Preferred Solution: Browser That keeps Increase/decrease Text settings?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Alright, so this is about a sound problem, but my tests make me think it's something to do with Windows 7. Here's the issue :

I have a SteelSeries Merc Stealth keyboard with buttons for increasing and decreasing volume. The decreasing volume works, but the increasing does not. So, if I want to increase the volume (in a game, for instance), I would have to alt-tab. I thought this was because my keyboard was somehow broken and that particular button didn't work anymore.

However, I just received a brand new pair of Corsair HS1 headphone. On the cable of the headphones are buttons to increase and decrease the volume of Windows. So, as you may guess, the decreasing button works, but not the increasing one.

Since the probably of having two defective items, one being new for the exact same problem being so slim, my guess is that something in Windows 7 is off. So, can anyone help?

Here's my specs :
Gigabyte X58A-UD3R
Intel i7 Quad Core @2.67GHz
Corsair TX750 750W PSU
Corsair Vengeance 3x4BG CL9-9-9
Gigabyte Radeon HD 6870
Corsair Vengeance 12GB 3x4GB DDR3-1600 CL9-9-9-24 Triple Channel
Windows 7 64-bits w/ Service pack 1

A:Can decrease volume, but can't increase

Just to specify as a proof the buttons work, when I use a program that enable Global keys like Winamp, the volume of that program will increase or decrease. It's the Windows volume that doesn't increase.

As the title states. I'm planning on trading my dad laptops. I do audio production and gaming. I have an i3 and the cpu is clocked at 2.4 ghz and he has an i5 clocked at 1.8. How much of a difference will this impact performance? For better or worse?

Im curious because I had a desktop a while back and it had a Core 2 Duo @ 2.8 and I went to this i3 @2.4 laptop and the cpu sucks in comparison to the desktop...I was originally thinking the i3 would be a increase since it was newer architecture.

I would still think on the graphics side its definitely an upgrade because the i3 uses Intel HD Graphics and it sucks...it doesnt even use opengl. The other uses a Nvidia GeForce GT 740M.

A:(2.4 Ghz i3) to (1.8 Ghz i5) Increase or decrease in perf?

The difference between the desktop and laptop is multifaceted. Desktop probably had faster hard drive, dedicated video, and optimized for performance versus laptop optimized for battery life.

And the core i3/5/7 each do graphics onboard. The slower the cpu, the more impact the graphics will have on overall performance. Core i3 are budget machines, for basic tasks. They are not really suitable for gaming or video and music production. The core i5 will suit better in these areas.

That was example set partition 80 for C; and created D: drive 40 GB from the original one drive. I installed programs in before that is now filled up almost all of drive C: 80GB partitioned. If I move (some) of the preinstalled program to D: drive will the moved programs stop working? Some program demand to be installed to only C: or it will not install at all.

Downstairs I get 10mb/s(normal for me)

Could this be a driver issue?

Could be a driver issue, a signal noise issue (even if you are getting 5 bars) or could be your upstairs PC is using the G band when the downstairs is using N band.

Good day!  I am an IT Systems Support Engineer and give support mostly to business clients, but also to some residential clients.  Due to the recent growth of Windows 10 upgrades, I'm curious if anyone has noticed an increase or decrease with questions about Windows 10.  I throw in decreasing, since I've been asked quite a bit about Win 10.
I am new to posting on this site, but I've used this site before, when I came across something that I hadn't seen before.  I really enjoy this site and when it helped me with an issue, I always put this site as a resource.
Thanks for reading and I am eager to know anybody's thoughts about the topic title.

A:Will Windows 10 increase or decrease support questions?

I haven't installed Win 10 yet...but I have seen the introduction of every Windows system since Win 95 and it occurs to me that what is currently reflected is the same amount (or even more) of puzzlement, rhetoric, and uncertainty...that comes with every version of Windows...until the first SP is issued.  Once that occurs, users seem to settle down and have become more familiar with what are imagined problematical situaitons, as opposed to real problems where they need/want assistance with specific types of system situations.

Hi,
I just got a Lenovo Z460 running on windows7.
By default, the harddisk is split into c:\ and d:\

I want to decrease the disk space of c drive and then use this additional space to increase the disk space of d drive (the logical drive)

To decrease the disk space in c drive, I go to computer management/storage/disk management and then at the c drive, I right click the mouse and then choose "shrink volumn". I successfully shrinked c drive and now I got an unallocated space but how do I allocate this new space to d drive. The "extend volume" in d drive is greyed.

Thanks

A:Solved: how to decrease and increase disk space

The windows partitioning tool is somewhat limited in that it will only extend a partition to the right, so you're going to need an additional tool.

I personally use a Live Linux CD with an included partitioning program, usually GPartEd. If you're not familiar or comfortable with Linux then someone else will have to recommend another tool.

Keep in mind, whatever tool you use will take quite awhile to extend that partition because it not only extends the partition but also moves all the data to the beginning of the newly extended partition. It looks like you've got about 10-11 Gigs of data on there so it can take possibly half an hour or more.

A somewhat convoluted solution possible with the windows partition tool would be:

1) Create a new partition with the unallocated space. Let's call it F drive.

