I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I just bought my HP Pavilion X360 not even 30 days ago.  I had it on the ottoman and my dog jumped up and knock it off. It fell a decent distance, but still worked fine. I've been using it without any problems, until now. The battery drained, so I went to plug in the power cord and then proceeded to press the power button and it got stuck. I tried everything to get it to depress. Initially, I thought it would have very little to do with the fall,  because it was working fine until I had to recharge and power up. Sadly, I can get nothing to turn on and the button still appears NOT to have depressed (still stuck).  Can anyone help me with this? I don't honestly know if it was due to the fall, or if this is just an issue with HP Pavilion laptops. Can someone also advise on the cost to replace this button?  Thank you!

A:XP help is stuck at the turn on screen

We have to find what is the error code(Whether its a problem with driver, file missing or hardware issue....)

Turn on the computer when you see the gateway logo on the screen, keep tapping f8 key on keyboard and you will see "Advanced Boot Options".
Select "Disable Automatic Restart when computer failure" and press enter.
This will display some error codes.
Post what is the error code so that we can suggest troubleshooting according to that.

It possible for you to run any programs? If so, try Process Explorer, it may point to what is using up the CPU. I use a program called Process Lasso to catch software that may use 100% of the CPU and lock up. You can check it out here: http://www.bitsum.com/prolasso.php

At this point, we have to deduce what it isn't.

Yesterday, I was presented with 21 updates. After installing the updates, it gave me the message shown in the subject. Hours later, the message is still there so I went into safe mode and restored to an earlier date but the updates want to install again so I tried again. Same thing. I tried several times last night and again this morning.

Last night I set up update to ask me and this morning Windows scolded me for doing it.

Anyway, I am once again stuck at Preparing to configure Windows, etc.

I have a feeling that if I let it go for a week nothing will happen.

Hello everyone, I have an HP Envy j100t which I purchased in 2014. ever since yesterday it's been starting but the screen remains pitch black, no display at all. It won't get to start up page, just remains a blank dark screen even though the power light is on and there's no battery issue because it was on charge all night and the AC adopter is still in.   I keep on having to get to get to the BIOS recovery screen, letting that update, and then it proceeds to restart. However when it restarts, it never gets to start up and there is the same dark screen- no display.  I have to always update BIOS, take out the battery and AC adapter, put them back in, and then it will start. Or sometimes even that whole process might not restart it.  Please help!

My hubby was surfing the internet when it suddenly restarted itself and went to a blue screen of death, then it went to the black screen that gave options to boot up in safe mode, safe mode with networking, safe mode with command prompt, last known good configuration, and start windows normally. No matter which you select it goes to windows icon and restarts again going to the blue screen:

Disable or uninstall any anti-virus, disk defragmentation or back up utilities. Check your hard drive configuration. and check for updated drivers. Run CHKDS /F to check for hard drive corruption, and then restart your computer.

I have no idea what is wrong with my computer......

Here is the problem:

I am using Windows XP

Last night i used Norton Antivirus and did a full system scan it came up with no viruses. This morning i turned on my computer used AIM (AOL Instant Messanger) and talked to no one. Next I started to play Battlefield 1942 offline. As I am playing the game freezes and simultaniously makes a noise (this noise was not a beep it was like internal parts or something). I waited and the game started to work again about 10 seconds later the same thing happened (it freezing and making the noise) but this time it did not start working again it stayed frozen. So I hit the restart button on the outside of my computer and as its restarting it brings me to a screen that asks me how i would like to start the computer safe mode, last good known configuration, start windows normally, etc. After I have selected my choice the windows xp loading window comes up for about enough time for the loading bar to scroll across twice. For a split second a BLUE SCREEN then comes up and goes away. No matter what options I choose (safe mode, last best known configuration, or start windows normally, etc.) it will always try to load, go to blue screen, and start all over again.

If anything needs to be clarified plese let me know and i will clarify it.

**Please can someone help me it would be greatly appriciated**

A:My computer is stuck in a loop: turn on,boot screen, bluescreen, and then restarts!!!

The noise you heard may be an indication of an impending hard drive failure.
If you here clicking sounds coming from your hard drive it's about to go.
Hope you had your important data backed up.

The constant boot loop may be fixable. I'm not advocating this fix just pointing it

"We are sorry to hear that the battery did not work well. No problem for return and you will get a full refund if we receive your return within 60 days of the purchase date.

