I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hello

I need to connect my laptop to TV and I have two cables already available with me.
One is VGA cable and the other is 3.5mm 1/8" Stereo Male to 2-RCA Male Audio Y-Cable (see picture attached).

Thank You in advance.

I have a problem with Windows 10 and the AMD driver for the AMD A8 4500m APU.
After upgrading to Windows 10 everything seemed to work fine, until I updated the graphics driver from the AMD website. The fan kept blowing at full speed all the times. The fan started to blow at 100% as soon as Windows logs in. If i removed the AMD drivers and let Windows 10 install their own again the problem would be gone.

There are no processes that use the processor, show me tops about windows is off and the processor isnt running any hotter than without the driver from the AMD website, this i know simply by feeling the air that comes out of the fan. (While doing something cpu intensive the air gets alot hotter)

Somehow my laptop thinks (dont know if its windows 10 or the amd driver or whatever) that my cpu is at a much higher temperature than it really is. Piriform Speccy shows 95C but it's way colder than that. I know that because the air coming out of the ventilator is ice cold. If i remove the drivers and let windows 10 install their own PiriformSpeccy shows 37C at idle and the fan goes back to normal speed. I have no idea how to fix this though, but now i know it is a software related problem. Who's to blame? Windows or AMD? I hope someone knows the answers to these questions.

APU: AMD A8-4500M Trinity 32nm Technology

Motherboard: ASUSTeK COMPUTER INC. K55DR (P0)

OS: Windows 10 Home 64-bit

A:AMD A series laptop APU in combination with Windows 10.

I forgot to mention that the fan speed is not the only issue. There is also a black screen when windows starts for about 15 seconds that isnt there when i use the windows 10 standard drivers. I noticed it because i use an SSD so my laptop normally starts in a few seconds.

I use Alt + V as key combination for typing @ (which i just typed using alt code). It allways worked, but one day, I wanted to connect my Razer Cortex account to YouTube, and I just couldn't type it in. I checked the keyboard language, that was ok, I started pressing other alt + key combinations, they worked, then I pressed just the V key, and that worked too, so it's really not, that alt or V keys are not functional.

Could anyone help me with that?

A:My laptop refuses to type @ using the "usual" key combination

Get KeyCastOW from https://brookhong.github.io/2014/04/...n-windows.html and see if the combination works alright. Did you try in other places, like in notepad?

You can only upgrade the RAM of laptops. (99% of the time) That would do nice for Vista Ultimate.

No-one helped with my last post (Programs Arent Working?) soo I figured there's probably no solution, I left the laptop off since my last post on that and turned it on about half an hour ago and Windows Live Messenger works, I've uninstalled Media Player and started to use iTunes instead, so everything fine now, except the Windows Gadgets anyway, but I can live without them.

I've decided to try upgrading the RAM and CPU (maybe), I probably won't be doing it myself, but I'll get a professional I know to do it, but first I need parts! I've been on crucial.com and looked up some RAM so I think I'm fine on that, but could anyone please help with Processors? I'm completely clueless as to which processors can be upgraded or anything. I've used CPU-Z to find all the info about the processor I have, and read somewhere that I just need to find out the pins or something, which are 'Socket P (478)', and go from there. Using this info, where can I find a new processor?

By the way, I'm hoping to upgrade my laptop mainly for use with Reason 5 and maybe some gaming.

Hello all,

I currently have an LG LS50a laptop, its nothing special but its still in good working order and i like the screen and keyboard etc... I want to upgrade it though cause its going a little bit slow... Its currently got a 80gb harddrive, 1.6ghz pentium M processor, 2x256 mb of sdram ddr2600 333mhz. Not sure what motherboard but i don't know if it has a video card. Its currently got vista ultimate installed on it so that might be making it a little slow as well. Do you think if I reformat it with XP wether it will run significantly faster? It hasn't got a lot of crap on it though...

One option is to upgrade the RAM, I think the Harddrive is stuffed as well cause when I'm watching movies it sorta skips every couple of seconds but the sound keeps going, so I'd have to replace that too. I can only find PC3200 VS 1GB DDR 400mhz though, is this suitable to go with the excisting mobo and cpu etc?

Other option is to replace the whole lot... cpu, mobo, hdd and RAM...

But... are all the motherboards set up the same, as in are the outputs all in the same place so that i could just swap them straight over. Also, my excisting laptop has inbuild wireless, is this on the motherboard? In which case i would need to get a motherboard with wireless... What about the video card? It says it currently has mobility radeon 9200... Is this a seperate card in which case i would need to upgrade that too or is it build in?

LCD screen, afaik, may be replaced to screen with higher resolution(SXGA+), you should check the cable for the presence of both LVDS channels, if so, then you can upgrade your XGA+ LCD-screen to SXGA+.

