Windows is closing unexpectedly while using Handbrake and rendering

Q: Windows is closing unexpectedly while using Handbrake and rendering

Hi,

My windows is closing unexpectedly when ever I'm trying to convert videos using Handbrake and render my work files on Premier Pro. Before I didn't face this kind of problem it's happening after giving my Mother Board for servicing because of some power problem. I tried in all possible ways I know to fix this problem like reinstalling all codecs and programs, I also reinstalled my Windows but there is no change. I'm using Windows 7 Service Pack 1 with latest updates. Except this almost every thing is normal. How to fix this problem, is this happening because of problem in Mother Board?

Preferred Solution: Windows is closing unexpectedly while using Handbrake and rendering

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hello I built my computer 3 years ago and it has run without any problems up until now. But this past tuesday I woke up and all of a sudden Windows Live Messenger and Internet Explorer would open and immediately close just as the page loads. Firefox has also started to close as soon as a webpage requires the use of Adobe Flash Player. Almost any programs that update automatically will close as soon as they attempt to connect to the internet also. I have tried reinstalling every program involved, turning off all addons for the browsers (doesn't make any difference to IE but Firefox will work fine with Flash Shockwave disabled but I obviously can't watch any Flash videos). I have also tried restoring the system to before monday night but this doesn't work as it just tells me that nothing has changed on the system between then and now. I have tried numerous Malware Programs which whilst they did find malware and removed it have not resolved the program closing issues and I have also used Registry Mechanic in case it was a problem with .dll files. Here is a copy of the HijackThis report and any help would be much appreciated thanks.

This just happened last night, and this morning.
I had some programs running along with Firefox, which had several tabs open when Firefox suddenly closed without warning. I know I didn't use the keyboard shortcut, because when I reopened Firefox, the session restore message came up. This happened again this morning.
I remember I once tweaked it so then it wouldn't take up so much memory, could that be the problem?

A:Firefox keeps on closing unexpectedly

Try running Firefox in safe mode and see if the problem disappears.
Start> Mozilla Firefox> Mozilla Firefox (Safe Mode).
This runs without any extensions and the default theme.
You might try and create a new profile in case yours is corrupt.

IE7 unexpectedly closing tabs

If I leave tabs open at the bottom of IE7 when I log off and then later log back on to the internet when I click on the tabs at the bottom of the page they sometimes will unexpectedly close.

I have already scanned my hard drive for problems and also checked for BHO problems to no avail.

Would anyone have any thoughts or ideas as to what I can try to solve this problem?

I am running XP, Netzero and IE7.

Thanks in advance for your help,
Yeto

A:IE7 unexpectedly closing tabs

IE7 has alot of Vulnerabilities lately, so this may be one of their devious glitches. Personally, I would switch to another browser (Firefox, Safari, Opera, Chrome..)... IE7 is probably the worst in my opinion, but then again, everyone has different tastes..

Hopefully I'll post enough info so that someone can suggest what course of action I should take about certain problems my computer has been having. The first one was of course the browsers closing. Then came the occasional Generic process for windows 32 has encountered problems and needs to close. That probably isn't the exact name but i'm sure you'll know which one I mean. Then the next issue lately has been that anything and everything that i try to download has atleast 1 file that is corrupt thus making the download unsuccessful. Also I have the Avast antivirus software running and it found a virus? or adware called Win32Adware-gen. (Once again, if I have made errors in the name, I apologize.) Hello,

My computer (XP Op system) has been running slowly for about a month. Programs are constantly closing unexpectedly (especially Yahoo Messenger and Gmail email notifier). Many times IE won't even open. I have AT&T Yahoo DSL which provides online protection (anti-spyware, anti-virus, pop-up blocker), but it doesn't detect anything.

Last week I ran a virus remover program that supposedly removed a couple Trojan viruses, but not I notice similarly named files are back in my C:\WINDOWS\system32 folder (__c008D1F2.dat and __c002224A.dat), which I suspect are new Trojan viruses, but they cannot be deleted - Access is denied.

Please help me get my computer back! Thank you for helping!

Hi I have a budget of $2000 I need a computer for rendering. Does the video card matter for the rendering process or only for the modeling and custizing?

