I recommend trying the free service from Zip Cloud. It's currently our users' favorite backup and storage solution and will save you headaches down the line.

You can get it direct from this link http://goo.gl/rFYDxc. (This link will open the Zip Cloud homepage.)

Yep, I've been trying for over 12 months to get my contacts in MS Office 365 to sync with iCloud contacts!

I have Googled the world, been there dun that with never-ending suggestions but am no closer to solving the problem, assuming it is solvable!

I've been into iCloud contacts, Selected All contacts, exported as a Vcard, imported into Outlook but all it does out of 165 contacts is the very first one but ........ the saved Vcard file happily says 165 contacts contained herein, but there ain't, just the very first one starting with an A.

Maybe it can only be done one by one and not as a Group?

I vaguely recall way back in earlier Windows versions - like 5+ years ago - I had no problem with it then, so maybe I'm missing a step but trust me, I have tried every single trick suggested to me, all to no avail!

MS says "its easy....... yeh!

Any advice much appreciated!

Hi (again) guys and my apologies for yet again raising this saga that is driving me nuts!

Trust me, I have Googled the earth and tried every recommendation there is to solve the above issue that has been plaguing me ever since I stoopidly paid for the Office 365 suite!

I've gone to iCloud x Contacts x Settings x "Select All" as in blocking all the names, created an Export vCard, and that lets me save the file with it's 167 contacts to the desktop quite OK, data size looks about right, but then there is no way I can IMPORT it into MS Outlook 365!

The vCard file says there are the 167 contacts in there so it would appear the export bit is working OK, I guess?

Prior to 365, I had no problem for years and years so kind of know how to set it all up on my PC, devices and iCloud - or I thought I did - but this one has me well and truly beaten!

As an aside, I also seem to be having trouble syncing my Apple iPad and iPhone with the Cloud as well but I re-downloaded the latter again on my PC, checked all my device settings are set right and ........... getting nowhere!

Any advice short of harikari much appreciated!

Hello knowledgeable ones:

Until last week I was using outlook 2003, an older versions of itunes, and an ipod, and was able to back up my outlook contacts and calender through itunes and right to the ipod, no problem.

Now, however, I have had to upgrade everything so they can handshake correctly. This has meant going to Outlook 2007, the latest itunes, an iphone 5, and the icloud. My entire goal is to have the contacts in outlook match the contacts in both the cloud and the phone.

In using the icloud control on both of these, I now have the following: a variety of calenders in my outlook with names like calender in icloud, home in icloud, and my calender, all in lovely pastel shades. The phone has one calendar with only the occasionally dupes on a given date.

The phone, however, is a disaster, with as many as three dupes of the same name. Looking at Outlook, I have a slew of contacts, some dupes, many that I though i had deleted from outlook. Also two categories of contacts, icloud and my contacts, with sub-directories in each. I nearly had a heart attack when I saw that the contacts tab under my contacts was completely blank following a sync to the cloud, only to then find the other five versions, which, of course, I would like to have agree with each other. The icloud interface on line shows dupe contacts as well.

I understand that one person may not have all the answers to all the parts of this; I am on an iphone forum as well, trying to figure ... Read more

I have windows 7 and outlook 2010 on a PC. When linking to icloud and enabling it to synch with icloud, icloud took the contacts off my computer (at least it seems that way). In trying to resolve the issue and talking with Apple and Omnitech, a variety of solutions were tried. I now have all my contacts in the right categories showing up on my PC, but it appears that they are not on the PC but in the cloud. My goal is to copy one of my categories, mailing list, into a  new separate folder in the folder list in order to use it to merge with Word and make labels. In the past, I could right click on the mailing list category and drag it to the new folder that I created. It would then ask if I wanted it to copy the file there or move it. I copied it to the new folder and then was able to merge it with word. Currently, when I try to drag the file to the folder, it indicates that this action can not be done. It appears to me that the reason this is occurring is that the contact file is in the cloud not on the computer.  ?? I would like to create a file with my contacts on the PC with the contacts in the right categories and not duplicating what is currently showing up from the cloud. I believe once I do this I will again be able to copy the category to the new folder.

When I was using iCloud (I stopped because it gave me too many headaches) I deleted a recurring event and now I keep getting hundreds and hundreds of Appointment Series deletions showing in my Deleted folder.

If I do a search for one of the words in the appointment name, then delete all those items from the Deleted folder, they are not deleted and simply reappear.

Every once in a while, I have to go to my Deleted folder to find something but my deleted emails are scattered amongst these hundreds of Appointment Series deletions.