I purchased a Samsung 850 EVO SSD 500 gb to replace my current 5400 rpm 1 tb. While the current drive still inside the laptop, I attached the empty SSD to a sata connector and attached it though USB. I didn't format the drive using disk management. I used samsung data migration software v3, which was successful, but when I switch out the old drive, it booted showing the lenovo screen then it when to a black screen. I see the HDD activity light and the mouse cursor moves, but nothing else is showing. I take the drive out, put the 5400 rpm back in and cloned it with macrium reflect. Tried again and immediately showed the lenovo screen and automatic repair on the bottom, it says it can't preform a repair and tells me to shut down. Any advice on the disk management?

Okay, first of all i've read many threads in this forum and others saying it is not possible to make groundbreaking changes (or any changes at all) to laptops as it is possible with desktops. I have an HP dv6 1105ee laptop (http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c01706655&tmp_task=prodinfoCategory&lc=en&dlc=ru&cc=ru〈=ru&product=3925199) and the most primary usage turned out to be Gaming after all.

I play games like Assassin's Creed, Dirt 2, GTA IV... Though they are "playable", i would like to play them on better graphic settings. Dirt 2 looks awfully nice and runs quite smoothly with medium settings on 1280 x 720 resolution though.

The problem i'm facing is with GTA IV. I am aware it is a demanding game. But my laptop seems to struggle to handle it even at 800 x 480 (the min) resolution. The frames stutter when there is a lot to display in the environment even at this resolution. I tried playing around with other settings as well but that just makes the game look worse (it already is bad with the low resolution). I've attached some screenshots of how the game looks.

My system is pretty clean with no unnecessary bloatwares. And i use Game Booster too (http://www.iobit.com/gamebooster.html).

Is it possible for me to upgrade my laptop's specs? If so, what would be the most feasible way to upgrade (considering playing games like GTA IV)? Would upgrading the RAM make a big difference? Can i upgrade... Read more

Laptop CPU's arent the easiest to change and are very difficult to find in stores, and at 2.19GHz there isn't a whole lot better that you can do. With only 1GB RAM, 2.2GHz should be great with most programs.

Unfortunately, I travel quite frequently. I need the laptop I have.

System Model: HP Pavilion dv6 Notebook PC
BIOS: InsydeH20 Version CCB.03.61.09f.20
Processor: AMD A6-3400M APU with Radeom(tm) HD Graphics (4 CPUs), ~1.4GHz

Display: AMD Radeon(TM) HD 6520G
I want to upgrade the processor to a higher AMD or an intel. I also want to upgrade the video card so that I can play Modern Warfare 3, Elder Scrolls, etc.

What processor and video card do I need to buy? Do I need to upgrade the power supply?

Thanks!

Hey guys,

I was thinking of getting a better cpu for my laptop, the one i have at the moment is a core 2 duo T6500 2.10ghz (socket P, code name penryn).

I did some reading and came to conclusion that as long as the code name and socket match, i can replace it with any other cpu.

The cpu's i was thinking of are the core 2 duo T9600, T9800 or T9900.

Am i right in thinking it is this straight forward? or will there have to be a BIOS update or something else i have missed, also, are there any better cpu's out there that i could replace it with?

Also, i dont know if this is important, but in Device Manager under Processors, it actually has the T9600 driver instead of the T6500 which is installed, which leads me to belive it could just be a swap job.

The laptop is a Toshiba Satellite A500 - 15N with the core 2 duo T6500, 4GB ram and cpu-z is telling me that the bios is version 1.90 and that the chipset is an intel gm45/gm47.

Any info on this would be very helpful and if iv missed any details out jsut gimmi a shout.

oh and i wish everyone a happy new year!

Hello,

First nothing is simple on a laptop when upgrading.

I am not sure about your choice for the upgrade as the FSB is quicker than yours!

Look here & think again, perhaps the T9500 is more appropriate?

So I'm trying to upgrade my Laptop specifically just the processor and my Graphics Card. But I have some questions. I'll post my system specs first.

Alienware M11x R2
Windows 7 Home Premium (64 bit OS)
Intel(R) Core i5 CPU @ 1.07 GHz
4.00 GB RAM (3.80 Usable)
Intel HD Graphics with Optimus Technology nVidia GeForce 335m
My main questions are about the bolded. I feel like my RAM is sufficient enough for most easy gaming (specifically D3) and I know my computer will be able to run it even with what I have now. But I feel like I will have to run at at low settings. Which isn't terrible, I would just like to run it a little faster. Anyways, the questions I have are..

1. What would be compatible with my computer. I have searched quite a bit, but I just do not trust myself with making the end decision.
2. Would it even be worth it to upgrade if I plan on getting a new computer at the start of next year?
3. If I do upgrade my Graphics Card is that somehow going to interfere with the Optimus Technology? I've read a lot about how it is very touchy and minor things can make it stop working.