A:I need a computer for rendering in Artlantis and Maxwell (Not modeling only rendering)

I would look at this build. You can take out the sound card and peripherals and use the saved money to buy an i7 4770K rather than the i5. I would also upgrade the GPU to a GTX 780. The CPU and GPU are vital hardware when it comes to rendering and modelling. That rig I mentioned above should do fine.

Hi,
Firstly I don't know if this is in right section. Anyway I got a virus on windows 7 and decided to put 8 on instead of reinstalling 7. I was using IE10 in 7 and using in it 8. On windows 7 the videos on cnet.com worked fine on 8 the videos dont work unless I tick the option to use software rending instead of GPU.
So I was just wondering what is the difference if I leave it ticked. Will I see a performance difference??

A:difference between software rendering and GPU rendering

Hello Mitchell,

By default, IE9 and IE10 uses GPU Rendering mode (hardware acceleration). However, some outdated video cards/chips and video drivers do not support GPU hardware acceleration. If IE9 or IE10 determines that your current video card/chip or video driver does not support GPU hardware acceleration, Internet Explorer uses Software Rendering mode (off).

If GPU hardware acceleration is turned off, then you may but not always experience slow performance when you browse a webpage using IE9 or IE10.

Hope this helps some,

Recently dumped my iMac for a Windows 8 POWERHOUSE from Dell. Unfortunately my Handbrake app will not copy commercial DVD movies, although this is easily done on a Mac running Handbrake. Any suggestions? Any FREE Handbrake styled alternatives for Windows out there?

A:Handbrake and Win 8

you need to bypass the copy protection before you can get handbrake to transcode it. how did they get around that on the Mac???

once you've ripped the movie to the hard drive sans copy protection, you can easily use handbrake on it.

Slysoft is well-known for a slew of great products. Check them out. Also DVDFab.

the free stuff is kind of antiquated. stuff like DVD Decrypter, DVD Shrink, etc.

Hey guys, I have to rip a DVD for my class assignment and splice two clips together, so my professor told use to use Handbrake to do it. However, when I click "open source", my dvd file isn't there. I downloaded a file called libdvdcss-2.dll to see if that would work and I keep trying to open it on my computer but my computer keeps saying that I don't have a program to open it with. What do I do?

Well, hmmm, hmmm, forgive me for almost illiterate to these video editing stuffs. Iíve used Handbrake (most people recommended), but I have to download the video to be converted. That really frustrated me since the network is soooooo slow. Mad. Is there anybody know of this kind of software which can convert and burn the videos into DVD directly without any other downloader?

Sorry if this is posted in the wrong forum.

If I own a DVD purchased out a shop and I want to place a copy on my Hard Drive, is it legal in the UK to do this? I tried Handbrake to rip a music dvd (owned [personally]) but it wouldnt play the file back. Tried WMP and VLC but neither could read the file. Is this an ordinary occurance and all i need to do is try again and hopefully the next time it will work?

A:Handbrake and DVDs

I can't answer about the legality, but I can tell you that you skipped a step. You need something to remove the protection first. The most common and easiest method is to use DVDfab HD Decrypter (which is free) to rip the movie to your HDD, and then Handbrake can take that folder and turn it into whatever type file you need.

I'm using Windows 7 64 bit, and when I tried to rip a DVD, after about one hour, an error came up saying something about "This log's size is over 100mb, so there's a problem". So how do I fix this issue?
EDIT: I checked the encode log file, and it said "Block Code disabled" or something like that. Is it just copyright protection?

Thanks!

A:Handbrake Alternatives

have you tried handbrake yourself?

have a look at dvdshrink - it can rip and backup. it's pretty basic, but it's free.

as far as commercial software goes, dvdfab is very good and can convert to h264, but it costs unfortunately.

sorry, but we cannot assist with this, unfortunately.

from the rules page:

Circumventing Copy Protection - While we believe it's reasonable to make backup copies of CDs and DVDs that you own, a lot of people break copy protection for the wrong reasons. The law is still vague, at best, as to if it is legal to break copy protection in order to make such a backup, even for personal use. (The DMCA, for example, seems to make it illegal.) As a result, we do not allow discussion of how to break copy protection at this time. Hello,
Recently downloaded some full movie (mp4), and found a Hebrew subtitle. Located both files in a folder,
opened the subtitle with Notepad, made some minor editing, saved it (encoding UTF-8) srt file,
movie and subtitle same name.
Played the movie in any player on the system, the subtitle rans perfect, no need to adjust timing.
Then I loaded the movie in "HandBrake (0.10.5.0 - 32bit)", imported the subtitle, selected Hebrew and
utf-8, made a small preview file - subtitle was not added.
Note, I used the same procedure several times ago with other movies - results were good.
Do not know what happened, I would ask for some help please.
Thanks

I rip my DVDs for playback on my Xbox360. I accomplish this by using Handbrake 0.9.3, since it contains a nice, neat profile for my 360.