However, before the return please check the following:
1. Make sure that your power adapter and electric outlet work well
2. Make sure that the connection part between battery and laptop is clean. If not, please clean and try the battery again
3. Many new batteries need several charge to reach the full capacity. If it is a newly received battery please recharge several times to allow the battery to its full capacity.
4. If you recently upgrade your operating system to windows 7, it may cause the battery not charge. Please go online for a solution for your specific laptop model.
5. Please check your laptop manufacturer's website for a BIOS update. Recently a few customers reported that the Bios update solved the problem having with their battery.

Try bringing up the Advanced Startup Options by tapping F8 as soon as the laptop is turned on.

Then highlight "Last known good configuration" and press <Enter>

Hopefully that will get you into Windows but it won't solve the update problem.
It could be caused by malware so please post on the malware forum as we aren't allowed to help with malware on the non-malware forums.

My laptop is Dell Inspiron 14 N4050.
The problem is why it stucks in BIOS and cannot go to windows after I tried installing Windows 10 last time. That time the screen showed "there is not complete drivers inside". After that when I shut down forcefully and turn it on back the screen appeared in blue color and saying please call technician.
These happened after I send my laptop to a Computer shop for reformat. Then backed home I downloaded the new Windows 10 OS and after completed the laptop cannot be used. I think maybe the shop that I send my laptop do not put all the drivers. and the result my laptop cannot be upgraded and now cannot use anymore. many files located inside and I cannot take them back. so sad. please help me.

First thing to do is run an extended hard drive diagnostic - the root of all the problems could be a bad drive.
F12 at powerup.
This system doesn't have official support for anything newer than Windows 8 -- though some have reported 10 will install and run (the audio is the part where the drivers usually fail).

So as the title says, my laptop has decided not to turn on anymore. It's a Toshiba Satellite A355, I bought it in 2009 and it runs Windows 7. The warranty, like my laptop, has perished.

History: During the massive snowstorm the Washington D.C. area experienced 2 winters ago, I managed to slip on the ice with my laptop in it's (not-so-)protective bag. The corner of the case cracked and since that moment I have had a plethora of annoying problems with it. First, the computer stopped charging when I plugged it in, unless I applied the perfect amount of pressure to it. I figured the port for the charger had come loose since dropping it, took it to a shop, payed too much money and it worked for about 3 weeks. The second problem came when it only charged after plugging, unplugging and replugging it in. This process was often repeated anywhere from one to three million times before a steady charge could be achieved. Then my charger started to catch on fire one time and I had to get a new one, which coincidentally (or not) solved the problem of having to replug it over and over. Luckily, the new charger died, we had a funeral for it and I bought a new cheap one online. It also worked okay and I assume it still works since the green light is on when plugged into the wall. If you're still reading, it gets better only in the sense that it gets worse.
The Problem: Today's problem began when my computer stopped receiving a charge and eventually died. I plugged it in... Read more

I tried putting in headphones that were meant for a cell phone into the left side usb port in my laptop. I heard a click, which I assumed meant it fit, and then the computer just shut down. It was plugged into the AC adapter and was charging. I tried removing the battery and the adapter out for a few minutes then put them both back in and it still would not turn on. The lights that show if it is on/off, internet connection, and if it is charging are now all off. Nothing will work. However, before I took out the battery, whenever I plugged the AC adapter in, the charging light would turn on. Now it does not and I have taken the battery in and out numerous times. Because my laptop will not turn on I can not use your TSG SysInfo to tell you specific details about it. However, I know it is a Toshiba Satellite C55Dt-A5305. Check in the BIOS if the HD is recognized by the computer, if it is not then the drive has failed. If it shows up in the BIOS then do the following:

Do you have the XP CD, if so boot from the CD when you are at the Windows Setup screen, press R to get into the Recovery Console.

From there you will get a Command Window showing a list of Window installs, it will look like this:

It will ask which Windows install you want to log into, select 1 then enter. From here you will get a Command Window, now you want to type
chkdsk /r

The laptop I'm working on doesn't turn on. I plug the charger in and the indicator led turns blue without the battery and orange with the battery.I tried the circuit reset and I left it charging an entire day but still nothing, I checked the power button card and cable, checked and cleaned RAM card and verified if the CMOS battery has voltage but everything seems to be in order and I'm out of ideas. Please help.
