I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

Hi Experts, I have installed Fingerprint Manager Pro Windows 7 32 bit to my x1 carbon laptop 207A. After Installation and restart, I click the Lenovo Fingerprint manager pro and it prompted cannot access/enroll fingerprint because my account is a guest or built-in administrator. I have been using this account as administrator. I even activate the user admin account by using the cmd and enter the command net user admin /active:yes (something like that). After that the admin account was open. But still it prompted that error. What should I do to enroll my fingerprint? Please help me!!

Good day,

Is there a log file or syslog, that contains detailed information about login steps? I have a problem with login. This morning I had to log in 3x. 2x the log in just failed silently(the screen blanks 1x, then the moving dots appear and the login times out silently). It is getting frustrated that my login takes 3-6 minutes :D
Also, the fingerprint reader is pos, if you pardon my french. Half of the time it is not initialized, when laptop wakes from sleep and if it works, I have to try really hard to get my fingerprint recognized. Is this the part, that did not pass Q/A, but was thrown in anyway?
Somebody could make a fortune selling fingerprint covers, that blend seamlessly with hand rest, so that I could forget, that the fp reader exists at all :D

I upgraded to Win10 last year. The fingerprint reader has been working fine since then. Recently it stopped. Device Manager says the device is working properly. SimplePass doesn'r report an issue. I'm still prompted for my fingerprint when logging into web sites. But the reader doesn't appear to be on. The light doesn't flash and my fingerprint isn't read. Device Manager lists the driver as: 1/7/20124.3.301.0 My SimplePass is: 6.0.100.276

Since updating to Win10 1709, unlocking via fingerprint needs to be done twice (or I have to hold my finger on the pad continuously while it's checked twice). I get my normal startup screen, put my finger on the pad when the green light comes on, and Windows recognises me (it says hello to me) at which point I lift my finger. Then it asks me for my fingerprint again. This only happens when turning on from a shutdown. If I sleep or hibernate, fingerprint unlock works as it always has. Any thoughts? (Just installed a new BIOS update via Lenovo Companion, but that didn't help.)

I've now tried installing the Windows 10 Pro Creator's Update twice, and both times my fingerprint reader stopped working for Windows Hello. I just get "Your credentials could not be verified". I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the driver (and I'm on the latest), removing and re-registering my fingerprint, and I've also tried the trick I saw suggested elsewhere of switching to a local account, then back to a Microsoft account. That works temporarily but as soon as I switch back to my MS account, it breaks again. I've rooted around the BIOS but everything seems fine. I have the same fingerprint set on startup and that still works fine; Windows just doesn't recognize it, either when it's passed on from the BIOS or when I try to do it again manually. Has anyone had this problem and managed to fix it *without* reverting permanently to a local account? I don't see why that should be necessary and it definitely isn't supposed to be. I have reverted back to the Anniversary Update both times because of this issue.

Hi everyone,

I've just upgraded my Toshiba Portege r830 pt320a-06k031 from win7 pro to Win10.
I installed all the needed drivers (win7 pro version) and the system is faster and very stable: I am really impressed!.

The only things I found not 100% compatible is the "Toshiba Fingerprint Utility", that adds 2 weird extra icons to my logon screen, both of them aliases of my 2 local users.

It is high probable that some newer and win10 compatible laptops, are using a "Toshiba Fingerprint Utility" vesion compatibile with my R380; could you help me to find out which one?

Thank you in advance!

Hi all, Got a new mSATA SSD (Kingston 240GB UV500 mSATA SUV500MS/240G 3D TLC SSD) for my X220 but I was just too lazy to migrate the OS partition from HDD to SSD. So I decided to clean install Windows 10 Version 1903 onto it. The installation went very well and Windows 10 Version 1903 just works great without any hiccup so far. The following is a quick walk-thru how to install Windows 10 Version 1903 and required drivers and software onto ThinkPad X220. 1, My ThinkPad X220 setting before installation: Upgrade the BIOS to the latest version before installation - 1.46 (8DET76WW) https://support.lenovo.com/hk/en/downloads/ds018805 2. Windows 10 License My X220 has got a Windows 10 Pro digital license already. So the digital license will be load automatically back to my X220 after the installation. 3. Where to download Windows 10 Version 1903: Go to https://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/software-download/windows10, use the Media Creation Tool to create a bootable USB drvie (8GB recommended) 4. Installation of Windows 10 Version 1903: Note: Please backup your data before moving forward otherwise all your data will be loss. The installation procedures are pretty much the same as the previous versions of Windows 10. I wasn't sure if this was the place for this but here goes.

