Network Problem

Q: Network Problem

XP...Hard wired to router. After connecting to my home page, I can't load ANY other pages (sites). Get error message saying "reset". All other machines on system working fine. No ip conflict messages. Tried releasing the ip address and renewing with no better results. Help!!!

Preferred Solution: Network Problem

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

A: Network Problem

I think it would be easier to diagnose if you can give us the rest of the error message. Or is the message only just "Reset". If it is I have no idea what that is.
Are you able to ping a site like google.com or yahoo.com? If you are able to then your connection is fine.
Try restarting, but im not sure if this will help and you might have already done this. lol.

Hi peeps, here's a seemingly unsolvable problem I have:

I want to network my two PCs (An Acer Vista Laptop and my old HP XP Desktop) so that I can play network games (Operation Flashpoint).

So I connect them both wirelessly to the router (a cheap SWEEX one). Now when Iook on my Vista Laptop's Network place I can see the Laptop I'm using the router (and can access it's page and everything) but I can't see my XP desktop from here. And when I go into the Desktop's network places I can't see the router or either of the computers I'm using.

And I assume that this network problem is why I can't see a server in my game.

Now I understand that file and printer sharing is turned, the firewall is definately turned off and I think the appropriate services are turned on (well to make sure I turned every single service on ) There must be some more complex reason why my XP hates to network!

Although I am by no means a noob to general computing I am reasonably new to networking. Can you clever lot help me?

So i'm having an issue connecting my desktop to my home network for file sharing. My Desktop is connected to the internet like so: Desktop ->(Ethernet cable)-> Uverse 2wire router -> Internet.

I have no issues with my internet connection, and in fact I am posting this from my desktop now. Windows Network Diagnostics finds no issues when I run the trouble shooter. and when I try to connect to a home group it refers me to the network issue.

This issue has plagued me for about 6 months now. I have talked to Uverse tech support, and many of my friends who are into computers and have gotten no answers. Computer is running windows 7 SP1 and again the router is the Uverse 2wire router

How can I make my desktop available for network sharing?

Also here is a screenshot of the network map according to this computer

I have installed server 2003 on a small network and created a domain that is the same as the public domain name (ie the companies website).

This is now causing a problem because when i type in the public address (for example www.company.com) it is trying to resolve it locally - because the local domain name is also company.com.

Does anyone know if there is a way to get round this problem?

Many thanks in advance

A:problem with the local network having the same domain name as the public network

add 'local.' to the internal domain or change it altogether.

Your public domain should not have any connection into your private infrastructure,
but you may have references from private->public; not very common.

Hello, i am new here on the forum. Im looking for any gentle help i can get here from you guys who might be able to figure out my problem.
For some time ago (around 1 month) ive been having problems with my internet from time to time which include a really slow responding or sending into the internet. It is so that sometimes my ping goes up above 200ms and stays there for a quite some time (maybe an hour or more). I check my ping using cmd and typing "ping ping.sunet.se". I can also feel that the delay is huge when playing online games, so there is deffenitly something wrong with the sending and responding. Also when i check my connection in mb/s using some homepages that calculates it, like "bredbandskollen.se" (a swedish page). And here i see that the mb/s speed is prefectly fine (around 7mb/s recieving and 0.4-0.1mb/s sending). Not sure if the sending speed is accepting thou. And when my internet is busy, like when i am streaming something or things like that, my responding speed gets a bit better like 150ms, thou when my internet is doing fine and works as it should i usually stay around 20ms ^^ so something must be wrong.
Now i woundering what might cause my internet troubeling. Any thoughts would be great, thanks!

I have a Linksys BEFSR81 router and a Linksys WAP54G connected to it. I recently installed a Linksys Network Storage Link NSLU2 to the network with a Maxtor One Touch HD. I have been able to map the new network drive to my computer that is connected to the router, but I'm unable to map the drive on my second computer that is connected to the network via the AP. However I can ping the Linksys NAS from my wireless computer.

A:Mapping Network Drive on Wireless Network Problem

like most NAS devices, the Linksys nslu2 has built in security administered through a web browser. You probably need to create a user acount for the wirelessly-attached computer, either by machine name, IP address, user id, or some combination of the above. You may also have to grant permission to the user or user group for the specific share you are trying to map. hope this helps.