The two newer versions of Handbrake do not support profiles, and I'm unaware of any way to export the profile and add it in to a new version. I've found plenty of strings online to try in the newer versions, yet none of the outputted files will play back on my 360. Ones done in the older 0.9.3 with the 360 profile work just fine, on my computer and the console.

Is there anyway around this, or anyway to get the original profile settings into 0.9.5?

The only thing i can think of is Taking note of what your 360 profile settings are in .9.3 and re-creating them in .9.5.

Also, the AppleTV/AppleTV 2 profiles should work on your 360.

Apple iTunes - the world's best digital music player and the NO.1 music store. Download music, movies, TV shows, apps, and more to your Mac, PC, iPod, and iPhone.
HandBrake - a free Mac OS X/Windows utility for ripping videos from DVDs and saving them in various formats including MP4 files that are playable by the iPhone/iPod Touch.

Hello all, I don't know if it's the right place to post this, but here goes:
My friend just got an i7 860 PC with 4GB Ram.
He mainly want to use the system for Maya and rendering.

The system currently has Windows XP PRO SP3 32-bit with Maya 8.
My question is:
If he upgrades to Windows 7 32-bit and installs Maya 2010, will he notice a system improvement in those 2 tasks? Will Windows 7 make the most out of the i7 CPU and Rams in a better way than XP SP3? What do you suggest?
Thankyou kindly.

A:Windows 7 4GB RAM for Maya Rendering

well he is really going to want to install 64 bit windows 7, or he will be limited in his upgrades. also may want to consider upgrading to 6x2gb sticks since he will be using DDR3. windows 7 while may not necessarily beign faster than xp all the time it will make better use of his resources than xp. but def go 64 bit on this one so it doesn't come back to bite you in the rear.

I get the aforementioned BSOD, only in one specific situation, and it happens 100% of the time. Otherwise, I never get BSODs in this computer. The problem happens only when I open Handbrake, and drop an mp4 on it to use as a source. The moment I do that, boom BSOD. It's extremely strange. I have tried reinstalling Handbrake of course to no avail. For now my only solution is to have a Ubuntu VM with Handbrake and run it that way. Any idea what could cause this? Thanks.

Hey,

i'm getting a KERNEL_SECURITY_CHECK_FAILURE BSOD shortly after or by execution of the win10 version of handbrakeCLI (uses x264 encoder).
In compability mode (win7) it seems to work.

I updated the drivers before the last bluescreen (from the Lenovo homepage) but that didn't do the trick.

Laptop was upgraded from Win8 to Win10 some while ago. Dumps point to dxgmms2.sys or ntoskrnl.exe. Don't think it's an application fault, is it?

Could you explain to me what this handbrakeCLI software is? I'm unfamiliair with it.

Dumps point to dxgmms2.sys or ntoskrnl.exe. Don't think it's an application fault, is it?

Most of the crashes show some stuff of the DirectX Kernel graphics (dxgmms2.sys) what points to the display drivers usually.
The ntoskrnl.exe is Windows Kernel, simplified it is never the true cause unless you experience a hell lot of problems (much more then only bluescreens).

Daemon tools, Alcohol 120% and Power Archiver Pro uses SCSI Pass Through Direct (SPTD), which is a well known cause for BSOD's.
Please remove Daemon Tools and run the SPTD pass through remover.

Uninstall Daemon ToolsDownload the SPTD standalone installer and follow these steps:
Double click the executable to open itClick on the button shown below

If the button is grayed out, like in the image, there is no more SPTD installation on your system, and you can close the window

Hi. Until yesterday, I had Handbrake 10.2 installed. On launch, a message appeared (within the GUI) inviting me to click for 10.3. Which I did. I can't recall the exact sequence of events but it appeared to have gone smoothly and I was left with a popup saying Do you really want to uninstall 10.2? I said Yes as that seemed logical.