I have Outlook 365 on my desktop for emails , calendars and contacts
I use Icloud for Windows to sync my Calendar and Contacts from iphone to desktop or from desktop to iphone.
Was seamless until a few days ago when trying to edit a contact on Outlook it would not allow me to save it
Error message was "Your changes cannot be saved because you don't have permission to modify some or all of the items in this folder. Do you want to save a copy of the item in the default
folder for the item?
I can edit the contact on iphone and it updates though to Outlook on desktop.
Calendar appointments (new and amended/edited) are seamlessly working both ways.
A new contact inputted onto Outlook icloud contact will save but if you then try to add a new number or note then get the above error message.

Good morning everyone,
So the other day something incredibly weird had occurred. I was receiving email normally on my phone, came into work, logged in, and began working on my trouble tickets. I noted that when I went back to Outlook to view an email, the email in particular was gone... and then all were gone. My folders, and emails within them, still remained the same. I attempted to research what on Earth happened but I haven't been able to find anything specific to my issue.
I'm using Outlook 2010 connected to an Exchange 2010 server for work. Outlook was setup as cached exchange mode but that has since been changed. The emails also disappeared from my phone's inbox too... it's as if everything was deleted and Exchange figured that's what it should be and synced everything that way. Deleting my OST didn't resolve or resync anything. I ran the scanpst tool on the ost file which reports 93 errors, but as I read the scanpst tool can't repair an OST and thus doesn't do anything.
Does Outlook have some sort of log that may explain what on Earth happened? I can't find any error messages or any other reasons for what may have happened. My view settings weren't changed, nothing has changed on my end. There is no spyware / malware installed on the PC as far as I can tell. No real issues in the Sync issues folder other than a Forms syncing issue which seems to be related to Exchange needing a patch (but can otherwise be ignored).

A:Outlook 2010 / Exchange 2010 randomly deleted inbox email?

Are you the only person using that Exchange server who has this issue? Check with the IT department to see if they can recover the emails in your mailbox from the server. It's possible they recently did some maintenance on the mail server that caused this issue. That fact that both Outlook and your phone are having this issue points to this being an Exchange server problem, as Outlook uses autodiscover and MAPI while your phone uses ActiveSync to connect to the server.
Do you have access to your email using Outlook Web Access? If so, log in and see if the emails are there. If not, it's definitely a server issue.
If your mail is still on the server, one thing you could try is re-enabling the cached Exchange mode, saving the change, and then restarting Outlook. The last thing to try is to delete the email account profile and recreate it. Make sure to get the proper settings from IT if you don't already have them -- although since you are using Exchange and autodiscover, that's usually just a case of entering your username and password when you recreate it.

How do I need to set up my contacts so that I have one main folder with several sub folders sharing most of the same contacts. I want to be able to edit the contact information to any of the contacts from one folder and the corrections would take place to the contact in any of the other folders it may appear in. Is this possible in outlook? My database use to be in Access and it was a wonderful feature. I just can't believe that Outlook wouldn't have it.

Contacts will only appear on one place. If you have a contact named John Doe and it is filtered or categorized in multiple ways changing the contact once will change it everywhere. Do not duplicate contacts as there is no need to.

Hi Folks,

This appears to be a perennial subject but I think I've topped everyone.

1. All Contacts deleted from my MS Outlook address book (Office 2007 & Windows XP Tablet 2005 with Windows SP3).
2. Not in "Deleted Items" folder (I closed & reopened Outlook late only to discover the problem).
3. I do not use Microsoft Exchange.
4. I have no backup (yea, I know; I back up my other data regularly but never thought about Outlook).

Does anyone know if there is a way to recover my Contacts or are they gone forever? I've tried several .pst file recovery software programmes downloaded from the web however all have failed.

Thanks for any help !!

The title would make it sound like a simple problem, but I can't figure it out for the life of me. Here is the situation. Last week a thunder storm blew through and sent a electrical spike through my protection and rendered my motherboard useless. My computer guy salvaged my data for all users from the drive. Once the motherboard was replaced, he had to repair the OS,(Vista). He then plopped the data into a folder on the drive. Now I just need to reload my programs and all that stuff. My question is this: I see the folder with all of my contacts in it. How do I get those contacts back in Outlook 2007? I tried the import wizard, but it seems that there is no option for importing that format. I looked at the properties of one of the contacts and it is listed as a .contact format. What is that? Any help would be appricated.