I added a printer to my network (hp c5180) via ethernet cable. But problem accords when I try to map a network location (card reader 5in1 or sth like that, is used to read SD, xD, ms cards used in cameras) from which I d like to copy images, files in explorer without extra software from HP. After I installed drivers for printer, it automatically map a network location but when I try to open it or connect to that location I get an error:

"Access code is invalid"
The network path is "\\\Memory_card"
I copied this link in to my internet browser (in this case its g Chrome) and I was able to connect to the network location:

Its strange because all of XP based computers can easily connect, problem is only with windows 7 based computers.
Somewhere I found that this could be repaired with changing: (below)

1. Open the Administrative Tools in the Control Panel
2. Open the Local Security Policy
3. Select the Security Option under Local Policies
4. Choose Send LM & NTLM responses in Network security: LAN

or in reg:

In Windows 7, we can set the following Registry key ?HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Contr ol\Lsa\LMCompatibilityLevel? to ?1?.

But this solutions dont work in my case.

Does somebody know hot to fix this and what is causing it??

So im at a complete loss here....

I have a windows 7 pro x86 computer that out of the blue stopped connecting to its network drives. I tried a few things like flushing the dns, re-registering, new IP finally I decided to rejoin it to the domain, big mistake. The computer couldn't contact the domain controller even though all the info was correct. I ended up doing a restore to the week prior updated the NIC drivers and everything seemed to be working.

The following day it happened again I tried the same few fixes and the solution this time was to uninstall all the hidden devices under the network adapter, after a reboot I got into the drives just fine. Now everytime the user shuts his computer down he gets this same problem. My boss ran into the same problem on another machine the other day so Im hesitant to restore, I would prefer a fix in case this shows up again.

The computer can get online and use our email through outlook but network resources are all gone. The machine can also ping all of the servers but wont connect with \\xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx IP or \\servername\share even with credentials entered.

Ive looked all over with no success.

A:Very strange problem connecting to network drives / network.

Welcome to Seven Forums,

If it's now happening to another computer, I'd unplug the router and switch(es) for 20 to 30 seconds. Also, check on your computer's Security or Firewall programs installed, make sure that they are up to date and not blocking the ports and network resources. You may try disabling the program(s) temporarily for debugging purpose.

An update will be nice.

I got help to a BSOD problem in the crashes and bugs forum. Impressed with the help i received i was hoping to get help for a network issue ive had for a while.

I am using a cablet connection with my Zyxcel P2602 HWT modem. The modem/router is provided by my internet provider. It also supports a wireless connection.

When i start my computer both the connections is fine. After a while though the cabled connection is said to be unidentified. It works as a local connection, but has no internet access. When i run the diagnoses for the connection it again recognize the network and its working fine for a while until the same happens.

I tried upgrading the driver without luck. The version now says Atheros AR8121/AR88113/AR88114 PCI-E ethernet Controller (NDIS6.20
Driver date: 11.06.2009

If there is information needed ill be happy to provide.

Hello DonkrDjay, welcome to SF!

As a test, can you check what IP number your router gives you (through its DHCP server i hope) when it works well?
Then when it stops working... is it still the same or did you get a totally different IP for your PC?

Second, if posible, could you post snips of your router DHCP settings?

I recently had a computer that crashed and had to be rebuilt. Now that it is back up and running, Im having problems with mapping network drives. Specifically, two maps that were previously working.

If I go to my network places, all of the shares are present from all computers. I can get into all of them, except for two, both on the same computer. (on a windows XP pro) (the rebuild is also windows xp pro)

\\computer1\apps is not accessible. you may not have permission to use this network resource. contact the administrator of this server to find out if you have access permissions. Access is Denied.

I checked the folders, both show access to everyone. I can access them from another computer. Simple file sharing is turned off on all computers. I can ping all computers, and vice versa. Netbios over TCP/IP is enabled on all computers.

any ideas?

let me know if you need more information, I can get whatever is needed.

For 2 years, My XP computer has had no problems picking up 10-20 wireless connections in my neighborhood, some i could connect to,some i could not because they were secured.

i decided to go straight , and purchase DSL.

i bought a new computer(vista) and got a westell 327 DSL modem, which is also a wireless router. The new computer is working fine, i called Verizon to set up the new computer's dsl wireless network, that worked out fine.

My old computer, the one i spoke about opening this thread, that computer immediately picked up the DSL signal from my new computer in the other room.. The signal was excellent and the name of the network WAS ON THE LIST of the dozen other wireless connections i could connect to. Problem is when i went to connect to my own DSL network, i got this error message:

"Limited or no connectivity
You might not be able to access the internet or some network resource. This problem occurred because the network did not assign a network address to the computer."