I then went to open up 10.3 ? nothing there. The only Handbrake related file I could find was a defunct link to the shortcut I had on my desktop. Ah well, so off I went and downloaded the 10.3 installer. But before I ran it, I used regedit to delete all registry entries referring to Handbrake. That way, my PC would be 'clean' right?

After the install, 10.3 launched and immediately showed a message about my previous presets and there it was ? 10.3 had the custom preset that I'd made with 10.2! Not only that, but 10.3 was able to load a DVD with DRM protection. To do that with 10.2, I had to copy a 'special' dll file into Program Files/Handbrake.

It seems I was mistaken then. Uninstalling a program and then deleting registry entries doesn't 'clean' your PC. Otherwise, my Handbrake 10.3 wouldn't have known about my old preset nor would it have the 'special' dll file.

So how DO you completely remove a program?

Hello. I'm ripping DVDs so that I can post snippets of scenes to put on Youtube videos within fair dealing laws. I'm trying to rip DVDs with Handbrake and it does create a file with playable videos, and there are no problems with the sound. However the picture quality comes out noticeably degraded. This might be a compression but I'm not sure.

I've tried adjusting the bar of the "Constant Quality -- RF" bar under the video section to increase image quality before downloading and adjusting over relevant variables but to no avail.

What do I need to do to resolve this issue?

With regards,

I recently got into ripping Blu-ray movies and encoding them. However I have recently had a few blue screens with restarts. I use MakeMKV and it usually runs fine and doesn't give my problems. However, I have had problems encoding the MKV files with Handbrake v0.9.5. Here are my system specs:

Windows 7 64-bit Pro SP1
Intel Core i5-2500K (overclocked to 4 GHz)
8GB Corsair Vengeance RAM (Model CMZ8GX3M2A1600C9B)
ASRock Pro3 Gen3 Mobo (latest BIOS update 2.30)
Mushkin Chronos 120GB SSD
Seagate Barracuda 1TB HD
Nvidia GTX 560TI graphics card (slightly overclocked, can't remember speed)
Cooler Master Hyper 212+ CPU cooler

The case also has plenty of fans (7 to be exact). 2 intake fans in the front, 1 intake in the side, 1 intake on the front of the cooler, 1 outtake on the rear of the cooler, and 2 outtake on the back and top. So the tower is staying cool. I'm running AXTU Hardware Monitor during the encoding and temps are staying steady around 50C, which I've heard are normal. The encoding is about 50% now and so far no crashes or spikes in temperature.
I thought the memory may be the culprit and I ran MemTest86. It returned one error after a few hours of running. I have not taken the RAM out to test each module or clean the slots. The timing is set at 9-9-9-24 and I dialed down the speed to 1333 from 1600.
That's all I can think of now but if I forgot something, don't be afraid to ask. Please someone help me!

Hello,

It has been mentioned in this forum and some other places also that 2D rendering (including user interface) in Windows 7 is hardware accelerated when Aero theme is turned on, and the same rendering is stopped from being hardware accelerated when Aero theme is turned off.

I didn't have a chance to ascertain this relation between Aero and 2D acceleration practically, because when I was using Windows 7, Aero was always turned off. If it is true what was said in the paragraph above, how this acceleration affects application user interface performance if this application is written with GDI (predecessor of Direct2D)? Is its user interface performance difference noticeable (acceleration compared to no acceleration)? Can someone help and make two quick 2D tests on the same machine (that has necessary graphics card and other drivers for Windows 7 installed), for example, using PassMark PerformanceTest benchmarking program, while Aero is turned on and then turned off, and post comparison results in the form of the screenshot of the whole 2D Graphics Mark tab, to make some assessions in this regard?

How application user interface performance is different for two versions (one written with GDI, and the other with Direct2D) of the same application with very basic functionality, with the same controls on the window, etc., when they are run/benchmarked, while 2D rendering hardware acceleration in Windows 7 is turned on and off?

I couldn't find it, but is there an example of two ... Read more

A:regarding Windows 7 2D rendering hardware acceleration

I don't know anyone who has done any extensive benchmarks comparing GDI and WPF/Direct2D applications. However, the majority of GDI is not hardware accelerated. Also turning Aero off is entirely pointless (unless your Graphics card is a POS). But turning Aero off for "performance" reasons is backwards. You want Aero to be on when running Windows Vista/7.