2) Copy/paste all the data from the D drive into the new F drive.

3) Delete the D drive.

4) Extend the F drive to include the now unallocated space on the right of the new F drive.

5) Rename F drive to whatever you want.

Depends on your text sizing, I have mine at 8 and it keeps to one line; 9 and higher, though, I think it starts to wrap.

I don't think you can change the size of the fonts used by Chrome for its buttons and menus, but you can increase the size for all Windows items by going to Start > Control Panel > Display. It's set to 100% by default and can be increased to 125% or 150%.

Also, if you click the 'Set custom text size (DPI)' link on the left, you can increase just the text size without affecting things like buttons, scrollbars, etc. Drag the slider to find the best DPI setting.

Not sure how to even phrase the question so maybe that's why I'm not getting any relevant search results [though I've learned more about fonts and sizing than I ever needed to know ]. It strikes me as hopelessly inconsiderate and inconvenient, but it really is not possible: you cannot increase the text size in windows 7. This a major problem, since the text size is extremely small by default.

Now, some people have mentioned possible solutions, yet I cannot call these 'solutions' adequate or good at all.

Increasing the DPI is the most common way to get around his problem. Unfortunately, as I was increasing the DPI to the point where I could comfortably read the text in 7, everything else got bigger as well. Too big.

Naturally, decreasing the resolution is even worse than increasing DPI, because you lose image quality that way.

Then I read this:

Fonts - Change[2]=Appearance%20Personalize

It seemed like I finally found out how to fix this problem. But no. Even if, (and I won't, it just looks too bad) if would choose to pick the classic or high-contrast theme, I still would not be able to increase all the text size. Yes, some of the text can be made larger, but not all.

Which again strikes me as a design flaw.

The question is: why on earth is it not possible to increase sizes of all the text in windows 7? And I really mean all of it, in menu's, taskbar, message windows, in explorer - no exceptions.

Increasing DPI - what a bad idea. I want to specifically increase text size, I don't want to make everything bigger. This makes no sense.

I am going to have to file many, many complaint to microsoft if there will not come a fix for this problem soon.

Press Windows key +U, bring up Ease of access options, shows ways to make it larger, but this would affect all on desktop i believe. Only other way, right click desktop, select View, make icon bigger. Believe in certain instances when text is long will cut off some of it, can rename it different to fit it also. I am using a Toshiba 64-bit laptop, running Windows 10 Home, 8gb memory, 1Tb hard drive.

Unfortunately, I did an update to Windows 10 and lost all the readable sized text in the toolbars, menus, etc, not only in Windows but also in MS Office 2013. I really need to be able to make just the font larger than 9 pts. I don't want the apps and icons so large they jump off the screen at me. And who in their right mind would think that 9pts was an acceptable size font? It should never be less than 12. They obviously have never tried looking at a screen for 36 hours straight while trying to solve a major production problem.

Since the Appearance and Personalization option has disappeared out of Windows 10, did the Office developers have the intelligence and forethought to retain the ability to make the text in the menu and toolbars larger for those of us who don't have 20/10 vision? If so, where would I find that option?

I have spent almost two days trying to fix this problem, and YES, I view it as a definite problem that should be fixed as soon as humanly possible. You can just imagine how aggravated I am at this point.

Thank you for any help you can provide.

Greetings,

I use XP, but the "window text" - e.g., the text inside XP windows when opening a folder giving its contents - is becoming too small for my ageing eyes.

It seems that this can be modified only if under Deskrop > Properties > Display Propeties one choses "Windows Clasic Style" rather than "Windows XP Style". The option to change font size is greyed-out if one goes to"Advanced Appearance" and selects "Window". Selecting "Windows XP Style" overrides some of the options that would otherise be available.

Curiously, if one selects "Active Title Bar WIndow" and changes rhe font size, the dialog box preview changes both the Title font and the displayed Window Text, but if all that  is accepted, only the tite font is changed.

So - is there either a change in the Registry that can be made to alter the default "Windows XP Style" settings for this, or another registry change, or a bit of software that can increase the font in "Window Text" without changing everything else? I know about changing DPI, etc., but I would prefer not to make global changes. (On one forum someone suggested making global changes and then reducing the font size on everything else...).

Thank you.

A:increase size of "window text" only - is there a registry change to do this?

Have you tried the Windows suggestion of using High Contrast in the Accessibility Options \ Display?  It may solve your problem although I have to admit, I didn't like the appearance of Windows when I tested it.    Changing the DPI setting may be the simplest solution and you can always change it back if you don't like the results.  Mine is set at 96dpi and it works for me and my eyes are shot!  You could even use the Custom DPI setting to a size of your choice.  Nothing ventured, nothing gained.

Hi there
Any "tinkerers" or customisation gurus out there.

On a laptop even with a decent size screen is there any way to increase the font size of text of applications installed via "classic windows install" such as Office / photoshop etc. (Not Metro apps).

On those smaller but absolutely stunning "Ultrabooks" the text becomes quite hard to read too - if you increase the font size "globally" in windows then you have problems with some screens not fitting properly - so I just want to increase the text within the tiles.

enc magnified screenshot of a typical tile -- even here the text is relatively small .