I typed in the correct password, the little icon in the corner of my computer said both computers were connected, and with an excellent signal strength. Reiterating: i could still connect and go online with the other avaiable networks running the computer, but not my own.

I have an interesting problem that has been driving some pretty smart IT guys nuts. To perform my job I have to access a certain venders web pages that has security set up that I do not know all the details of. Anyway on the company PC using the company image that is a normal XP image and maintained by Comp U Com.

Any time I access this vender's web page it works fine until just after the log in screen. Once I put in my user name and password and click Ok IE just goes blank white and that's it. No error msg no nothing, its not locked up as the frame is still there and the world is turning but nothing else.

This happens on all the company PCs accessing this particular vender's web page as I went and checked. So I wanted to see if it the problem was in the PC or the network. I took the company PC home and was able to successfully log into that vender's web page from my cable modem at that house. Worked fine.

I have already added the vender web pages to the trusted zone and enabled all the active X and everything, deleted the cookies, tried some proxies etc. Every setting that can be done on the PC I have tried.

My question is what is the company network security system blocking that IE needs to work and how to resolve?

would you post the following tests when the internet is working OK, and then repeat ALL the tests when the internet disconnects.
Make sure you also indicate on the reply which tests are for what condition.
please include the xirrus screen shots for both conditions - see how below.

Please post back here the make and exact model of the router and if you have a separate modem, the make and exact model of the modem.

What firewall / security suite or anti-virus do you currently have on the PC - or you have ever had on the PC in the past - any trial ware - like Norton, Mcafee , AVG etc

If you cannot access the internet with this PC, then you will need to paste the results into something like notepad and then copy onto a machine that can access the internet and post the results in a reply here.

We would like to see the results from an ipconfig /all - post back the results in a reply here.

Hi everyone

I need to see if anyone has a solution to my problem. I have a Dell Inspiron 1525 and my granddaughter has a Dell Inspiron i15-157B. I added her laptop to our wireless network (Linksys wireless-G broadband router model WRT54GS). Everything works fine as long as she's here in our home, but when she goes home and we try to connect our webcams through Yahoo Messenger, I can see and hear her just fine. She can see me but can't hear me. Why would it work here and not there? I'm wondering if it's something with our home network.

Her laptop at home is connected directly to the internet, but they will be setting up a wireless router also. We both use Vista.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hello Everyone,
I am new to this forum. I am hoping someone maybe able to help me diagnose and fix the problem with this problem. I have a problem with Acer Aspire One Network Adapter. The problem is that the netbook will connect to the internet and will have full bars for internet connectivity. Then a few minutes later it will just disconnect on it's own! I can usually reconnect by going on the Network & Sharing Center, then going into Diagnose problems, then clicking on Network Adapter, then after it resets, it will usually reconnect to the Internet, but lately it won't reconnect! I then have to restart the netbook. The netbook is running Windows 7 Starter, and it has Atheros AR5BXB63 Network Adapter. My friend who is a computer person searched online to confirm if the drivers were up to date, said that was not the problem. I would like any advise anyone can give me to see if this netbook can be fixed before I have to buy another! Please advise?

Are you getting any 'link light' on the card you plug the cable into? Usually a little green light or Amber I think it is on Dell. If you are not I suggest trying a different cable from your modem to your PC.

Also, is your PC directly connected to the modem or into a router?

And when setting your IP address are you going to Start --> Control Panel --> Network Connections?

PCs are Win 7 Ultimate, All are joined to the Domain
Domain Controller, DNS, DHCP Server (on same instance) is Server 2012 standard
The network topology is like this: Router as Internet Gateway>Switch>Wired to Server and PC's, SIP phones, and Wireless Access Point all on same subnet. DNS and DHCP have been offloaded to Server Roles and switched off on the router.
All of the PCs have network cards that have joined the domain network at least some of the time since I set them up.
Some of them have always picked up the domain network and continue to this day.
Some of them intermittently pick up the domain network and other times join whatever other unmanaged network is available.
Some of them have stopped picking up the domain network altogether and will, no matter how many times their NICs are restarted, always join a non-domain (unmanaged) network.
When the NICs are not joining the domain, they are unable to ping hostnames of any devices on the network but nslookup of the hostnames usually works. The DC, DNS, DHCP server's IP can be pinged without issue, ipv4 or ipv6.
I am recording DNS Client Errors (ID 1014) on all of the PCs during the intervals when their NICs are identifying which network to join.

