mode which is the only way to operate, unable to connect to internet. Shut down and was able to operate again only for another few minutes. All it does now is show that it is trying to connect with the "continuous moving circle thing" I cannot click onto any icon, nothing. I do get a message that reads..."The application is not responding. The program may respond again if you wait. Do you want to end this process?" with options "end process" or "cancel" Basically the only thing I can really do now is power on/off Cannot even get to anything on start menu. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thank You!

I have a Dell Latitude D620 (1490 WLAN mini-card) running Windows XP SP2 that refuses to connect to my Westell (Verizon DSL/Wireless router combo) router.

Some details:
1. My network is secured by WEP 128bit and both SSID hide and MAC address filtering is turned ON. HOWEVER, when I did turn off all filtering and WEP, the Dell found the network and listed it in Wireless connections but still did not connect when I tried connecting to the unsecured network. (The HP connects in the unsecured case as well).
2. I have another HP Pavilion laptop that I am able to connect to this network. I compared all wireless network settings and couldn't find any differences between them (other than the network cards are different between the two laptops).
3. I did uninstall and reinstall the 1490 from device manager - no effect.
4. I did update the driver for the 1490 router - no effect.
5. I tried turning Windows firewall off - no effect.
6. I do know that the wireless card on the Dell works since it connects to my network at work.
Any help will be much appreciated.

Thanks
APR

I just got a new laptop from the computer. It's a Dell 4300. MS XP Professional ver. 2002 is installed. Network adapters include 1394 Net Adapter, Intel(R) 82567LM Gigabit Network Connection and Intel(R) WiFI Link 5300 AGN. The laptop can connect to wireless network in the office, but not at home. It said, "Windows cannot configure this wireless connection. If you have enable another program to mage this wireless connection, use that software). If I connect the laptop to the router , it works. I have desktop goes wireless too, but there is no problem. I am using Linksys wireless G 2.4 GHz broadband router (my friend set up for me 2 years ago using fireware dd_wrt v24 rc-4). Anybody can help?

Hi, I've got a Dell Latitude D520 which is about 4 years old and I use for my studies. When I open it and start up the screen sometimes goes loopy, showing a variety of things. Sometimes it's like it's zoomed by various large amounts, plus gone quite fuzzy. Sometimes it goes into black and white horizontal or vertical lines. And sometimes it's ok. When it is having problems it has (so far) been rightable by banging it along the top edge, or changing the angle, or pushing the back of the screen - it's driving me nuts. There is also a dark patch the size of a baked bean along the right edge of it.
I went to the Dell drivers and downloads page but I can't think what it might be.
Is this something I can get fixed or should I give up the ghost?
Thanks for your help!

A:Solved: Need drivers for Dell P1130 monitor, Win2K

Try this one:

http://support.us.dell.com/support/downloads/download.aspx?c=us&l=en&s=gen&releaseid=R33583&formatcnt=1&libid=0&fileid=37034

Also, on the download page, click the + button beside 'Additional Information' for info that refers to Windows 2k.
And the + sign beside 'Installation Instructions'.