But you need a little Binary knowledge for them, or use something like registry workshop to do it for you. You can import those keys from Windows 7. I absolve myself from blame, should anything go wrong - lol.

Inspiron 640m / E1405.
Vista 32-bit.

That is what I'm running^^^

I wanted to download maps for hiking from this site...
http://seamless.usgs.gov/index.php

However, in order to get a picture I have to have a minimun screen resolution of 1280 X 1024 pixels.
When I go to my display settings I'm currently at 1280x800 and I can't get any higher. How can I get to 1024 so I can work with these maps?

Thanks in advance!

A:How to increase my display settings?

Control Panel -> System and Maint -> System ->
" Advanced Systems Setting" tab -> "Advance" tab -> click on "Settings" under "Performance -> "Advanced" tab -> Change Virtual Memory.

Virtual Memory Paging File - Change

You can clear the check box to automatically manage paging.
Go to Drive [Volume Label]
Click on Custom Size, select size, click okay, and that's it!

Approximately a month ago I noticed the frequency that ads appeared increase, not only did they begin to appear in unusual places but on top of other ads swell. On top of this, every so often when I click a link or type a new URL I will be redirected to a site ( which I don't think looks entirely legit) telling me to update either Google chrome or adobe flash player. The general speed of my PC also seems to have reduced.
If anyone has any info or help, it'd be much appreciated.

Please download Junkware Removal Tool and save it on your desktop.

Shut down your anti-virus, anti-spyware, and firewall software now to avoid potential conflicts.
Run the tool by double-clicking it. If you are using Windows Vista or Windows 7, right-click it and select Run as administrator.
The tool will open and start scanning your system.
Please be patient as this can take a while to complete depending on your system's specifications.

when I use Korea IME then I focus on input box IE browser to increase memory
it occurs only on Window7 IE11.
My HTML page has 10M byte JS library which is made by me.
I know I have to check my JS library so I fixed as much as I know through seaching the internet.
but I couldn't figure out the reason for increasing memory. if I refresh one time after focus to input box with Korea IME mode on my library it's increased 9M byte memory.
eventhough I tested without my library, it increases the memory in IE browser. if you toggle comment as sample code it will have much increase in memory
you can test using the  sample code. so I doubt that it could be IE browser bug.
Do you have any idea about this issue?
Thank you for your comment.

I hope this is in the right section of the forum to post this problem. If not, then please move it

Basically, over the past week or so I've noticed that my browser (Firefox) has started to slow down. It just seems slow to refresh things. It's as if the browser pauses for a second at random times. This is notable during video playback, where I could be watching a video on YouTube, and the video just freezes for a second and then resumes. The audio carries on fine, but the screen freezes up for a split second. Another sign that this happens is while I am typing. Even as I type this post, when the browser 'pasues', the cursor and letters don't appear, but then quickly write out after the pause. It still seems to register the letters I'm typing during the pause though (most of the time).

Not just this, but I am seeing an increase in CPU usage when watching videos on sites like YouTube. It's a real pain and slows the whole PC down. I think even when I play Windows Media Player the CPU usage increases considerably.

I don't know, I just wonder if there might be any solutions to this or what the cause might be. Would I need to do a HijackThis log at all? Many thanks for those who can help.

PC stats:

Windows Vista Home Premium 32-bit
Acer Aspire 5920 laptop
Intel Core 2 Duo Processor T5450 (1.66 GHz)
2 GB DDR2

My husband and I bought a new computer (yay tax season) and I was trying to see the text better. I went to the "make text size larger" and changed everything to twenty without thinking twice about it (yes, yes, I was being a dummy). I figured if I didn't like it, I could just hit a return to default button and it would be ok. My problem is I can't find such a button. Can someone tell me the default text settings so I can get my nice, everything-fits-as-it-should display back? Thanks in advance. ~*Aimee

A:What are the default text settings on Windows8 for pc?

I guess since you changed everything to 20 that makes the Apply button on the bottom right goes off the screen as shown below:

First click on Adjust Resolution and set your Monitor to highest Resolution. Then click Apply

Next, In this case, you'll need to use the TAB key or SHIFT+TAB Key to get to the Apply key:
TAB key will cycle through the options in forward directionSHIF+TAB key will cycle through the options in backward direction
Having said that, let set Title bars to 12 then click TAB, the option will high lite Bold, TAB again will high lite the Apply button which you cannot see since it's off screen, hit ENTER key will apply the setting. You have to repeat the steps for Menus, Messages Box, Palettes icon etc...

Good Luck !!!

How come every time I open IE it defaults back to the text size setting from which I changed it from.

ie: Every time I open IE it shows 'medium' for the text size. I want it to stay on 'smaller' but yet when I reboot the computer it defaults back to the medium setting.

Why is this?

This is really a quite irritating thing, but it is fairly easy to resolve. If you are using MS Outlook (not OE), read this:

. If you are using any version of Eudora from v. 4 up to the present v. 5.2.1 you can solve the problem by going to Tools, options, Viewing mail, and taking the check mark out of the use MS Viewer. Try it, it works[