-On the PCs that are catching the domain network I am only getting a single error about the root domain, eg the domain is ad.domain.com and I am only getting errors about how the configured DNS servers cannot resolve domain.com (nothing with fully qualified

Hi guys

I desperately need to transfer files from one pc on my network to the other pc. And in typical computing fashion the network does not want to work today at all. I have attached a picture of my network map as it makes the problem a bit easier to explain. I need to transfer files from Jamie-PC to Chillout-PC, both on W7, and I have done this hundreds of times before by going to my network clicking Chillout-PC, navigating the folder I want to put my files in and then copying and pasting them in.

However when I tried to this today clicking on Chillout PC in the Network section brings up the following message "Windows cannot access \\CHILLOUT-PC" with the error code 0x80070035. The strange thing is I can connect from Chillout-PC to Jamie-PC as normal. The problem has probably come about since I installed a new copy of Windows 7 on Chillout-PC a couple of weeks ago.

I believe that the problem lies in the network map I attached. Jamie-PC connects directly to my netgear router and this is what Chillout-PC used to do as well but now it connects through a switch and the Network and Sharing center calls the network "Network" not NETGEAR which is what it is called on Jamie-PC. I believe I need to get rid of the switch in my network but have no idea where it came from or how to get rid of it and reconnect Chillout-PC directly to the router.

Any suggestions on how to fix this problem would be greatly appreciated as would any methods of transfering 20GB+ of d... Read more

I have a small network with 3 Win 7 Pro computers and 4 XP Pro computers and a NAS.
Everything was fine until about 2 weeks ago when 1 Win 7 Pro box stopped reading the network.

All comps are mapped to the NAS and all have File and Print sharing turned on and are also connected to a network printer.
All other computers can see the 1 box in question shared folders and can write to it.
This 1 offending box still has its connection to the network printer through a local tcp port pointing to the printers IP.
This is the only thing working This 1 box lost its mapped connection to the NAS and in the "NETWORK" window nothing shows up.
Also in the network window the address bar does NOT show the progress bar scanning the network.
Trying to connect to either the NAS or other computers with names (\\NAS) or IP ( does NOT work.

I have gone over all network settings dozens of times and many reboots with no joy, and have tried many fixes suggested from searches done on the problem.

I am stumped now and seeking help.
I am new to this forum but I have been networking computers for over 10 years. I think I know what I am doing and yes I have turned on network discovery and all that in the "network and sharing center" advanced settings.

I'm almost afraid to ask but which A/V software are you using on these machines?

I recently set up a home network between my windows XP computer and my win 98 computer. I had a little problem getting it to work with microsoft's network setup wizard. Specifying the IP address instead of letting it autodetect helped, but I still have a problem with this network.

On my win98 machine, whenever I go to network neighborhood and try to access my win XP machine I get an error message, "//Athlon is not accessible. The computer or sharename could not be found. Make sure you typed it correctly, and try again.

If I try to access the win98 machine from my Win XP machine then everything appears to work ok.

Does anyone know how to fix this?

Hello... Thanks in advance for your time and assistance.

Problem: Unable to connect to the internet thru router

Hardware: Motorola Modem, Netgear N-300 WNR2000v3 router, Dell Vostro 470

History: The above listed hardware configuration worked for internet access until I bought a new Dell for my dad. Actually, it worked for about 10 minutes (as I downloaded some anti-virus software and Win 7 updates). After I downloaded and installed the Windows 7 security updates(46 to be exact), I could not get access again. Would rolling back the updates(or going to a restore point) be advisable? If so, how would I do that in Win 7. My computer at home is XP, so I don't have much knowledge of Win 7. What's kind of weird is that my mom's computer, which is also connected(wired, not wireless) to the same router works.

Any help would be appreciated.