when using the fingerprint scanner on a network with pasword changes every 90days, does the fingerprint scanner on a lenovo laptop synch properly with a newly updated password? I have a user here who changed the password but the fingerprint scanner did not seem to recognize the change since when you first set it up it asks for your current password. Once setup correctly all you have to do is scan your fingerprint and it logs you in.

Any info would be great.

Thanks,

I have a Thinkpad X1 Yoga (3rd Gen). The fingerprint sensor is not working and I don't have the option to sign in with my fingerprint. I bought the laptop around a year ago and the fingerprint sensor worked fine for the first few months, but stopped working recently.  Here are the symptoms:When setting up sign-in options, there is no fingerpring option in Windows HelloIn the device manager, there is no entry for "biometric sensor" or anything similarIn the bios, when I selected "reset fingerprint data", I get the response "no fingerprint reader is attached"I have tried a full re-install of Windows 10 and it did not change anything. Is anyone else having similar issues? Is this something I can fix through software or would I have to send it in for servicing? Thank!

You're not alone, and unfortunately it's been identified as a hardware issue. The BIOS message that you got is actually being used as a confirmation that the problem is hardware, not software. See this thread.

A:Fingerprint reader not detected on new Thinkpad Yo...

Hi

I don't have that Thinkpad model, but for what I remember in some other model the Fingerprint reader was internally connected to an USB port.

You can check some programs like HWInfo and check where is the fingerprint reader plugged to see if Windows recognize there is a deviced plugged on it. It can also be interesting for you to grab the hardwareID to know the manufacturer of it.

Which Windows version are you using?
There is also some fingerprint drivers on the Yoga 260 support site for Win10 and Win7.
http://support.lenovo.com/us/en/products/laptops-and-netbooks/thinkpad-yoga-series-laptops/thinkpad-...

Maybe you can also give it a try.

Hello Dear Lenovo community.  I need some advice on an issue i have. One of our employees who left has left a T460p for reuse. When i attempted to reimage the machine i was greeted with a request to scan my finger. I am not able to go in to the bios as there is no password. When prompted to enter the bios i enter the supposed password, get a OK sign and enter however i cannot change anything.  This employee left the country and is now living somewhere in the Philipines....   So the question is, how the heck do i wipe this ? Or should i just throw it in the recycling ?Thanks  Cheers!

A:Thinkpad T460p fingerprint lock - help

Good day and welcome to the community. If you're unable to change anything in the BIOS, then there is a supervisor/admin password set. The only way to remove it is to know it. There are no workarounds, backdoors, or master passwords. If the password is not available the only option is to contact Service to discuss a system board replacement.Regards.

Hi! I have recently purchased a Thinkpad L480 and the fingerprint reader only worked very breefly after setup. Now, whenever I try to setup my fingerprint in windows hello the device seems as it would recognize a fingerprint without a finger on the reader (reader is clean). The fingerprint setup assistant shows a short flashing of the fingerprint icon as it would recognize a finger and then continues with only painting the innermost line of the fingerprint red and stops to detect any input. As mentioned breefly after windows setup the fingerpringt scanner worked. After a relog the scanner stopped working. I tried deleting and setting up a new fingerprint, when the problem first occured. All drivers are up to date. The latest windows version is used. Thanks in advance!

