outlook 20007 freezes after avg update

Q: outlook 20007 freezes after avg update

Hello; Yesterday, AVG 2011 did an automatic update on my ASUS n55sf laptop. After reboot, Outlook 2007 displays message " cannot display the view" and none of my folders can be opened. Spoke to AVG and loaded AVG 2012 internet security; same problem. Started outlook in safe mode and attempted to disable avg add on, but get message that I need to be logged on as administrator (I am the administrator and only user of the laptop. Went to program files x86, office 12, outlook and right clicked on outlook logo and selected run as administrator; still cannot disable avg add on, getting the same administrator message. any ideas anyone?

Preferred Solution: outlook 20007 freezes after avg update

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

A: outlook 20007 freezes after avg update

You can try to restore your computer, and seriously consider removing AVG and using something better, such as MSE

The choice is yours, please don't feel like I am pressuring you, just a recommendation. To remove AVG, use the correct uninstaller from AVG: AVG | Download tools and utilities

If you do not want to remove AVG, I would recommend bugging them until someone gives you the help you need, or waiting here for some other help from another member.

Do make sure windows is completely updated for compatability and stability reasons.

I am running windows XP home edition SP 2, accessing internet via Road Runner. I upgraded Internet Explorer. It froze so I killed it and restarted again. It finished properly the second time, or so it seemed.

IE7 ran OK the first time. The 2ns time it froze on a blank window. No toolbars, no status bar, no nothing, just the frame and blank inside.

Other symptoms: Internet Options opens up OK from the control panel, and every tab seems OK, but when I go connections, LAN settings, the button shows depressed, and the thing freezes.

I can access the WWW without a problem via Firefox. Outlook sends and receives email without a hitch. But any program that checks internet options to see about proxy settings or similar, freezes. Example Intellicast and the Zinio reader. Example the setup program for Max Registry Cleaner and Registry Mechanic.

I ran a virus scan with AVG. The machine was clean. I cleaned up the registry with RegistryFix. There were a lot of lose ends, now it is clean. I ran AVG Anti Spyware. It has a residue of 45 tracking cookies, nothing else. I uninstalled Intellicast and the Zinio reader. Nothing made a difference.

Here is the log from Hijack This. I will be most thankful for your help in figuring out this one.

I have a form which has a subform called SearchMainSub with displays data from the following:

If Me![SearchMainSub].Form.RecordsetClone.RecordCount = 0 Then
'MsgBox "No Maintenace Records Found", 48, "No Records Found"

The problem that I am having is that it only displays the first record. I have tired all of the options in the data field for RecordSet Type. It still only displays the first record. Anyone have any ideas? I hope this one is as easy as the other question I asked.

I have emailed spreadsheets created in Office 2003 to other staff members running Office 2007. They can open the attachment, work on the spreadsheet, save and close them. However, if they go back to the document later, it can't be seen. I say that deliberately; if you try to click on the document to open it, you will get the "can't open it it's already open" message. So it's there, somewhere, but nobody can see it.

I downloaded the compatibility patch from Microsoft, but no help.

This morning as I trawled the spam queues a sense of deja-vu descended on me when this subject line caught my eye:
Update for Microsoft Outlook / Outlook Express (KB910721)
Didn?t I see this a while ago and didn?t it contain a rather nasty Trojan?
The format of the October version differs slightly in that it includes a link to a website from which you may download the ?Microsoft/Outlook/Outlook Express Update? rather than an attached executable.

I'm using "3" Broadband, which doesn't have it's own email, so I am using my Hotmail addresses and download these through the Outlook Connector programme, which is not very satisfactory at the best of times.

This morning when I opened Office Outlook, I got a message saying I had to update Outlook Connector, which I duly did but now it seems to be in a loop and I still get a message to download the update, even though I have done so, so the update has obviously not updated properly.

Without this updatge I cannot read any new emails through Microsoft Office Outlook and I have to go to my Hotmail account.

Does anybody know how to fix this? I have Windows Vista and my firewall is Comodo and my antivirus is Avira.