I have a bunch of email addresses that have been automatically added to my Contacts in Outlook 2010, as well as some other contacts that have synced in from my phone, in addition to the many existing ones... many of the addresses and phone numbers go together with existing contacts. But is there an easy way to combine or "merge" two contact entries? Or am I stuck opening two entries, copy-and-pasting info, then deleting the extraneous one?

I have Contacts Scrubber, but it relies on two or more entries having at least some duplicate info... a lot of these extra entries are JUST automatically-added email addresses.

I have 2 Outlook 2010 contacts issues I'm dealing with...hopefully you can help.

1. Unable to search contacts.
When using the "Find a Contact" search box in the 'Find' section in the ribbon, I'm not able to get any results. I have my contacts organized into contacts, vendors, architects, franchisees, etc. Within my contacts section, I have a distribution group for each job location, but no actual contacts. The only results it will return is a distribution list...no individual contacts are returned.

2. Unable to select contacts and organize distribution groups
When I open a distribution list and try to add a new contact, I'm only able to select our corporate address list (internal), my contacts folder (containing only distribution lists), and the stupid 'suggested contacts' list containing emails of people that i don't have organized because I don't need to keep their address)...no other lists are available.

Any thoughts on how I can get through these problems? I'm using Windows 7 Pro, 64 bit, Office 2010. I did allow it to setup indexing. ANY help would be appreciated...this is driving me nuts!!!!

Thanks in advance

Hi I have Office 2010 which came bundled with Outlook. What I am trying to achieve is to trasnfer my iPhone contacts to my Outlook on my PC. I go through the iTunes contact sync and in iTunes I select Outlook as the option to sync with. After iTunes tells me the sync is complete, no contacts appear in my Outlook.

I used to have Outlook Express but now have the full-blown version of Outlook, could this be causing the problem?

A:Outlook 2010 problem importing contacts

Do you have iCloud Contact sync enabled on your iPhone. Note that if you do, iTunes will say that contacts were synced but like in your case, no contacts will appear within your Outlook. iCloud Contact sync and Outlook sync via iTunes do not go together.

You can alternatively export your iPhone contacts to outlook using third-party tools such as copytrans contacts:

Make sure to select the Outlook option once prompted during export.

Saw this post in 2008 but couldn't find the answer.

I have a few contacts that I can't find in any VIEW in my contacts folder. If I think of some obscure piece of information (not the first name or last name, but perhaps something within their email address), I can get to them through the search contacts feature - so I know the contact exists.

There's one in particular that I THOUGHT I actually recreated thinking it was a record problem... is it a data problem?

Hello everyone,

I have stumbled upon really freakish issue with Outlook 2010.
Here's scenario:
My users are being migrated from XP machines with Office 2003 onto Widows 7 with Office 2010.
One particular person had a quite large amount of contacts (over 500) on his mail account. This seem to be stored on Exchange Server as they travelled across to new machine without any local migration.
Now, the problem is following:
Each contact had a business phone number and business mailing address (not electronic mail!) among lots of other details Outlook allows you to put down. Each contact also had an option marked under "Addresses" panel - "This is the mailing adress"
where next to it was written down address of given person.
When user is creating an e-mail and selects a recipient from his local address book instead of corporate one he can see a list of suggestions according to his search criteria. On this list we've seen person display name and other details, however in E-mail column there was a phone number. Seems to be pulled from field Business Phone number". When such person is selected his e-mail address shows correctly but if someone on the other end doubleclick on such contact he is able to see phone number. This is a big issue while mailing couple of people at the same time.
I've managed to narrow down the problem to this single field "This is the mailing adress&... Read more

About the time my husband left his old job we got our new Windows 7 laptop, purchased and installed Office 2010, including Outlook. Since his new job is in the same industry, he wanted to "bring home" his Outlook contacts. He exported his contacts at work (PST file) to a jump drive. I imported these to our new Outlook. Little did I realize just how many contacts he had!

As I am thinking about getting a new cell phone to sync with Outlook, I really don't want to carry around his business contacts with me! I think I will just save his PST file until he really needs it.

Now... how can I remove his contacts I imported? If necessary I could "empty" all my contacts (if that's possible to do) and re-export/re-import my personal contacts from my old laptop.

So glad to find this Windows 7 forum! Any advice is appreciated.

Outlook 2010
Win 7 Pro 64 bit

Each email account has a .PST file.
"personal" / .PST files were created for archiving
Outlook created an Outlook.pst

Can someone confirm that Outlook.pst contains the contact list?
Note: In the account settings tab "Data File" outlook.pst is the only file that has a checkmark (default?) beside it.