I am helping my neighbour to get her laptop (Windows Vista) to work wirelessly. It did work ok but not now.Even after I put the setup disc into it, it does not show that it has recognised the router. I can only get it to work by using an ethernet cable. I tried to install my router onto it and it came up with a message saying it had "two network adapters, please click on one of them" or words to that effect. It didn't show anything to click on!
Also she has recently bought a new desktop computer (Windows 7) and when I was looking into the routers settings it is still showing her name of the old PC she has scapped in the Network. Therefore on the BASIC NETWORK INFORMATION screen it says Network 2. I know this is probably not important but if she ever buys a new PC in the future it will show Network 3!! So what can I do to get rid of the old computer name on the router settings?
Is this the reason the wireless laptop needs to know which "Network" to use as the old computer name is Inactive.

can we see an xirrus screen shot - you will need to download and install while connected to the router

Run Xirrus Wi-Fi Inspector
Download and install
If you cannot access the internet with this PC, then you will need to copy the program across to the faulty PC
Save the file to a USB flash drive or other removable media. Plug it into the working computer with internet access and copy the file and install the program.
You will now need to take a screen shot and copy that back to the working PC and attach the screen shot in a reply on the forum here.

Direct link to the program is here http://info.xirrus.com/Wi-FiInspectorConfirmation.html

{If the above link does not work heres another link http://www.pcworld.com/downloads/file_download/fid,77196-order,4/download.html}

Then run and install the program - on a wireless enabled PC/Laptop
if you get an error - You need will need to haveNET Framework installed for the WiFi Inspector to function.

Run the program

A user guide is available here http://www.xirrus.com/cdn/pdf/Xirrus-Wi-Fi-inspectorguide-1-2-1-RevB-6.aspx

post a screen shot of the program running.

My computer keeps listing the internet connection as "limited". It does this randomly, I don't know when it will happen next. Restarting router/computer fixes it sometimes, but not all the time. Sometimes it takes about 4 restarts of the router until I get a proper connection. Trouble shooting merely describes the problem as having no connection and tells me to reconnect the router. This takes around 5 minutes each time and I'm getting tired of doing this, as it interrupts skype calls, games and conversations.

Is there any way of fixing this problem permanently?

Try method 3 first in this post at Microsoft

WIFI connection shows Limited Access windows 8 - Microsoft Community

If still no success, then go to your device manger and uninstall your wifi drivers and reboot

Then reconnect to your wifi with the dvd already connected.

You will need to re-enter your wifi password.

Okay here's the long story, If you'd like the quick story just skip to the last paragraph. Also note that I'm by no means a "computer guy", so if I use terms wrong I apologize upfront.

I'm at an apartment complex, Comcast's bulk cable/internet is included in the rent (i.e I can't just pick a new service... Trust I would have a long time ago) Anyways here is the problem, while the wireless connection works well, it intermittently goes out about every 20-30 minutes, at all times of the day and on multiple devices (2 windows laptops, PS3, and an IPad). If I bring up the network connection settings, it will show up as connected, however the blue globe on the internet icon in the bottom of my screen will be gone. At this point the web browser won't work. So my solution to the problem thus far has been disconnect, then reconnect every time this occurs (it allows me about 20 minute windows of operation). Seems simple but its very frustrating to repeatedly do this throughout the day.

So after about a week of this non-sense I called Comcast to notify them. Next day a guy comes out and basically explains to me that he believes the problem is being caused by my devices switching back and forth between access points (it may be worth noting that when I'm using my computer I am always within my living room which is about 12' by 15' I.E. pretty much the same spot). He goes on to say I am one of only 3 or 4 residents that has thi... Read more

We installed a new wireless router, Netgear RangeMax (WPN824) which is 802.11g. We have two computers hooked up to it in different parts of the house. It works great for internet and the speed is fantastic. Here is the rub. We have opened port 5190 and ICQ will connect and work great, but when our boys try to sign into AIM we get a message that says "The Instant Messaging Service cannot be reached." We get this same message on all the computers. We have tried hooking a computer directly to the cable modem and then it will connect, so it isn't the AIM network. We are stumped. Everything we read says AIM uses port 5190. Any suggestions on solving this problem?

Why not down this packet analyser and see what ports the AIM clients are sending out packets on. Then open these ports on the FW.

A client of mine has a peer to peer network at his office. He wants to add a laptop to the existing network of three computers. The laptop has WinXP Home and the rest have Win 98. We have them setup on TCP/IP. The problem is you can not access the shared resources on one computer (its named SERVER) from the laptop. You can access (SERVER) from all the other computers on the network but the laptop. You can access the laptop from all computers. I can ping the IP address to (SERVER)successfully, but when you use net view it can not see it, from the laptop. You can use net view to view (SERVER) one from all the other computers successfully, but from the laptop it gives an error that states: "Semaphore Timout has expired".
We can also see the laptop from all computer on the network, we cannot see the share resourses on the computer named SERVER.