A:Microsoft Outlook Connector Update does not update and becomes a loop

This is what happened last time - I posted more or less the same question and then the Connector decided to work, but only after I had updated it about 4 times!!

So, once again, I don't seem to need anybody's help, but thank you for reading this, if you have.

WinXP Pro, fully patched.
Office 2003.

User reports this issue occurs sporadically but on a regular basis. User looks at the keyboard while she types and occassionally while composing an email she looks up and find the text she typed did not come out. User indicates the cursor has changed into a "square box with some symbol in it" and she needs to shut down outlook at this point. Now this user has carpal tunnel and wears a brace which interferes with her typing. My best theory here is that while typing, she inadvertently hits some key combo that changes Outlook/Office/Windows into some other mode, similar to how you can change from "insert" to "overwright" mode. Does anyone have any other thoughts on what could account for this issue? Thx in advance!

How big are these attachments?

Are you allowing OL sufficient time to deliver mail before opening emails? I find this can slow down or "stall" it. I like to give it plenty of time to send/receive before interfering.

What's the size of your PST file(s)? Don't exceed 2GB, and I wouldn't exceed 1.5GB if it were me.

Do you keep your pc cleaned up?

I'm assuming you're a home user.

Someone please help!

I have MS Outlook 2002 install with Windows XP Pro - SP1. Every time I view or right click on an email that has an attachment, Outlook freezes and it has to be closed. Is there something I'm over looking? I don't think reinstalling will help - I just did a format recently and had the problem before AND after the format. So is NOT an intermitent problem - and I'm not sure what else to do. I tried updating the Office service packs but I couldn't update. So then someone told me to try using an Administrative Install Point in order to update - did that and updated to service pack 2. Immedialy after I installed Office SP2, I could view attachments and everything worked fine - one restart later, same old problem - please advise... I really need help! Thanks!

A:Outlook 2000 Freezes up!

I'm having the same problem except I use Outlook express. When I launch it, it automatically launches aim and doesn't respond for like 20 seconds (and it takes up half of the screen, I can't even resize it). I believe that it's downloading my mail and stuff - even though I told it to stop doing that at startup!!!

I can't seem to find the check box to disable aim from starting up.

in fact windows explorer has just started "NOT RESPONDING" too, seems to be catchy...

im not too bad on a computer but dont know all the tech stuff really. bit worried there is a virus/worm or something. seems to be heaps of software u can download to anaylyze & maybe fix stuff but dont know what to use or where to go from here.
Or have i unintentionally deleted something i shouldnt have?

A:outlook express freezes up

This isn't a fix to your freeze problem but a way to get out of Outlook Express without shutting down your computer. Press and hold down the following keys in this order Ctrl Alt Delete. This will launch the Task Manager. Use your mouse to select the frozen program from the list and click the End Task button. Be careful not to end the task of other programs in the list because many are vital to the normal operation of Windows. Ending the Task of a program basically closes down the program when it is frozen. Then you can still use your computer without shutting it down.

Hi everyone,

I am not sure if I have the right area or not, please let me know if I need to post elsewhere.

I have a problem with MS Outlook 2000, in that when I start it, if I click on a menu, it freezes, if I click on the outlook bar, it freezes, if I try to check email, it freezes, if I delete an item it freeze, etc... In other words, if I attempt to do anything, it freezes. To make matters worse, it also affects Firefox and/or IE so they freeze as well, and then I can not do anything on the internet either.

If I restart the computer, then everything is fine until I open Outlook again.

Anyway, Here is what I have tried so far...

restore to earlier time (to beginning of month)
delete outcmd.dat
scan for virus
scan for spyware

This just started yesterday and it is driving me crazy

Any help anyone can offer, I would truly appreciate.

Thanks in advance,

Outlook freezes everytime I start the program and click on a message with attachments. I've tried everything, virus scan, detect repair, updates...etc. It continues to experience the same problem.