If someone could help me out with those I'd greatly appreciate it.

Thanks.

A:Upgrading Laptop

Any upgrades will generate more heat with no way to dissipate it. The only place you will find definitive answers to your questions is from Dell. Laptops are custom designed and built by the OEM. The parts (other than RAM and hard drive) are not easily, if at all, interchangeable. At best, you may be able to pick from a couple of graphics cards assuming yours is removable and more powerful ones are available for that board, BIOS, and power supply.

In my opinion, skip it. You'll have to strip the entire thing apart and put it back together without missing a single screw, snap, cable, etc. If it all works, it will generate more heat and could lead to serious problems. You might eek out some performance increase, but it's a big risk.

And it may not even be possible at all.

You can add more RAM. Changing processors would be tricky to impossible.

I imagine it takes regular ddr SODIMM RAM, but you can go to www.crucial.com and use their tool to figure out exactly what you need. You can buy from them or order from any online retailer such as newegg or zipzoomfly.

First of all, here's my laptop's specs just so if they're somehow needed:
? Operating System: Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit
? CPU: Intel i7 740QM (1.73GHz, Turbo2.93G, 6MB)
? Memory: 6GB
? Hard Drive: 640GB
? Screen: 15.6" LED 1366*768

So anyway, I wanted to upgrade my laptops RAM so it can handle heavy programs like Vegas Pro, Photoshop and CorelDRAW better than it does now since I have some heavy HD footage to edit. My fears come from the fact that i've never done this before in my life, so I wanna be aware of what i'm doing here before I completely screw my laptop up for good. My questions are:
Operating System: Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit
? How do you install more RAM? I know it's a little "card" that you insert in a slot inside the laptop, but is inserting it enough or do you have to change the BIOS or install it manually or something?
? How do I know how much RAM my PC can handle? (EDIT: Already found out, thanks anyway)
? Is there anyway to know if the RAM is inserted well in the slot? I want to know this before I try it for the first time...
? Is it reccommended to make use of all slots, or the less slots used the better?
? Are RAM "cards" universal, or are some of them incompatible with certain computers/laptops?

Sorry for having such doubts, it's my first time doing this and I don't want to screw it up in any way. So this is what crucial.com had to say about my PC's RAM:

It really doesn't matter how many slots you do or don't use. Either way it will work just fine.

No RAM is not universal. I see you are using the crucial system scanner which is great and helps you buy the correct RAM. May I recommend you buy from there .

Everyone has doubts when they do things for the first time. It's good to ask around. But I am sure you will be fine.

I'm considering upgrading the RAM on my laptop, but I'd like some advice before I buy.

My laptop is an Acer 5920, running Windows 7 32-bit. The specs are listed here http://www.miniputer.com/Acer/Aspire_5920.html . My model is running an Intel Core 2 Duo T7300 processor) with 2GB of RAM installed.

I'm considering upgrading to 4GB, using 2x2GB SODIMM, DDR2 sticks as recommended by the Crucial website (http://www.crucial.com/uk/upgrade/Acer-memory/Aspire+Notebooks/Aspire+5920-upgrades.html).

I understand that my Intel GM965 Express will only use RAM at 667MHz, so there's no need to buy 800MHz. Is this correct?

I've been quite confused by online discussions regarding how much RAM Windows 7 32-bit can recognise - will the full 4GB be utilised? If not, how much can my OS utilise, and will it make noticeable difference to the 2GB installed?

A:Upgrading laptop RAM

800MHz RAM is not supported, so dont waste your money. 667MHz is what Crucial recommended. Go for that.

the main reason im upgrading ram for my laptop that has 512 mb is to run the games faster on my laptop since its got 32mb vram. all my friends said there is no way i can upgrade graphic card for laptop. so when i was looking for ram, there were PC3200, 2700 2100, etc... my computer has pc2700 memory right now but do i have to install pc2700 in it?
i also heard there are limits for how much memory the laptop can hold. is that true?

A:Upgrading Ram for laptop

Your system memory and video memory are two completely different things. You can normally upgrade your system memory up to the limit the motherboard chipset can handle so yes there are limts to the amount of memory you can add. If your motherboard supports RAM speeds higher than PC2700 go for it, but you will more than likely have to do some adjustments once you do this. Contact the manufacturer or consult their web site to see exactly what the upgrade path is.

Definitely wanna upgrade the RAM, but also thinking about doing the CPU as well.