Any assistance would be appreciated.

I would like to acces a different computer over the current network I am using.

When I go on the "network" folder, it shows and displays the range of computers that are currently on my network..

(I have tried in vain to deactivate on the computer I would like to connect to all of the restrictions)

When I select the computer that I wish to connect to and double click, an error message pops up, (I have tagged the image that hopefully you will see)

I have tried everything but there just has to be something that I am missing.

Might it be helpful if I were to precise that the computer I wish to connect to via the network is under Windows Vista Premium. (--> yea I know this is the Windows 7 site but lol I myself am under windows 7 so.. yeah ! ^^)

I appreciate your help guys..

I'm having a similar problem, guys. (first post, hi everybody)
Just bought a couple new machines (Win XP) today, and I'm trying to connect them to my office LAN. I manually entered an IP, gateway is correct, and so are the 2 DNS servers I entered (no other computer in the office has a problem with gateway or DNS).
In Network Connections, the LAN connection appears fine. I'm connected with an NVIDIA nForce Networking Controller, 100.0mbps.
In the Internet Options control panel, the connection does not show up (empty list in the "Connections" pane). The Add button doesn't bring up a relevant option, just Dial-up, VPN, and broadband, so I'm stuck. And, when I click the Setup button, it brings up that
blasted wizard that doesn't seem to have any effect at all. I've gone through that, and still no TCP/IP connection appears in the list on the Connections pane in Internet Options.
Any ideas?

what security suite do you have or ever had on the PC

lets see the following when its all working fine and then repeat all the tests when it fails

ipconfig /all
If you cannot access the internet with this PC, then you will need to paste the results into something like notepad and then copy onto a machine that can access the internet and post results here

We would like to see the results from ipconfig /all post back the results in a reply here

Hold the Windows key and press R, then type CMD then press Enter to open a command prompt box (A new dialogue box - black with white font, will appear on screen ):

In the command prompt window that opens, type the following command:

Note that there is a space before the /ALL, but there is NOT a space after the / in the following command.

ipconfig /all > network.txt & network.txt

It will export the results to notepad and then automatically open notepad.

Now all you need to do is copy and paste those results to a reply here
to do that:
From the notepad menu - choose Edit - Select all
all the text will be highlighted
From the notepad menu - choose Edit - Copy
Now go back to the forum - reply and then right click in the reply box and paste

I am using Wi-Max broadband connection. From some couple of weeks I have faced a network problem that in every time when I start my PC, it is not connected to internet automatically as before it was connected automatically. So when I start my PC two active network Home & Public are showing in Network and Sharing Center. The public network is showing Unidentified. But if I open Network and Sharing Center then > click on local area connection then > properties > then unmark the Network filter driver, the public network goes off automatically & I am connected to the internet. But after that I shut down PC and again restart PC the same problem is occurs that the public network comes automatically with Unidentified Network.

Then I do same process and mark the Network filter driver (N.B. previously I unmarked the network filter driver but this time I mark it) the Unidentified Public network goes off & connected to internet. Every time I start the PC I do the same process. So I request you to give some solution to permanently delete the Unidentified Public network & fix this problem. Thank You.

Unless that's connected directly to the modem, you have a connection issue.

Let's just reset things and see if we can't beat some sanity into the network.
The following procedure should get you a connection with any broadband modem that is configured to use DHCP for the router connection, such as cable modems, and many DSL modems. If you require PPPoE configuration for the DSL modem, that will have to be configured to match the ISP requirements.

Note that the wireless encryption and channel selection will have to be done after the basic wired connection is established, the first step is to get wired connections working.

Reset the router to factory defaults by holding the reset button down for 15 seconds with power on.
Turn off everything, the modem, router, computer.
Connect the modem to the router's WAN/Internet port.
Disconnect any USB connection to the modem, it will not be used.
Connect the computer to one of the router's LAN/Network ports.
Turn on the modem, wait for a steady connect light.
Turn on the router, wait for two minutes.
Boot the computer.

When the computer is completely booted, let's see this.

Hold the Windows key and press R, then type CMD (COMMAND for W98/WME) to open a command prompt:

NOTE: For the items below in red surrounded with < >, see comments below for the actual information content, they are value substitutions from the previous command output!