Hi,The fingerprint scanner LED on my W530 died. Here are the symptoms: - Fingerprint reader is not recognized in BIOS -I deleted the driver and its files from device manager but the TouchChip finger print processor reinstall itself.  The properties for the device is:Device Type: biometric devicesManufacturer: AuthenTec (I think the company has since been acquired by Apple)Location:  Port_#0003.Hub_#0004 - The following message shows up in the event viewer:  "Driver Management concluded the process to install driver tcwbfadv.inf_amd64_5a48bf8b68a239ce\tcwbfadv.inf for Device Instance ID USB\VID_147E&PID_2020\6&387E66F3&0&3 with the following status: 0x0." - ThinkVantage fingerprint software doesn't find the fingerprint reader I concluded that this is a HW issue with the scanner.  I ordered a new fingerprint scanner for someone in China which looked just like the original (one never knows).  I installed the new scanner to no avail - no LED.  The cable connected to the fingerprint scanner is shared with the mouse. Since the mouse is working OK, there is a good chance that the cable is OK but I cannot be sure. Anyone has any ideas on where I should go next?  It appears that the TouchChip fingerprint processor is working but something else is failing.

I believe there are 2 parts involved: the portion of the cable that goes to the reader, and there is a biometric corocessor on the motherboard.  One of those is probably the problem

Hello all, I hope you are doing well I purchased my T460P slightly over a year ago. When it arrived, the fingerprint sensor worked perfectly fine. Then I did a reset of Windows 10 and found that the sensor would not work. I got a error Code 10 in device manager. Some research unearthed the fact that this was a known issue when resetting Windows 10 and the only solution was a clean install. Today, after finding the time to backup all my files, I finally did do my clean install of Windows 10. However, I run into the same issue. After installing all drivers and getting everything to work fine, the fingerprint sensor still shows a yellow exclamation mark in device manager and the error: "This device cannot start. (Code 10)" I made sure to format my hard drive when installing and did a complete clean install with no leftover data from my previous install. I downloaded the latest driver from the support page and have also updated BIOS to the latest version (as of November 1 2017). I'm not quite sure what to do next. I know there is no hardware issue as the sensor was working fine and it was the initial reset that caused it to stop working. The laptop has been taken care of well and has had no falls or knocks. I would appreciate any input and thank you for your time in advance

When I run my finger across the fingerprint sensor, the light is disabled as my finger gets close to the sensor.  Its almost as though it is detecting the change in the light.  I don't know if this is normal, but the end result is that upon swiping a finger, it does not read it and thus cannot be used.  Periodically, the light will stay on and Windows Hello will have no reaction.  Other times, ocassionally, when the finger is rolled to one side, then it flash orange and say it cannot read it. I get the impression that a USB reset is occuring.  Is there any tool to check the fingerprint sensor?  Or does anyone have any ideas?

Hello everyone! This P50's a few weeks old and so far I love it. It's got everything I want except a keyboard backlight, a bottom that doesn't scuff, and this: A fingerprint scanner that sometimes refuses to work. Let me explain this in detail. The fingerprint scanner works around 9/10ths of the time after waking up from sleep. The light blinks when I place my finger on it, and I log in. However, 1 of every 10 times this happens: When I place my finger on the fingerprint scanner (showing a green light in this state), the green light turns off and no scan seems to take place. There's no authentication or error. When I release my finger, the green light comes back on again. Is there any reason as to why this happens? Thank you!

Did you just recently install Windows Spring Creators Update (Version 1803)? It is known to mess with the fingerprint system. The solution is to reinstall the driver. You say your driver is up to date. But did you install it just now, or did you check the version number only? If you just checked the version number, I would recommend as a first step to reinstall the fingerprint driver.

The fingerprint sensor seems to have disappeared off my Thinkpad P51. I've tried to update drivers but when going into the device manager, there is not even a section for biometric devices where the fingerprint sensor would normally be. I checked under all other subcategories and none had anything that looked like a fingerprint sensor. Going into windows settings, under fingerprint sensor the message "We couldn't find a fingerprint scanner compatible with windows hello fingerprint" appears. I then checked BIOS and under fingerprint security settings, BIOS also does not see any fingerprint hardware installed on the device. Any suggestions? There has been no physical damage to the computer and no other indication as to why the hardware would stop working. Since it last worked, the light above the fingerprint scanner has not come on once either.