From what I can tell, the most RAM it can handle is 2x 512 MB 266 MHz SODIMM DDR SDRAM RAM modules.
If I look for that on eBay, its gonna be fairly expensive, I was thinking that I could probably get some newer RAM that is backwards compatible, but I'm a little out of my depth. Would this be suitable? http://cgi.ebay.com.au/KTT667D2-512...ltDomain_0&hash=item4cf29853b5#ht_2123wt_1141

Also wanna do the CPU, I know that it takes a AMD Mobile Athlon XP-M processor, would this work? http://cgi.ebay.com.au/AMD-Mobile-A...538?pt=CPUs&hash=item53dd7bbcb2#ht_548wt_1141

Thanks for any help.

I was wondering on what possible processors I could replace my intel i7-5500u with. If a new motherboard is needed to replace it with the new chip, then so be it. Mt laptop is factory stock, with the 16gb RAM, 1tb SSD, and the NVIDIA GeForce. I would just like to have a little stronger cpu, and perferably a 4 core, or maybe even a 6 core if possible. Perfered range of 3.0ghz or higher.  I also saw that some envy laptops can support up to 2 HDD/SSD. If my laptop is able to support that as well, that would be much appreciated.

I just got a new laptop, a new edition of the Dell Inspiron 15, and while it's a great laptop, it's video card isn't up to par for anything. I've been looking around, searching for anything that might help me figure out how to upgrade, what video card would work, and if my laptop will even handle an improved video card, let alone if it's able to fit or if I need to try doing that externally, and I can't find enough information on any of that. My budget's currently enough for a decent video card, up to $200, so I would think that's not a problem.

Since I'm technologically inept, I hope there is someone that can help me know if upgrading is even a possibility.

is this your new laptop http://www.dell.com/us/p/inspiron-15-3521/pd ? Upgrading the Graphics except on some higher end models is not really possible. The Graphics Controller is embedded on the motherboard. Generally your upgrade options on a laptop is usually limited to increasing the Ram or a hard drive upgrade. If you are saying that the Graphics won't handle gaming, most laptops are not designed as gaming computers. And those that are are actually very expensive for that reason.

A:upgrading a laptop's cpu help?

I am assuming you have the Clevo model number wrong, as all I can find is M660SU or M661SU. As for the processor, I don't see it specifically listed as an option on those laptops, but they do list the Intel Core 2 Duo Processors T7200 ,T7400, and T7600. Judging from that info I would assume it will work. I would suggest contacting Clevo for their opinion though.

Hi! I've got a laptop with 256 MB RAM and I'm interested in upgrading it with 512 MB RAM.

I'm not sure which type of RAM is in my laptop ex. PC2700.
My question is, If I have PC2700 256 MB RAM on my laptop and I add PC3200 512 MB RAM.
Will the two blocks be able to co-operate?
Or do I have to buy two PC3200 Blocks?
I was looking at PC3200 512MB RAM / 64bit somewhere, what's the 64bit?
I don't think I've got a 64 bit system, does it matter??

I want to upgrade my VAIO laptop SVS13's HDD to a 256gb ssd. it has Windows 8.1 on it, and what I want to do is backup only a couple files but move most of my data from my old booting HDD that I'm using now. Would this process I'm describing work? So I would basically take out my hdd, put it in the enclosure, put the ssd in my laptop, install Windows using a USB drive (I have my own pro key, so I won't be using the recovery partitioned one if tis works), install programs/drivers, and copy/paste selected data from the enclosure.

This is the SSD I want to buy, though if there is anything better in this price range, please tell me. I'm not sure which enclosure to get, so I need help with that too. I've been confused that whether the HDD will die quicker or something after reading other threads.

A:Upgrading my laptop's HDD to an ssd, will using an HDD enc

It should work, why not ? Just few things to do first, make sure you collect all the drivers needed, do not connect now secondary drive until OS installation completed and make sure AHCI mode is set in the BIOS. Other than that there's nothing different from OS drive being SSD instead of HDD.

see what's available from toshiba, check with computer repair shops, invest in a new laptop.

dell has some smokin' deals with rebates with bigger harddrives, more ram, cd burner/dvd combos that are hard to beat compared to the dollars you'll spend on upgrades.

Hi guys,

I know that you can add memory to a laptop but what about a CPU upgrade. Are there special mobile CPU's? In particular the Asus gaming republic laptops.

A friend of mine asked to check some Intel C2Q CPU's for him. He is currently running a fairly old gaming laptop. As far as I know: Intel C2D, 3GB ram memory, GTX260 GPU.
If the price is right, he might replace the C2D with the C2Q.

But before browsing around for one, I wanted to check first if there are any specifications, differences or requirements when planning on replacing a laptop CPU.

Thanks ahead.

A:Upgrading Laptop CPU

Back in the days of socket 478 there were some proprietary sockets for laptops floating around. I think today for the most part they are using sockets typical to their chipset.
Upgrading is just as dependent on bios support for other cpu's as it is for the physical socket itself though. More specific information would probably be forthcoming from the community here if we had exact make and model information on the laptop.