The following link states contacts are stored in "Outlook Data File (.pst)".

A:which pst file stores the contacts in Outlook 2010

Contacts can be stored in EACH PST file that you use, so if you have multiple email accounts, each with its own PST, then you can have contacts in each PST file.

When adding a new contact (depending on how you add it), it will be stored in the Default data file (the one with the tick as you mentioned), or the one for the account you are using.,

If you look at the contacts on the bottom on the navigation pane (left), you will see several lists of contacts.

If each account shares a single PST file then all contacts will be in that PST file.

First, which version of Office do you have? You start by saying you have 2013, but then at the end you say you have 2010. This is important, as there are significant changes to the user interface between 2010 and 2013. Are you using the Outlook client on the computer, or the Outlook web app? Also, are you searching for the contacts in Outlook, or are you searching using the Windows 8 search bar?

This is a story of two computers. The old one is a Dell and the replacement is an HP (also old - but works fine).
My Dell desktop quit working recently. Discussions on a hardware forum indicated possible motherboard failure. The Dell had two hard drives. The C Drive with the OS (Win 7) and Office 2010 (email with Outlook 2010) and the D Drive with all my personal files.
To make sure I preserved the hard drives I obtained an adapter, took the hard drives out, read them both with my laptop, so both drives are fine.
I located a used HP desktop from which its hard drive had been removed. I hooked up my D Drive to the HP and installed Windows 7 and Office 2010. All of my personal files remained intact.
I set up Outlook 2010 which automatically found my two email accounts but my address book and contacts list did not appear.
I still have my Dell's C Drive hooked to my laptop. The C Drive from my old Dell still has the Windows 7 OS and Office 2010.
I've located two places on the C Drive that appear to have Outlook files:
Users - Me - AppData - Local - Microsoft - Outlook
Users - Me - AppData - Roaming - Microsoft - Outlook
I don't know how to read those files, I don't know if my address book and contents are in there and, if they are, I have no idea how to retrieve them.
Even if they aren't in those folders they've got to be somewhere on the drive that has the OS and Office.
What do I do next?

I'm installing Win 10 Pro Ver 1607 on a computer that previously ran Win 7 Pro. I installed Office 2010, including Outlook, and tried to import my contacts from a CSV file that I had created on another computer. After importing, there are no records in Contacts, and the import seems to be running for the last 2-3 hours (a bar of red lights keeps going across the screen when the Contacts window is open).  I cannot stop this import. So I have gone as far as uninstalling and reinstalling Office. When I reinstalled Office (including Outlook), the program appeared to find the Account Settings that I had created previously, and I did not have to recreate the accounts.  Further, despite reinstalling (which involved a couple of reboots), the Outlook Contacts import process keeps on running.
How can I stop it?

Well I got it to stop by doing a system restore, even though I got an error message when I ran the restore.
Hopefully, I'll be able to import the contacts using a new CSV file.

Outlook 2010 has a weird behaviour.
About half of my personal contacts are listed in separated folders, although it should be a single "personal" file.
The indication reads "company none" (14 in one 28 in another)
I have no idea how to correct that, so I sort on telephone-numbers.
But that mixes up personal en company, which I prefer separated.

The same weird ting is about any company listed in a single phrase, instead of just a list of companies.

There is no way to merge them in a single folder. (Company or Personal)

If you for instance type something in the company-field, Outlook moves it to the company list.
If however you remove that company information, the contact is moved to the second personal file instead of the primary original personal list.

So why are their two files of the same thing "company none"?

If I ad a new contact it will be added to the second list "company none"?

I've done something odd to solve it.
Opened up every personal contact in sequence.
Added a random character in the company field, saved it, opened again and removed that character.
Than saved it and it was stored in the second personal (company none) list.
So with all the others and now it is one file as it should be.
No more "Company none" double folder.

But still, why is every company address listed as "company (1 item)" ?

Hi and Welcome to TSF!

Windows 10 was released today, you'll have to give it a little bit of time to allow software developers to update their programs.

You don't make the forms with Word at all. You create them directly in Outlook and use any VBA to add functionality. GO to Tools > Forms > Design a form. It has been ages since I have attempted it.

Outlook 2010
iPod Touch 5th Gen iOS v 6.1.3
iTunes sync via USB cable - I do NOT use iCloud

Hi All

I have 2 different profiles in my desktop Outlook. One for Personal and One for Business. On my iPod Touch, I can receive email from all my POP3 email accounts. However, for Contacts, Notes and Calendars, my Touch ONLY syncs with my Personal Outlook Profile. This means that I cannot access my Business contacts on the Touch.