One thing that I've found that allows me to use the program normally is to conduct a detect and repair everytime I start outlook and then restart my computer and the program will work after that. However, if I were to close outlook and try to open it again, it will have the same problem as I mentioned above and I would have to do another detect and repair and restart in order to get it to work.

1st time post--so I hope I'm doing this correctly. My Outlook has been running extremely slowly. Task manager shows that WINWORD.EXE is running eventhough I have not opened MS Word. Still the problem persists. I also noticed that Viewpoint Media Viewer shows up in my list of installed programs. I uninstalled, but am not sure if that alone will be effective.

Now, for about the last month or so, approximately 25% of the time, when I close OE by clicking the close box, I get a total system hang-up and the following message:
"A fatal exception OE has occurred at 0028:C29ADB28 in VXD PCIMP(01) + 00001C08
The current application will be terminated.
Press any key to continue"

Pressing any key, or Cntrl-Alt-Del does nothing. I have to restart the PC.

This is a new problem. OE runs fine-except when closing.
Haven't added any new programs lately.

Any thoughts would be most appreciated.

At this point, the preview pane then remains blank, and stays this way for about 45 seconds to a minute.

Next I get an error message that Microsoft Outlook has encountered a problem and needs to close.

I can still access my emails from the comcast website, but I'll be filling up my memory quota pretty soon!

Have tried rebooting, no change; any helps appreciated!

I have used OE6 for years and had no problems. When I click on my OE icon it opens, then freezes. If I try and click on any part of it, I get a not responding message and have to alt/control/del and end the program. My IE works fine and to my knowledge all other programs work fine also. I've tried downloading all the new registry file cleaner programs and so on. I have found in all the reading I've done that you should not use OE to store files...I have done that, so may have a corrupt file, but don't know how to fix it. I have three computers and the one I do most of my emailing on is the one with the problem...all the others work fine. I have Win XP operating system. IE 7 for my internet home page. HELP!!!

Hi SkeeterB,

You'll need to locate your OE Message Store folder.
You need to have Hidden files and Folders showing.
At the top of any folder(My Documents for example) click Tools>Folder Options>View tab.
Scroll down the list and place a check next to "Show Hidden Files and Folders" then click Apply and OK.

Search the hard drive for *.dbx.
Be sure to search for Hidden files and Folders.
Open the folder containing the DBX files.
If there is more than one folder containing DBX files, open the one that contains the DBX files that are named the same as the folders in OE.

Click Edit>Select All.
Right click one of the DBX files and click Properties on the Menu.
Make sure the "Read Only" is unchecked. If it's not, clear the check and OK then try OE.
If it's already unchecked, close the Properties box and do the following with OE closed.

In the OE Message Store folder, with All files Selected, click Edit>Cut.
Go to the Desktop and right click an empty area.
Select New>Folder from the menu. Name it Mailbackup.
Open Mailbackup and click Edit>Paste.
All the DBX files should now be in the Mailbackup folder on the Desktop and the Message Store folder should be empty.
Try to open OE.
Be aware that this will remove all messages from OE and it will start with only new, empty default folders. You can Import your messages from uncorrupted DBX files back into OE from the folder on the Desktop.

I received an email from a very trustworthy source. Once clicked, it not only does not open, but the waiting (hourglass) icon remains until I can successfully close out the program , which brings up the Task Manager "End Program" window. I still can receive new mail, but if I land on this email, I have to go through this all over again.

Does anyone know what I can do to get rid of this email, or if not, is my only option to remove Outlook Express? I would hate to think I will lose all my saved email. Thanks

Ever since I upgraded to Windows 7 on my hp 64-bit laptop, Outlook 2007 freezes and has the screen messed up, like with text shifted into wrong places. It never did this until I upgraded from Vista. It can work fine for hours, and then I go off and do something else, usually with the computer just sitting idle, and when I return, Outlook 2007 is frozen. I have to kill it in program manager, and sometimes that does not even work. I have to kill the actual process.

Has anyone else been having trouble keeping Outlook running under Windows 7? If so, do you know a workaround?