I have searched for an answer to see IF I can actually sync my Touch with multiple Outlook profiles, but haven't come up with an answer.

Does anyone know if iTunes will allow a sync between the device and multiple Outlook profiles?

I recently loaded a pop3 Hotmail account to my Outlook 2010 since I was having problems with the MAPI Hotmail sending multiple copies of emails with large attachments. I am hoping the pop3 version will eliminate this problem; however, I can't seem to get the pop3 account to find my contacts and Contacts folder does not appear in the folder list. This is stressing my pea sized brain and I sure could use some help.

I keep contact details in my Microsoft account (at Sign in to your Microsoft account). I've been using Outlook 2010 with the Microsoft Outlook Hotmail Connector and this used to synchronise my contacts fine.

However, for a while now, I've noticed mail synchronisation errors and I've had to configure my Microsoft mail account to use the standard IMAP settings (not via the Hotmail connector).

However, this method no longer synchronises my contacts. How do you configure the mail and contact settings in Outlook 2010 to synchronise both mail and contacts in Outlook 2010 with my Microsoft account?

I currently use Outlook 2010 because I have a paid license but I'm willing to upgrade.

This works Ok with iCloud but what I don't like is that I can't make my icloud calendar the default in Outlook so I don't get reminders on my PC. What I end up doing is manually copying critical appointments from my icloud calendar to my Outlook default calendar if I want to be sure to get a reminder on my PC!. This isn't ideal though. Does anyone have a better solution? I read that the latest Outlook 2016 doesn't sync at all so I can't upgrade Office. I wish MS and Apple would decide to work together instead of trying to defeat each other!!

I believe icloud will sync with windows 10 mail and calendar apps - is that true?

I've also heard of emclient being good but haven't tried it.

I'd really appreciate any input.

i have troubles with my outlook 2010 contacts. The main problem is that there is no category view. I have categorized my 1000+ contacts; only one category appears in Current View. When I search for a contact, it brings up three copies of the same contact. Worst, it assigns some an extra category. I recently exported all the contacts into a csv file, deleted them from Outlook, edited the csv file carefully, and imported them back into Outlook. The Outlook file must be corrupt. Should I just start over, delete Outlook, reinstall it, make a new file from scratch, import the csv contacts file? Other ideas?

In my Outlook 2010 I have set up a number of Contact Groups. I've named them A, B, C, D.............Z. In each one are the surnames of the recipients, e.g. in the A is Anderson, Addy, Apple, Adams, Aggenbach, etc., and likewise in B to Z. One of them (lets say the V's) have 35 addresses, and the A's have 6 addresses.

The problem I'm having is that when choosing the V Group (and some of the others), then when I click Send then it forever says Sending and never completes the task. So, it's impossible to send any other emails thereafter: they all then sit in the Outbox, waiting for the V task to finish. When I close and then re-open Outlook it just continues to send. I then have to delete some of the V recipients, until there are about 5 or so only, then it's works OK. Could the problem be, amongst others, the size in kB of the V Group, perhaps?

Please help!

A:Solved: Outlook 2010 unable to send contacts in distribution list successfully.

Just an idea, what email service are you using it with ?
is this a company exchange service or a home service
if home , and connected to one of the free mail providers (hotmail, gmail, yahoo etc)
perhaps there is a spam limit put on the number of email address you can send out on 1 email

although , I would expect 35 addresses to be OK
Gmail is 99

Hello everyone,

Just wondering if I am missing something but I just had a user delete the "outlook files" folder from their documents by mistake. This lead to them opening up outlook and it asking for a password which turned out to be the windows password. Of course once finally in outlook, it was empty.
When I tried to duplicate this, upon opening outlook, I get a flurry of questions about not seeing the .pst file, which I would expect. I simply restored from the recycle bin and all was good again. I never got a password prompt.
So I have 2 questions:

Why is the OS (windows 7) allowing the folder to be deleted as the contents are hidden files?

Has anyone here heard of the first scenario where the user claims to have done nothing and you get a password prompt when trying to open outlook (did a virus scan, was clean)?

My Deleted messages on MS outlook used to go to the Trashcan Icon. Now when I click the delete X they seem to disappear and I don't know where they go. The only way that I can see them is if I change the view. How do I change the folder that these deleted messages go to so that I don't have to drag them to the trashcan icon?
